It was my first time at this office and although it seemed very well run and thorough with the exam, I still had to wait a half an hour to be seen. I just spent an hour on the phone about a double copay bill. call SWEYE They sent be to surgery who sent me to billing who sent me to there facility where I had my surgery. Along the way 50 minutes or robot telling me to several robots telling me to hold I was told to hold or they would call me back. They did but explained the bill was for a facility fee? One I already paid, but for a different facility. Asked for someone in. charge. Left a message and told to call SWEYE where it started only to start again. Total I spent $7,0000 plus for a procedure covered by my insurance( but upgrades lenses). Good luck with SWeye or American Vision Partners who owns a bunch of these local facilities. read more

If you are looking for compassion, empathy, respect or just kindness, this is not the place for you. Two appts from two different Drs and both stated I had cataracts. One said new lenses would be $2000-$4000. Seconds said $3500-$6000 but they do have a payment plan. If you get the one covered by Medicare you will not see well but if you spend $6500 an eye you might not have to wear glasses. Yikes.... I had cataract surgery done here and when they explained the options for the lens, their suggestion was the upgraded $4,000 lens. I previously had retina surgery and had my files sent to Dr Phister for review before my cataract surgery. After my surgery I couldn't see well, everything was blurry. I went back many times over a year complaining that my eye was blurrier than before my surgery. Dr Phister did a laser procedure to help make it clearer, but that procedure was not successful. My eye was still blurry. He told me there was nothing more he could do to make it clear and to make an appointment with my retina specialist, which I did, and after his exam, he realized that a bifocal lens was what was used for my cataract surgery. He stated that if Dr. Phister would have read my chart notes about my retina surgery, he would've realize that that lens would never have given me clear vision. So I spent $4000 for a lens that made my eyesight worse than before the surgery. My retina specialist sent me to a different cataract surgeon who also agreed with my retina dr, that the lens that was put in was not the correct lens, and I would never have clear vision with it. After a long consultation with my new cataract surgeon, we agreed, although very risky, to take out the incorrect lens and put in the correct one. I had that surgery done and the next day my vision was much clearer already. I have called and left messages with the head office to explain how unhappy I was with the service that I had received after paying $4000 for a lens that was never going to work. To this day I have left nine messages for Demetrius to call me back to resolve this issue and have still not received a call back. So I feel I have no other option than to seek legal advice. The Dr here was negligent by not reviewing my chart from my retina dr., if he had he would have realize that the lens that he suggested I use, was never going to work. Apparently this office gets a huge kick back from up selling the lenses. read more

Eye appointment was canceled, but no one called to let us know. I took off work to make this appointment and didn't find out it was canceled until I showed up. Ordered and paid for eyeglasses a month ago, can't get any answer or return of voice messages left inquiring on status. Took off early to go in and find out what is going on... they are now closed for remodeling. I will have to call my credit card company to dispute the charge since they have failed to provide the product and I cannot get any answers. read more

I have used Southwestern Eye Center for regular eye care and Laser Sugery. They are fabulous, I always feel well taken care of. The staff are knowledgeable and kind. A special shout out to Samantha in the eye glasses clinic (Apache Junction), she goes above and beyond. She is delightful and so very helpful. Sam makes you feel like you are her only patient. As a new patient, The first greeting that the receptionist gave us was asking for a mask. I had read on the website that masks were optional so I did not bring one with me. She proceeded to inform us that for Dr. Pfister's office I would be required to wear one and handed me one. She then looked at my husband and told him he would have to leave. I brought him with me because I was not sure I would need to remember the fine details of the procedure. She was condescending and uncaring and did not listen to us at all. She knew the procedures and that's all she cared about. I will never go back. The doctor may be amazing, but I could not get past the poor service from the front office personnel. read more

March 19, 2024 I had an original appointment in September of 2023 due to high pressures in my eyes. I had to wait 45 minutes. They gave me an appointment card to return in 6 months for a recheck. I showed up on that day & was told by Samantha or (Sam) at the front desk they didn't have me on the books so I couldn't be seen. I didn't have my appointment card with me. I made a new appointment for the following Monday. This time I brought last week's appointment card with me and this weeks. On Thursday someone called & said things have changed and I need a referral. I called my PCP and gave them the information. I showed up on Monday & they told me I couldn't be seen again because they didn't receive the referral. Sam said they call you when they receive the referral, but not when they don't. The attitude she had is cold and uncaring. I told her that the courteous thing to do is let the patient know important things like that. She completely blew off the fact that last weeks appointment didn't get in the books. I will never go back. Sam needs to learn customer service skills!! read more

Dr Bluth and his male assistant were very friendly and thorough on my most recent visit. They also were very informative and professional in taking care of my recent vision problem of having scar tissue from my cataract surgery. The only problem I did have was having to sit in their waiting room and not being allowed to use my cell phone I would think it would be a good time to look at social media provided I had head phones or time to play s game quietly but still pay attention to the names being called and responding immediately when your name is called I'm assuming there's been many that can't follow proper manners in this area that have now ruined it for the rest of us. Next time I'll be sure to bring a newspaper or a book even though the wait was very short . If not for that i would have given you 5 stars. read more

The technician was very rude. My wife wanted to wipe surfaces with sanitizer. She kept saying that she just did it. If it makes your patients feel better, you should accommodate. She kept giving me dirty looks because I accompanied my wife. I guess she didn't want any witnesses! I was treated much better at Barnett Dulaney. Oh yeah, then the manager came out and tried to defend the technician. We will never return. read more

I went in for an eye exam after almost 5 years. Dr. Bluth and his staff were amazing. I waited less than 5 minutes to be seen, exam was very thorough and the doctor explained the results of my exam in detail as well as answering all of my questions. Definitely recommend. read more

I had cataract surgery..after a fungus grew in my eye because of scar tissue from the procedure not going very well . I was then charge $1400 to laser away the issue..it took 30 seconds...I was charged just under $3000 per minute for this procedure that could be done in any office but was set up so that a $650 facility fee could be added. This office is wonderful and the entire staff is great except Dr. Pfister ... he didn't seem to care that after his procedure my mom had some floaters left in her eye. They say it might go away within a few months or maybe never. Even though she never had them before he kept saying it was due to her age and finally just said well, 'it is what it is'. My mother has this big floater affecting her eye sight and the doctor says 'it is what it is'. Maybe he didn't want to come off this way (or maybe he didn't care) but it seemed as though he was just brushing us off. No empathy whatsoever (not even the fake kind). The staff was very professional and made sure everyone was as safe as possible. Dr. Field-Sherlock is very nice, approachable and concerned about the patient. She is very thorough and will question a test if she doesn't thinks it's correct. I was very pleased with my overall experience at SEC including their Optics department where I selected two pairs of glasses. Had an appointment today with DR Blouth, unfortunately I didn't get to see him because I didn't have my debit card with me, I have new insurance And apparently I had a copay which I was not aware. I told the lady I would get her the card when my husband arrived to pick me up, she asked how long as she wouldn't put through the fact that I was there till payment was made, I said about 20 minutes she said no couldn't wait which I get but keep in mind, I am not a new patient, I have glaucoma and am a long time forever patient but not anymore. I will look for a new eye doctor in my area. What ever happened to good customer service! read more

I was contacted by Southwest eye and they said they had an opening at a certain time. I said that would be fine. I completely changed my schedule to meet the time they suggested. I was early as usual filled out my paperwork then found out all the people there were scheduled for the same time. OK. Well after 40 minutes of waiting I just walked out. Very poor customer service. Even people who showed up after me went in first. I do not recommend this place If you treat your customers this poorly then I can't imagine their professional service is any better read more

I made an appointment for yesterday to have my annual eye exam. I have been using a Gilbert optometrist who is very good but a distance away from my current home. My Gilbert (as well as all past optometrists) were able to perform eye exams, glaucoma testing, retinal eye imaging, dilation, etc. in a single visit. I assumed SEC would do the same. I saw Dr. Bluth who I very much enjoyed and feel is quite qualified. He was my only positive experience. Upon entering the facility, I had the impression of an old, poorly maintained building. The Opthalmic Assistant did a couple basic tests and dilated my eyes. Dr. Bluth then inspected my eyes. Total time was about 15 minutes. Dr. Bluth spoke to me about the difference between my current vision and that which was used to order my eyeglasses and contacts a year ago. He suggested the change was not significant enough for me to throw away my old contacts but it was my choice if I wanted new glasses. He said the office person at checkout would help me with my prescription which I could then take to a different office in the building to select frames, etc. The person at checkout told me she was unable to provide me with a prescription unless I scheduled another appointment. I explained what Dr. Bluth had told me but she saw nothing on her paperwork and didn't want to bother the doctor for confirmation. I'm not going back there. read more

I made an appointment for cataracts. They had my cataract referral faxed to them, yet gave me an appointment with an optometrist for a vision exam. When I told the staff I already had an exam and needed cataract surgery, she then took me back to the front desk for an appointment with a surgeon. So, besides waiting a month for an appointment, I get to wait 5 weeks for another appointment. read more

Dr. Lisa Sherlock is my optometrist and I've trusted my I care with her for nearly 20 years. She's very friendly and personable during my annual examinations, and she never rushes through the visit. She takes time for friendly chats and to answer all of my questions. I actually look forward to my annual visits with Dr. Sherlock. Her assistant Anna is equally friendly and professional. Anna explains the tests that she's performing on my eyes and answers whatever questions that I may have. Lastly, Anna possesses both great manners and a very positive attitude. Dr. Sherlock and Anna are a fantastic team, they have to be-I trust them with my sight! read more
