Dr. Nirenberg is an outstanding doctor with great medical intelligence and very relaxing and welcoming bedside manner! After that, it goes downhill very fast! Rude, inattentive, and uncaring are the words that first come to mind regarding the staff and assistants that work there. I had multiple issues with my eyes. I saw Dr. Yuri McKee. He performed three different surgeries on my eyes. My vision is wonderful now! He is very professional,informative, skilled and pro active! He has served and protected our country ( read his bio)! After my surgery I not only saw Dr. McKee, I saw Dr. Amy Crump! Dr. Crump is professional, attentive, very skilled and pleasant! She was proactive and responsive to my concerns and solved my problem immediately. The surgical counselor was so efficient and on top of her game! I called my insurance company to ensure that all had been approved and the insurance representative said that Anna had called in to acquire authorization, taking the name, date and time as well as authorization number! Let me start out by saying Dr. Yuri McKee was outstanding and would get 5 stars but this isn't about him, this is about the O.D. I paid some $9000 for light adjustable lens for my cataract surgery, and I didn't get 20/20 far vision which was my request, they are adjustable, and I told them many times I wanted 20/20 far vision and the near stuff I can use readers for. The O.D. didn't adjust the lens right mainly because they use a 10-foot eye chart at 10 feet now the reason the standard is 20 feet is because it (20 ft) is considered the "optical infinity" point, at which a distance so far away that light rays coming from that distance are considered parallel. Their 10-foot system isn't "optical infinity". My eyes are adjusted for 10 feet, and they see perfectly at 10 feet but not at 20 feet to infinity. On the last eye check I complained that I am not seeing clearly at far vision ranges. She told me that my brain hasn't adjusted yet and to give it 60 days so I waited 60 days with no optical enhancement except for readers for reading smaller print stuff so my brain could adjust, it didn't help. I then went out and bought a 10 foot eye chart and a 20 foot eye chart, also eye glasses of -.5 , -.75 and -1.0 diopters. The charts were calibrated by me using the formula: Letter height (mm) = (Viewing distance (mm) * tan (5 arc minutes)) / (2 * 3.14) and they were within .003 of an inch (.076mm) to right on the money for every letter. I then compared my vision one eyed and two eyed on both charts. Without glasses the 10-foot chart at 10 feet I can read the 20/20 line with no problem with no glasses. With the 20-foot chart at 20 feet I struggle with the 20/30 line. When I put on the -.5 glasses, I get all of 20/25 and some of the 20/20 with the .75 I get 20/20 and some 20/15 with the -1.0 pair I get me all of 20/15 and some of the 20/13 line. So let me say I am not happy, with the exception of Dr. Yuri McKee, they don't know what they are doing. read more

Everyone has a different experience, mine was horrible because you have to go through the horrible unprofessional unpleasant front desk service that try to diagnose you first and give their opinion before you can see the doctor, are they doctors no, but they act like they are, they won't let me see the doctor,refusing service what can I do but look for someone else read more

Dr McKee is an EXCELLENT doctor. The office is very friendly. Becky got us right in when my husband had an eye problem. We spent two hours there with a thorough exam. Dr. McKee's bedside manner isn't the greatest, but he is good doctor and I care more about that. read more

For cataract surgery. Get all the cast did not move at all during surgery. Everything seemed perfect until we went in and I found out my eye was actually worse than before the surgery. The manager made me confused and I did not know if she was being rude or trying to joke with me on leaving. The experience was not good at all except when you first come in the girls are great when they greet you with smiles and kindness. The techs are nice and very kind. They help when your first going in the rooms to test your eyes. Great at keeping you relaxed while testing. Oh and the scheduler she's great. Management confusing sucks here just coming out of laughter and enjoying our time scheduling. You walk into the manager that tuts your happiness into confusion much of the time and frustration with her. I asked my wife why don't you just go from the scheduler straight out the door because the experience is much better there. my Doctor made my vision worse. read more

With today's computer technology to have people wait long is offensive and abusive.The double scheduling method to cause this is done specifically for financial gains.I filled a complaint with their management and after my very last appointment the clique decided to block mine and my wife's phone numbers. I was just searching online for my Ophthalmologist's information to update my address book. One of the search results was this Yelp page. The Yelp page showed a few horrible reviews for East Valley Ophthalmology. These reviews spoke of experiences that are so very far from my visits, I felt compelled to post my own review of this office. I cannot comment on the doctor listed in the other reviews. I can tell you that my doctor, Dr. Neal Nirenberg, is one of the best doctors I have ever had. Both my wife and I use Dr. Nirenberg and have seen him numerous times each since moving to Mesa in 2015. Dr. Nirenberg has always taken the time necessary to explain everything to us during our visits. I have never felt rushed at any of my appointments. In fact I am amazed and thankful that he is able to take the time to explain everything so thoroughly. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Nirenberg and his support staff (ツ). read more

I was referred to East Valley Ophthalmology for an urgent situation prior to a long holiday weekend. They were extremely accommodating and were able to get me in immediately. I was treated by Dr. Kao who I found to be very knowledgeable and attentive to my situation. I had a serious eye ulcer that he was able to correct with drops. He carefully monitored my eye progress. He was concerned about the ulcer's long term impact on my vision which luckily has been minimal. I went there for multiple visits and rarely had to wait more than a few minutes to be seen. They are the best!! They have an amazing staff, and Dr. Hill is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. The staff is respectful and wants to make sure all your needs are met. I never felt rushed. Before going to EVO, I was told after many visits at another eye clinic for over 2 years, I was not a candidate for cataract surgery. I was referred to Dr. Kao with what was initially diagnosed as a cornea issue. After a YEAR of infrequent appointments, a long term therapy of useless OTC eye drops that resulted in absolutely no progress I stopped going. For a short time I had an eye infection and while that was timidly addressed, it took going to another eye specialist to get a treatment that really resolved the infection part of my problems. read more

After waiting for an hour and taken back to a room and given a routine examine they put me back to the waiting room for another 30 min. Then finally I got back to a room and 20 min after that Dr Kao came in. Spent less than 4 mins with me prescribe some eye drops then wants me to come back. Oh yea charge me $250 for the visit. I rate his knowledge at a 6-7 (didn't spend enough time with me to know any better) rate his friendliness 1 (if that) bedside manner a 1 (maybe) Do your self a favor and find another office to go to. read more
