So it starts the second you walk in the door. First, there's enough people in the lobby to fill a Greyhound bus station Next up is the check in kiosk. I hate using a kiosk at McDonalds to get a cheese burger. I hate it even more at a medical office. I doubly hate it when there are two people behind the kiosk who could check you in...buuutttt nooooo. The whole kiosk thing alone will keep me from ever returning. Now you wait in the aforementioned Greyhound bus station. Then they take you back to a room. Then an exam, then another crowded room to wait, then another room for another exam, then another room to wait, then another room for an exam. Finally you're done, you check out and you think you're going to get your paper prescription....buuutttttt noooooo. It's back out to the main Greyhound bus station waiting room where you have to wait for someone to be free to hand you your prescription so you can finally leave. My overall experience there has been poor, to say the least. As someone else commented, you start off at the kiosk, then sit in a waiting area with a 50 other people. When you finally get called back (they are never on time), you get a few eye tests, then comes the dilation. Every single visit you get dilation! Then you go sit in another waiting area for 10-15 minutes. Then they call you for another test, and you go back to the room and wait some more. Finally, you get seen by the doctor, and he spends maybe 5 minutes with you. The surgery procedures are about the same. I felt like the doctors and surgeons don't explains things as thorough as they should, and when you ask questions, they act annoyed and defensive. I just went for my last follow up in Mesa (Higley and Southern). I had to wait an hour and forty-five minutes to be seen! And they tried to charge me $50 for a follow up appointment from surgery! I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone! read more

Don't expect them to return your phone call. I had to buy a $68.00 of eye medicine because they never called me back. I found out 3 days later it wasn't working anyway. I had laser surgery 3 months ago for glaucoma. Now my eye pressure is up, I am on 2 new medications and I am having terrible side effects. I have a headache, eye pain and everything is blurry. I called 3 times today starting in the morning. Each time they say "we will call you back today". No call. I have lost all faith in your business. I was told I may have to have major eye surgery now if the drops don't work. There is no way I would ever let you do surgery on me! If I had a problem afterwards I would be on my own. You should be ashamed as a medical business. Taking calls and addressing problems is your job. I could go blind by the time you address anything. I am finding a new doctor. read more

2 or 3 months ago I went to a Barnet Dulaney eye center for a general check up and order a new pair of glasses. The place was busy but things moved quickly and the staff was friendly and helpful. My eyes hadn't changed much but they gave me a new prescription and new glasses were ordered. The first pair needed to be remade. The 2nd pair are not much better than the first. After 2 or 3 months of hoping my eyes will adapt, sore, watery eyes at the end of the day are the norm now. I should have told them to just remake to the old prescription. This eye doctor is the preferred Dr for the VA. What you will immediately find out if that they are extremely busy, it's packed in like sardines in the lobby and you will have to wait to sit down. We were 15 minutes early for the appointment as requested, my Grandfather is 94 years old so sitting and waiting can be painful for him. After 30 minutes and a lot of people checking in after us, and seeing the Dr before us and leaving, we asked how much longer? They said oh very soon and we are sorry. Ok, I understand. 15 minutes later same thing, so sorry we will look into it. 20 minutes later they say, oh so sorry we checked in the wrong person and took a couple-pay for the wrong amount from you. Now it's too late and we have to re-schedule your appointment for another day. If this was the first time, I might be understanding. However, this is the 3 time it has happened. I called to speak to a manager to find out what the heck is going on. Guess what? 30 minutes of hold time, I was transferred to an off site schedule of person who put me on hold another 15 minutes to get the manager on the phone. Guess what happened in the end? They just left me on hold ams disconnected me twice. I've never had so much time wasted without anyone caring even a little bit. On top of that they will recommend countless procedures you don't need. His glaucoma is unrepairable and his vision is lost. They have been trying to make him have surgery, and 2 additional drops to restore his eyesight. You can't restore a damaged optical nerve once it's damaged. So, it's a way for them to make money. The office does not answer the phone and for some reason is unable to return calls to patients. very sad. 5 different appointments in three different locations in Mesa before cataract surgery?? certainly a method of running up the bill!!! Before the surgery beware of the scheduler upselling the lens to insert!! again to make more money! The offices are a real s___ show. 5 appointments at different times and days in three different locations?? Really?? Finally get to see the surgeon but we waited 1/2 hour after appointment scheduled time, only to be led to waiting room, another 20 minute wait to see the doc. He says everything looks good explains no reason for expensive lens ($4k) . Then back to original waiting room to wait for scheduler along with the 6 other people who were with in each of waiting room with us. After another half hour back in original waiting room, we left. 20 minutes home then 33 minutes later scheduler calls to upsell (denies attempting to do so claiming doc has it in notes). Scheduler says i need to sign paper work for authorization. After 5 visits I will not waste another half day with this. Scheduler promised to email paperwork as it needed to be signed within a week he said. 2 weeks later no email, no paperwork, and scheduler is never available. if you call them please go to the bathroom first it will be a long wait. Still awaiting call back from someone, anyone. Very strange that the office had 6 or 7 staff members (being paid well, I hope) milling around, talking to each other while the 6 groups that await the scheduler are waiting in the original waiting room. Doordash delivered food twice while we were waiting before we left. Come on scheduling (upselling) can be accomplished quickly. This experience is unbelievable and unforgivable. At this point due to lack of communication, I do not know if I am having the surgery or not?? no instructions, no nothing. Lost confidence in this business. It's Friday, October 25th 2004. I had an appointment time of 7:40. It's now 9:45, been seen by several staff & a few tests have been done prior to seeing the eye Dr. Everyone (staff) is incredibly friendly. Especially Leah who brought me back from the waiting room and did my lengthy initial work up. I would so far ONLY ask the front staff or appointment setters TELL YOU IT MAY BE SEVERAL HOURS TO COMPLETE YOUR VISIT! I'm in deep here, eyes dilated and have another appointment at 11:00 Can't leave now & I hope to make my next commitment. Had I known this might be a 2 hour plus visit I would have planned accordingly. If this is the exception, no problem, but if it's the norm. Better communication is needed. Waiting now in the room for my Dr. time 9:55! it's now 10:20, just saw Dr. Rahman. LOVED HIM! Great listener & kind. Total time here...2hrs 40 minutes. Was long but never felt forgotten. Every time I take my parents for their eye appointments they are always running 1/2 hour behind due to overbooking. It's like a cattle call in the waiting room. This type of appointment is disrespectful to the patient & subliminally sends off the notion that their patients time means nothing to them. Had cataract surgery on both eyes. Medical staff are professional and know their jobs. Administrative/clerical staff are either untrained or simply do not care. They prefer to sit behind the counter and let people (all with eye problems) figure out how to use the kiosk. Billing dept. is evidently on permanent vacation. I called them 11-15 to question an amount I had been told to pay if I wanted my second eye surgery. I never got a return call. And, I did not even get a bill (which I believe was wrong) on the amount they had me pay until days after the surgery. Once I get a bill for the second surgery, I will probably just pay it so I never had to have contact with these people again. The other reviews address the length of time you wait and the parking issues. They are correct! If you choose to go here, plan to spend a minimum of one hour just waiting to see someone. Lastly, they do not explain the surgery or the possible problems you may experience afterwards. You have to question them. I'd recommend you look on the Internet so you will know what to ask. I had cataract surgery at Delaney, Perkins, and Barnet eye centers. My first visit they tried to pressure me into paying $5000 for my astigmatism. My second visit was the same but $2,900. My third visit they told me I had to pay out-of-pocket for the anesthesia. I called Humana they said I didn't know it . I did not pay and had the surgery. My fourth visit I paid my co-pay. I got a phone call from them stating I didn't pay my co-pay. The woman argued with me until I finally said look do you want the transaction number from my bank statement because I can tell you exact date and time. She said oh my gosh I gotta do a little more research I'll get back to you and I never heard from her again. When I call to get my prescription they told me it would be $53. Humana said they cannot legally say prescription and must say refraction. They've been warned about this. I went to tru sight A vision center inside target and got my prescription with no charge it was covered by my insurance. I called the Board of ophthalmology, spoke with the director She said she gets 4 to 5 complaints a week. They have no better business bureau rating. They have judgments against them. The true site ophthalmologist asked if I had any issues with my cataract surgery I said yes my left eye every once in a while like well hit it and I'll see a spray of light. My left lens is scratched so if she could see it they could see it. I will never go back there. read more

From "Whitney's" comment to my review, you might think she and I spoke. Nope! I sent her the info she asked for. Her response was that someone from that office would be in touch. Nope! I provided her the information September 20 or 22. It is October 9. No one contacted me. I doubt they will. I do plan on having surgery there because the medical staff are very professional and the doctor doing the surgery answered my questions and checked my file for necessary tests. He discovered that one test that should have been done during my last appointment had not been done. It got done that day. I have high hopes, all based on the medical staff. If you go to this location, have them verify your full name and date of birth. Take a book to read because the minimum wait time so far has been 40 minutes with one hour five minutes being the maximum ... only because I started complaining. There are several other locations in the Mesa/Gilbert not associated with this company. Dr. Brown and the entire staff were very professional, and did everything possible to make sure I was comfortable & well informed throughout the process. I THINK MONEY IS MORE IMPORTANT TO BARNET DULANEY THAN PATIENTS!! My husband was experiencing cloudiness in his vision so we made an appointment at Barnet Dulaney in Mesa. My husband was seen and found out that he had cataracts in both eyes. We proceeded to meet with a Surgery Counselor for a quote and was offered a program thru Alphaeon for medical credit with no interest to pay for the surgeries. We paid for both eyes to be done. My husband proceeded to get the first eye done and when he went for checkups after surgery, it was discovered when checking the other eye to schedule surgery, something didn't look right. He was sent the same day to a specialist and then proceeded to see another specialist who confirmed he had Iris Cancer. By the way, the odds of this cancer are 1 in ten million. He then proceeded to be treated for Iris Cancer for the next year. Once he was released to have the second eye done, we again spoke to a surgery counselor. Even though we paid for both eyes a year earlier, is was discovered at this time that the previous surgery counselor made a $1700 dollar mistake in her quote and the prices increased and the coverage was different because of a different plan year with the insurance company and Barnet quoted us another $4300+ dollars to have the second eye done. We should have run then. We wrote a letter about the situation requesting that they give us a break, but MONEY is more important to this practice than people. They said they could give us a $375 dollar discount, which was an insult, but something. We proceeded to have the surgery done and even though they said they were giving a discount on the day of surgery, we paid all $4313+ and was told we would be refunded the discount after surgery. Surgery was done in March and still we were being billed a balance due of $2800+ dollars into July. I called multiple times about the billing and why we were being billed for surgery that HAD TO BE PAID IN FULL before they would even perform it with a balance due. I made calls for weeks before finally getting the payment we made in March applied in August. I then called multiple times before being told that they were not honoring the discount. They are very disorganized when it comes to billing and are hard to get a hold of and hard to deal with. Our payments on the medical card went from $166 to $300/mo. and there is no concern for us and what we went thru (remember Iris Cancer is 1 in ten million chance to get) when we were in a situation that was completely out of our control. All they care about is money, not patients. I'm 67 Years old and I had a Macular Pucker in my left eye and it was distorting my vision making it blurry and causing double vision. I went to Barnet Dulaney Perkins eye center and saw Dr. Graff. He explained what it was and how it would be repaired if I decided to have the surgery. Dr. Graff explained that there were no guarantees of the quality of my vision after the surgery so I was able to make an informed decision. I decided to have the surgery and after some pre-op appointments I had the surgery on July 19, 2023. Everyone at Barnet Dulaney Perkins was fantastic. The staff are wonderful. The surgery went very well and it was fully explained to me that I would need to keep my head in a nose down attitude so the bubble that was injected in my eye would be helping to smooth the retina where he removed the film that was covering my macula and retina. Having to stay in this position for 48 hours really sucked but it's over now and I'm very optimistic about the outcome. The day after the surgery I received a call from one of the people on his team to ask how I was, did I have any issues or questions. GREAT FOLLOW UP! I know I won't get 20-20 vision back, but it was 20-80 before the surgery and I'm pretty sure it will be better than that over the next few months of healing. If you have distortion in your vision then I highly recommend that you get an eye exam at Barnet Dulaney Perkins and if you have a Macular Pucker or any other issue with the Retina, Dr. Graff is the one you should seek out! read more

I had been going to this business for years, when everything changed. I was told that I needed Two cateric surgery and that was after two blazer surgery. The biggest scam was that they told me that I was legally blind, that if a got pulled over by an officer I would be in big trouble!!! I had a 9:00 AM appointment with Dr. Atadaria this morning. When I arrived 10 minutes early , the waiting room was over crowded, with a long line waiting to check in. Most of the patients were elderly and there were not enough seats, forcing them to stand. I was called back after an hour, had a photo of my optic nerve then was taken to another waiting room that was full, so was then taken to another waiting room, also full. Finally they found a third waiting room to have me wait ANOTHER hour. NO Dr was worth my waiting any longer, especially if they have so little respect for their patients. I have no idea if I would have had to sit and wait another hour because I complained to the front desk and walked out. If you want an office that has so little respect of your time, and you don't mind waiting for hours- thIs is the place for you. read more

Your time isn't as important as theirs. I scheduled an appointment online. When I went to the appointment they said I didn't have one. When I said I scheduled online, I was told their online system wasn't working right. But, they could schedule me the same day... 2 hours later. That is assuming they were running on time. I drove 25 minutes to their facility and had other things I had to do. If I had shown up 2 hours after my appointment they would have canceled me and charged me $25. Run Forrest Run! Routinely overbooked resulting in long delays for scheduled appointments, crowded waiting room area, unpleasant and rude receptionists; incompetence abounds and failure to verify authorizations in a timely manner resulting in last minute scramble by bungling "counselors" grumbling about being short staffed. The main number is never answered by anyone and you are on endless hold listening to screeching noise (music), failed prompts with option for call back as not to have to wait on hold, with no call back ever advancing, and flat out impossible telephone contact with the facility. I would highly advise to find an alternative provider facility as there are many outstanding providers in the area to choose from to advance considerate and professional care. I drove to the location today in the hopes of facilitating communication but everyone was "not available" or conveniently not responsive to the issue at hand regarding the dreadful phone system. I made my final decision to find an alternate eye care provider, when a patient came in with a bulging swollen eye, apparently after surgery, and was unable to contact anyone by phone thus having to come in person. The patient was not escorted to an exam room or offered assistance and was told by an impatient receptionist that she would call someone; I heard the patient speaking to someone on the line stating that she could not drive to Phoenix as she lives in Mesa (31 kilometers). Good luck with that! Response to Business: I have provided the business with the contact information that was requested. However, this would be readily accessible from my file and records. I originally went to BDP as I'd had a corneal ulcer which had left scarring right in my vision line, and my optometrist had suggested that perhaps Lasik could both clear up my sight deficiencies and remove the scarring. Alas, it WAS too good to be true - apparently I'm not a good Lasik candidate. My initial few visits went well (which is why I gave them a 2). After my 2019 flight medical, the FAA requested more info about the ulcer and follow up treatment. I went back to BDP to have them complete a form for the FAA. The girl who got me ready dilated my eyes, which turned out to be a bad thing as the ophthalmologist wasn't sure one test called for would be accurate with dilated eyes. That necessitated a second visit for the same thing. I was billed full price (mostly paid by insurance but a small copay) for BOTH visits. Two months later I get a letter from FAA saying they had revoked my flight medical. As a flight instructor, this meant an instant loss of income. After some checking on the previous forms they'd completed, I found they'd noted my corrected distant vision as 20/400 (20/200 is legally blind). Now a third visit. No, they didn't charge me (as well they should not have) but it was time out of my day and gas. Then they chase me (yes, I deliberately didn't get around to paying them particularly quickly) for $20 copay for the 2 visits resulting in the incorrect results. This has cost me at least $8000 in lost income. Unbelievable incompetence. read more

This is the most unorganized business with no care about the patient. They reschedule patients and then make them wait extra time between surgery causing double vision, dizziness, and headaches. When they cancel do to the doctors schedule they do not open up more days or times just push you further out. When they meet to set you up it is all about paying for extra things insurance does not cover. I recommend trying to find a place that has more compassion for the patient and better scheduling. I feel they have forgotten about patient care and understanding what a patient goes through. The doctors need to remember that when they move surgical patients it is important to get them in right away. I understand emergencies happen. Then rearrange and prioritize surgical patients. I hope they make changes to how they do things regarding the surgeries. read more

I have been to this clinic for 3 years. The parking is horrible and it's a crap shoot to get a spot. I lucked out all three times. Wait time was the worse this last visit, about 2 hours total. After waiting in the waiting area for over an hour, I finally get to the exam room and have all the tests done. Then another 30 minutes before the doctor came in, Dr. La. First time meeting her and she barely took any time introducing herself. She was talking so fast and go over things so fast I didn't have time to digest all that she said. She asked if I had been informed of possible glaucoma, and I was shocked because I had not. She quickly explained what it meant and then off she goes. No concern for me at all. She was in the exam room about 10 minutes tops. I will be finding a new clinic. read more
