So before I even moved up to San Francisco, one of the things I did was go on Google Maps and figure out where all the stores that I frequent were located. Target was near the top of that list with along Chipotle, Rubio's, Jamba Juice, and 24 Hour Fitness. Yep, that's me in a nutshell. So I looked on the map and there were 2 Targets that looked like they were in spitting distance of each other, one in Serra Monte and one in Colma. So when I finally got around to checking them out (I think about 6 hours after I moved up here) I saw that one was nice and shiny and new, in a mall with lots around it, and one looked like it was built before I was born and was next to a Sizzler and a dentist's office. Now it's cool that Target gives you options, and sure they serve two separate cities, I guess... but seriously? Who at Target corporate decided this was a good idea? I mean if the one in Serra Monte is better-equipped, move the one in Colma somewhere else rather than having two gigantic discount retailers that sell pretty much the EXACT same thing across the street from each other. I know that both stores revenues go to the same place, but it's got to be financially inefficient to have both these stores so close... Why am I ranting about this? I don't know... just go to the one in the Serra Monte shopping center. It's better. If they don't have what you need, then go to the one in Colma and you can reward your perseverance with an $8.95 steak at Sizzler. read more

I can't believe I'm actually reviewing Target -- but I am.. and its my ULTIMATE FAVORITE store .... ever. You get the point. I seriously go to Target at LEAST twice a wk. What can I say.. they really have everything you need.. Now, I really don't have much to say about customer service here just because I've never really needed help finding anything .. since everything is pretty much easy to find.. but, the cashier ladies are always nice! :) I love the fact that they constantly remodel the store to make it look even better than before. Their products are high-quality.. and they are starting to have an amazing line of clothing -- working with high end designers and all! Now... you really get how great Target is, right? Good.. cause its amazing. I tend to usually go to this one .. the one at Tanforan is a bit messy for me & it gets a bit crazy there with the lines. PLUS this Colma Target closes later than most of the Target in my surrounding area. The other Target I'd recommend is Foster Citys -- super huge & sparkly clean! This Target location is excellent, they have an awesome food court area with a Starbucks and a Pizza Hut Express, and I absolutely love their Icee station, it always has at least 5 flavors running at a time. If you come here, be sure to check out their weekly specials board as well as their $1 area, you can find many great items at affordable costs. read more

I personally think this target is better than the Serramonte one. Not sure if it's bigger but it seems like it and much less crowded and dirty. I came here to look for a charcoal peel mask (lol) and they didn't have any. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed off about that but whatevs; that's what amazon is for. So I was trying to find a carseat for my son. I wanted a specific color. The other target mentioned they had it here. 3 of them. We drove from Foster city to Colma. I asked someone to assist me. I asked questions about it. They didn't have an answer. They didn't have it. So I had no choice but to get get a different color carseat. I grab the carseat. Seems like nobody cared and not even other employees. Usually when they see a lady carrying a carseat with no cart and an old man limping with a cane. They should assist asap. Nope. No care in the world. This is the last time I would come to this Target. When I was in San Diego, at least someone assisted and helped out carrying the carseat to our car. read more

The target connected to the mall may be a little more crowded but hands down this target is always dead. Why? Because things are always more expensive. Bought a few pillows at the target connected to the mall for 9.98 each, came to this target to buy two more and found out that it's 13.98! Asked the manager for the price difference and all she did was give attitude and said we don't honor price differences. Seriously, you're only a block away. How do you jack up the price that much? I ended up talking to corporate and they basically said the same thing, they only do price adjustments for competitive store prices or from weekly ads. While I still don't fully understand why there are two Targets directly across the freeway from each other (orig Target and mall Target), there remains no question in my mind of which Target I will head to when I need to raid the $1 bin/party supply section for a care package or purchase some cheap yet awesome clothing. Since the remodel, I am a little bummed that there is only 1 door (there used to be one on either side of the store), but I admit that is because I am occasionally lazy. Now that this is a SUPER Target, I can pick up my makeup (I swear by the Sonia Kashuk tinted moisturizer) AND a snack! There is also a Starbucks in this Target, for you caffeine fiends. 1 star less for the sparkling clean-ness that I'm used to in Pasadena. Howeva, damn did these Target employees at this store go to Target University? Service here was fuckin amazing. We would never see the quality of this service I got today from any Target down south. First of all, if you were in LA you would assume that these store people would not understand what you are asking for even though they speak perfect English. If the request is complicated, after talking to 2 dumb people you would talk to dumb but power tripping, usually gross women supervisors and still wouldn't get your shit resolved. These people at this store looked for the stuff I needed that wasn't on the shelf with a small hand held computer, and knew how to use them, and politely found me the stuff, went to the back and brought it out. There was a large piece of poop in the middle of the aisle. A POOP! My sister accidentally stepped on it, and when we went to complain, we found out that the workers were already informed of the piece of feces just laying there but failed to do anything about it. They didn't even bother helping us. We asked if they had any tissue to wipe it off her shoe, and the workers just looked at us. They stood there clueless on what to do with it. Ridiculous. read more

I love the extended aisles and how I can get lost in them for hours, literally. Most of all, I love your new shopping carts. In all fairness, I should be reviewing the San Mateo location at Bridgepointe Shopping Center. I worked around the corner from it for 6 years and was a faithful visitor weekly. OK, the reason why I'm yelping about Colma and not Bridgepointe is because I still have terrible memories of visits here when this location first opened. It was the first Target opened so close to San Francisco. I vividly remember walking my cart into the store from the parking lot. Within 20 steps, BAM! A woman rams her cart into the back of my heel. I make it into the store. Limp almost gone and then WHAM! Geez, not again. Clash of the Shopping Carts, part II. A quarter-full cart and another woman slams her cart into me. THREE times in LESS than an HOUR. Don't these women know most sequels, especially movies, suck? There are only so many words that rhyme with ram that can accurately describe such a traumatic experience. Once Bridgepointe opened, I avoided Colma like the plague for at least 8 years. I went for the first time a few years ago, shortly after the store converted to a Greatland location. Meaning extremely cheap frozen food and basic groceries. Bridgepointe converted about 2-3 years later. Which meant if i wanted the cheap Yoplait yogurts, Planters nuts, and Stouffer's dinners, I had to suck it up and go to Colma. Remember NOT to wear sandals or open-toed shoes. Fast forward to last year. While I no longer fear crazed females in red shopping carts, Colma tends to run low or out of my staple items (yogurt, favorite brands of toothpaste, saline solution, cleaners, etc.) often. Formerly a Gemco (anyone else remember that store?) this Target location has been here since the 90's. Ya, I'm pretty friggin old. LOL! I've given them my hard earned cash for years and will continue to do so. I especially like the fact that they have upgraded and now offer a grocery section (as has every other Target store). Quite honestly, I prefer to do my grocery shopping here as I find myself spending less for grocery items as I would at an actual grocery store. Granted, the selection is fairly limited but it's not an issue with me. The staff....eh...it's a retail store so I don't expect much from them. Minus 1 star for the idiotic parking design which I've expressed in my other Daly City based business reviews. "Compact Car" spaces galore near the front of the store while those with king size vehicles are forced to park waaaaay in the back of the lot. All parking spaces should be the same size for every type of vehicle. Again, I shouldn't be penalized for not driving a weak ass Smart Car or a fuckin rice rocket. read more

I dont freakin' understand how I walk in here for say toilet paper ($12 or so).... and walk out with another $88 dollars of other "crap"... its not really "crap" ... its just extra stuff... And you all know what I mean... So I shop at Target sometimes... and with all the locations on the Peninsula... make sure you make every effort to go to this one ...(in Colma... in case you did not notice) They are more up to date and much more organized here...dont expect much service, but who cares... its really a place to push your cart around and when its full ... go to the checkout... it works... enough said... read more

My favorite Target! They usually have items in stock that some other locations don't have, and the customer service is great. I love being able to smell the freshly-made popcorn near checkout. The Starbucks inside this location is a little bigger than ones in other locations. Parking is always easy to find. read more

Ok, I like this Target better than the other one in Daly City and San Bruno because I feel like it has a bigger selection. If I was rating it for that reason only I would give this place 4 stars. Otherwise the people running the fitting room are some of the worst employees I have ever seen. I had 9 items to bring in the fitting room, and the limit is 6. I left 3 pieces with the women like she told me to, but when i went to get them she acted like I was stupid and had no idea what I was talking about. Then she said they had put all the clothes back. I never thought this would happen to such a store that I enjoyed. I bought some LEGO over $50 and was issued a $10 gift card. It turns out that the gift card does not work when I added it few weeks later. I tried going to the store, called the gift card hotline, email and live chat, despite them having all the information. And the funny thing is the so called research team came back after more than a week and mentioned, oh because I got a $5 discount (because of another gift card promotion), therefore the $10 discount is voided. $10 equals to $5? Oh and don't bother escalating to the management, they are just as inept or not interested in resolving this issue for average Joes like me. Please check your gift card immediately after getting it. I remember going to this location when I was a kid and thinking this store was big. I'm grown up and I still think this target location is big. Anyway I have to say the return policy is awesome. I bought some curtains that were a bit short for my window. I panicked since I lost my receipt, but their website said that returns could be done without a receipt. Luckily I paid with a credit card so they were able to look up my order and give me a refund. As easy as that. No re-stock fee too. read more

One of the larger Target locations I've been to, and it is opposite another large Target which happens to be in Daly City's Serramonte Center, interestingly enough. Lately, every single time I've visited this store, there have been dogs inside the store who are obviously NOT service animals. Dogs are allowed to be on loose leash and/or placed inside carts. On one occasion, a dog on loose leash on the floor was barking and growling at a child. This is clearly not a characteristic of a trained service dog. No one monitors the store to ensure compliance with the laws that regulate animals inside premises where food is stored or prepared. I have brought this to the attention of the store manager each time and am told that they're not allowed to ask whether or not an animal is a service animal. This is a very weak response. There are legal questions that can be asked to verify whether or not an animal is a service animal that do not intrude on a person's medical privacy rights. The last time I spoke to a manager about this, she said, "That's not my responsibility; that's for loss prevention to handle." What?? Target needs to post a notice re: pets inside their stores, and their attorneys need to do some research and train their managers/employees how to enforce the laws that regulate animals inside their stores. We have the highest standard of health in this country that the world has ever known. Those who violate the laws that are designed to protect our health threaten us. Target needs to uphold its responsibility to contribute to the well being of its employees and customers by complying with the law. read more

Thought I'd weigh in on the Colma Target Greatland vs. Serramonte Target debate. I'm not exactly sure of the reasons, but I have to side with the Colma location. Maybe it's the sense of nostalgia--this was the first Target we happened to hit the day after we arrived in SF after a move from Texas. And $300 worth of crap later, we formed a special bond with this location. I've been to the Serramonte store twice. It's just not the same for me. [A tear runs down the reviewer's cheek.] I do agree that the parking situation seems better at the Colma store. We buy as many groceries as we can here and then finish up at our Safeway in the city. It saves money! And that is good for the environment. read more

"I tried to walk into Target, but I missed. Damn." Oh Target, if that was only the case....Tar-get has pretty much all your needs, for low prices. And it never fails, I walk in for ONE thing, and I come out with 20. What can I say, I love the shopping here. So the target here is decent in my opinion. Not much to complain about a place like this. They carry all your needs from household goods, to food, clothes, and electronics. I like it because it carries all the variety of items I need on my errands list, and the prices are cheaper than most places...and you get quality stuff! I really like this Target, and definitely prefer it to the Serramonte Target, which is just too cramped and busy. There's tons of parking here and it's very easy to get to from any direction. I also love the Starbucks inside, where you also get 5% off with your Target Redcard! Sometimes it can be difficult to track down staff members, as the place isn't usually busy but it is quite spacious. I've also had a few experiences where their sale signs aren't totally accurate or don't correspond to the product they're in front of, so that's been slightly irritating. However, I think their new layout is great and it's easy to get in and out. I'm glad this is the Target closest my house! read more

Not paying attention on I-280, I found myself taking the wrong exit and inextricably ending up at this Target store. I was going to buy cat food for the masters of the house, seeing as they only eat the premium brand of Fancy Feast food. To my delight, Target was having a sale on said brand, so each can cost 69 cents instead of the usual 85 cents. When you buy 40 cans a pop, this adds up! Unfortunately, I had a shopping cart. In a place like Target, it's a practically a magnet for stuff that you don't need or didn't know you didn't need. In my search for the pet section, I walked by a HUGE Christmas decorations/supplies section. Almost like a stream of consciousness, a recent news show on LED Christmas lights flashed into my head. Hmmmm, I wondered, do they have them? There were about 6 different varieties of LED Christmas lights. Almost against my will, I bought 4 boxes. While heading to the checkout stands, I saw men's pj's on sale. Again, almost against my will, sleep pants flew into the cart. I finally made it to the checkout stand and surrendered my credit card. Luckily, I didn't have to go too far into the store or the damage would have been higher. The store is laid out well and there's plenty of parking. What is missing is self control on my part! read more

I originally wrote this review for the Daly City Target, not realizing it was the one in Colma I visited: Okay, not really much of a review, as more of a comment. I can't remember if I went to this Target, or the one up the street. I felt like I was in Napa again, with the Targets so close together like that. I live across the Bay, so I already have a local Target. I just happened to be out doing errands in this part of the Bay, and went in during their January 2 sales. I was surprised it wasn't very busy, and then later on I realized it was because there was another Target up the street. I like that they have a strict return policy. Considering how some stores repackage used items that people try to return, this is a plus (and Ew! to the the Yelper who returned a hair clipper he didn't "need" anymore--do you return nail clippers weekly?). The place is not very well laid out. The signage wasn't too visible enough to know exactly where anything is without walking around in circles first. And the place seemed kind of tired, like it had seen much better days. read more

Target is great for stocking up on stuff you didn't know you needed! I always walk out with greeting cards, wrapping paper, decorative items from the latest designers, and who knows what else. Most recently I had to check out the Boots collection from England - it's the best drugstore in England with tons of amazing, fruity and other scented shower gels, lotions, and all sorts of good things to keep you clean and smelling yummy! The Boots collection at Target wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, but they do have some nice and inexpensive gift packages. Ah Target stores. So fun and yet so dangerous ($ spending that is). It's good for basics and inexpensive trendy items but I like how cool looking some things are like accessories (pillows, lamps, organzing things). I prefer the Colma store - the one inside Serramonte-forget it! Overrun with overzealous shoppers who will run you over with their carts and 10 kids. I also like the San Mateo/Foster City one which is far but I like how un-crowded it is, spacious even.
