I was at Michaels to pick up a few things. While there, I found the store to be sloppy. There were hardly any paint brushes. It was difficult for me to get into some of the isles because there were boxes stacked up high; lawsuit for fallen merchandise. The fabric department looked trashed. While In line to pay for items, a cashier was complaining loudly about customers who were having a difficult time with self checkout; not all customers are computer savvy. There are security cameras throughout your store. You should be able to see evidence that I am writing about. read more

Ridiculous experience! I was looking for a small item, found it several places online but Michael's was the only one that listed it as in stock. Great, I'll buy it from a brick and mortar store and get it same day! Placed the order and received a message saying they'd tell me when it's ready. 24 hours later still no message, so I just drove to the store thinking "surely it's out by now, they said it was in stock!" Item wasn't on the pickup shelf, so I asked the person working there (who was delightful and tried her best, 1 star review definitely doesn't apply to her) if she could help me track it down. She said the pickup orders being put on the shelves aren't really organized so there was no way to look for it. Great. Since the item was supposedly in stock, I asked if we could just go get one off the shelf. She said yes and went to grab it for me, returned 10 minutes later to say it wasn't there. I asked why this would be the case if it's listed as in stock, she replied that the delivery truck just dumps everything in the back and at that point it gets scanned as in stock, but that they have no idea where any specific item actually is. Great system! Finally gave up and went home to wait for them to email me, got an email ~4-5 hours later telling me my order had been canceled. If I had just ordered from Amazon the item be arriving around now, glad I instead opted to try to keep this disaster store in business. FYI something similar happened the one other time I shopped at this location a year or two ago, whole experience was a mess. MICHAELS is a good arts and crafts supply store in the Serra side in Daly City for holidays, school projects, or everyday crafts project supplies like baking & decorating supplies, scrap booking, sewing, knitting, embroidery, or art project supplies like brushes, canvases, mediums like paints, charcoal, pencils, inks and more. Service is not very good throughout the store, 1) hard to find someone, 2) and if they can even help, and, 3) the check out lines can be long and tedious especially during special events like Halloween or seasonal holidays. Though one bright spot, I've used their custom framing services to have a vintage portrait reframed and it came out great, at a good price, and done well. It helps to stick with the same staff member for selection, ordering and pick up. Bonus was it didn't cost an arm and a leg for the beautiful new frame with archival mat and a UV-blocking glass or acrylic! Framing department earns 4-5 stars!!! Remember shop Michaels' with your list of supplies needed, maybe go early in the day or late afternoon, and with a great degree of patience! read more

This store refused to honor a return because "their system was down". Why is that my problem? You're adults, manually process the return. I'm within your published policy, and California law is clear you have to honor a return. I just did a chargeback with my credit card company so they took the money back and returned it to me. Just left here. I was waiting in line and didn't want to use self check out because I wanted to be helped by an associate. This white girl that works there said "i can help you with self check out I said no and as I waited to be rang up by a person there was this short philippine or asian woman who was checking a customer out and after she finish she walked away from her register just to stand there instead of helping me. Then the other associate said I can help you. I asked about the 50% off sale on the Ashland cups and she had let me know it was not on sale and featured it was the small ones. Put in an order for pickup. Their pickup orders are all on some shelves on the right side when you walk in and it's completely self-service - you just look for your name, take the package and go. Definitely some room for theft here but it seems to work for them. Except I couldn't find my order for a while and there were a couple of store associates who walked by as I was looking around and didn't offer any help. I had to proactively flag someone down and then they explained that for whatever reason, my order was not available on the shelf and they had to get it for me. I also wanted to buy some child scissors while I was here but unfortunately, they were completely sold out. There were some other arts and crafts activities that I think my kids would enjoy though so I'll likely come back and peruse when I have some more time. read more

Every time I come to this location I get met with attitudes and people who don't care to help, that's if you can find them. What finally led me to leave this review was the employee named SHAWN. I wanted to buy something with cash but all the self service machines only take card. So I seen Shawn at the order pickup area and asked him if he could help since the machines don't take cash. This alone must've annoyed him because he replied with attitude saying he'd be there in a minute. I continue to wait, about 30 seconds go by and somebody asks him about the pricing for an item. He proceeds to talk with the guy, scan the item, and by now it's been about 2 minutes. THEN Shawn walks right past me and proceeds to help another customer right next to me at the self service station. Once he's finished with that guy he starts to walk towards yet another person at the self service station which at that point I had enough. I literally raised my voice and called him out for his behavior. Stating I've been waiting for him to help and he's just walking around helping everyone but me. This is my go-to place for anything arts and crafts related. Honestly, you'll find a lot of stuff here that you never knew you needed until you walked around. They have a lot of baking and decorating supplies but a little pricy for me. They have a lot of paints to choose from if you're painting a piece or working on a project for school. The people who work here are super helpful if you have any questions or need help finding anything. The store is kept pretty organized and clean. I think it's pretty easy to find stuff. I highly recommend going here. They used to offer various classes from cake decorating and stuff. Not sure if they still do post-covid. read more

With a name like that you know its creative. I needed a flag display case and my mum (with British accent) suggested this place. I was really happy she did because I don't remember the last time I was in a craft store. I think the Closest would be a Walmart (I know you read all my Walmart reviews). Anyway walking around you get more then just yard or fabric or needles. There's stickers, mugs, holiday decorations, school stuff, etc etc. Really a nice collection of stuff you can rediscover. This store is employed by a bunch of kids that don't want to help with shit! It's insane! Michael's is pushing their balloon services now that party city is gone but they do NOT make it easy to pre order the balloons. I've walked in with an empty line and empty store and yet still waited 45 minutes for two big number balloons. They don't even want to ring you up they want you to use self service, will roll their eyes if you ask for them to help you versus using their kiosks. I just wanted to speak out of my experienced today at michaels near serramonte. Last night i purchased 3 balloons but i forgot to ask if i can get it inflated with helium for that night because we were rushing and it was already 8:30PM to closing. Today i went in and asked if i can get it inflated and the customer service has told us they can't provide this service if i dont have the receipt. So i did my best to see if there's another alternative so I pulled my purchases from my bank, reach my phone to this person and being nice but it felt like this person didn't care because of how she was facing us. She kept talking to another associate which didn't feel pleasant at all. They then repeated again that she cannot provide this service because she can't go by some numbers, yes i understand but while saying this she wasn't even facing me and felt like she has an attitude. Me and my dad had bought some frames that turned out to be super flimsy and bad quality so I went to return them (btw I had a receipt and everything) When returning them, the employee (Paul-Anthony,, I don't usually call out names but this guy was super rude and I would leave the store if I had to buy something and saw him running the register) at the counter argued with us and told us that I didn't make any sense and said "what did you expect". I expected the frame to not fall apart??? He rolled his eyes at me and called his manager, who was also a douche and argued about the return until he decided to honor it. When honoring it, he said that he will allow this return, but if I buy more frames and they don't work out that he won't allow me to return them. My dad asked "even if the other frames also turn out bad quality/falling apart we can't return them??" And the manager said "yes, if you come back to return another frame at all even in that shape, we will not honor it" WHAT?? I read their policy and that is not a part of your return policy. And if it's damaged?? So I need to just keep a damaged product?? And No where did it say you cannot come back and return another faulty item you bought after returning a faulty item. That's the manager being irritated with us for returning a cheaply made crappy frame, not just accepting it/taking it, and not wanting to deal with us anymore. Both the manager and his employee (named Paul-Anthony) insulted us, argued with us horribly at the register, and went against the return policy because they were in a bad mood and didn't want to deal with us. I came in for some ornaments, I saw online that they had eight available of the set that I wanted. I took a walk around the store first to see if I could see them myself without having to ask an employee. But after no luck of finding them, I asked a young lady if she can help me find them. She seemed confused and started walking in the direction of all the Christmas decorations., there she found another employee who was an older gentleman, probably in his 30s or 40s and she asked him about where the sets of ornaments would be. He said that they were in front the other day and went there and then came back and said that they probably ran out. he didn't even bother to ask which ones in particular I was looking for. But when I told him that online it said there were 8 in stock he then proceeded to tell me that sometimes their stock is not correct online as it is in store. Then they went to the register to see if there was any sets that were left over that other people didn't end up purchasing. The young lady then came and gave me a set of ornaments, but it wasn't the one that I wanted. To which I was still grateful for because at least I was able to get a set. I took another look around the store just to be sure because the employees didn't look when I asked them other than the two spots. And when I walked around the second time, I found the end cap that had the sets that I was looking for, and there was multiple. So I'm happy that the stock online was correct for in store and I didn't come to Michael's for no reason. But training your employees to have better customer service would make the experience nicer so that customers don't feel like they're being brushed off or bothersome for asking a question. I know that it's during the holidays and it can be pretty busy, but being in the customer service industry, you should make it a priority to make your customers feel like you are trying at least. read more

Find the ones you need but still hard to use and put together. Can't win here. Needed a big frame for a 20x27 puzzle, so I purchase the 20x28 first and omg! I regret not getting bigger, so I did the next time. Wasn't on sale. Around $18. This time, I think it was a bogo deal, I then purchased 22x28 as there were no 21x28. 22x28 left some gaps which I'm fine with. Nice frame, sturdy enough, lightweight. But I hate how the back fits. It's hard to remove the back out and even HARDER to put it back in. It's not they don't want use to frame anything. After you take out the back board, it's like the board is too big and I had to punch it in. Which caused the board to chip all on one side. But thankfully no one looks at the back. read more

I love this Michael's location, although I actually do not think there are many locations in general so thankfully this upon the few is very decent! This Michael's is huge, organized, and seems to be pretty stocked for the most part. A lot of stores barely have in-store items as most everything is sold online for some reason, but Michael's has a lot of its items in stores!! Michael's has the BEST coupons and are sent very often!! Plenty of parking from a shared parking lot, and this plaza has a lot of stories too (including a Target). Note, this Michaels looks like they have a summer camp type of program for kids. This place is understaffed and it's almost impossible to find someone to help. I bought a few canvas packs that were on sale... when I went to pull them out of the car, one of them was apparently damaged, I went to return/replace the item and the manager JOLENE refused. I purchased several items that day and scanned them myself in self checkout, it is likely one may have been damaged in the cart and I did not realize because of the tag being on the other side and the way they were stacked. The manager wanted to hear none of this and continued refusing and rudely informing me that it was my responsibility to check each item before leaving the store. I started to have an attitude and was completely bewildered why this woman was in management at all. I am livid. My experience last night at Michael's located in Colma, CA was okay. When I asked a question, the assistance I got was be directed where to find a particular size frame. Not the worse customer service, just not very attentive. Today, I called the same store an asked about an ad saw showing a sales price. The advertisement was about my specific picture frame being half off if bought online, or buy one and get one free. So, I asked if I could get an adjustment, but was told no. The conversation just got worse, leaving me feeling guilty for not "seeing" their signs. Apparently they're posted throughout the store, mentioning the sales and bargains being offered. Came in for some baking supplies and decorations and was greeted right away by the checkout person. What a great way to start my shopping experience! I came at a great time because the end of summer clearance just started and there were baking decorations and supplies on sale! It's hard to come in for one thing and end up with many things. Got a great haul of sprinkles and sanding sugars for cupcakes and cookies! Managed to walk around the store to check things out and they were stocked up on a lot of items. There were plenty of workers available to ask questions if I needed to but I didn't. Checking out was quick and efficient as I went during a weekday. Been to Michaels on several occasions specifically for framing and they never disappoint. Parking is no problem in the vast private parking lot. Store seems very well kept and clean which is a big kudos to the management and employees who have to handle all the little knick knack stuff from ending up in other places such as on the floor or different aisles. Customer service is great and courteous. Especially in the framing area. I used to go to Aaron bros for custom framing so i was hesitant to go here because i was so used to the work provided there. However i learned that a lot of the framers transferred over and the quality and skill in the framing shows. I would definitely recommend bringing your artwork, photos, flyers, or sports memorabilia to be framed or boxed here. Prices are super fair for the quality you get.
