There are not many Hallmark stores around which is so sad. I like sending a special card for birthdays, weddings, retirements, etc., the e-cards seem so bland. This is a decent size Hallmark. Most of the ones have been much smaller as rental spaces in malls have gotten so expensive. Sadly, I've noticed more businesses vacating the Tanforan mall. The mall has been sold and will be demolished eventually, so why would a business renew their rent and stay here. The staff here are pretty nice and if they close after the Xmas season, I hope the owner opens another in SF or closer. I hate having to order online and paying for shipping. They used to have a shop in Stonestown and their old space is available and there are plenty of other spots. I'll miss looking at the cute annual Christmas ornaments too. read more

I didn't get to meet the eponymous 'Steve' but nonetheless enjoyed browsing round his shop When I'm on holiday in San Francisco, I usually stay near SFO and Tanforan Mall is one of my usual hangouts. I like to pick up some gifts and cards from Hallmark to take home to the UK. We don't have Hallmark shops over the pond and I can find unique things to take home with me I do like their selection of Christian greeting cards, which can be hard to find iback home Thanks, Steve! read more

This Hallmark is located in Tanforan Mall.The size is a pretty decent and there is a lot of variety. I have never had trouble finding the cards I am looking for. The employees are generally pretty friendly. There was a time when I entered the store almost at closing. Two of the employees were at the entrance and helped me find what I needed. One thing that I particularly like about this Steve's Hallmark is the birthday gift card set. It comes in a pack of ten with five designs at two cards each. This comes in handy for me, especially in months where there are a lot of people who have birthdays. It saves me time instead of having to purchase each card individually. With my rewards cards, I often get special dicounts and offers. For my birthday and even half birthday, I get a coupon to have 20% off a purchase, a long with a little gift. Whenever I'm at this mall, you can count on me to drop by Hallmark. read more

Best place to buy cards. I use to go to the location at Stonestown before it closed. But, this location is decent. I think the selection of cards might be a bit more here. You definitely have to take your time when here because it is easy to get distracted with all the other items in the store. The have not only cards but wrapping paper, bags, ribbons, snow globes, figurines, and candles to name just a few of their items. The ladies that work here are also very sweet. They always make sure I use my coupons and my card when I come here. I always appreciate that. When it comes to holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries this place meets most of the needs. Came to this store today and I will never return again. Horrible customer service and this old lady is racist! My daughter was holding a card while I shopped but I ended up getting another card. When I checked out she asked if I were going to get the card my daughter was holding earlier. I said no cuz I decided to get the other two cards but I told her I already returned the card to where it was supposed to be. Unbelievably, she told me to go back and get that card so she can inspect! Wtf! I know how to discipline my child old lady! I tried to keep my cool, but after I left the store, i was so pissed off. I shouldn't even have bought the other two cards! This old lady totally humiliated me and my child. Totally racist and bad customer service here. Don't come here because you will be watched throughout the whole time you are in the store and will be disrespected by the staff! read more

I can literally spend over an hour in the musical cards section which I did the other day. The salesperson was nice and really friendly to my companion and I. She didn't rush us out of the store as we played literally every card that was in stock containing the musical chip. On top of that, they had a 20% discount for everything you could fit into a paper bag. Seeing as we all know cards take very little space, the discount made a huge difference. read more

Horrible service. I am a collector and my sister got me a duplicate of snoopy christmas singers. well needless to say I tried to return it first thing 12/26 and the store manager would not, but right in front of me another employee returned an ornament for another customer even though the claim was they were not returning any christmas merchandise. They offered to return it w/40% off even though I had the receipt that I paid full price, and only for a store credit. What a rip off. My family spends alot of money at Steve's throughout the year, but after this not another penny. I will be returning all of the non-christmas gifts. I have contacted Hallmark corporate. The owners would not return my calls and have still not called me back. read more

Don' t get me wrong, I love Hallmark stores in general. This one is conveniently located in Tanforan mall above the food court. There's a wide selection of cards, and decent selection of other fun things to buy as gifts. But I have yet to experience good and genuinely friendly customer service at this location. The employees are all a little short in their responses, watching the clock, and making sure they're talking to each other at the counter instead of helping the customers on the floor. They seem to look down their noses at you if you use a coupon. I personally do shop here when I'm in a pinch or happen to be at the mall when i remember I need a card. But otherwise I choose to go elsewhere because of the lack of customer service and friendly atmosphere. read more

Border line offended by the terrible customer service I had Wednesday when they opened at 10. I'm giving this store 2 stars because they have a large selection of great products, but everything else is down hill.. As a former hallmark employee I fully understand the rules of a return. I came in to return a HALLMARK product and unfortunately lost the receipt. I asked the employee closet to the cash register if I could return it and when I said I had lost the receipt she basically rolled her eyes and said "well then you can only get store credit" in such a rude manner.. I told her that's totally fine. She had me sign a receipt including my address (I used my business address since the purchase was for my business) when she asked for my I.D. she again rolled her eyes when she noticed the address didn't match my home address. She also sniffed the product (as I mentioned I worked at hallmark..I get it) but as a customer it was just really bizarre (hallmark you should work on that policy..) When everything was said and done I said thank you and she didn't say anything back!!! You have one job. It's the mall. Be nice to customers. It's not hard. read more

My mom was buying a retirement present for a coworker, so we decided to get a mug, we were going to get the one on display because it was in really good condition, the lady there went to the back got a box that had " the same mug but in better condition " we got home, and when my mom opened the box, it was all cracked and pieces had fallen off. Shouldn't they take initiative and open the box before giving it out to a customer? Common sense. read more

This hallmark is one of the best i have ever been to! They have the sweetest salespeople . They dont feel like they are rushing you and arn't those annoying stores that as soon as you walk in the door thye are all over you asking you if you need help finding anything. THey always have the store neat and are very helpful for when i need suggestions for gifts. They have a great selection! however make sure to go later on at night because the manager is usually not there, at least i never see her when im there, and she is rude. She makes me feel like i need to rush and get out of the store and comes off as someone who looks down on all the customers as well as some of her employes. I had asked one lady to gift wrap even though they don't, but she said since there was no one else in the store she would do it for me. When the maanger saw her she said that she wasnt aloud to do that. SHe said im almost done so she finished. As i was about to leave, the manager Grabbed her by her by the arm and took her to the back and yelled at her loud enough for me to hear her! THis was completly unprofesional and i believe that was very rude and i regret not going back and telling her. Despite that one issue, it is a delightful store that i always shop at, just at night! read more
