I can always be assured that this Lego store is clean, has its nice displays and for the most part will have the item I'm looking for in stock. (unless the item is REALLY in demand!) Today, the item I was looking for was available; however it was located in one of the unreachable shelves and the box in front was slightly damaged. I asked Nalla, a Lego store rep if she could please assist in me getting the item AND helping me look at the multiple boxes to choose the one with the least amount of scratches/dings. He also had genuine enthusiasm as he was answering my questions and helping me grab the Starry Night Lego set while we continued to browse the store. This store is well stocked! My husband said he wanted some Porsche Lego set months ago, and 24 hours before his birthday, it dawned on me that I should get the man a gift. In my defense, I'm still in new baby fog and my head still isn't screwed on straight! Anyway, online showed the Hillsdale location having the set in stock, but I called beforehand to confirm that this was true. Once I heard that they did have the item in stock, I left my baby with my husband and raced over to Hillsdale to buy the gift. I need to look at my receipt to figure out who helped me, but he was awesome. He greeted me as soon as I came in, got the set for me, rang me up, made polite and easy conversation, and sent me on my way. I was in and out in under five minutes. The customer service here is fantastic! The staff is helpful and friendly. A special shout out to store manager Kevin who went above and beyond what he needed to do when helping me out with a prior purchase. This store is not big but the selection is good. The store is very popular every time I have walked by or gone in. My toddler son is getting into the age where he has graduated from Duplo blocks and getting into the regular Lego pieces and kits. My kiddo always makes it a point to stop in here to check out what's new in LEGO land. Even when I'm alone I walk in out of pure curiosity (or for a new LEGO keychain). We were greeted right as we entered and I began browsing the Architecture LEGOs (heart eyes). After walking around this young man named Josh walked up to us and asked what brought us in and if he could help. He engaged with my kiddo discussing favorite mini figurines. He let us know he would be around if we needed help. My kiddo was busily creating mini figurines. There was a sign that said you could build 3 for $9.99. My master builder built 3 and put them each individually in the case and we went to pay. Josh rung us up and asked if I was part of the VIP program and if I'd like to join so I did. During the transaction Josh was interacting with my kiddo giving each other high fives and fist bumps for cool stickers. Josh was very patient, attentive, and friendly throughout our whole visit. My kiddo walked out of the store happy with his creative creations. We will be returning whenever in the area. read more

The staff is very friendly, service oriented and helpful. It's hard to cram all Lego inventory into a small location for variety so they don't always have the rare ones. But that's not the staffs fault, that's on the business. I love that they sanitize every night, I've seen them do it when I'm just outside after they close. I'm hoping that this store never leaves the mall ever. Never close it. There's nothing like a dedicated lego store in person where you can be helped by lego experts. But what the company should do is to protect their pricing so people don't outsource their legos in other stores. And that's not on the staff nor this branch, but I hope it gets emphasized and brought to the higher ups. read more

I've often thought of quitting my current position in a Fortune five hundred company, releasing me of all the stress that comes with a high paying job, just to work at a place like this. Sure, they won't pay me six figures here, but then again, I'd be surrounded by Legos and happiness. They have rows and rows of Legos, organized by themes such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Marvel Comics (Iron Man, Spiderman, etc.) I imagine my day would be filled with helping people to find Lego sets, and why not, I'm just as knowledgeable as the associates who work here, and I imagine them calling my name to build the big display cases that line the windows. And I would get to wear that funny yellow apron that would make me look like a Lego chef. Everyone that I see around me in this store looks so happy. We just left the store fuming. When we first walked in, multiple sales reps practically stalked us asking what we were looking for. We politely declined and ultimately chose two items totaling over $500. Since we had other shopping to do and these boxes were heavy, we asked the sales woman to hold the items we paid for. When we returned, another sales person pointedly told us that they don't hold items, and had the nerve to "assure" us that it wasn't our fault. Not only was his "clarification" of this policy completely pointless given we were retrieving the items, it was also rude to us and embarrassing to the poor sales woman whose "mistake" he was correcting in front of the entire store. Until last Halloween when some friends invited us to go trick-or-treating in Hillsdale Shopping Center and Ichabod saw the Lego Store for the first time. *cue angels singing, clouds parting* He practically dropped his jack-o-lantern - he could give a rat's ass about Halloween candy - and ran open-mouthed into the store. The Lego staff very wisely handed out stickers and a Lego catalog, which he flipped through excitedly, pointing out, "I want this, this, and this." He hadn't realized Legos were available in that many varieties. On a solo visit, a Lego sales associate helped me find which Lego set would meet our needs best. They didn't carry a separate Lego carrying case that I was looking for, so I bought a plastic toolbox at a hardware store and made my own. My boyfriend is going through this Lego kick right now... The inner child in him is definitely coming through. It started with the Formula Off-Roader purchased at Target. He finished that model within an hour, so we decided this weekend to get another one and work on it together (although to be honest, I wasn't as dedicated to it as he was). We walked in to the brightly colored store looking for the Wheel Loader, but ended up getting the 24 Hour Race Car instead because they didn't have the other. $140 still well spent in my boyfriend's opinion, I'm sure. It's a hobby I can definitely get on board with, as long as he puts ALL pieces into a tupperware like I suggested. I've heard the painful stories... Staff members were extremely helpful. Made sure to come ask us if there was anything they could help us with and were able to point us in the right direction to the technics area. The best is the lego buffet... a virtual Home Depot with every basic piece of Lego construction material any serious self-respecting freestyle lego mason can imagine. $12 to fill up a container the size of a Giant Slurpee, which is a decent buy, considering you can pick and choose the pieces you want. Smaller containers also available. A great place to reminisce, foster your child's creativity, release your inner child, or just pick up a great gift for people of all ages. I understand operations is limited with covid but i went to this store on 7/19 at 2:30pm and there was a sign up that said "be back in 30 minutes". No message on when the staff went fo lunch. Then at 3:05 there were 3 employees that came out from the back. I have no idea why they couldn't stagger their lunches. Myself and 6-7 other people were waiting outside. Ok! Who does not like Lego Stores! I am a grown up but Legos are for everyone! Today I was doing something in the mall and I did not plan to stop by. I found my visit today at the store the best ever and want to make sure I write it hear. I did not purchase anything but still got an experience that went beyond my expectations. My son and boyfriend are a fan of Mario and now that Lego has Mario sets this is a must in my house. Soon they will have a Princes Peach sets! and when I say sets! they are many! And of course I wanted to find out when would they have it available. They immediately greet me and assist me. They had the date in mind and told me just to be sure let me check! Ok that to me is going beyond. Then I ask if they knew if the mall had another elevator! This mall elevator was out of service. They ofter me to walk me to the closest one. I decided to try to push my stroller up the stairs. When they saw me. They went out and ask if I needed help. Like I mention before I am a Lego lover but did not buy any thing that day. I said it is ok! is my gym lol. They told me they could take me to the service elevator. This is an elevator that can only be use by employees but with the manager approval I was allowed to go in it with my baby in the stroller. They took me and even ask if I need it anything else!! this lego store has lots of lego sets to look at. the fancy ones (diagon alley from harry potter, sesame street, etc.) all look so tempting. i visited this store with my daughter a few weeks ago. we were looking for the harry potter minifigure blind bags because my daughter wanted to collect these. the trouble was, i wanted to know what i was getting, and i had no experience with these! one of the clerks noticed we were looking through the box on the shelf, but there weren't many left to choose from. he told us he had another one in the back and took it out for us to go through. then john came by and asked what we needed help with, and we told him we were looking for dumbledore. john is a treasure! he had a lot of expertise with these blind bags and helped us choose one of each of the figures we were looking for. we actually only came in for dumbledore, but he helped us pick out 9 more in that series, all different. the customer service here is fantastic, and everyone is very patient and nice with the kids. i greatly appreciate all of john's help especially. i would never had been able to figure them out on my own. we've since opened 8 of the packages, and they were all different. yay! we have one more to go, and i'm sure john's guess will be spot-on. thank you so much, john! :) read more

Being a mom of school age boys, I have an intimate knowledge and familiarity with lego. Meaning that I am constantly stepping on them. Aside from falling into the toilet in the middle of the night, there is NOTHING as guaranteed to make me as wide awake AND mad in the middle of the night as stepping on the sharp corner of one of those lego bricks! Today, we were getting ready for a birthday party for one of my sons. He decided that he's having a Lego party. All good, right? Well, yes... except that we couldn't find any suitable party favors at the Target or the Toy's R Us by us. And, so, the trek from Walnut Creek to San Mateo, the closest Lego Store to us that we're aware of. It was San Mateo or trek over to Valley Fair in San Jose (not a hardship either). The trip immediately paid for itself, as we were able to come up with perfect party favors -- built from the wall of ala carte bricks (small bucket for $8 and big bucket for $15). Since it's as many as you can fit into the buckets, make sure to strategically pack those buckets. You never know how many little pieces you'll need -- just make sure that you don't step on them later in the middle of the night. read more

For my LEGO-loving daughter, I decided to make stand-up names constructed of LEGOs to mark the place-setting at the dining table for each of her birthday guests. Given that I had little LEGO-building experience, theory quickly collided with practice. How do you make an "S" or an "N" or a "B" or a "Y"? Initially, John began to build one template of each tricky letter that I needed. Then, between customers, Johnny and Desirae helped solved more puzzles. It was great that every child that came in the store was inspired to build their own LEGO names. Unfortunately, they wanted to cannibalize my letters. To combat this, as I completed names, I stuck the finished product in out-of-reach shelves. Finally, after 2 hours, with the help of the three outstanding employees, I completed all the names, paid for my purchases and disappeared into the weekend throngs of shoppers at the mall -- LEAVING SOME OF THE FINISHED NAMES ON THE OUT-OF-REACH SHELVES. John ran through the mall, occasionally asking passersby if they saw a woman carrying a big box of LEGOs. Thankfully, he found me. The whole LEGO store is a roaming Genius Bar. No appointment necessary. No idea too dumb. OUTSTANDING service. read more

LittleQ has finally hit that age where I can really start reliving my childhood through his toys, and none better than Legos. Back when I was a kid, we didn't have no fancy Legos. We had bricks. If you wanted to build an airplane, you used bricks. If you wanted that airplane to have angled wings, you angled the bricks. There were no windshields in our bin. No axles with wheels. Don't even talk to me about steering wheels and the like. Now, you can find all of these parts and more in the "Pick A Brick" wall at the Lego store. $14 gets you a cup with a lid, and it's up to you to choose how you fill it. Here's a tip: the tiny little pieces fit around the bottom edge of the cup nicely. LittleQ and I headed down to the Lego Store to do a little recon, and wound up spending $80. Easy to do. They have most every kit on the market, Pick A Brick, and a bunch of Lego stuff I didn't know I needed so badly (Lego ice cube tray, anyone?). We spent the first hour in the store simply looking at every kit. We pulled the Death Star box down and oohed and aahed over the size of the thing. We pulled the Millennium Falcon box down, and gazed lovingly at it for a long time. While there, we heard the same conversation repeated over and over and over: "Can I see that one daddy? How much is it? Is that a lot? Well how much do I have? Will it buy this?" LittleQ is lucky, he's still running on my dime. We picked a kit for him, found some good valentine's day presents for MamaQ, spent 30 minutes at Pick A Brick, and then headed home. That was on our first visit. We've since been back. I wanted to update my previous review with another glowing review for this specific store and staff! Last month we headed over for the free monthly project. My son was very excited to go! When we arrived however, we found out they had run out of kits within the last 15minutes. My son was disappointed, but (to my great surprise) weathered it quite well. I was so surprised and impressed when a staff member approched us, having gone to the stock room, with a bin of extra pieces. He warned my son that they might not have all the right pieces, but they would do their best to build one from the extras. He got right in there with my son and helped him sort through and find the right stuff. A few minor changes, and we had a finished project and a happy boy in minutes! The 3 custom mini figures for $9.99 is great because they have lots of discontinued pieces from past years! Like the 2007 Aqua Raiders helmet. The only issue from my 7 yr old was: "how come they don't have any good weapons?" They did have Lego chainsaws. John (tall guy with a beard and pony tail) was five star! I spent 3 minutes TOPS in the store. He greeted me right away. I told him I had a 9 year old nephew. He said super Heros?, I said yes, he said price range, I told him. He showed me everything he thought would work. He was very mindful of my price range, added on an extra set ... And I left spending $27 knocking someone off of my list, and I was impressed by the service. Also- there were two people being rang up, and I was the only person in line...
