Nice to still have a local mom and pop candy shop around for kids to run into excitedly. Apparently in the south bay the only candy shop i can find is the chains in the malls - sad. Most importantly this place has my two favorite flavored jelly beans - pomegranate and cherry. Otherwise i have to go to fairfield. They dont have the recent viral candy but it is stocked with your typical sour belts, cola gummies, etc. The owners were also telling me about the latest trend "knead doughs" (??) & sure enough a few kids rushed in to get them. What a cute little spot! Randomly walked in to make change for a large bill. I've been to Broadway Ave in Burlingame many times, but have never been to or really noticed this place. I walked in to be slightly overwhelmed (in a good way) with colors, candy, and toys! When you first step in, there is a large wall of pay-by-the-pound candy, including 40+ flavors of Jelly Belly! There are also bins of other candies, including sour belts, gummies, and chocolate! There are some rules when it comes to getting the candy (ask for a bag, sanitize), so make sure to read the signs. It does seem some of the bulk candy has been there for a while, which was apparent with varying colors/textures of the Jelly Bellys. In addition to candy, there are a ton of games! They have a huge selection of puzzles up front, going all the way to 3,000+ pieces! They also have plush stuffed animals and various other toys and board games. There is a huge wall with LEGO sets, and other forms of treats (candy necklaces, giant lollipops, Jelly Belly dispenser, etc). This is a local/family owned place that has been around for almost 30 years!! We had a nice chat with the owner, John, who runs the store with his wife. They have a ton of certificates and awards on the wall behind the register! Overall, this is a great locally owned spot that is worth the trip! The selection of treats and games are fun to look at, and you'll surely find something that brings back some childhood memories. Whoa I can't believe I've never written a review for this place when I used to bring my niece and nephew here! It's the most magical place, full of and brimming with bulk candies which you can weigh plus also stuff you thought they stop making and also chocolate bars hard to get at many other places and drugstores, eg the dark chocolate nougat toblerone. I love love that it's got a down to earth welcoming honey feel and vibe to it, not fancy pants lol :-) The prices are totally legit, and parking a bit tough. read more

This is a cute shop ran by a cute couple that have been here forever and I'm sad because I just now discovered them! My 6 year old picked out unique candy like a toilet bowl candy and other toy candy that's edible! They are warm and friendly and I keep telling them to open up a shop in East Palo Alto because that's where I moved to! Very cozy candy and gifts shop run by a nice couple. They are very knowledgable and go out of their way to help get novel items if they can. We have gotten cute animal plushies (we found a puppy plushie that looked exactly like a friend's pet! they loved it as a unique present), wooden board games, seasonal European candy for all ages. I have a new friend, Jeero (an UglyDoll). He comes from Nuts for Candy. I found out that he loves cupcakes, so I had to take him home with me. He wanted to tell you a little bit about his store. From Jeero: "My friends and I have so much fun here. First, I have so many friends to play with - not just the giant, regular (like me) and baby UglyDolls but also anything you can think of: owls, puppies, giraffes, meerkats and even wildebeests. We eat ice cream all day and sometimes make ice cream floats if we're feeling less lazy. There are a lot of us but there's also a lot of candy so everyone's really happy. We all love ice cream and candy." Nuts for Candy carries over 500 types of candy. The store is crammed full of candy and toys, including life size animals (called museum pieces) and lots of UglyDolls. The plush owls are adorable and so too are the plush tree trunks and logs you can buy for your plush pets. This could be the largest collection of plush animals in San Mateo County. The candy selection is impressive. I finally found pomegranate Jelly Bellies here and they sell JBs by individual flavor. They also carry imported licorice (from England, Holland, etc.), gummy candies, and old fashioned candy bars like Zagnut and Sky Bar. I also spotted boxes of Fralinger's candies (known for salt water taffy and other boardwalk candies), candy cigarettes, and Wacky Packages. They had not just some of the Jelly Belly Sports Beans but all four flavors, Bernie Botts and the new soda pop JBs that come in soda bottle packaging. At $1.89 for a quarter lb, the prices are the best I've seen. If they don't have something you want, ask the proprietor. He knows his candy and his family has been in business in Burlingame for 27 years. They carry Dreyer's ice cream (lots of flavors). They also carry greeting cards. Nuts for Candy belongs to a friendly Burlingame couple with very lucky children. I often see them in the store with mom or dad, receiving hands-on lessons in candy commerce. Unlike many candy stores, you can actually find a gift for someone here that would seem thoughtful: a stuffed animal, a Clark bar she hasn't had since she was a girl, a box of nice chocolates. I like Nuts for Candy for its unusual candies, ones that either largely disappeared decades or even generations ago, or ones that are imported and hard to find. Sample a chewing gum flavor you haven't tried, or you haven't seen in years (Black Jack or Clove). Watch Flicks slide out of those bright foil tubes onto your palm. Try five different kinds of black licorice. Bring a gummy rat home to hide in the bread box. Nuts for Candy has staples, too: chocolates and truffles, Jelly Bellies of all flavors... Recently they added a little ice cream stand in the back of their store. They also carry plush toys, stickers, and cards. How is it possible to not give a candy store 5-stars? The tiny store is jam packed with all sorts or candies, novelty items and toys. Get a small bag, and fill it up with as many different types of candies for $2.49/0.25lb. It's not cheap if you compare them to walmart or other mass chains; but then again, do you really want to give your kids a pound of sugar? Cute candy and stuffed animal store than any kid will love. When you walk up to the store window, there are lots of different stuffed animals in the window. When you walk inside, there are tons more mini stuffed animals of every creature you can every think of lined up row upon row on the walls and on the shelves in the middle. The candy selection is not as extensive as I've seen as other candy stores though. They do offer Dreyer's ice cream too. The man working there was super friendly and welcomed us. A family run store that believes in great selection, fantastic products and superb customer service. It's a tiny little local place, the kind that I am always happy to stumble upon. They have every kind of toy that you can imagine which harken back to a day before everything was made out of plastic overseas. They really believe in stimulating children's imagination with quality fun. They had many things that were throw backs to my childhood as well as fun new inventions. The name speaks more to the wall of candy than it does the the other 3/4 of the store which is really all about toys. But the wall of candy is not to be missed. They also had candy that called up precious memories of my youth (Skybars!). Don't go in there with a chocolate or sugar craving. What a nice couple that own the store. And what a selection of toys, candy, ice-cream, Japanese erasers. Yes you heard that right. Those erasers that kids are buying up and trading because they're shaped like hamburgers and chihuahuas. My kids have dragged me in here many times to get a toy or eraser and ofcourse ice-cream.
