Very cute, little store filled with Asian snacks and desserts. There's a pastry case, dessert case, and some cold desserts (Melo Melo). I bought a few of the Neighbor Bakehouse pastries including the pandan coconut Mochi cake, curry potato croissant, and ube croissant. I liked the texture of the pastries but two lacked the star flavor. The pandan coconut mochi cake had some coconut flavor and a good smell of pandan but no pandan taste. The ube croissant completely lacked ube flavor. The one item I liked was the curry potato croissant. I'd come back to the store for their good variety of Asian snacks but would skip the pandan coconut Mochi cake and ube croissant. read more

Super cute store and I was thrilled to come by. They had a lot of interesting specialty items that you typically won't find in a grocery store like flavored peanuts, beef chips from Las Vegas, Melo Melo coconut dessert from LA, uji time ice cream, etc. They also had a couple of Hello Kitty collab snacks and a small selection of plushies in the back. They have a case of baked goods by the register. They all looked so good and I wanted to try them all. I bought 3 things: -Furikake beef chips -Pistachio berry croissant -Ube White chocolate chip -unfortunately I didn't get to try this because it was completely molding from the back and starting to show in the front. Only have a photo of the front because I tossed it so fast after opening and seeing the multiple colored back. I called to let them know and they offered me a refund if I came back. I was in around the area just casually browsing until I saw this super kawaii store front and I knew I had to stop by. Inside is an arrange of imported snacks for children AND adults. I feel like typical grocery stores have some Asian snacks but this place is Asian snacks galore. Probably not the best store for children to walk into without parental supervision. A cute little snack store in Millbrae that I always walked by and was amused by the aesthetic of the store, but never went in to take a look. Definitely a nice part of Millbrae considering there's several schools nearby and it's a great place to buy plenty of Asian snacks. They also change their items here and there especially on the front shelf. Before I saw bunch of Sanrio bouquets on the shelf and now it's Pockys and snack boxes. I had to get myself a bottle of Ramu and it's always a nostalgic drink for me growing up in an Asian household. The decor of this store is great and customer service is passable. The Kaws wall art is also pretty cool. Not a whole lot to say other than a great place to also take kids to when you are in the heart of downtown Millbrae. read more

I found out about this place because of batch22 cookies as they sell their pudge cookies here! This cute snack shop offers a lot of unique snacks, candy, gifts, drinks, and pasties/deserts (cookies, fruit mochi, coconut pudding from melo melo, cakes). A lot of the items are from local small businesses as well. I always have a wonderful time checking out their new items and leave with a bag full of goodies! The workers are always super friendly! They even offer samples of their items as well such as the pastries and the candy. This time around I wanted to get their freeze dried candy, however it seemed very popular as most of the items were gone. Luckily they had samples that I could try still, so I really appreciate them for offering me some samples! I like the idea of being able to try a bunch of different flavor KitKats without having to commit to a whole bag. They have jars of candy for you to pick the flavors you want. Never been to LA, but always wanted to try Melo Melo? ... you might want to keep reading. This new cute little snack store located in DT Millbrae carries a variety of curated artisan snacks and drinks. They also have a lot of goods from businesses all over California like Neighborhood Bakehouse, Mackbox Desserts, Batch 22 Bakery, MommyLAs, and all the way from LA - Melo Melo! If you didn't know, Melo Melo is a popular dessert spot in SoCal and they specialize in coconut pudding - not just any coconut pudding, but some of the softest and most fragrant pudding you'll have. Similar to Tong Sui in NorCal. Although it is on the pricier side (prices are a little inflated), I still highly recommend giving it a try! Not sure if it'll be on their shelves for long! There were a lot of popular snacks that I've seen and haven't seen before. Definitely have to pay another visit to scout for new snacks and .. maybe buy all the Melo Melo off the shelves AHAHAHHA. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if you're nearby and looking to replenish your snack stash, then this would be the place. Don't know if there's a school nearby or not, but if there is, I'd imagine it would be packed with kids after school. It was pretty jammed with kids when I came by this weekend. Ponyo Foods have a variety of Asian snacks and their pastries are pretty good! I like the Ube Croissant. I swung by today and noticed they now have spam onigiri, spam musubi and unagi musubi so I got one of each. The unagi musubi is pretty small. All three taste quite bland and needs more sauce. The onigiri is mostly rice and the rice itself is quite dry. I would stick to their pastries. read more

They had me "would you like a sample of the pastries?" Of course! They had Neighbor Bakehouse in SF on Third St. bakery's pastries! No lines. How lucky for Millbrae! My friend got the last hazelnut chocolate. I think we were captured by the whole crunchy hazelnut. Can you believe, that after one day the pastry is still crunchy! Woo wee. I'm so glad none of these places are near me. I would be the star in the Whale movie (in real lifel, reality show). I got the pistachio raspberry pastry. Get to the center to taste the raspberry (very little) but it had some almond paste. It's the roasted pistachio and crunchiness that gets to me. I came here because I wanted to try Melo Melo (it's been all over my fyp on Tiktok) and Batch 22 bakery cookies. I got the ube coconut pudding and coffee toffee pudge (forgot to take a picture). Both were so goood! The coconut ube pudding was perfectly sweet and it was a good balance between the 2 flavors. The coffee toffee pudge was huge, probably the size of my palm and it was thicc. Crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, just how I like my cookies. I'll definitely be back to try other Melo Melo flavors and Batch 22 cookies (I think they rotate flavors every month). Overall, great addition to downtown Millbrae. The only downside is it is a bit pricey. read more

Ponyo Foods is a lovely little snack store in the downtown Millbrae area. I stopped by here on my way up to the city, intending to pick up some goodies from Mackbox Desserts, Neighbor Bakehouse, and Batch 22 Bakery. In addition to these local food sellers, they also sell popular Asian snacks like Koala's March, Pocky, etc. The employees working that morning graciously offered me samples of Mackbox's furikake chex mix and white truffle chex mix, since I was having trouble deciding. When I headed to the front to pay, they also offered me samples of some of Neighbor Bakehouse's pastries, which impressed me because bakeries rarely offer samples of their croissants and other laminated pastries. Even better is that they keep certain croissants in a warmer so that you can eat your pastries warm! It was like eating samples at Costco, but better. There is a lot of selection to pick from, so I'll for sure be making another trip since I barely put a dent in their offerings. The staff is very responsive over Instagram and responded quickly when I inquired about their weekend hours. It's a great store for different snacks you don't really see in other grocery stores. However, this review is regarding the Melo Melo desserts. There was a sign that said it's coconut jelly, and upon checkout I asked the employee if this dessert was dairy free. She said yes. I got some and let my nephew try it, but he had a reaction to it because he's allergic to dairy. It would be helpful to list the ingredients for items that don't have it on their packaging and to have employees learn more of the products being sold in store. Of course on my part I will double check another source to prevent this from happening again. People allergic to dairy, don't get Melo Melo. read more

Also had earl gray cookies, and you definitely could taste the earl gray which is definitely a good thing. I don't know how a place this good ended up in Millbrae of all places, but I'm glad it did.
