3.5 stars Came in to grab a few items and noticed a great deal on artificial flowers -- buy 1, get 2 free (5/22-7/5). Definitely a solid option if you're looking for affordable decorations. I was also hoping to pick up some gardening supplies, but they were completely out of stock. I tried asking a staff member for help, but she didn't seem to know when new shipments would arrive, which was a bit frustrating and unexpected. This is hands down my favorite Daiso in the Bay Area. It is right behind Target at Serramonte Shopping Center and super easy to find. The entrance is just outside the shopping center near the food court, which makes it a perfect stop whether you are grabbing a meal or doing some browsing. The store is bright, clean, spacious, and really well organized. It is such a fun place to walk through. I always tell myself I am going in for just one thing and somehow leave with a bag full of random items I absolutely "needed." They have everything from cute home goods and kitchenware to snacks, office supplies, and fun little gifts. The selection is top tier and everything still feels like a bargain even though the prices have gone up a bit. The staff here are always friendly and helpful which makes the whole shopping experience even better. If you are in the area or just love a good Daiso run, this is the one to visit. It has the charm, the variety, and the kind of layout that makes you want to browse every single aisle. I always leave with something that brings me joy. We just recently visited this store again (first visit was last year). They have a variety of items, but they have increased the pricing--$2.25 as the cheapest price or if it isn't priced, higher prices for other items. The parking situation is a little chaotic--either get there early, be prepared to park far, or good luck with stalking someone for a spot. This is one of the more popular shopping spots in the area and is always seemingly busy. They have a huge selection: housewares, storage containers, toiletries, cosmetics, accessories, electronics, travel items, and a huge selection of snacks. If i had to guess, at least 1/8 of the store is made up of snacks and drinks. The most impressive part was the snack section. The discounts are pretty good, but I can see where they have increased their prices. They have a few self check out areas (only accepts card) and at least 1 check out area operated by a cashier accepting cash or card. We had problems scanning some items but were helped by some attendants. They also provide paper bags at a cost. I always manage to find something that I never realize that I need til I step foot in this store. I let the items come to me. read more

I love Daiso and this is the biggest selection, however, ever since they offered self-checkout, the employees at the register (when not helping a customer) always hoover at my screen to make sure I am "scanning all the items" no matter how big or small my purchases are. Even prior to scanning I tell them I don't need assistance. I get theft is a problem w/ self-check out, but the fact every employee does that to me (only once they didn't) is annoying and if they can't trust customers to use the self checkout then don't bother offering it. I go to other Daiso stores and this behavior isn't an issue. I rather shop at the other Daiso stores, but unfortunately this is the closest. read more

Cant complain about the store itself, it has a great variety of things. However, i was double charged for an item. I only bought one cup lid but was charged twice. I was trying to help a friend next to me using the self checkout so i was distracted. I could understand if it read the barcode twice during the same scan but, this was clearly scanned once at the beginning and then again at the end. $2.25 isn't a big deal but i hate shady practices. This Daiso is one of the bigger locations in the Bay Area. There is enough walking room in the store that you don't have to worry about bumping into people or squeezing through the aisles. In addition to a spacious store, the inside is kempt. Items are neatly stacked on the shelves, and the floors are clean. I came when there was a really good stock of things for the week. There was a 2 for $4 deal on neck pillows for the car, and I absolutely had to get my hands on that. While shopping at Daiso, I noticed that male workers seemed to get more attention and help from the manager than female workers. Angelo, a male worker, had a rude and annoyed attitude and gave poor customer service. He was not helpful when I needed assistance and did not support the cashiers properly when there's a long line and yelling at people in rude way.Should've this type of employee. The prices are amazingly low and the items are very unique and perfect for small projects and accessories that normally is only found on line. The person doing the stock and inventory was so nice and helpful, I appreciated her time and effort to locate the exact item I had been searching for and for far less than I was willing to pay. read more

This Daiso store is a neat store to go shopping.... I have bought several neat items at this Daiso store of Serramonte!!! There are other Daiso Store locations that I have shopped at which is the one in JapanTown Downtown San Francisco Area and they used to have one inside the Stonestown Galleria Shopping Mall... But that Daiso Store Location didn't stay in business that long so from there it went of business!!! I love Daiso! This is one of the bigger stores in the Bay Area and it has a lot of selection! They especially had a lot to San-X/Sanrio stuff like Rillakuma here which I love! I saw things like masks, stickers, magnetic bookmarks etc. I don't usually buy stationery goods much anymore but I couldn't resist here. I buy a lot of random household knickknacks here like storage containers, house slippers, disposable kitchen gloves, a banana stand, a cup for the bathroom, etc. Items are priced $1.50+ (although I think they raised the prices recently but still pretty affordable). read more

Came into a Daiso for the first time and what immediately struck me was how cute the shop was. Japanese retail items are so whimsical and fun to peruse. They also have a variety of different items, from home goods, to beauty, even groceries. Everything is at a good price and they conveniently have signs up everywhere letting you know what the conversion from yen to USD is so you know how much you will be paying at the counter. A nice place to come to for some retail therapy that won't break the bank. read more

I appreciate them holding an item that ran out in the shop. They'll hold it till the next day.. It was really helpful since I plan out which days to head out the door with coivd going on. I also appreciate the social distancing sign they have & limiting amount of people in the store like everywhere else. Most of their stuff is $1.50 which is a decent price. In order to find a good deal, like other dollar stores, you really have to pick and choose carefully with thought. It can really add up at check out! Some things are not worth it, and ends up being garbage immediately like their plastic black ear picker that doesn't really do anything. I bought it, tested, & tossed it in the trash right away. I even knew before testing & just seeing it & touching it outside the package, but they didn't have any other option that day so I gave it a try. Hate that their store is no return or exchange policy. Some items should at least be exchangeable for store credit. That's the reason I took a star away & for selling SOME items that are obviously crap. LOL. If I was a store owner, I'd choose products that are higher quality & filter out junk since they can choose what to stock. Some other items are decent. I randomly found a magnetized round metal container tray sitting on the kids section, I guess it's for throwing screws in; the quality is superb. Iv'e always wanted to get one. Perfect. However, there was only 1. I wouldn't mind getting another for paperclips. I bought it to throw my bobby pins in since I keep losing them. Now, I have it stuck to my metal shelf and have bobby pins in it. Strong magnet. Love it. I'll pretend I bought that for $3 since I tossed out the ear pickers. The other good find was a small pink high temperature tolerant silicone spatula. It's perfect as the handle is silicone too, so it won't melt when sitting against the pot side like my other with a plastic handle. Got it so my mom can use it everyday to scoop her oatmeal out the tiny pot. They also carry Disney Mickey & Minnie items now. Some items are more popular than others. I can see people reselling their products on etsy and ebay at a much higher value which is really annoying. That's why certain stuff are sold out. It is probably illegal since I see warning signs on Daiso's website, but people are reselling anyway! A lot of the items in the store is really cute, so spend some time to choose carefully how you spend, not only because of the end cost, but really because it's too easy to hoard things that we don't need!! Shop wisely! A lot of things are too cute! Some of their food items are good, but it's really all unhealthy foods. I didn't pick up any since I'm on a weight loss journey. The only healthy thing is unsweetened teas in the fridge. read more

This Daiso is pretty big comparing to other Daisos I have gone to. There is plenty of things that I haven't seen in other Daisos. Prices went up recently for all Daisos. Now instead of $1.50 for regular stuff, it is $1.75. There were plenty of parking outside. The staff here were good. I had no issues. I just came here, grabbed what I needed, and left. Shopping in Northern California... When I visited my friend in Northern California, she promised to take me to a Daiso. Why would I go to Daiso when there are two locations on Oahu and so many in Los Angeles? Every Daiso carries different merchandise. Some of them will sell out of a certain item while others have many of the same item. Most times, the price is $1.50 unless otherwise marked. In Japan, items are 100 yen unless the sticker indicates a higher price. I usually look for Hello Kitty products. This time, I found a chip clip and a toothbrush! Yay! It's like a treasure hunt for me! I liked the free (shared) parking lot, the air conditioning (it was a warm day in July), and the spacious, clean, and bright environment! Best "dollar" store ever! My husband and I popped in after visiting Dave & Buster's on a Sunday evening (12/29/19) right before the store closed. All plusses, no negatives here! 1. The store was clean and organized. 2. Every thing was clearly marked. 3. Multiple employees were on the floor tidying up or assisting customers. 4. Excellent pieces! I mean, you can get an entire dish set for your house for under $30. 5. Great office supplies and gift wrapping section. So many cute bows, papers, boxes, and ties. I was not disappointed. Parking can be difficult since you are at the part of the mall where the food court is nearby along w/ Dave & Busters. If you park further out/west by the parking garage, spaces are more available. The best department store almost everyone go to was DAISO. Even my ex-wife used to shop lots of cheap items there. DAISO pops up in many locations throughout the Bay Area, and I feel I might not stop buying items that I'm eager to seek. By the way, this was another location I went to during the pandemic, so it's important for anyone keep at least six feet from each other during shopping. Yesterday, we bought shower caps, one of the essential items for our health. DAISO will always continue to have alot of customers when it comes to items as cheap as $1.50. Was here for the grand opening and got a gift bag with some green tea, vitamins, kids crackers, and a hot pink bag that I'll never use. First 200 customers got one and a raffle ticket to try and win prizes. I usually go to Daiso for tea but it's always hit or miss as to what tea they'll have and if it's in stock. Personally I was disappointed at their selection and I think the old Daiso the one where it was a huge building way back when was my favorite. This one is as small as the one inside the mall, but now it's outside the mall. None of the staff ever seem to know where things are, so if you don't know how am I supposed to know? read more

Glad Daiso moved to a bigger location here in Colma because parking was dificult to get in and out from the old one. Daiso has practical products. I'm still using my soup bowl I bought years ago. They seem to last forever. I use chopstick everyday so I come here to buy that too. Price remains pretty much the same, $1.50 for most things. Regardless what your budget is, what your taste is, you will find something at Daiso that you can use at home. Take for instance, their $1.50 cedar shoe inserts, or gardening tools, to small garbage cans. They even sell flash lights and basic hardware. Only suggestion - for those that are non shoppers like me, know what you are buying so you can go in and out. Bring a checklist because it helps keep you on track. Otherwise, this place can suck you in a Twilight Zone and you will find yourself, buying things you may not necessarily need. Cheers! read more

Love this large location! Convenient parking too. Unlike some of the smaller Daiso's, this one has space, and is well-lit. What can I say about this store? It's one of those spots that you visit looking for that ONE THING. And then all of a sudden you have a basketful of items that you suddenly needed. And hey, for the most part everything here is $1.50 so you feel justified in filling up your basket full of stuff. Some of my staples here are: * Face blotter papers - cuts the shine * Stationery - where else can you find Engrish journals and notebooks? * Laundry nets - you know, to wash those delicate items before you throw them in the washing machine * Cooking utensils - tongs, chopsticks, ladles, etc. * Gift bags - perfect spot to pick up cute bags to put homebaked goodies in * Food - there are these bags of curly corn snacks that must have crack in them because they are so addictive * Housewares - want cute funky mugs? Need drinking glasses? I also stock up on their glass bento boxes to take things to work in. It's been a while since I've been here, and the place still looks the same. The prices are still $1.50 cheap for the majority of their inventory. Just make sure you avoid buying anything that contains any chemicals that are made in China. You don't really know if the ingredients listed are the actual ingredients. But fear not, most of their stuff are made in Japan. Unless their pulling a wool over our eyes and changing the sticker labels. Also, I don't remember seeing so many signs the last time I was here. They had so many signs that I felt unwelcomed coming here. (refer to photos attached) They had signs for everything in four different languages (English, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese) that it was a sensory overload. A new rival to Ichiban-kan (http://www.yelp.com/biz/4F8lWbADpGyCFEMknqVwAw). These guys are good. I knew it was a real Japanese store when I heard Ayaka (Jpop) playing as background music. They really do sell stuff 'from' Japan. Actually, some of their products are made in 'China' for the Japanese market, so the packaging is entirely written in Japanese. Many customers cannot read the instructions on the back, but that did not seem to stop them from loading their shopping bags full of $1.50 goods. I liked their home office goods section with good deals on some neat folders and organizing materials. Taking over the space for Good Guys, I found it ironic that a space that was selling $4,000 plasma TVs is now selling $1.50 toilet bowl covers. read more

Wooo Daiso! What a fun little store where you can find most things priced from $1.50 to less than $5.00. My curiosity of this store brought me here and I found several funny, interesting and cool items. I stocked up on fuzzy socks, anklets and a pair of fingerless gloves that keep my hands warm, happy and pretty. I bought two packs of eyelashes and sparkly nail decals. Such a girly girl sometimes, I love the something extra, the sparkle. They have quite the selection of Kitchenware, Stoneware, Knives, Baking Supplies, etc. Anything you might fathom for cooking it up. Organizational supplies, plastic bins, cleaning supplies and such. I stocked up on some candy. Hurray for Hi-Chews in every flavor and chewy gummis. I had to watch labels though, because a lot of their snacks contain MSG. Not only is this a good place to buy inexpensive gifts, they have cute cards and wrapping paper, boxes and bags to wrap them up in style. ;) read more

They moved into the mall and reopened today. They are in the old Radio Shack next to JC Penny. Space is small and they rammed everything into it. It's not as big as the old standalone store. There weren't a lot of people inside so it was ok to walk around. However if it gets crowded it will be problematic. Store is the same as the other Daisos. read more

Daiso Japan is an odd store in my book. I would rate the store as Japanese-style with the majority of the goods made in China...so maybe Daiso China?!? ...despite being in foggy Daly City, the inside of the store is always stuffy... with the lack of ventilation. ...the store also has tons of rules...?!? read more
