I practically STOPPED shopping at Marshall's this past year due to the super long lines/wait time. Yesterday I thought I'd give it one more shot and literally walked out when I saw the super long line (as usual) with only 3/4 clerks working the registers. I had to wait quite a while to get someone to open up the skincare cabinet to get a shiseido cream. I had to press the blue button for help like four times and nothing. I even told the lady at the dressing room, but it didn't look like she could do anything. My husband was already in line at the cashier and had to end up telling the cashier at the front to get someone to open the skincare cabinet for me as he was ready to pay for his items that he was shopping for and was just waiting for me. I finally heard someone on the intercom asking for help in the skincare and I finally found someone to open the cabinet to get the item and I ran to the cashier where my husband was to pay. This was my first time experiencing this at a Marshall. I never had a problem getting someone to open the skincare cabinet for me at other Marshall locations. Please do better when you see someone press the call button or have the dressing room lady have the ability to call someone? Or train her? She told me she didn't have a key, but couldn't she call someone for help? She even saw me standing there waiting. I was not happy. Thank goodness for my husband waiting in line to ask the cashier as I would have probably waited longer and forget this store. Store manager, please do better and educate your employees on the process of asking for help even if is someone that doesn't handle the skincare cabinet, can the person at least call for help or do something instead of just staring out. The rating I have is for the service. I like the items at Marshalls as it is of great value, but service makes a difference at which store I would return. I found (more than) just what I was looking for! Decided to spend the day with a little retail therapy and I'm very happy I ended up here. I found a desk chair replacement that I've been searching for, for what feels like forever. It was a reasonable price, great size, lovely texture and color, and very sturdy. Last one on display-- I knew I had to have it. Except, does it come apart? How do I fit this in my sedan? The manager appeared and immediately offered to either hold the item for me to pick up the next day OR load it into my car himself. I was prepared to return for the item the following day and making arrangements while in line when the manager, Roger (I think that's his name), surprised me on my way out the door, offering again to help me get it home today. He walked a good distance to my vehicle and was careful with the item, though it had wheels, he was sure to keep it in great condition. I was amazed it fit with the limited space! Janice at the register was very meticulous and thoughtful, I appreciated interacting with her. She was very informative and kind. "A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way" When lines are long, the staff and variety of items at this location make it worth returning to! read more

Marshalls - New favorite piece of furniture I own - Department Stores Near Me - Colma, California

I came in yesterday to get some hair stuff, and browses around. I needed up finding some decent things. I went to the fitting room to try on some stuff and there were two workers there very kind they were clearly working doing their job and chatting, when I believe the manager. Ones over in a big huff and says "do I need to f**king separate you two or can you guys actually work together?" Then he walks away in a huff before either one of them can say anything, they were just stunned and so was I. no manager should ever speak to there employees like that (you work at Marshall's it's not that serious) especially young ladies who were actively doing there job. This manager had blond hair that looked a bit white, glasses and was a male with a button up short sleeve collar shirt. I then went to checkout and I had a few clearance items with the yellow tags and that girl that was helping me checkout kept on examining all Of the yellow tagged items that I had to see if she could pull them off even though all of the tags matched she pulled one off and grabbed this same manager to tell him and he stood behind her as she scanned a few more items, as if I switched the tags?? Very rudely mind you I was buying a lot of items that were marked at regular price and sale price. I was at the checkout stand for at least 10 minutes while they checked everything, the line was already long enough then this?? Completely unacceptable, it is not my fault people switch tags but to make me wait there as she scanned all the items and checking all the tags when it was only one item and I was still fine with paying for it at its regular price is very unacceptable. I don't think I will be returning here it's not a friendly environment, be prepared to be drenched in sweat by the time your done shopping and to be breathing out of your mouth the whole time, it smells horribly in the store as well. This store needs a lot of fixing and so does the staff, it is not welcoming at all. read more

It was shocking to see how this Marshalls location has devolved. I've been browsing/sometimes shopping here for years. It used to be very organized and neat. Nowadays there seems to be too many items of lower quality squashed together. Especially right now as they're in the midst of a 'clearance sale' where they've got racks upon racks of leftover clothing to about 1/4 of the store. read more

Easy & plentiful parking. This store is clean and organized. If there's a long line, they staff the registers accordingly. Marshall's, a perfect place to get cheap items for any of your needs. Out of all the discount stores that exist (Ross, Burlington, TJ Max), I feel as though Marshall's is the best out of the bunch in my opinion. Every Marshall's that I've visited has been well stocked with so many selections of clothing, accessories, beauty essentials, shoes, and home decor. Not to mention it's always pretty well maintained and clean. This Marshall's is definitely no different. Located in Colma, just by Old Navy and Home Depot Pro, it has a decent size parking lot and great location nearby many stores for the convenience. The ambiance and atmosphere of this Marshall's is great. The layout of all items are organized and easy to spot. You will not have a problem locating any of the things you need. As soon as you come in every aisle and section is well managed that you can easily find the section you are looking for. Discount stores are notorious for not having enough stock, but this Marshall's is an exception. Their clothing selection for men and women are amazing! I always find great clothing items here for me. They have a great selection of jackets, work out clothes, jeans, and shirts. The shoe selection is also great, stocked with sneakers, dress shoes, or seasonal shoes. The beauty section for facial wipes, spray mist, or even make up accessory are endless. Who needs to go to Ulta for those expensive sponges, or make up wipes when you have this store across? I also love their stock of luggages and bags for men. Usually it's hard to find bags for men, but their choices are endless. The service is ok. It's definitely better than your average Ross, but it's not the best. You can't really find anyone on the sales floor to help you. But from my experience, the cashiers are friendly. The only con is that the line does get backed up frequently with only 2 or 3 cashiers. Overall, a great discount stores to shop in. I love Marshall's and got hooked on it ever since I saw Youtuber's hype Marshall's and its sister stores like TJ MAXX, HomeGoods, etc. great prices on brand name items. This Marshall's location is decently big and a lot of parking spaces around it. I always love heading to the makeup/pampering area because they have a lot of high end makeup for such a discounted price. You can find brands like Too Faced, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Bare Minerals, BH Cosmetics, Peter Thomas Roth Skin scare.... etc it is endless. Keep in mind that Marshalls stocks up random items and can be hit or miss! You literally can find brand name items for bags, clothing, shoes etc. Even non brand name items are very nice and have great quality. The house appliances are very cute and perfect to decorate your house. I appreciate the cashier registers always being open keeping the line going. read more

I can't believe this is my first time here. I'm a huge fan of a store called Home Goods, which is owned by Marshall's. If you haven't been to one before, imagine the Nordstrom Rack of Bed Bath and Beyonds. Great quality products that you'd find at a department store home section but at a fraction of the price. They also have clothing and other things that you would find at Marshall's with a large home good section at the back of the store. Worth a visit. read more

I had been stalking Marshall's online site to see when they would be opening again. I got tired and lost track because what is the point of browsing when you can't buy. So I got my Marshall's fix this past weekend. I chose a time that was supposedly a slow time of day. I walked right in without waiting in a line. I went inside and there were a lot of people. I went straight for beauty products of course - skincare and hand creams. I've been washing my hands a lot and my hands are dry. I've gone through several tubes already and needed to re-stock with something other than drug store brands. I find interesting things at this store and it takes patience and luck to find little treasures. On this shopping trip I found a full size Crabtree & Evelyn hand cream for $6.99 and another hand cream for $3.99. I see smaller name brands/spa brands here sometimes so it's exciting to try something new. I got a few things for my kids to keep them entertained. They were stocked up with Mellissa & Doug activity sets at $4.99/each. Ok, for the downside. When I had my stuff in hand to pay. I didn't realize that the line would be all the way to the back of the store. I was naive and hopeful that the line would be short. At last, it was a 45-minute wait plus a 15-minute scouting trip for a total of an hour. I think I've had to wait in so many lines now that I'm more patient and determined. When I got to the register it was a different set-up. Each cash register has the transparent barrier in front of the cashier and privacy barriers between customers/stations. I asked the cashier if waits have been this long since they re-opened and she said I waited an average time of 45 minutes. While people had waited 1-2 hours to get in and then another hour to pay. read more

I prefer coming to this Marshall's in Colma Center over the location in San Bruno! I feel like this location is cleaner and more organized than the San Bruno location, with a larger selection of items. The line at this location also goes by pretty fast and the employees are friendly. I love coming here to buy nail polish because they sell OPI for only $3.99 and they usually have a pretty good selection. read more

Sandals needed - wedge type . Not a good selection.I noticed that many of the sandals were totally flat, no arch and no good rubber bottoms to keep you from sliding. The best sandals feel good on your feet and look good too, and they are leather. Nobody really likes plastic as they soon find out it doesn't have the ability to stretch and often can't be broken into, but will certainly get overly hot and cause blisters which we know are painful. I was looking for wedges as that little heel has a better sole and traction. But there wasn't even one wedge that I could try on that had a small heel. There were a few pair that were about 4-1/2 feet inches tall. Much too high for me! read more

Bought a pair of headphones earlier around 5. Opened the package & brought them with me somewhere. Tried them on & only one of the buds worked & the sound was super muffled. Came to the store around 9:10 with the product and my receipt and the manager MARK refused to take it back even though I had the receipt and the product clearly looked brand new. It's literally just $6 but his attitude was so rude & pissed me off. I told him if I drive back tomorrow with the package he better return the product or else. I also bought other headphones & made them open the product & let me check to make sure it works. Ended up leaving the trash on the register to match their trash a** attitudes. Disgustingly horrible. It was doing well as I entered the store while I was in need of assistance by a floor employee, at the women's area.. he was pulled away from further assisting my needs for a while incompleting the task of customer service because of a tall, tattooed, pink polo shirt with white/beige pants guy who was disrespectfully telling him to follow him. I did not get the answer of my concern which is a bad customer service due to that pink shirt guy and i ended with just barely buying what I needed. I like Marshalls, I rarely shop there. And when I do, the supervisors/managers seems to disrespect their per employees! Thanks to the pink shirt guy, i barely got what I needed! just horrible customer service for a boss! read more

Back open since shelter in place, I called and they close at 7pm, I check on google and it states they close at 7pm. I pull up to the front of the store where there was about 5 separate groups/people waiting in line and two "security" guards and at 545pm the guards said they were closed. Totally confused bc I just called the store to confirm their closing time! Boy! You dont know what I can do in an hour of shopping! 10/2/07 Update Am bumping this up to 4 stars for their cheap linens! They carry hand towels for 99 cents each. You can't find this anywhere else. Great selection to boot. ------- I found a pair of Stride Rite sneakers for my kid for the bargain basement price of $14.99 here. Prior to that, I found a pair of canvas sneakers (pre walker) for my kid for under $10. I got a lot of compliments for those cheap sneakers. The store is kind of messy. You have to spend some time to pick through the junk. When it's in stock, I still buy my pantyhose here (not gonna pay $10+ at Macy's for something that will break!). Lines may be long but they aren't as ginormous and headache inducing as Ross.' It's also helpful that they have a next customer at register # sign at the counter. It spares you from doing the left and right head shake to see which counter is open. read more

Came here twice this last week and found some awesome stuff. They have a pretty good selection of everything. They have plenty of journals, baskets, pots and pans and other cookware. They have a huge selection of women's and men's clothing and an excessive amount of women's shoes. I'd say this is a pretty decent sized Marshall's and so far one of the best I've seen in the area. Also the staff is very friendly and the lines are never long. I highly recommend coming here before spending loads of money at the mall. 2 thumbs up for Marshall's!!! read more

I can never kind anything in it's proper place here. I do not understand this madness here. It will wait to come here for a periods at a time. Usually I come every 4 months or so and it is always the same. I just cannot wrap my head around the chaos of this store. I will find women's clothes in the men's sections. Clothes just tossed everywhere and anywhere. Clothes will be on the floor, halfway on a hanger, over in the shoes section!!! Trying to find specific items in just difficult. I always say I am done with this place and then I give it another chance but every time I come back I deal with the same crap. Clothes everywhere. It is seems like this place is deliberating trying to drive me crazy. Like a tornado comes in right before I get here and throws all the clothes around here. Even getting some assistance here is crazy. I had called out to an associate to get help and she looked RIGHT AT ME and then waited to say, "Sir..oh...hold on...what can I help you with....hmmm.....oh, I have to get someone else to help you". I could not even tell her what I needed help because she had something else to do...how does that work and how does that make sense!!!!! I am just highly annoyed with this place. I cannot take this kind of customer service or mess. The relationship with this place and myself is OVER. Sometimes, we just want to rest our tired old legs while we wait for our wives on those long cashier lines. So i asked the manager "where is the husband's chair/ waiting area?" Apparently, it is company policy not to provide any sitting areas in the store. I guess my wife will have to shop without me next time; if she doesn't find a more accomodating store! read more

What's my beef on great customer service? A lot. I particularly think the best ad a retail store can give to consumers is good customer service. This would change my view on how messy or how unorganized is their baby section and I would even forget that their shoe section screams " I need a makeover!" I will as long as the customer relation skills are good. Overview..... I purchased a strappy pair of sandals at this location and after 2 days decided it didn't match the dress I've been planning to wear. Since, my schedule's a mess, Dida volunteered out of the goodness of his heart to return the item for me. I was pretty happy about it since I figured there wouldn't be problems, I gave Dida the receipt and I paid with a debit card so I expect cash back. After being in line for 17 minutes, Dida called me on the phone and told me he got a Marshalls gift card because he didn't have my card with him and the lady said she cannot give cash back. I was fuming mad and told him, I will go and settle everything, no problem. The Confrontation.... Enter moi, waited in line for 10 minutes. Here's this lady NENITA asking me "Are you returning something?" I told her I just have a question about a return that was done earlier, explained that I did the purchase with my debit card 2 days ago and a Return Card was given which I do not want since I want my money back. This lady NENITA then said, "we'll I asked your husband if he has your card or not , I cannot give him cash back , that;s why I gave the return card." Blood started to rush up my veins when GARY who I believe was a Manager overheard the conversation and told me in an unprofessional manner ( Didn't even look at me) said, I cannot redo the transaction, I cannot reverse the transaction. And the defensive cashier NENITA said we'll I told you husband blah blah blah blah..... I was so mad I want to shove the gift card inside her mouth! The Result.... We'll they won.... I had to curse and they got me fuming mad up to now! What's up with customer service nowadays? If they had explained nicely and professionally then I would have calmed down. The restroom area smells awful, and the baby clothing seems to be in disarray and quite un-organized. The people who work here seem completely 'whatever' about working here, there is usually one person at the registers and the other woman at the registers seemed waaaay too preoccupied with her very own nails to really be of much use. Every shopper for him or her self, that seems to be the motto of this particular store. In Southern California, the Marshalls shops seem to be cleaner, better organized, and the workers helpful.
