I visited Hillsdale Mall for the first time in decades!…read more I wanted to drop by and survey the parking near Palette Tea Garden. I decided it was best to park on the roof and take the escalator down to ground level.....right to the restaurant! While I was there, I walked around to see what the indoor mall was like. It's a nice shopping mall with a variety of shops, restaurants, and services. The North Mall has a huge "Dining Terrace" which includes an outdoor patio with fire pits. I like the hand washing area. I heard stories that the owners of the mall want to tear down the enclosed mall and build a mixed use open air mall. The plan is yet to be approved. I like Hillsdale Mall the way it is.

The visitor seating area next to Foot Locker smells like throw-up, and the carpets and seats are stained and grimy, like they haven't been cleaned in months. All of the trash bins outside are constantly overflowing, and you can find trash and debris scattered everywhere, which makes walking around gross and unpleasant. During Christmas, the Santa chair for photos is black, sticky, and completely gucky, making what should be a fun experience with kids feel disgusting. The overall smell, dirt, and lack of maintenance make this mall feel unsafe and unhygienic -- honestly, I would never come back and would warn anyone I know to avoid it.

At this mall there are construction workers on the grocery corner of Lucky and Starbucks who are sadly enough ,LOITERING. It is unappreciated for the public to see loud men or even soft gentle words from adult males in orange vests as you enter a store. It is unwanted by many and not appropriate. It feels imposing. Stop this idea here that hanging out and watching over/ gawking at women is fine to do. Honestly folks, it doesn't look appealing and it also causes young kids to wonder why adults act this way. PLEASE stop the loitering in this area of business. The women who run the Starbucks store have to put up with this constantly as if it's part of a social hour to have their customers standing around just talking and holding the door open as if its a nightclub. It's just not funny. Kids need to walk through there and it puts a certain impression on children as to how working class adults behave in the day time hours & it's not even close to being funny or cute. Not acceptable. Stop loitering.

L&L wasn't really busy, so we were able to place our order quickly. Though they did run out of kalua pork which was kind of a bummer. Understandable as it was late at night. Wait time wasn't too bad as we ordered takeout. Next up was Lucky. We hadn't planned on going to a supermarket, but since it was there, why not? Just grabbed a few boxes of soda to have on hand at home. I read a review stating parking is kind of a pain and it can get congested in the area. We didn't run into that at all. Granted it was late on a Monday night. I actually thought the plaza was rather empty and dead. Wouldn't mind coming back for Jollibee or Red Ribbon. I've yet to try both.
