This place is so exciting as a multi media artist and crafter! It's very organized, although the labels on bins aren't usually accurate. There are a wealth of items from wood, metal, fabric and art supplies. Legitimately there is a little for everyone here! The aisles are clear and wide, the floor is flat with very few obstacles, I felt like it was easy to walk around with a cane. My only con, and I truly do understand why, there was no handicapped accessible bathroom available. Anyhow, great fun, lots of possibilities!

How fun! Lots of random Knick knack. You can't go in looking for specific things though.

Some cool people who work here, drop in to see what you'll find and if you get lucky with that day's selection. The stuff is always changing due to donations received DO GOOD AND DONATE your art supplies and give them a chance at a new life! Careful where you park, there are some no parking signs outside of some warehouse garages. Also watch your surroundings. This street is a bumpy road so go slow

I came to this location after the Axios SF Instagram recommended them, and absolutely agree with Axios' recommendation that this is a very strong but hidden gem. It's essentially a place that has been around for 25 years where a lot of art-related donations are thrown here and there are a lot of free items, such as greeting cards for Christmas, birthday, and thank you notes that are handed out. Right when you go into the entrance, you can find a lot of free items. There are tote bags, and the person before me actually took a Trader Joe's tote bag that they could have used when going shopping. It's basically a thrift store for art-related items, and they also host workshops that teach people and educators how to host art-related courses and activities. I saw a lot of people there who are art teachers trying to find items like canvases, magazines, and other knick-knacks for their art classes. I also saw families go in with their little kids so that they can grab supplies. Because it's more of a hidden gem location, you're just overwhelmed by how many items there are within the store, and it's really important to just rifle through everything and have the time. It's not just affordable, it's almost dirt cheap, and I only spent a few cents for gift bags for the holidays. They have quite a number of employees there working and sorting the different items, and I definitely saw a bunch of people bring in donations as well. Overall, it's a pretty good mission. It's pretty impressive how many items they recycled, and it's a really great place to be if you just want to grab fabric, canvases, random art magazines, or anything that you might need at home. Applies related. I definitely don't think there's a need now to go to Facebook Marketplace. The main thing that I wish I knew in advance was that it's definitely a little bit sketchy. The ride from downtown to the scrap store took about 42 minutes, and you're going to a place where there could be a lot of homeless on the bus (even though it was during the daytime). It's slightly a poorer area and more dirty on the street. I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone come here, especially if you're a girl at night alone, because the ride on public transit could feel very sketchy. The art store itself is also not very clear with its entrance, but in general, if you just call them, they'll answer super promptly, and the people working there are very nice and very committed to this mission. They also can help you out with prices. I saw a lot of people drive to the art store, but I called a Waymo myself. If you're grabbing a lot of supplies, you can easily grab a Waymo at Uber nearby. It took about two to three minutes. But if you drive there, it probably makes more sense. There's actually parking right outside the store, so it's not difficult at all. I'm someone who just moved into the city, and I'm absolutely delighted that I found this hidden gem. I definitely would be coming back here during the holidays or in the future when I need more office supplies. They don't have the biggest furniture, but they have the most random things you might need for your house, like art or just shelf organizers and even other office supplies. You can practically get so many things for free. I recommend that if anyone here is really involved with art-related materials or wants paint and canvases, or even just wants things for reading events or a paint and safe situation, definitely come grab the supplies here. Also for the holidays, I recommend that anyone come here to grab gift bags and cards because it's super affordable and there's also just a lot of wrapping paper and ribbons as well.

A very fun place to browse for your art supplies -- and I love the creative reuse . Loads of things are being reused and kept out of the landfill. And Scrap has free teacher give aways. And cool workshops. I never leave empty handed. It is hit or miss what you will find there but it is just a lot of fun to browse through everything. If you don't see anything you want just try another day.

Scrap is in an industrial part of the S.F. so use caution when parking your car in the area. It's not a place to be walking around at night. Once you step into the warehouse, there is a good selection of donated art supplies for sale at reduced prices. Right when you walk in, there is a small section of FREE stuff that you can take. For teachers, you can score $25 worth of supplies for free on select days. Call to find out those dates!

Jennifer was one of the nicest and most helpful people! She helped me pick out a bag, tie a bow and decorate it with paper

What a great experience! Today's my 2nd year wedding anniversary and I wanted to get my wife some cards, she loves cards. Jennifer helped me to find the best cards, get a bag, wrap a bow and place the paper. What an amazing experience! Thanks again Jennifer!!

A fantastic resource for teachers & preschools! A amazingly helpful place for ANY project you can think up!! Wood, leather, paint, boxes / storage, picture frames, paper, yarn, fabric ( from glitz to upholstery and everything in between), glass, metal, cardboard, postcards, graphics, sewing items & vintage patterns, a wall full of National Geographic mags- useful and fun to read) great for curious kids ... AND there is more outside!! They are committed to repurposing items! They are a great resource for crafters Reuse * Recycle * * Repurpose ... but whatever you do keep great stuff out of the landfill. You can donate reusable goods here- call first. Tell the proprietors that they are Amazing... because they are!
