This store is a knick-knack gift shop with a new twist. It has an interesting collection of gifts. It's not supposed to be a souvenir shop, but it has some gifts and collectibles. It's a toy shop and a stuffed animal shop. It's cute and for babies and kids. It's like Wishbone, but it's a new store on Haight. I had fun browsing today and I decided to get a postcard for $1 and a sticker for $1. It was a Bojack Horseman sticker and an anime postcard. It's on Haight Street and the gifts are fun.

This store is WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE!

They even have Sport team items! The prices are a little higher than drug store prices (of course) but it's not going to break the bank! The staff are all pretty nice and are helpful. They do a lot of seasonal themes too, right now it's all ready for Valentine's Day!

She handed me a piece of a napkin or paper towel and looked away - like she wanted me to go away Yea people in a Gift shop at a UCSF awesome Hosp need someone friendly and accommodating to all gifts in their Hospital- we've been coming here for years and pls Managers of Gift Shop have a 1 on 1 with her - bad day or something was definitely going on with her - another gentleman told me the same thing when he saw how she treated me

Japanese Tea Garden - Cherry Blossom

Japanese Tea Garden

Ever since the first time I came here as a kid, I've always been in love with the Japanese Tea…read moreGarden. Even though it's not as expansive as the Academy of Science nor as interactive as the Exploratorium, there has always been something about this place that I've always been so appealing. So, after well over a decade (if not longer) had passed since my last visit here, I was curious to see if I would still feel as enamored by the experience. The verdict? YES! As soon as we walked through the front gate, so many memories of my past trips here came rushing back. From the five tiered pagoda, to the bonsai plants in the zen garden, to the waterfall, to the pond filled with koi, to the moon bridge that one of my childhood classmates almost fell off of, it was awesome to find that so many familiar parts about this place looked just as I remember. What's more, as you walk around, it still feels so tranquil and peaceful, despite how you're actually not that far removed from the hustle and bustle of the rest of SF. If anything, the only thing about the Japanese Tea Garden that I seem to have completely forgotten about was the Teahouse. Maybe it's because I only associated it with the actual tea ceremonies that they used to offer, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they also sold a variety of small bites and sweet treats here. From chicken karaage, udon, onigiri, Japanese sandwiches, and daily bento boxes to green tea cheesecake, tea house cookies, warabimochi, and dorayaki, they have something for everyone. However, given how it's more of a snack shack than a cafe, expectations should be adjusted accordingly (it has its own Yelp page under "Teahouse"). If all of that wasn't enough, the other thing that I love about this place is how it's not terribly pricey. In particular, it's free for SF residents at all times and not just on certain days of the week/month (you just need to show your ID/proof of address). However, if you do have to buy a ticket, it's $18 for an adult, but they have reduced prices for seniors, youth, and children (kids 4 and under and military/veterans are free). You can walk-up and buy a ticket at the window, but buying them in advance online will also give you the chance to reserve an entry time, as well as the option to buy a Gardens pass that can also get you into the SF Botanical Garden and Conservatory of Flowers for the price of paying for tickets to two of them. One piece of advice I would give, especially to first time visitors, is to either visit on a weekday if you can or during the earlier hours on a weekend. For one, you'll have a better shot at snagging street parking nearby in the park (as opposed to the parking garage), but also to avoid the long lines and crowds that form during peak hours on Saturdays and Sundays. It definitely makes a difference if you can, especially if you want to avoid other visitors appearing in your photos, but even if you can't, visiting the Japanese Tea Garden is still well worth the effort!

These street cars are the star of the attraction and definitely worth the ride. For $5.70 one can buy an all-day Muni pass which allows you to ride these cars along with all other transit EXCEPT the cable cars. These cars are a collection of preserved vehicles from the '30s to '50s. Each one was given from a city in the US. They were originally brought to San Francisco to substitute for the cable cars when the c.c. Went under major renovation back in the '80s. The street cars became a hit with locals and tourists and are now a part of historic transit systems in San Francisco. The museum is small but detailed. It is open limited hours and run by a team of volunteers. They are passionate about these street cars and it shows. They are very detailed oriented but expect a pause every 10 minutes when a street car goes rolling by. The museum is free with a suggested $5 donation. It will only take about 30 minutes to cover it but a great stop if a rail fan.

"You're selling me a fantasy that I want to explore It…read moresounds so good spoil me rotten to the core" (Rihanna) The Exploratorium lets curiosity run wild, mixing art, science, and hands on wonder into one big experiment. There are so many amazing exhibits here but let me tell you about my favorite one. It was an exhibit in a gallery dedicated to explaining and demonstrating how AI works and how it can be used. We were asked to make a drawing of anything, anything at all. I drew a house and a cat. Then we were asked to pick a musical style -rock, hip-hop, blues, kiddie songs, techno or whatever. That was all it took for the machine to take off into cyberspace. The AI gears whirred away and out came a song combining our drawings and chosen musical genre. Who knew a rocking rock song about houses and cats could be so great? They have six galleries with hands-on kid friendly exhibits covering math, illusions, technology, electricity, magnetism, biology, cell structure, light and color, sound, and social science. There are demonstrations scheduled throughout the day in these galleries, on topics including magic, lasers, biology, botany, and weather. So, if you've ever dreamed about seeing a cow's eyeball get dissected, well,,,, you're in luck because a cow's peeper gets dissected five times a day for your viewing pleasure. The Exploratorium was jam packed with kids having the time of their life exploring the wonders of our world. This big kid had a blast as well.
