Lovejoy's is the first team room I visited a loooong time ago. First with my grandmother and mom, and now with my daughter. Celebrated birthdays, Mother's Day, baby showers, and bridal showers here. Always a treat when we visit. During our recent visit, kiddo and I ordered the Queen's tea. We always order the cream cheese and mandarin orange and smoked salmon sandwiches. This time we also ordered the chicken curry and tomato and cheddar - both good but would've like a bit more tomato. Table next to us ordered the sausage rolls which looked good - will have to give it a try next time. Reservations are highly recommended since it can get quite busy.
Always a pleasure to return to Lovejoys for tea. Lovely, comfortable setting, generous portions. We had a queens tea and high tea with salmon, chicken apple walnut, ham and roast beef sandwiches. The High Tea consists of a selection of two sandwiches, mandarin orange salad, cole slaw, scone, and a small sweet treat. A pot of tea as well. This is quite substantial for me! The Queens tea is the High Tea plus fruit, a crumpet and dessert from the tray. A quaint room but cozy enough to have a small party. Street parking is a bit of a challenge. There is parklet seating as well. Reservations are required to ensure a table. My favorite place in the Bay Area for tea!
Lovejoy's Tea Room takes you into the world of British high tea and dining. The tables both inside and outside are beautifully adorned with floral-patterned cushion, doilies that cover every table, and serveware collected from the UK. The service here is very quick - our waitress was kind to explain different menu items and give us recommendations for our first time here. We went with an assortment of high tea specials, tea sandwiches, scones and crumpets. The baked goods came out warm and fresh, which was deliciously paired with the creamy butter. The sandwiches were all very refreshing and light! Some of my highlights would be the sandwiches paired with cucumber, and the selection that included chutney. They have an expansive menu of teas for you to choose from, whether you prefer black teas or those that are more floral. I would say you can't go wrong with sharing and it makes for a wonderful experience. My time here was amazing and I really loved coming here!
Upon entering this decorative tea room, there's a sign, 'No Phone Zone,' so there are no photos taken in compliance to this request. My daughter wasn't hungry so she ordered à la carte the scones with jam, cream and fruit, and I ordeted roast beef and horseradish finger sandwich. Our tea of choice was passion fruit. As per their own website description, the food was average. People come here for the tea experience and setting. Therefore, it makes sense little girls gather here for a tea party, mesmerized by the teapots and cow shaped milk containers. This is a popular place, so reservation is highly recommended. Cost lean towards the pricey side, but you get to wear one of their hats hanging in the store free of charge!
I don't even know where to begin to write how disappointed I am in the service I received yesterday from LoveJoy Tea Room. I reached out to have LoveJoy Tearoom cater my company's International Women's Day Luncheon because my predecessors used her services the year before. Unfortunately I could not speak with them or get any reviews on how well the service was, I just remember how beautiful it looked in passing. Well, I'll never let a beautiful aesthetic allow me to make that mistake again. I requested a full high tea service with tea, dishes, sandwiches, etc. She let me know that she was able to cater for my event. I asked that she give me an itemized payment receipt and her version of an itemized receipt was typing out each individual thing she was bringing and how much it would cost in total on a word document. It is very hard to get that through compliance at my company. I should have known then, I was in trouble. When she arrived, she complained about finding the parking as if we didn't validate her for parking in our building. Once she got up to the floor she came in and set up the tea which took about 15-20 minutes total. I signed her payment receipt, tipped her and as an avid high tea patron I asked her how long each tea she brought needed to seep, ALL FOR HER TO TELL ME SHE DOESN'T SUPPLY THE TEA!!!!!!! Excuse me? Why would we cater from a Tearoom that didn't supply tea? The gag was, she provided us with sugar cubes but no tea. Further, she completed the 'ready for use' set up all for us to notice the cups were dirty. - to the point when washing the cups in our sink, a large spider jumped out of one of them. We wasted 15 tea bags that I am extremely happy we had in our office already because we also notice, only after putting the bags in the pots, that they were dirty as well. We had to wash the entire rental within 20 minutes before the event began. Another thing that really bothered me was there were no sandwich description tints letting people know what was in the sandwiches as a food allergy precaution. Not only that, I'm more than sure she didn't bring all of the sandwich options I requested. She also charged me $40 for checkerboard cookies (although the invoice says "tea biscuits") that she picked up from Sprouts for $5.99 per box. There were no petit fours, no cream for the "tea biscuits" etc. This whole experience was a disappointment, and I truly feel ripped off as I paid $919.00 + tip for what I thought was going to be a High Tea experience and ended up being a horrible catering experience. I'll never work with her again and I suggest you don't either.
Lovejoy's is a long time favorite for my family and I. Since my children were barely toddlers, we gave been enjoying high tea experiences at this cozy, eclectic tea room in San Francisco's Noe Valley. Reservations are typically booked out weeks and weeks in advance, especially for prime time weekend seatings. But, we were able to snag a same day reservation last minute, by sending an email. We were seated in the outdoor parklet area - which by the way is not heated -- but the tea keeps you cozy! Some of the fun of the visit is the eclectic assortment of dinnerware - everyone gets a different plate and tea cup set, and a different tea pot. Super cute and fun. It's like being at your aunt's or grandma's house. Very home like. Service is very accommodating and pleasant, timely and attentive. You can order various grades of tea service, from a Queen''s Tea that includes everything you could want including a Petit Four for dessert, all the way down to light tea for just the basics - sandwich, scone and fruit...plus a bottomless pot of tea. There is a fee to share - but that's reasonable. Crumpets can be added - with lemon curd and marmalade - and they should be! They are delicious. The sandwiches are made to perfection - our favorites are chicken apple walnut, cucumber and cream cheese, roast beef and horseradish and turkey with Dijon mustard. The scones need their own paragraph. They are perfect! Served wam with double Devon cream and jam, these alone are worth the visit. Salad has a delicious dressing, I've had the sausage rolls before and also - perfection. There are a wide variety of teas to choose from - from traditional English blends to Rooibos and herbal assorted teas. Something for everyone. You'll have to map it and find it - but it's all far worth your efforts. Make reservations well in advance if you can. The J Church MUNI line stops right outside, so transportation can be easy and you can avoid the search for parking! If you visit SF - or you live here - either way, it's a must visit spot. I love the cute little smoke salmon sandwiches, the fruits on top are fresh and sweet, the pastries on the second level were okey and slightly to sweet for my taste. Let me start with the good things first. - The staff was very nice and made sure we were well-served. - We were a group of 8 people, and they were accommodating to our special dietary restrictions. - The food was good, and the teas were delicious. Things we didn't like: -It's a little old place, so we saw spiders lingering behind our chairs. -The food quantity is comparatively less.
I know people come here for the experience and ambiance but I really expected a bit more in terms of the food. The menu was a bit confusing but the server was super friendly and explained everything. She had suggested we get a few towers to share and each tower was really pricey so I assumed I would be more out of it. But overall I paid about $50 for 1 sandwich is that made with regular sandwich bread and some ham and spread, a scone and some tea. Which is wild. I came for a friend so it was alright but I don't think I would come here again for myself or for my events.
I came here for the queens tea for a late galentines. I made the reservation a month in advance. The teas are delicious and enjoyed the scones, crumpets, and sandwiches. We enjoyed the Victorian decor and the cozy environment!
We came for afternoon tea and it was so good. We ordered the queen tea. The inside is so cute and the strawberry jam is delicious and tasty.
My friend recommended this as one of her favorite high tea places in the city and my sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We weren't able to make a reservation as it gets booked up pretty early on but we got there around opening time at 11 am and they were able to seat us at an indoor table. What really stood out to us was the decor all around the restaurant: the eclectic art, different tea sets and fun hats you can wear for your time there. We loved that each table had unique table sets and we ordered the Queen's Tea Set, adding a small sharing fee and an extra scone to try another flavor. They have a whole list of tea you can choose from and we opted for the chamomile tea to pair with our tower. The Queen's Tea Set came with two flavors of tea sandwiches we chose, salad, a scone, a crumpet, a biscuit and a petit four with some toppings of lemon curd, jam and cream to use. Our standouts from the set were definitely the scones. We got the lemon ginger and black currant which were both very flavorful, hot, light, and flakey. Topped with the lemon curd, cream or jam, it was such a refreshing light touch and we couldn't get enough of the lemon curd. The sandwiches were simple and fresh as well and everything was a perfect shareable amount for the two of us. After our meal, we went to their attic store across the street where you can buy your own tea sets and loose leaf teas that they have at the restaurant. We loved the chamomile so much we bought a pack for home along with a tea ball. It was a great experience and we would for sure come back again.
Went here for some tea and snacks. They have great service. We had a reservation. The decoration is interesting and the area is cozy. The tea choices were great and the small sandwiches were great. It's street parking. But overall great experience.

It's been too long since I had a tea party! I ordered the light tea set which was the perfect amount of food for a lighter meal. It came with an endless pot of tea, so I chose the China rose black tea which had strong rose notes without being too "lotion-y". The lox and cream cheese sandwhich was simple yet classic. The ginger scone was a tiny bit dry but appropriately ginger forward, and the cream and blackberry jam moistened it up. The little biscuit was buttery and the cut fruit was actually perfectly ripe and not sour even in October. My friend and I split a crumpet to round out the meal which was my favorite - spongy and lightly sweet. Of course the plating and the decor is so whimsical and cute. The inside seating was full but the parklet is so lavishly decorated with patterns and textiles it's pretty close to inside. Logistics: - indoor and outdoor seating - Limited street parking nearby but right off the J line - The scones and bread contain egg, but the crumpet is vegan. A pleasant afternoon with friends. Lovejoy's Tea Room in Noe Valley is basically like stepping into a cozy, whimsical fever dream run by the cool British aunt you wish you had. Why it rules: * The Hat Rack: They literally have a giant rack of vintage, ridiculous, fabulous hats you can borrow and wear at your table. Did I need to drink Earl Grey in a wide-brimmed pink fascinator? Absolutely. * The Vibe: Mismatched floral china, lace everywhere, and zero stuffy high-tea snootiness. It's just pure, comfortable fun. * The Food: Warm scones with thick clotted cream and jam that will make you weep happy tears. Plus a tower of cute little finger sandwiches (the cucumber cream cheese and egg salad were elite). The Shepherds Pie was a little dry and could have used a little more Worcestershire sauce. * The Tea: A massive menu of brews, served piping hot in adorable teapots. Food okay but serving sizes even smaller than last time. With the high tea choice, how does one person share a humble sized cup of coleslaw? Or a few leaves of lettuce (comes with the original sized salad dressing amount)? Servers should ask patron if they'd like more hot water poured in the tea pot, not visa versa. 1 1/2 hours sitting time might also suggest an offer of starting a fresh pot with fresh tea since ours was bitter from tannins. They're still not giving each person their own tea strainer. Bad form. Yes same wonderful decor, but come on. read more
Magda took very nice care of us! We came on a Saturday afternoon. We had a resy reservation - reservations book up in advance! I think especially for the indoor spots. I had been here years ago with my work team, but inside. This time, I tried the outside parklet. It's a cute ambiance as well! Feels like you can breathe a bit lol, in contrast to the inside where there's a lot going on (but in the best way! Very quirky and it's happening with all the tea parties.) There's one bathroom so you may have to wait. We enjoyed the food and tea. We did ala carte sandwiches and foods. We shared an unlimited white peach tea. We especially enjoyed the sausage rolls lol I'm a savory girl and just love the buttery flaky goodness combined with seasoned sausage. The sandwiches were also tasty and light. I like the added cucumber. But after a few, even those tiny sandwiches can be filling! Especially with all the tea you end up drinking too. The tea sets and the lacey linens and all the thought put into the dishware and decor is top notch lol. It is a nice old timey tea time vibe - you're temporarily transported to the good ol' days - probably we're riding horses around lol. I can see why it is call Lovejoy. Full if Live and Joy. The people working there are super nice. Celebrating two birthdays. They give you a tiny cheesecake with a very tall candle. Several tables were celebrating birthdays! We are inside, much warmer. Yes, mismatch china's. These are bone china, very thin. The teapots aren't very full. We had the lady Grey with apricot decaf. It was lovely. Pomegranate green tea, very very subtle Pomegranate. We got the Little Tea (one choice sandwich. 3rd person pays $3.00 surcharge. and the queen's tea (2 choice sandwiches). I love their scones choices of lemon ginger and cranberry or currants. I got the first two. The waitress (Mikyla, mispelled) said she is partial to chestnut tea. Got to try that next time. There are at least 30 teas to pick from. Mandarin orange and cream cheese sandwich was delicious. Smoke salmon is always a hit. The blueberries, exceptional sweet.love the jam and fresh cream. I booked a reservation for me and my friends and it was so worth it! I enjoyed the decor in the place and the tea options. I was a bit confused by how the food was set up but it was easy to comprehend after 3 minutes. This is for sure a meal that's meant to be light so if you have a big appetite I recommend eating beforehand! The staff were super kind and helpful. It was nice finding an area that is boosted for their ambiance while also having yummy food. read more

Really enjoyed my first ever high tea experience here! This spot is nestled in Noe Valley and I came here on a bright weekend with a couple of friends. We got the Queen's tea set and the presentation was immaculate, and the sandwiches were pretty tasty too! The cucumber one was especially refreshing (we also got smoked salmon and cream cheese). The fruit was a nice touch. Scones were good though had a pretty dry exterior. I also enjoyed the tea we got (can't remember exactly which one, but we got two different types - one was a variant of earl grey, and the other had more flowery notes). We sat outside, but the inside was super cutely decorated too so was fun to explore after. Service was good and overall felt pretty chill and not too stuffy -- prices also felt reasonable for SF. read more

Stumbled upon this place through a recommendation from a local, and I do not regret coming here one bit! This place is a total vibe, in a quaint little town. Upon arriving, I was the first one (10 min to open) but quickly people started arriving for their reservations too. Even a bus load of senior citizens were dropped off right up front with their party of 10+. When arriving in this type of situation, you need to be a little aggressive, or perhaps, very assertive or else you're going to be pushed to the side. There's a small podium up front right when you enter the door, to which you check-in there. Reservations are highly recommended. There's seating outside and also inside, though they filled the inside seats first. Me, myself and my party of 1, quickly got serviced. I ordered the High Tea set which came with a choice of 2 sandwiches to which I had opted for the daily special (tuna and tomato) along with the salmon and cream cheese. I also chose the apricot tea which was delightful! The set came with a scone which was a lot bigger than I had anticipated, but it was very yummy. My only wish, is that it came with lemon curd (came with a berry jam and clotted cream instead). Though I ordered a jar of that lemon curd to take home and I was not disappointed. The lemon curd was probably one of the best I've ever had with lots of lemon flavor and not too much sugary fillers. All in all, I had an amazing time! This was a lovely and cute place for afternoon tea. Heads up there is only one bathroom available, so there will likely be a wait. The décor was fun, and we enjoyed seeing the variety of dishware. I really enjoyed the food here, but I felt very "meh" about my tea (Tea Room Blend). I actually preferred my friend's Black Vanilla with Lavender, and since there's unlimited refills, that worked out well since I could share with her. I will say I wasn't used to filtering the tea as you poured it out, since other places will usually have a filter built into the teapot, so a few times I forgot and ended up getting tea leaves in my teapot, but that was just user error. The lemon ginger scone as well as the smoked salmon with cream cheese / chicken pesto sandwiches were delicious. Light Tea was a perfect portion in my opinion (and I appreciated that it came with fresh fruit as well). After you pay your bill, you'll get a slip that says you can present it in order to get a free gift with a purchase over $25 at the antiques shop across the street. Speaking of which, the antiques shop does sell the tea from Lovejoy's, so my friend was able to pick up a bag of the Black Vanilla with Lavender tea. read more
Where can I fancy a cuppa tea for myself? I wanted to super like this place so bad. Yes, the tea is stunning... But here's why I can't get with it. If you want strictly high tea with no food, this is your spot. Tea selection is wide, porcelain plates and cups are beautiful, and the ambiance inside will have you feeling like you're in someone's antique grandmothers house. But you want food with your tea? Hard pass. I came here with my coworkers and made reservations ahead of time for a party of 10. We sat outside and ordered tons of sandwiches, salad, the lemon curd crumpets, the sausage rolls, and the notorious clotted cream raspberries scone. I'm gonna tell you the sandwiches felt like children finger food. Wonderbread would have been a much better choice than whatever they got going on here. It was such a disappointment, especially when they cut the crust off but so many pieces had lingering crusts on them. It was funny and wild to me at the same time. Salad was ok, the lemon curd carries the crumpet, the sausage rolls also just ok, and the scones would be nothing without the clotted cream. Over the Christmas holidays, we visited Lovejoy's Tea Room to enjoy high tea. We booked on Resy. I had this place bookmarked for the longest time and so happy to finally try it. Very cute, slightly ole fashioned in an endearing way. Love the eclectic vibe of mismatched cups and saucers. Tea was fun. Went with the hubby who although not into high tea, gave his best effort to enjoy this occasion with me. We got the Light Tea + additional items. We both enjoyed the tea sandwiches. He was enjoying more of my picks than the ones he picked out. Highlights are the cucumber sandwiches and the yummy scones with the Devon cream! Tea was delicious and service fit for Royalty. They actually have a cute sign saying Reserved for Royalty. Very fun and cute! Perfect for birthday parties and any occasions. The family and I enjoyed afternoon tea at Lovejoy's Tea Room yesterday. It was a rainy morning and our reservation was for outside so we weren't sure how our experience will turn out but the ladies at Lovejoy's do an incredible job. Our reservation was for 11 a.m. along with all the other parties that had an 11 a.m. reservation. We were seated in an enclosed outdoor seating area like the many others you see around San Francisco. The only difference is this one had creature comforts such as throw pillows, cushioned banquettes, nice tablecloths. Lovejoy's really went out of there way to make the environment comfortable and inviting. The chill in the air finally went away once the other tea enthusiast joined us. Magda arrived to take our order. We each chose the Queen's Tea which included a choice of two sandwiches, served with cabbage salad in a Caraway cream dressing, organic spring greens, a scone with preserves and Devon Cream, a Crumpet with Meyer Lemon Curd, fresh fruit, a Petit Four and a Tea Biscuit. We also ordered some sausage rolls which I have to say are a MUST with tea at Lovejoy's. For my tea selection I ordered Earl Grey(I'm a purist.) I also buck the tea drinking establishment and have the audacity to put milk in my cup before tea. The Mrs. ordered Lovejoy's tea room blend and kiddo ordered the White Strawberry tea since she isn't a tea drinker. Shortly after our tea arrived this massively beautiful tower of goodness was delivered to our table. Even for three people it was a lot of food but we enjoyed it. The cost of the Queen's Tea was $38.95 per person. A bargain compared to some of the other places in the area that offer afternoon tea. Getting to Lovejoy's from the Financial District where we were staying was easy. We too the MUNI J train which passes right by the place. The train used to stop at Church and Clipper which is intersection where Lovejoy's sits. The MUNI has discontinued that stop and you not have to get off the train one short block down on Church and 26th. read more

Wonderful tea room experience! My daughter and I had the queens tea. I loved that we were able to choose our sandwich, scones, and dessert. I've been to many tea rooms and that was a first! The service was awesome as well since the food came timely, the tea was yummy, and refilled pots as needed. I loved how eclectic the decor was and cozy the seating was with the pillow on my lumbar. So comfy! Also, we visited the thrift store they have across the street. Definitely will be back and highly recommend. read more

cute cluttered tea room vibes with very nice staff. however scone was pretty bad, fruits are a cop out imo, and greatly disliked the mere presence of the salad. crumpet was tasty, clotted cream and jams were pretty good. teas were also solid. would maybe return for a tea and crumpet/sandwiches but nothing else. i could make better at home. read more

The most adorable tea room for afternoon tea! Ambiance & Service: The interior is incredibly cute and cozy, featuring a large variety of unique chinaware! Our server was very friendly. However, she offered sweet treats on a tray without mentioning they would be an upcharge. Food: We both ordered the High Tea. I had the English Breakfast tea, which was lovely! The Cucumber and Cream Cheese and the Pear and Stilton sandwiches were nice, though the bread was a bit dry. The tea biscuit with jam and cream was delightful! TL;DR: Fantastic place for an intimate afternoon tea! Recommend the High Tea with the Pear and Stilton sandwich! read more

Is reservation required or do they also take walk-in's?
They take walk-ins but be prepared for a long wait during busy times. You can put your name and phone number on the list. There was no wait around 3 pm the last time I was there.
Is this place big enough to accommodate 12 people for baby shower?
Hey Joanne! They can seat a large party (I believe I've seen 10 people before), but it requires a reservation booked fairly well in advance. I would call and just check to see what's available for the date you're looking into :).
