You'll find unique items if you're searching for a little gift for your favorite knitter or crocheter. They don't sell knitting patterns, but you can easily find these online. They have some knitted sample pieces for inspiration and examples of what a yarn would look like knitted up. The lady at the shop is so warm, friendly and helpful. The store even has a small seating area, for knitting get togethers, and also a patio in the back. It's a relaxing area to knit on a nice day. One of my favorite stops on the bay area yarn crawl this year! The store is wonderfully laid out - there aren't many shelves, but there are many tables. It's a little narrow in parts and can get cramped if there are many folks inside, but it doesn't impede the experience much; just be careful moving between areas. Kelley, the owner, is the sweetest gal. I asked for her opinion on the interchangeable needle sets that she stocked (fun fact, The Royal Bee was the only place that I saw on the yarn crawl that stocked all four big players: ChiaoGoo, HiyaHiyas, KnitPros and Addi Rockets). Kelley just marched right up, cleared some space on a yarn table, and opened up all of them for me to touch and compare, all while providing me her opinion on each of them and asking questions about what kind of a knitter I was so she could give the best recommendation. It was such a friendly and open-hearted interaction, I ended up changing the opinion that I had formed through online research and took Kelley up on the set she recommended. It turned out to be the right choice, and I'm thrilled with the purchase. Thank you, Kelley! I'll 1000% be back for more yarn and stitch markers. It's the kind of place where you want to spend time. Once you pick out some lovely yarn, I recommend checking out the garden area to sit and craft for a while. Even better, you can rent the back garden space, which is exactly what I did for my 50th birthday party. I walked in, met the owner and another employee, and we were friends in ten minutes! I love it when people make you feel welcome and appreciated. The owner is lovely and has a keen eye for curating the most beautiful yarns. It's a treasure trove of things to tempt your crafting palette. Even real Shetland wool! LOVE. Wonderful little yarn shop in Pacifica. Very off the beaten path but worth the drive. Kelly, the owner, is by far one of the nicest people I have ever met. She helped me pick out the yarn for the blankets I'm knitting. It turned out my "idea" of what I wanted to do and the way it really looked were pretty far apart. So I brought back the yarn that I did not need and she took it all back. No problem! She also had put on order another skein of creme yarn that I was short on. She kept me updated with the progress and when it looked like it would never come in advised me to see if I could get it elsewhere. Then, we it did finally come in, she called me to let me know. Fantastic customer service. The shop has a beautiful selection of yarns. These yarns are not cheap (if you want that, go to Michael's) but everything I saw was high quality (not at Michael's). I had moved from San Jose to South San Francisco and thus in need of a new LYS close to home but I hadn't gotten around to looking for one for a while bc I was still going through projects in my queue which already had stash yarn allocated. (I'm a slow knitter!) I was working on a top early this year and did a poor job at picking up my stitches again from a provisional cast on and tried dropping the wonky stitches and picking them back up again but seemed like I was just making it worse. I totally was making it worse and didn't know who to turn to! I needed a knit doctor! I did a frantic search online and discovered Royal Bee not too far away in Pacifica. I don't know how I hadn't heard of them before! E-mailed asking if they could assist, and they totally said they could and to come on in. I was so relieved, and the owner of the shop was so nice and gracious, and someone helped me get back on track. Yarn is displayed on cute shelves that remind me of a honeycomb, very appropriate. I didn't need to get yarn at the time but I did get on the mailing list to stay up to date and I look forward to returning and perusing the yarn when I need more for my next project. SIP has certainly given me more time to focus on getting through my project queue haha. I've also been recommending the store to friends who knit and live around here. read more

If only I could rate higher than five stars! This was my first visit, and they're moving locations this weekend, but it's already my "happy place". The owner is so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about fibers, yarn companies, and everything in between. I bought two skeins of Rowan Felted Tween and two skeins of pure (brushed) angora. It's like a pillow! The prices were very fair and I'm looking forward to purchasing some of the namesake yarn that's spun and naturally dyed for them. I asked what's involved in learning to knit and the gal said classes were an option but I could also go on you tube. I lucked into this store when I was recently traveling near San Francisco. It was almost the only place open, and I was kind of hoping it was a coffee shop, but imagine my delight when it turned out to be a yarn store instead! And even more so when I started chatting with the owner, who happily showed me all of the yarn that she had dyed herself. When I'm traveling, I always try to stop at local yarn stores. I only had time to stop at one for this particular work trip to SFO, so I selected The Royal Bee, mostly due to proximity. I'm so glad I chose this shop! I wanted to find some fingering yarn for a brioche project to work on during my flight home and the lady helping me was so helpful in selecting a yarn and helping to see how the colorways looked when knit up (looking it up on Ravelry). The owner is fantastic and invited me to sit and cast on while I was killing time before my flight. Shop is well organized and carries a nice combination of well known and local/artisan yarn. Luckily I was only bringing home a carry on or I would have purchased even more, although I still left with some great things to add to my stash! read more

The website features the Royal Bee yarns but the shop carries yarns from major brands (Rowan, Malabrigo, etc.) to California independent dyers as well as the Royal Bee brand. There is a lovely patio in the back of the shop where you can knit outside and where currently classes are being offered. I love this yarn shop and after today's visit I just had to yelp about it. Every time I have an appointment near here I swing by to snag some new yarn. They have a variety of yarns here from the super luxe hand died wool to more affordable cotton and bamboo blends as well as a variety of, well, all things stitch related! Honestly, every time I come in here I find something I just have to get. Also, the owner is amazingly welcoming and friendly and although I haven't done it yet they have a back room where you can just come and stitch and enjoy refreshments and get some advice when the owner is available, as well as a variety of classes.
