Ace Hardware in Pacifica is the perfect little neighborhood hardware store. They seem to have just about everything I ever need, and the return policy is very reasonable. Every time I walk in, someone immediately asks if I need help, and the staff are genuinely eager to assist. The owner has personally helped me troubleshoot a few home issues and walked me through how to properly install parts once I got home- that kind of service is rare and incredibly appreciated. Prices are fair for the area, especially considering the convenience and the level of customer support you get. Overall, a fantastic local hardware store that makes every visit easy and stress-free. My daughter was having trouble with her Honda key fob not working. I discovered the previous day, while purchasing an angle bracket for my bed, that Pacific Manor Hardware could replace auto key fobs for much less than the dealer. I brought my daughter's failed key fob in, and after a bit of troubleshooting by a knowledgeable staff member and the store manager, they found that I had inadvertently replaced the battery with the wrong one. So, for a mere $7, my day was a whole lot brighter. This isn't the first time Manor Hardware has helped me figure out a problem with my home projects. I usually pick this hardware store unless I find myself right next to the "other" one in Pacifica, because of their knowledge and eagerness to assist. read more

This hardware store is such a gem in the area and the staff are so helpful and friendly every time I stop in. Selection is as expected, and it's always quite nice to see the seasonal selection as well. When they did not carry something I was looking for, the staff has been very helpful at recommending other places or checking stock at other locations. Returns are also quite easy, I ordered an item online and needed to return it, and the process was very quick and simple. Really like all the staff here and hope they stick around. The prices here are not the cheapest but that's expected with smaller stores like these. The customer service and attention that you get is worth it though. read more

Came here today to pick up an item and the older woman running the register was unexpectedly rude to me when I asked a question about a return. I wasn't even asking to do a specific return - just *if* it was possible to do one here if I bought an item at another location. In case you, the reader, want to know, only if she carries the same item and she is absolutely not going to give you a price higher than you paid or higher than she lists an item for. Clearly she has some baggage around this, but her rudeness to me about it was not warranted. Really it was just a question. Maybe the answer should be changed to "no, I'm sorry, you'll need to take it back to the location you purchased it at since we are independently owned." After she was rude to me, instead of apologizing, she tried to justify her response to me being "because some customers just don't understand". In a small town where we have the choice of going to the Home Depot or the Hassett Ace across town, this woman would do well to focus on customer service with less harshness. Pacific Manor Ace is 14 miles and 20 minutes from home and we pass numerous other hardware stores to get here but this is still "our" hardware store. As small as it is, we always find what we need. Here's a partial list of the things we've picked up: Plants Plant containers Potting soil Watering can Plant food Moth traps Batteries Household light bulbs Flashlight bulbs Hand tools Picture rail hooks Picture hanging wire Hand sanitizer Hand soap Extension cords Furniture oil Candles Drain opener Cleaning products Candy! Prices are not all that much more than the major hardware stores. You won't have to wander far to find help because there are always employees roaming the store, ready to provide service and guidance. My only complaint might be that the aisles are very tight and it can be a pain to get around if there are more than a few other customers in the store. The three parking spaces directly in front turn over quickly. We've never had to fight for a space even on weekends, but when the school next door is out of session we've seen others park there (attempt at your own risk). Long story short, it's worth a short drive for easy shopping with good service. No need to traverse the Home Depots of the world for everyday household maintenance needs...come here and get your shopping done quickly and painlessly. read more

This is a very small hardware store. They have a pretty decent garden center and some beautiful house plants at better prices than most places around town. The staff members that I spoke to weren't very knowledgeable and couldn't answer basic questions about where things were. This is a classic hardware store. The staff is asked everything from how much bonemeal do I need for my roses, to how do I flare 3/8" copper tubing to operate my freezer's ice feature. It's a big kids toy store. Every key I've had copied works perfectly. They are willing to special order anything they don't have in stock, and they have rows and rows of specialty items, corks, specialty bolts and hangers that you can buy individually. The staff is professional and kind. It's what a small, community business is all about out. I'm five blocks away from a large box store chain, and I always drive the five miles to see these folks first. Support your local business, or you'll lose them. Not once did they ever try to sell me something I didn't need. Don't be fooled, this store only looks small from the outside, they have just about everything you need and their hours are great. Even though I live in San Francisco, I come down to this ace location because the staff is always super helpful and the store is very organized and easy to find everything. I get my propane refills as well as normal household odds and ends here. Always a pleasant experience it's an extra two minute drive for me. However parking is much easier than with many other stores and I appreciate that convenience compared to the city when I have to take my car. Great place! Rather than head into the Sunset and fight parking meters and traffic I took a short drive into Pacifica. This is a well stocked store with just about everything imaginable. I went onto the Ace website to verify stock, found street parking in front, and was in and out in minutes. All store personnel were following Covid protocols and were helpful and very friendly. The staff here are all quite amazing and it looks like they have some new hires for the summer to help keep things running smoothly. These people are paid to help us but for those of you arriving half an hour before closing time on a holiday, they are not paid to deal with your abusive behavior. I see you. If you are having a bad day, don't take it out on these young folk. Some of them have only been there for a few weeks and your impatient anger is way out of proportion. Curb your expectations about what customer service is because it is not a therapy session nor is it a consultation or a chance for you, the customer, to hit on them. Great place for quick pickups for weekend projects. They always have the odds and ends I need. A little pricier than the big box home depot and Lowe's but their service is much better and I'm glad to pay the higher prices for better service. It's a super small store, and you can usually find what you need, however the prices are very over priced. And small establishments like this wonder why we go to Home Depot and Lowe's? I also had a bad experience with Pacifica Manor Hardware, this is what happened - I bought some disposable masks for my office, to the turn of almost $90 for two boxes of 100 masks. A co-worker also bought masks. I wanted to return my masks. The boxes were unopened and I had my receipt. They wouldn't take them back. Said nothing "COVID" related can be returned. Not good customer service, just another way to rip us off and keep our money! I'll never shop there again. They just lost this customer. read more

Support small businesses when you can! We've been coming here on and off for a few years now. Today, after running an errand in the area, realized I needed a new furnace filter. As soon as I walked in, staff at the cashier stand asked what I needed. I was told the aisle for the filters and as I was headed over there, I hear over the intercom - customer service for furnace filter. I was in and out in less than a few minutes. Even received a 20% discount because someone had just returned the filter I needed because they purchased the wrong size. So happy that travels today took me down to Pacifica! Its cool having a hardware store right there at the bottom of my hill. Its a mom-and-pop kinda place. Yes nice charm and neighborhood convenience. The selection of stuff might leave you wishing for HD -- depending on your needs. My last project saw me down there on three different occasions one Saturday. Not that HD would have saved me the three trips, but I wouldn't have needed to improvise as much. Important to know -- if you need wood, this isn't the place to go. I just wanted a 1x4 or 1x3... no dice. Just some molding. A humorous story about that Saturday, though... their computers went down and they were doing all their checkout the old school way... no, not an abacus, but the more modern cousin... a calculator. And hand-written receipts. What really got me is that one of the high school kids was a little stressed out and overwhelmed by that little piece of cutting edge technology (the calc), and after several attempts to add up the cost of two matching bolts with washers and nuts... he picked up the poor little calulator, dropped it back on the counter and exclaimed, "I can't do this," and walked away. I don't hold it against the store that the local high school kids can't do math, but it adds to the charm! But seriously, good store... they can help save you from the trip to HD if you're not in too deep for their selection. read more

it's always convenient to have a neighborhood hardware store, especially a great one like this with helpful, knowledgeable people, living up to the Ace motto. Dolly's a gem. She's helped me on several occasions (going above and beyond!) with various things, like choosing some plants from the small but lovely garden center in the back (where I was glad to learn they're starting to order more native plants -- apparently, I'm not the only one who wants 'em). The store's small and doesn't have everything, but they do have a impressive selection and sometimes carry things you wouldn't necessarily expect a small hardware store to stock. This place us selling defective smoke dectectors. I bought two the first one would not power up and I brought it back to this store. The idiots that work there made me stay until they called the manufacturer and tested it in front of me and then would not refund me. The second unit just went off for no reason at all its new and cost $30. This place needs to be avoided they change employees like toilet paper and they pay peanuts to hire monkeys. After years of supporting my local Ace. I won't be back. I showed a picture and ceiling paint I needed. They didn't have it and told me another paint was the same thing. Turns out they sold me a paint 2x more expensive: $380 vs the $140 I should have paid. When I came back they refused to refund me or work with me at all. Very disappointing. For such a small store Ace always has everything and I have not met an employee there who doesn't go above and beyond when helping me. They have ample store personnel at all times to help. It's been way too long since my last update. However this Ace Hardware location remains an excellent local choice for finding the parts you need for your projects. And not just finding the parts, but receiving great customer service before during and after the sale. Still even go so far as to order new stickers for your ace rewards program in the event your current stickers are unreadable or your credit card has been replaced and your stickers are no longer available. I know they can look up your ace rewards program by a your phone number, but it's that extra little bit of service this store is happy to provide that makes all the difference when visiting your local hardware center. As before, I recommend Pacific Manor hardware as an excellent local hardware store to fulfill your hardware needs. read more

Bought some wire hanging clips for Christmas lights which I never opened or used as I found a better solution at another major hardware store (H.D.) which is just 5 mins away. I came back with the receipt and products in brand new unopened condition and they refused to take them back and give a refund citing a vague footnote on the receipt that said "exclusions apply". Like wtf is that? How was I supposed to know that this can't be returned if I don't use it. There was no sign or warning from the cashier before I bought these clips that if I don't use them they cannot be returned. Nothing whatsoever, and then this B.S. $25 down the drain shopping here. This has to be illegal (if not it should be), but they know it's not worth a customers time to research and fight it. I also noticed when I walked by the register they have a new hand written sign that says "no refunds on Christmas lights" after Christmas. I can understand not allowing returns on Christmas lights after Christmas but this seems like a sh**y way to do business, posting hand written notes after the fact and hiding policy like that from customers. Other major hardware store take back anything, even when opened and used and even if your missing your receipt, and within 90 days. This place refuses to take back a brand new in box, unused item which isn't necessary only for Xmas, with a receipt with 3 weeks of buying it. Bottom line, don't waste your money (and especially your time) shopping here. Get all your hardware from the more successful hardware store 5 mins up the road instead, you know the one that's actually helpful, has everything you're gonna need, and treats it's customer fairly and with respect. read more

A few weeks ago my husband went here to purchase a circuit breaker cartridge because our old one burnt out. He's never replaced a piece to our breaker so he asked for help from one of their male employees. He brought the old one to the store so he can get the right one. You would think if you work at a hardware store and asking an employee for help they know what they're talking about. The employee just looked at the old breaker cartridge and compared it to a new breaker and said it was the right one because "the size" was exactly the same. The employee DID NOT even check the serial #s on both breakers to make sure it was the right one because apparently that's how know you have the right breaker (via the serial #!) Again you would think if someone works at a hardware store they have knowledge about the store's products. Well when my husband got home he tried to put it in our breaker and low and behold it didn't fit. So he went back and they told him he couldn't even exchange because it's their store policy. Well maybe if y'all had an employee who knew wtf he was talking about this wouldn't be an issue in the first place. And we wouldn't be out money from the purchase. So how is that a customer's problem if the employee was incompetent who advised him to buy the wrong shit?? They wouldn't even get a manager. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Usually this is my go to spot because its convenient and close but I guess ill be driving over the hill to Home Depot from now on.... I went to purchase some light bulbs. Grabbed them off the rack and it said 7.99. Wait in the long line and get up to the register and they ring up 12.99... they said they need to update pricing.... I went and grabbed another set which say 8.99.... wait in line... rings up at 13.99... clerk comes out and confirms that the tag on the rack and bulbs are in right spot but they haven't updated pricing and won't honor whats listed.
