This is a very small hardware store. They have a pretty decent garden center and some beautiful house plants at better prices than most places around town. The staff members that I spoke to weren't very knowledgeable and couldn't answer basic questions about where things were. If you're just looking to pick up the odd tool or garden supply this may be the place to go. If you need a fully stocked hardware store I would suggest going to the home Depot.

Do you guys sell composting worms?

Unfortunately, we don't. However, you can get these at a tackle shop. Worms used as fish tackle bait are redworms (the same variety that is used for composting). The number of worms in a jar of tackle bait will be plenty to get your composting… Read more

I've been coming to this building for my hardware needs for over 20 years. Regardless of the name…read moreon the wall I've come here because I wanted to support local millbrae business. I've spent THOUSANDS of dollars here over TWENTY PLUS YEARS! I'm a "member " here. Basically they track my spending habits with my phone number. (I guess. Because I've seen no benefit to me from it ). Anyways that ends here and now. I've never been made to feel more unwelcome or unappreciated than I was 45 minutes ago. I work hard. I started my day at 5 am. Midday my trusty Carhartt jacket tore and I spent the rest of my 13.5 hour work day with cold drafts and a plan to come here for a new one. This is after all the same place I'd bought all my other high priced Carhartt gear. Put yourself in my shoes. 5 am start. Off at 6:30pm with a torn jacket. A feeble lunch of whatever it was I had and enough coffee to get me through. Race to the Outdoor supply and walk in the door to be "Greeted" by "You have one minute to shop!' We close at 7!!" (Mutters to coworker. Loud enough for me to hear "I know I know I shoulda locked it !" ). But I look at my watch it's 6:58. So apparently you don't "close at 7" you close a little before that. I'm followed by 2 men that are acting like children telling me "we close soon ! We close soon ! He's closing the register !!" In the MOST WHINY AND PATHETIC way I've ever heard. As I say. "I know I know I was already told. But I NEED A JACKET!" I'm followed to the jackets then I'm told again. "We close soon he's closing the register !!" (Look at my watch. It's 6:59) I find my jacket. It seems to have increased in price nearly double what I remember having paid previously but I'm literally so uncomfortable because I have two grown men and a teenager pacing and acting like they'll all be punished or something terrible will happen in the next 12 seconds. So I quickly find my size jacket. Only to discover that it's literally CHAINED UP!! With a steel cable and padlock ! In MILLBRAE. Not a third world country. Millbrae. Let me be clear. They've chained up the jackets and you can't even try them on!! Then as the three employees pacing around me figure out that they can't annoy me away. They begin to frantically try to unchain my $150 windbreaker while conversing loudly how inconvenient I am and how "he's closing the register !!" (Question ? Does ... like ?? I dunno. A BOMB GO OFF? Does like little Timmy lose a thumb if the register closes at 7:01? ) Cuz by 7:03 as I walk ran to the register in time to see another man shooed out the door with the entire rest of the store staff pacing by the door as If they all need a wee wee and the potty is closed .. the cashier is hurriedly ripping the cash drawer out of the register and trying to leave. Making me wonder what woulda happened if he left my sight ?? Would I have been told in that same whiny tone "sorry. We told you. He. Closed the register .." Seeing me ; his shoulders slump , he turns to the cash drawer and shoves it closed and BEFORE I can even ask "what's the easiest way I can pay and get out of this awkward mess?" He says "card only we're closing ". (Ok. I get that. It's literally all I've heard In the 4 minutes I've been here. ) I (for some reason) give my phone number even tho I already am seething and also oddly feeling guilty like I've somehow ruined 6-7 people's night by being their last customer. I pay and I'm followed out by 2 people. Only hearing my first friendly "thank you " as I walk out. Thinking to myself it felt like "thank you for FINALLY LEAVING !" It was 7:05pm So. I'll say online. Publicly for all to read what I said to her. "I'm sorry I came in .." I mean it. And when I say "I'm sorry. " the man I am means that it won't happen again. So don't worry Outdoor Supply. I won't bother you all again ever with my patronage. I'm sorry.

A couple of weeks ago I came to this store for the second time (I've been in other Ace stores before, so I knew the concept). My objective was to buy material for a project I started a few weeks before: building an activity board for my one year old toddler. (Google what it is :-)). So I've been wandering around in the store to browse for random things to connect to this piece of wood and hope it's safe enough for a toddler to play with it. The variety of "stuff" they have is impressive so it took me a while to get a good overview. The friendly staff kept asking me if I need help, but I declined saying "I'm just browsing". I'm sure they thought I wasn't going to buy anything and might even steal a thing. After being asked for the fifth time I gave in and explained what I was building. The guy helped me find a couple of things and even came to me later with a suggestion (battery powered light with a switch). Great at upwelling ;-) Overall a great place to buy things I didn't know existed and my daughter loves the bright red activity board with a variety of locks, wheels and other things connected to it. Thanks Ace :-)

Since the 2019 lockdowns the current manager seems to be hell-bent on making it the most miserable place to shop on Earth. All the cashiers are gone. Now there are just an array of self checkout kiosks and at least 8 of them are closed at all times just to make sure that you still have to stand in a ridiculous line while some old woman looks over your shoulder to upsell you on a rewards membership. Item doesn't scan? Welp. You'll just get to stand there for half an hour while somebody figures out what to do about it. Need to push a large cart full of drainage pipes to one of those three open self-checkout kiosks? Well surprise, idiot. Mr. Manager Man has decided to put giant display racks in the middle of every aisle making that completely impossible under the best of circumstances. 99% of the time there will also be a waddling gaggle of morbidly obese people obstructing whatever's left of the aisle because they want to look at the moose scented candles or whatever stupid bullshit they're carrying for no apparent reason. Need to find a particular electrical or plumbing fitting? Too bad. Every single box has had its contents thoroughly shuffled with every other box in the store so there's absolutely no chance the fitting you need is anywhere near where it's supposed to be. Asking anyone where they put them just gets you a stoned "Uh, like... What?" from the random idiot wandering around. Entire aisles will be cordoned off for the entire day because someone eventually plans on restocking something. They're not stocking it now and they won't be stocking it in the next hour but it's closed. If you dare walk down it anyway a pimply kid will yell at you and that's like really threatening or something. Just in case you haven't been run off yet, there's also an obnoxiously beeping inventory robot ramming into you from behind and a scam artist from some solar incentive sales ponzi scheme following up shortly thereafter. He got his job on the TikTok. Given what an unbelievable hassle it is just to set foot in this place, you might think that you'll be clever and order whatever you need on their website so they have to go burrowing through their own randomized inventory piles but you'll be screwed there, too, because the website automatically reloads itself at least a dozen times so the search field clears itself out and is absolutely worthless. The actual order pickup process is also every bit as time consuming as it involves a stoner doofus reading numbers on a tag to find your order. The manager needs to be removed so things can get back to their usual degree of mediocrity.

I've been coming to these guys for years to get my Honda Commercial gas-powered lawn mower…read morerepaired. The land I'm moving is difficult: most of it is steep, and it's never been seeded as a lawn. I leave it for months at a time, so the weeds get to be up to 8 feet tall. It's bumpy, and I push the mower over fallen branches and pine cones and gopher dirt mounds all the time. These guys have gotten to know me, and they know how hard I am on my mower--and the fact that I regularly leave gas in the tank long enough to eventually gum up the carburetor. They also know that when I have the time to catch up on mowing my 2.5 acres, I'm eager to take advantage of that time and get the work done. 8 weeks ago, after mowing for a couple hours every day for a week, the mower stopped starting, probably because of the old gas I was using. When I brought it in, they were very nice but said that they were backed up for a month. I begged and pleaded and told them I really wanted to get caught up with my mowing before rainy season. They're used to my pleading, but they also knew how much it would mean to me to get back to work. Somehow they found time for my machine that very weekend. They went out of their way to double-check that the carburetor was cleaned out and tuned properly, and the blade replaced. AND they made sure I understood about NOT leaving gas in the tank with the valve open to the carburetor!! Ever since then, I've been making slow but steady progress on the 2.5 acres I try to keep mowed, and I'm finally ready for the rainy season. The property looks as good as it ever has, the woody Scotch broom is mowed down, there are a couple new trails through the acre of forest at the bottom of the hill, and it's still starting the first time--no matter how long it's been since I've gotten back it. They give me the kind of service that I need, working with my deadlines and teaching me the basics I was ignorant about. I'm very grateful they're my local repair folks!

I did ask if I'm able to purchase 20 in total and they save the 6 bags for me to come pick up the next day, she didn't understand my question. I didn't want to keep explaining. So I just purchase the 14 bags. With receipt in hand, I asked the older Hispanic associate if he can help bring the bags to my car. Bags were on a flat bed.
