    One of the quirky things about Laurel Village is how unconventional it is. The biggest perk is there is a parking lot. Did I mention free parking? In San Francisco? Being here for an appointment, my friend noticed the "Ace" sign from the lot so we walked in from the store's backdoor, another rarity for SF businesses. Not wanting to spend too much time shopping, we saw a young gentleman making keys by the back entrance and showed him what we sought. He gave us instructions and offered to help us if we couldn't find it before he was done. Walking the aisle he mentioned, we couldn't find it and asked another young guy for help. After walking a couple of aisles, the key staff member saw us still searching and took us to the exact location where they were shelved and stored. After getting what we needed, I headed to the cashier near the main California St. entrance. The kind lady asked me whether I was an Ace buyer member (no) and quickly registered me to be one. After paying for my items and leaving, I noticed the dollar amount on my receipt was unusually high and, in studying it, learned that she mistakenly double rang my items. I quickly walked back and explained the situation to her. She took my receipt back and quickly issued a credit to adjust this error. It was only when I walked back to do the adjustment that I noticed the business name and the welcome mat (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=AcwLE_Le423NdBWXjr11ig&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). Great neighborhood spot for those who need hardware supplies and nice that it still as that local feel.

    About a month ago, I called Stan's Kitchen, part of this Standard 5 & 10 store to see if they carried food coloring and sugar pearls as I needed that for the cookie decorating class. And they do. Perfect. Came over, got what I needed. Previously, I also found a great looking (it's pink!) and useful silicon spatula as somebody was using the regular spatula on the nonstick pan and that's a huge no-no. Today, I pop in to see if they have any stackable yogurt jars because I wanted to make chia puddings, but they don't have any stackable jars. I did end up ordering them from the company named after Brazil's rain forest. However, I found a silicon fork that I didn't know I needed, but I do because I'm cooking more at home now and these kitchen tools are essential. Plus, it's a pretty aqua color.

    There are aisles and aisles of fun stuff here, like jigsaw puzzles, games, toys, party supplies, LOADS of Hallmark greeting cards, holiday decorations, etc. Plus household necessities you would find at an Ace hardware store, of course. This store is huge!! And there's free parking in the back.

    This is a follow up to my original review of 12/23/2019. The store owner Tony still claims, the battery I sought to purchase there does not show up online as listed to their store. I am attaching a photo that clearly shows his claim to be untrue. Just look! OK so now you claim " ...Scroll lower on the website you are on and you will see that it is NOT available at our store, nor are you able to ship to our store. You are able to order this online at AceHardware.com and have it shipped directly to you if you wish..." I did scroll and if you did you would have seen the "unavailable online" statement contained there. The fact that your business model doesn't include customer satisfaction by making a reasonable counter offer (again, I do not consider upselling what's in stock as reasonable) doesn't help. I will buy batteries elsewhere. I consider this a cautionary tale.

Many plumbing supply houses are not * The average discount over the entire order was substantial for the fixtures we bought, and was better than that offered by any other showroom In addition to all of that, Jennifer understands the emotional toll from renovations and reduces concerns where she can: * Your home is in chaos and daily routines are disrupted (she can't help you there) * The wide selection of brands can be daunting (she helps you cut through the clutter of information, and whittle down the options) * You are concerned about making costly mistakes (she helps you make choices with confidence and can also point you towards products that can be returned without penalty) * You might feel urgency to get the renovation done before holiday guests arrive (she can tell you which items are in stock and if not in stock, which manufacturers' estimated delivery dates are reliable) * Your contractor may be pressing you towards products you don't want or like (she can help you identify alternative products you do like) Jennifer has our highest recommendation.

I think it's important folks know…read moreabout this experience so see below: ______________________ I had such a bad experience with Mission Home which I know will look bonkers given the 5 star reviews. I was definitely persuaded by these reviews - and now will question every business that has 5 star reviews. Do your homework and don't be fooled. Project took much longer than what it should have because they were disorganized and would forget certain things (the foreman would even admit that the PM should have told me certain things!) that I would have imagined a contractor had down pat in terms of sequencing. They use some subcontractors and you are at the mercy of their schedules. They just are not organized (you will do a lot of the reminding, checking in, following up, and certain things still may not happen). They failed inspections meaning more cost (it is their job to pass these! It says this in any contract!) If it seemed as though I was questioning something, the PM got defensive and sometimes unprofessional, gaslighting me in a very aggressive manner. I saved the communication, in fact. The people I worked with directly were young and it showed in the almost-too-casual style of communication and lack of professionalism. I surrendered towards the end and just wanted the project done and everyone gone. I feel completely foolish that I went with the significantly higher estimate thinking it would offer a smooth, superior experience. The actual people who did the work worked hard though and did nice work - hence the two stars. But at the end of the day, it's actually hard to enjoy the work as I am reminded by the months of bad experiences - up to the very end. You can find more experienced contractors out there for equal quality of workmanship and for a more competitive price. I am using a different contractor now for other work at the property - it's a 180 degree difference - they have a dedicated team for my project, meaning time to completion is more accurate and on time; they have a dedicated person to procure the finishes and fixtures, not myself; they are way more organized and even provided me a timeline of what to expect and communicate with me what time they are showing up and what progress was made that day (!!); they are bringing a truly expert eye with attention to detail that ELEVATES the space and are teaching me to ask things I didn't even know I should KNOW to ask; and most importantly, I feel truly comfortable asking questions without defensiveness and aggressive steamrolling in their answers. I received none of this level of care or expertise with MHR, and I want you to know that you should expect these things!!!

But anyway, on the date of the site visit, the guy come without any tool for measurements and for note taking. The guy just spent like 20 mins walking around the house and said he will get back to us with a quote. But I never hear back from them since. I think the company is very picky on clients and like to see if they have enough money to pay for their service. If they think we cannot afford it, they will just cut all the communications. The showroom is well laid out, two floors, attractive, not confusing, with a range of prices from, say, Delta, Moen and Kohler to higher end brands. (I think lower costs on the bottom floor, higher-end upstairs.) Free parking lot to the side of the building, which you need in the Mission. It's important to see and touch as many of these products as you can. We worked with Keoki Garner. He was well informed, timely, easily available, and collaborative. He stayed cheerful when I overrode him and then changed things last minute (due to my own mistakes.) I loved that I could do research on Build.com and then bring it to Keoki. He never upsold or resisted when I went, say, for Kohler over Grohe. Everything so far has been delivered impeccably and undamaged. Build.com offers an enormous range of products, and I like that too. You can return within a reasonable amount of time. We haven't started construction yet but almost everything is sourced and in the garage.We have a clear billing record so much came from Build.com. I ended up gravitating to some more expensive fixtures, but not because of pressure, because of my own preference. I'd definitely do business with Keoki and with Ferguson again.

I went back to the Ferguson Connecticut site and they carefully listened to me and helped me get a new filter which was sent to my home and installed by me. The plumbing company I had originally called was more interested in selling me something I did not need. I really appreciated the help of the Ferguson customer service person who helped me find the appropriate solution. I am so pleased with my water pressure and lovely faucet now.
