Ordering is very easy - there is a screen dedicated to each table. Food is fast. I like the ambiance, very warm and pretty space. Food is good, my daughter likes her tteokbokki but too spicy for her so we tried the rose' tteokbokki.
Tang Jip is absolutely phenomenal. We got the Kalbi Tang and the glass noodles were amazing. They were packed with flavor and the Kalbi was very tender. We also got the bossam which was very fatty and juicy and was also packed with ton of flavor. Finally we got the bulgolgi which was so good. So much smoky flavor with the marinade taste is so good with the bulgolgi. Overall, Tangjip is one of the best Korean restaurants out here. Definitely a must go to spot if coming to the Bay Area. -made by a 11 yr old

Tang Jip has a fast-casual setup -- you order everything through a touchscreen kiosk rather than with a server, so don't expect full table service. It works fine for a quick meal, but don't come in expecting a sit-down Korean restaurant experience. Also worth noting: the galbi is prepared in the kitchen, not grilled tableside, so if you're after that interactive BBQ experience, this isn't it. We tried a nice variety: bibimbap, sundubu jjigae, galbi fried chicken, and a seafood pancake. The restaurant is a solid option if you're just looking to fill a Korean food craving, though nothing on the menu really stood out as a must-order. That said, the prices are reasonable, which I think is the real draw here -- it's easy to see why the place stays busy. If you're looking for a quick, affordable Korean food fix and don't need it to be exceptional, it'll get the job done.
Came here on a Friday night. Waited about 5 mines for a table for 3. We were seated in the back room. The food came out really fast! We ordered: - soup and spicy pork combo - the pork was really good and flavorful better than a lot other Korean restaurants. Soup was good too. Combo size is a little smaller than regular size (see pic) - galbi - flavor was fine but there were at least 3 pieces of pure fat (see pic) - kimchi pancake - this was soggier than what we're used to compared to other restaurants Came with 6 banchan sides. Usually kimchi is my favorite but their kimchi wasn't that good but idk how to put my finger on it. But their bok choy was really good and stood out. Overall, I like lots of good things going on for this restaurant (modern, clean restaurant, parking lot right around the corner, great service) but some of the items are off.
This was our first time trying Tang Zip and our second time eating at a Korean restaurant, so we weren't sure what to order. The customer service was outstanding from the moment we arrived. The staff member who helped us took the time to explain the menu, recommended some of their most popular dishes, and answered all of our questions with patience. We decided to keep it simple and ordered the kimchi pancake, tofu soup, and a fried chicken. The kimchi pancake was the highlight of the meal, an easy 10/10! The tofu soup was good (7/10), and the chicken was pretty basic. We also loved the variety of kimchi and side dishes that came with the meal. Overall, the service was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome throughout our visit. Restaurant is well decorated, spacious with big screen TVs on the walls. It was a great experience, and we'd definitely come back to try more dishes next time.
Very solid korean food, and maybe one of my favorite tofu soups ever! Came with two friends and we had got the beef soontofu & spicy chicken bulgogi combo, spicy galbi tang, LA Galbi, Rose tteokbokki, corn cheese, and kimchi fried rice. My personal favorite was the beef soontofu which was so rich with beef flavor and had huge generous chunks of beef. I also really loved the rose tteokbokki which had a good kick, balanced with savory cheesiness & slight pepper flavor. Also thought that the kimchi fried rice had a different flavor to it that I can't pinpoint, but absolutely loved! Everything else tasted standard and nothing stand-out when compared to other korean restaurants, but still tasty nonetheless. Loved the kimchi here as it wasn't overly fermented or sour! Service was as attentive as possible given an almost full house on a Saturday night. The spot is actually quite spacious and and very pleasant, bustling environment. Definitely a korean chain I'd like to continue to visit!
My friends and I stopped by Tang Jip to watch the World Cup match between South Korea and Mexico. As a group of four, we pre-reserved a table in advance on their website. For $89, the reservation included a full order of Korean fried chicken, your choice of bossam, jokbal, or dakbal, a bottle of soju, and two beers (or two mocktails). We opted for the bossam and the soji. The included items are enough to get you started, but you should definitely plan on ordering more food. After we finished the included items, we were still hungry for more. While the beginning was a bit chaotic in terms of settling in (i.e. we were missing tableware, glasses, didn't receive our drinks for a long time, etc.), after the match started, things became more calm and organized as the night went on. If you're used to a giant plate of bossam with cabbage wraps, you'll be somewhat disappointed with the bossam here. No wraps provided, and the bossam itself was a little tough. I appreciate that raw garlic and jalepenos were provided with this dish though. I was excited for the KFC when I saw it was included in our package, but I was incredibly disappointed when the platter of fried chicken arrived. Most pieces of chicken were cut to be the size of popcorn chicken -- with a few larger pieces here and there, but the chicken was completely unseasoned. I was definitely expecting some sort of glaze on the wings -- like a standard soy garlic glaze or a spicy red glaze. The chicken was dry, quite a bit overcooked, and was not very enjoyable. No dipping sauce was provided for the chicken either. We received a plate of tteokbokki as well for our table -- even though it wasn't originally listed in the set menu, and this dish was honestly the best dish of the night (although admittedly, it's a dish that's hard to mess up). We added on a soy marinated crab ($40) to our order, since we seldom see it at restaurants, and it was actually pretty good. I've had soy marinated crab that's been too salty, but I felt like they allowed the natural flavor of the crab to shine through here. I wish a tad more rice was provided with this dish. Overall, Tang Jip has a fun, energetic atmosphere to watch a South Korea World Cup game, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. 3.5 rounding up to a 4.
this place has pretty quick service. you order on an iPad at your table. the items are pretty pricey but good. My friends and I really liked the bossam. The tteokbokki we got was warm but the rice cakes itself weren't that good, some were soft but most were very hard. I would come again though to try the raw marinated crab since I've heard good things about it. Decent seating inside.
This was my first time visiting Tang Jip on a Saturday afternoon. They were very busy and ran out of a couple of dishes we'd hoped to order, including the Bossam. Their banchan was excellent as well in terms of quality and flavor profile, but unfortunately no refills were available as they were short staffed in the kitchen and had also run out. We ordered the spicy galbi jjim, raw marinated crab, and rose tteokbokki. My favorite was the raw marinsted crab for how sweet and fresh the crab was. I appreciated the side of rice and seaweed they provided, along with the gloves to eat the crab legs. The galbi jjim was good too, though the serving size was smaller than I expected. The cheese on top adds to the flavor, but makes it hard to see what you're grabbing from the dish. I ended up getting a lot of potatoes and carrots and unfortunately not much meat. Overall, Tang Jip was great and I would bring friends and family to eat here again the next time I'm in the East Bay.
I recently tried Tang Jip and it's nice to have a Korean restaurant like this in the East Bay. I appreciate having a local option nearby. We ordered the spicy galbi jjim. The flavor was good but I found the meat a little tough. I also wasn't a huge fan of the banchan. The service was good though! While I still find myself preferring some of the Korean spots in Fremont and Milpitas, I'd be willing to come back and give Tang Jip another try.
This place was pretty good. For one, their side dishes definitely made me feel at home. Now the entrees. Spicy chicken bbq was okay, too sweet and flavor was basically tteokbokki sauce. Corn cheese was delicious but pricy. It was perfectly sweet, cheesy, and savory. Naengmyun was disappointing. I'm a naengmyun maniac and this is exactly what I didn't want. I'm from KTown in LA so I know Bay Area naengmyun are usually hit or miss (I still have yet to find a spot that even remotely compares to my favorite spots in KTown). The broth was both flavorless and bland, noodles were whatever. Wouldn't get it again. Tofu soup: absolutely delicious. This might be the best tofu soup I've had in the Bay, San Jose/Santa Clara areas. Overall would recommend!
I visited this newly opened Korean restaurant on Saturday at lunchtime. The interior decor is stylish and distinctive, and the seating is spacious and comfortable. Each table has an electronic ordering system with photos, making it easy to choose dishes. The six complimentary side dishes were all quite good, and the staff proactively refilled them. However, the portions were rather small for the price. The food quality was decent overall, but the sizzling beef lacked the smoky grilled aroma I was expecting.

I came here for dinner with friends recently and thought it wasn't bad! Spacious restaurant with quick service. My friends and I got their soondubu, galbijjim, and rose tteokbokki. Overall, I thought it was okay. Their banchan selection was really good and fresh, with good variety. We also loved their rose tteokbokki and soondubu as it was flavorful and done well. I felt that their galbijjim was too overcooked and dry though, so it was a shame and we didn't finish it. read more
I've ordered to go and have dined in. Both times have been great. The galbijjim tastes good as is but I recommend adding the cheese. It tastes especially good if it gets a little crispy on the sides of the bowl. The meat was easy to eat. My friend devoured 3 ribs. The vegetables and rice cakes in the pot were soft and full of flavor.The sauce at the bottom of the bowl had a lot of flavor. You could eat it with rice. The spicy marinated crab came with a bowl of rice with toppings. They give you gloves to eat it with. It wasn't spicy. The spice just added flavor. 1 of our crabs wasn't good but the rest were really good. The rose tteobokki was also a table hit. First time visiting Tang Jip. I went on a Sunday night. The inside was quite busy. My table waited 30 minutes to get off the waitlist. Unfortunately some items on the menu sold out and we had to cancel one of our orders as a result. The banchan did not come with refills as the kitchen was underprepared or understaffed. The food was amazing. We got the galbi jjim with extra cheese and rose tteokbokki. Those were my favorite. Restroom was clean but out of paper towels. Parking is adjacent to the building or street. read more

Got to try this place again with a bigger group which means more variety! We made reservations for a group of 6 at 630pm on Saturday and I'm glad we did because it was packed! Favorite of the night was the raw marinated crab! Perfectly marinated and lots of roe which was the best part! It comes with the rice and toppings (pictured below) and you mix it together to make the perfect bite. The galbi jjim was a little too salty for me even with the rice but it was still good. I loved that it had pumpkin, carrots and rice cakes in it! We added ramen in it and I highly recommend it! Always a good time ! read more
I was in the area and had driven past Tang Jip many times, so I finally decided to give it a try. The restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived. We ordered the seafood pancake and the soondubu jjigae. We had hoped to order a few more dishes, but since we were dining with our toddler, we asked if the spice level could be adjusted. Unfortunately, they couldn't accommodate that request, so we kept our order simple. They served about six varieties of banchan. We're a bit spoiled because our usual Korean restaurant offers closer to ten with a wider variety, so this felt a little underwhelming by comparison. The seafood pancake was nicely crispy but a bit bland. The soondubu jjigae, on the other hand, was flavorful and definitely the highlight of the meal. The service was noticeably slow. Even though there weren't many diners, it took quite a while for all of our dishes to arrive. The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance and is clean and comfortable. This place exceeded my expectations. Absolutely delicious, it is a bit pricey but worth it. Yelp had a wait but we were seated as soon as we walked in. Parking is around but that area parking is a nightmare. Love the combo since I like both. Service was fast, we ordered using the table-side ordering system. Fast and easy to pay. The servers brought everything out fast and they were friendly. Very clean and simple. Cute decor. read more

Great addition to downtown Hayward. We need a good Korean restaurant in this side, and this one has marinated soy crab which the other Korean restaurant in Hayward does not have. We were worried about parking but found plenty in the back but it's right next to an adult store - hmmm:) It seems safe though. The place was modern, and very clean. I can't believe this used to be a Japanese restaurant before Service was top notch, and they asked if we have been there before, if we knew how to eat the raw crab, and explained in good detail what to do. Our favorite was the Rose Tteokbokki, it was soft but not too soft, and the sauce tasted so good. The raw crab was rich, and the extra rice definitely helped. We liked how you can order a combo of soft tofu soup with meat. Small plates but enough so you get variety to share. read more

Seoul inspired Korean comfort food! This is a nice "fancy" ish new spot in downtown Hayward. We came on a Wednesday night for dinner and the place was packed! Portions were big and their tofu soup was really good. You can choose your spice level, we got medium and it had a nice kick to it. We came here for the raw marinated crab! First off, parking is a little challenging. There's a small parking lot, but some street parking, as well. When we entered, we noticed the decor was pretty nice! Restaurant seemed clean and each table had an ordering tablet. We placed our order and within about 10 minutes, all of our food came out hot and fresh (with the exception of the raw marinated crab). -Soy raw marinated crab: comes with rice that has fish roe, seaweed salad, dried seaweed, and maybe some sort of radish. If you order an extra order of this rice it's +$9. The raw marinated crab had a good amount of flavor, and was very fresh. A bit on the pricey side, but I guess it might be straight from Korea. You don't get to pick the size of the crab like some other restaurants in SoCal. -seafood pancake: came out so hot and crispy, lots of seafood. Felt like this was done very well. -seafood soon tofu: came out bubbling hot and remained hot for a long time. Comes with an egg you can crack into it to cook. It came with a lot of tofu and seafood, which made this dish so worth it. We got spicy for heat level and it was perfect for spice lovers! Banchan was very fresh. I really enjoyed the pickled kimchi radish. It has a bit of sweetness I enjoy. The fish cake was sliced into thin pieces. There was also soybean sprouts, japchae (a bit on the plain side), and kimchi. Unfortunately the staff didn't check in with us outside of dropping off our dishes, so we didn't really get Banchan refills, as other reviewers mentioned. Service was otherwise fairly friendly. Tang Jip might be my favorite casual Korean spot in the East Bay. Everything hits and the portions are so worth it. You need to get these dishes: Galbijjim - I love how the tender beef complements the salty savory sauce, with bits of rice cakes and pumpkin in the mix! Soy marinated crab, mix it with roe and their rice bowl and it's unreal. I recommend trying the spicy raw marinated crab for elevated flavors. Soon tofu combo: your choice of bbq meats + tofu soup under $30. This would definitely be my go to here. Such a good value set, I really enjoyed my bulgogi and seafood tofu soup. Galbi tang, so comforting and clean tasting with chunks of beef and glass noodles. Plus they don't hold back on the six yummy banchan (side dishes) and are quick with refills, which I love. I door dashed this one since my littles were a little too cranky to go out tonight. I thought I'd try out the spicy raw marinated crab, and it was delicious! A good portion so I can eat it for two meals but that's just me personally. I wish it came with a packet of seaweed to eat with the rice and crab, but I do have some on hand at home. I wonder if it is available when you're at the restaurant. I'd definitely order again when I'm too lazy to make it myself. The banchan was delicious, I ate all of the radish and the fish cake. Bright and clean. Order on the table-side computer which has photos of everything The alcohol says sold out but it isn't. The makeoli all has fructose, sucralose or aspartame unfortunately, though I'm not surprised. It's hard to find at American Korean restaurants. We ordered the dolsat beef. Small amount of meat but a large amount of vegetables-- so I was full at the end and this was healthy. The rice got evenly crisp without being too oily The banchan was pretty good. I'm a no- spice girl and there were 3 dishes for me The dolsot was flavorful without adding gochuchang We will return and try the marinated crab and bulgogi and soup!! Banchan is super flavorful! We got kimchi fried rice, seafood pancake, cold noodles, pork soup, and Tonkotsu. Literally you can't go wrong with anything. Prices are a bit steep but it's pretty worth it. Kimchi Fried Rice: 3/5 Solid but a bit mushy Seafood Pancake: 4.5/5 Perfectly Crispy Cold Noodles: 4/5 Deliciously Chewy Chicken Katsu: 4/5 Homey Gamja Tang: 4.5/5 So soothing and homey :) Will definitely come back again. 4.5/5 read more

Tang Jip is owned by the same business woman who also founded the Ohgane Korean restaurants in the Bay Area. I believe there is also an Oakland location of Tang Jip. We visited the Hayward location. The vibe is very modern with some classic details.Along the walls are displays of Korean ceramics and fine arts. On every table there is a laminated pamphlet informing patrons about Tang Jip's philosopy and use of high quality ingredients. This set up a high expectations for the food, and fortunately, our expectations were met. The banchans (side dishes) foretold a promising meal. The taste of each dish was incredible. The kimchees were fresh and crisp. Chapchae was not soggy. Tofu skins were delicate and mild. For our entrees were had the rose tteokbokki, spicy pork + Naengmyeon combo, pork belly bossam, beef bulgogi and Soon Tofu soup combination, and dumpling soup with rice cakes. The rose tteokbokki in creamy rose spicy sauce was really tasty. The pork belly was great with the different dipping sauces and included kimchee. The tofu soup and dumpling soups were satisfying. They even included a raw egg for you to add to the tofu soup. The cold noodle was refreshing and not too spicy. The BBQ meats had great flavor, but the portions could be more especially since there were quite a bit of sautéed onions underneath. This is our only complaint. Otherwise, the restaurant delivered on its promise of top notch quality ingredients. read more

Grabbed dinner here on a Saturday night and it was lively but not full so we were able to get a seat immediately. It seemed like a popular place for families and bigger friend group dinners as well. The service was great. They came by often to refill water and ban chan. The food was great! You dont see many places anymore that do the meat & tofu soup combo! The meats were good, cooked well and flavorful. The tofu soup hit the spot just right! The bossam was decent but I would skip next time. A little on the pricier side, but it's the economy we live in. Would come back next time we come up to the area! read more
Wait: waited 1 hr for a table for 6 on Sunday night (Father's Day). The waiting area is sub optimal. They have a huge island that is employees only but they never go back there so i suggest removing that & making more space for people to wait. It's very crowded & hot otherwise. Also. There was a lady on her laptop for literally 45 min after eating & she took up a whole 4 person table. Why would the staff not kindly ask her to leave. This is NOT A COFFEE SHOP. NOT FOR WORKING. There were so many (10+) parties waiting. Food: so good. Seafood pancake was crispy & had lots of seafood. I normally don't like cuz soggy but this was delish. Tofu soup bulgogi combo was ok - quite small. Seollontang was good & bland & i like that you put your own salt. Bossam was delish too with the samjang. Bibim naengmyeon tasted like ones I've had in Korea. Yum. Banchan is also good!! Would def come back to try the budae jiggae or Galbijjim. read more
