    OG Pork Cutlet Katsu! 5/5
    Keen B.

YUMMMMM EEEEE! Been here twice already and both times it did not disappoint. This time we ordered the King Katsu. When this thing arrived on our table Katsu was bigger than the plate itself. We also ordered the Original Katsu Curry. Both dishes came with rice, salad, soup and some pickled radish and onions. Son ordered the Rose Katsu came with Ttoboki and fishcake. All was delicious. We came pretty early when they opened around 1115 am we were the first customers. Food came out pretty fast. Fresh and Hot! Workers kept checking on us to make sure we are doing good! We will be back definitely!

One bite into the pork katsu was all I needed to become a fan-girl! Its crispy exterior and juicy interior was perfectly cooked. Dip it into the curry gravy and it'll set you into a dream state. Hmm!!! I walked in and ordered to-go through the kiosk. The lady brought my order out and I was on my merry way. One of my favorite things to eat is curry udon. Could use a little heat but otherwise very flavorful. Notes: lots of parking. Friendly. Seats available for dine in.

Yumee Katsu has expanded into another strip mall location, this time in Castro Valley. This casual restaurant specializes in katsus (breaded cutlets) served alongside Korean-style noodle dishes. The Shrimp Curry Udon came with three breaded shrimps on top of udon in a thick curry sauce, served with shredded cabbage salad, pickled onions, pickled daikon, and miso soup. The Jjolmyon were cold, chewy noodles in a spicy sauce, topped with shredded green/red cabbage, seaweed, carrots, scallions, zucchini, and a hard-boiled egg. Mixed together, this made for a cool, refreshing noodle dish. On the side, we got a Cheese Katsu, made of ooey, gooey cheese wrapped in a slice of pork, all in a crispy breading. My favorite entree (though not by far) was the Rose Toppoki Cutlet, made of chewy cylindrical rice cakes and slices of fish cake in a creamy, sweet, spicy, savory tteokbokki sauce, all topped with a pork cutlet. The best part of this dish was the creamy, flavorful sauce, which went nicely not just with the rice cakes, but with the perfectly crusted pork katsu too! Overall, the food here was delicious and on point. The tablet ordering and the service were quick and no frills, and everything came at a good value too!

Vibes were a little off. The seating is hella tight, like too tight for comfort. Especially if you come with a family or group of 3+ Came by for dinner with some girlfriends and we all arrived at different times. There was a huge party that was trickling in that seemed to also be a reserved table. You order via tablet so food order is first come first serve. It's not great for a reservation type situation, but also for the other tables if you happen to be dining in at the same time as a larger group. It's chaotic and the restaurant is so small that you're just watching the noise unfold. I got the chicken curry and my friends got the cheese cutlet as well as the assorted cutlet. My chicken curry was probably the best. They truly do panko fry the cutlets to the perfect crunch vs tender ratio. The cheese cutlet was a little too rich, so you might want to order the assorted combo so at least you have variety. I enjoyed my chicken curry, it was very filling and I demolished the whole plate. Service is kind, and they're doing their best. I think management has some work to do. The tablets are bolted down so it's awkward for all members to get a chance to look at the menu without neck pain and reaching over other diners. There are other katsu spots in the Bay, and unfortunately Yumee was not it for me.

Came in on a Wednesday evening and was immediately seated! We got the assorted katsu cutlet, curry katsu udon, yumee soba noodles, and rose toppoki cutlet. The cutlets were delicious, the toppoki was the prefect level of spice, and our highlights were definitely the noodles!! Casual space for a dinner to catch up with friends over a comfort meal. Quick service and nice staff, would definitely come back again!

This is a fairly new restaurant. We came here after walking around the cherry festival on Saturday. We arrived around 2:30pm and still lots of people! I thought it was weird that some tables had a ipad connected to it to order, but half did not. So we waited for the server to come. We got the pork loin cutlet udon and the regular pork loin cutlet. We both enjoyed our meals overall. But the only thing is we both thought the pork was a bit dry inside. Wish it was more moist. The outside was very crispy/crunchy so that was great. Sauce was great and I like hot they gave us salad, soup, and some radish. Good for the price now a days. It was a smaller restaurant, so it got full qucikly.

Friendly workers greeted us as we walked in. The place was packed and was difficult to seat a table of four. It was a bit loud and there were some young kids who were yelling. However the food was absolutely incredible. The Katsu was crunchy, and the spicy pork was sweet with a nice kick. I want to try all the different combinations. But maybe next time I'll order to go.

Came during lunch on a Saturday and we didn't have to wait too long. The place is pretty small but has a nice cozy feel to it. Service was quick and easy since we order off the iPad. We waited maybe 10-15 mins for food since it was packed when we went. Food was 10/10! The kimchi they used was nicely fermented so it gave off the right amount of tang. The curry was curry, nothing to die for but still very good! Definitely would come again for a quick and easy meal :)

We came as a group of 7 and got seated almost immediately as a group had just left. The restaurant is small so larger groups may not do well here. Order on the table on the table, the staff does come around and see if you have any questions We ordered 6 dishes and did family style. Well got the pork and chicken cutlet and the large katsu. The pork and chicken cutlets we got had a nice crispy breading but it was definitely overcooked. It was rather dry and definitely relied on the sauces of the dish to help with the texture. The shrimp tempura was good but the curry wasn't anything special. The large cutlet was the best but it is very thin. Overall I wouldn't go out of my way to come back but if another friend suggested coming here I wouldn't be opposed.

    Katie M.

Yumee Katsu is a solid spot when you are craving katsu. Overall, the food is good, flavorful, and satisfying, with a menu that offers a nice variety of katsu and curry dishes. My main critique is that the breading was a bit too thick while the meat itself was too thin for the king cutlet. I prefer their regular katsu where the meat is thicker. The cheese katsu was definitely the standout. The crispy exterior paired with the gooey stretchy cheese made for a delicious bite. The curry was also well done - rich, flavorful, and comforting without being overly heavy. However, their portion felt slightly small for the price. While there areas that could be improved, the food is undeniably tasty and well-seasoned. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

Combination katsu (pork, cheese, and shrimp)
    Rosa C.

Yumee Katsu is tucked away in a busy shopping plaza, but don't let that fool you. This spot pulls a good crowd during lunch and dinner times. My friend and I each got something different--I got the spicy tukbokke katsu, which came with crispy and tender pork katsu, and soft & chewy rice cakes. I loved the spicy sauce and all of the pickled items & salad that came with the set meal. My friend got the combination katsu which looked soooo good. I tried a piece of the cheese katsu and it was creamy and light. Def want to try that next time!

The place is clean, but it seemed like they were understaffed because we had to wait for a while before someone turned around to get their attention to be seated. There were tablets on every table and that's how you order. The fried items were good, but the curry was just okay. Overall, neither food nor service left a strong impression but also nothing was bad.

It was my first time visiting this establishment so I took my time reading the menu descriptions. She also advised me my order would take about 10 minutes to be ready. I also found that helpful. I was able to find a seat and even check out a couple other stalls. I didn't realize I would pick up my order at the other end of the stall near the meat counters. I actually think my number had been called but I was expecting to retrieve my order from the same counter I ordered from. The tacos were tasty and had a even filling ratio. Each bite was good. I decided to split my street tacos into two by dividing up the filling. It made me think I was eating a larger portion. I preferred the flavor of the kalbi taco. The meal was satisfying enough.
