Went to Brothers Barbecue for a special family occasion! as always the service was super warm and welcoming it really has that family feel every time. Since it was my family's first visit, I ordered a little of everything: two tofu soup combos (spicy which will always be my favorite), kalbi, bulgogi, spicy chicken, teriyaki chicken, and bibimbap for the first time. Everything came out quickly and looked great photo-worthy. I already knew the food would be good, but my family loved it too. Much improved from our last visit two years ago. They have lunch combo specials and a Bo Sam as an appetizer. Not common as you usually see Bo Sam as a special. The Bo Sam is inexpensive and easily feeds 4 as an appetizer, the only small dislike was the pork belly was a bit fatty but quantity wise was a good size of 15 pork belly slices and 6 long lettuce leaves. We put it in the oven that night and it crisped up and melted some of the fat away - Perfect. The combo Spicy Pork and Cold Noodle Soup was also large and easily feeds two if you were to share. Visited with some friends for weeknight dinner and it wasn't too busy. Tables set up for cooking at the table yourself or having them cook it in their kitchen and bringing the food out to you. Food, really good! Service, exceptional! We came here on a random date night and we were so pleasantly surprised! Parking is abundant and we were seated right away. They have lots options for cooked food but we wanted to bbq our own food and that has a minimum of 2 entrees to order. The brisket was so good!! So tender, not chewy at all. I wouldn't mind getting 2 orders of this next time. We also got the marinated short ribs which were also good. On the sweeter side so might want to get the unmarinated one next time but still tasty. I've driven past this spot for years and finally decided to try it out. We went on a Saturday night around 7pm, and surprisingly it wasn't too crowded. Whenever they're in town, my customers from Korea always come here and say it's comparable--if not better--than KBBQ back home, so I had to see what the hype was about. At first, the pricing threw me off since I'm more used to AYCE KBBQ places. My friend and I ended up ordering the medium beef combination tray ($120), which turned out to be the perfect amount for the two of us--honestly, we could have eaten a little less. The quality of the meat was excellent, probably the best I've had at a KBBQ place. Service was also on point. The staff was very attentive, quick to refresh our banchan, and made sure our grill stayed clean throughout the meal. Solid KBBQ spot here in San Leandro. In fact, it's where my now-boyfriend and I went for our first date. I've been here with my mom before, and the food was great. When I came here with her, I enjoyed a hot stone bibimbap. So when a match from Coffee Meets Bagel and I were planning a date, and he asked to treat me out to dinner, I sent him options from Yelp, and he chose this one. Driving here is pretty easy despite being right by Bart and the train tracks. There's a fair amount of parking in the back. The restaurant itself is very spacious with plenty of seats. Date went so well, we just dove into conversation once we got seated, and it wasn't until a waitress came to ask us if we were ready to order that we realized we hadn't ordered anything yet. We went for standard KBBQ fare, including bulgogi. Our waitress was amazing with helping us cutting our meat, replacing the grill, and being so attentive. We enjoyed our dinner date so much, we ended up being the last ones in the restaurant, and got kicked out at closing time. The service was good, when we sat down they informed us that the kitchen is a little backed up and may take longer than usually if i didn't order the self cooking meats, which was nice because most place won't tell you until you're already pissed off from waiting. Kimchi Fried Rice was good, not too oily. Vegetable Tofu Soup was good. Beef Bulgogi had good flavor but the quality of the meat is not good very chewy. Came here on a Monday during lunch time. My co worker has been hyping this place up for a while and I'm glad I tried it out. My partner and I ordered the lunch combo which comes with vegetable tofu soup, rice, ban chans, and choice of meat. We picked spicy pork as our meat option. All this food for $27 is a great deal. The portion is enough for two people to share. The spicy pork, tofu soup, and all the ban chans were delicious. The japchae ban chan was my favorite. Customer service is also outstanding. Came craving soondubu (Korean tofu soup) and left a little confused but altogether not unsatisfied. We arrived around 5pm on a weeknight and were quickly seated by our attentive and not unfriendly waitress. The ambiance was a little Korean ish with dramas in the background but not overwhelmingly k-poppy. After perusing the menu, I went for the vegetarian tofu soup with dumplings (+$2 for the meat addition) and my husband had the spicy cold buckwheat noodles. We really enjoyed the selection of 9 banchan presented (with complimentary refill) as we waited a few minutes for our dinner. The bean sprout banchan and broccoli banchan were our favorites! My tofu soup came smelling and tasting like no soondubu I've ever had before - it smelled very meaty and kind of like a meatball, and tasted different too. It wasn't bad tasting but just different, and was loaded with tofu, egg, and zucchini bits and yummy with rice. My husband's cold noodles came in a bowl that looked small but the portion was chewy and filling with a good sauce to noodle ratio. Beware that there is a small fee for takeout containers and prices for dishes aren't cheap (but nor are they expensive for Korean food in the bay? Our dishes were about $20 each). Food: They give you several banchans (Fishcake, Japchae, blanched beansprouts, blanched broccoli, crispy potatoes, kimchi, spicy radish, spicy mungbean sprouts, and spicy pickled cucumbers). All fresh tasting, and well prepared. Beef Pancake: Korean Style Pancake with beef and assorted vegetables. Usually, you don't see beef pancake on the menu in most Korean restaurants, as they usually just have the seafood pancake and/or a kimchi pancake. The beef was tasty and meaty, like thick. We've ordered this several times. LA Grilled Short Ribs: Grilled Short Ribs marinated in a sweet soy sauce. These were tender and had a nice flavor. Served on a hot plate and on bed of grilled onions. Grilled Beef (bulgogi): Grilled thinly sliced beef marinated in a sweet soy sauce. Also served on a hotplate with slightly grilled onions. Parking was easy to find since it's in a plaza like area. We immediately got seated. I tried to order and another staff pointed at the waitress that would take our order so we waited for her to take our order. At all other Korean restaurants I've been to, the side dishes is given to you right after you order or even as you're looking over the menu. We were getting a bit hungry waiting for what we ordered, and we waited a while to see if they'd bring the side dishes to us. I flagged a waitress down and asked if there's banchan (side dishes) and she said "yes" and then walked away. We waited again because I was confused if that "yes" meant she would be bringing side dishes. Nothing came after we waited so I asked her again and she said it usually comes with your food and I asked her if we can just get it now. She honestly looked like she did not want to give it to us but ended giving it to us. This honestly made the whole experience just unsatisfactory. The meat was ok quality. The soups were average. Quality/Quantity - Well, we did not share with our friends until after they ordered that we have been on a health kick. Going to have to start all over after this meal. Wait, I am leaving for Las Vegas in two days... No diet or eating healthy for me... Salad, complimentary - NOT enough for 4 people. My wife could have eaten this all by herself. Spicy Beef with Korean Cabbage Soup - One of our guests really likes this. The other 3 of us said it needed more flavor and more spices. So he ate and drank most of this soup. Grilled Pan Fried Flounder - Deep fried, minimum meat and sadly minimum flavor. But the fry was good. Pork Belly - Two orders, looked fresh and good. Very thick and fatty, just the way our guest likes it. But not marinated, which is what we all would have preferred. Minimum veggies and we had to ask for more. And they did not charge us for extra veggies. The only veggie options were mushrooms and onions... Marinated Short Ribs - The hit of the meal. Look at the marbling on that meat! Also of good quantity. Our guest took the bones home for their dogs. The waitress also offered to grill the bones for us, since they were larger than our grill. Banchan - Unlimited refills, and no hassle with the refills; thank you. Decent selection. But again, the flavors were just NOT impactful... Kloud beer - Smooth and refreshing, complements well with our lunch. We used to be regulars at Han Dae Gam, until Brian the owner passed away. We miss him and their food. Atmosphere - I appreciate you letting more natural light in, I always thought it was too dark with the previous owners. The bathrooms still look exactly the same. No change from the previous owners. Actually most of the interior looks the same. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 10pm. Small shared mall parking lot, but very few customers on this Sunday lunch day. Service - The two waitresses were okay. The owner is not that friendly. Well at least not to us. I went out of my way to say hi and bye. He sat in the corner "watching" the shop. Price - $283 + generous tip. Expensive for what we got. We had to "fight" our good friends for the bill. They got here first (30 minutes early) just to make sure they paid. They left their credit card with the waitress. We were able to negotiate with the waitress to at least split the bill in half, since no one would let us pay.
