Pho Ga Huong is in the same strip mall as DT Dim Sum albeit on the opposite side and at the far end. Years ago, when I worked in the area, it was a Chinese restaurant that I had lunch at on occasion. Recently, I came across the reviews for Pho Ga Huong Que. The very positive comments made me add this restaurant to my list of places to try. Last week, we had no plans and lots of time for lunch, so I made the drive over. We arrived before opening and sat outside for a few minutes. When the time came, we entered. A woman sitting at the first booth greeted us and directed us to a booth. Menus were presented as was hot tea. The restaurant appeared to be clean and well-spaced even though it was not huge. Other guests entered and were seated. Our orders were taken. Very quickly, the food began to arrive. Fried Shrimp Cake - 3 - These fried very well, crispy on the outside. Inside, however, the cake itself was very similar to Japanese Kamaboko (Fish Cake). We didn't notice a distinctive shrimp flavor. Beef Stew Noodle Soup - 5 - She ordered this with Pho Noodles. Everything about this bowl was spot on. From the broth and the noodles to the beef. Perfect cold weather food. Oxtail Noodles Soup - 5 - I ordered mine with Egg Noodles. Among the many foods that I'm a freak for; a good Oxtail is something that I'm always on the seeking. I would have to say that this bowl was even better than her Beef Stew. We ate, we enjoyed, we conversed. When we were done, we asked for a couple of containers. Her for the soup and noodles that she couldn't finish. Me, for the one Oxtail remaining plus the remainder of my broth. My wife went up to register and paid. Because the receipt had not be delivered to our table, I estimated how much lunch had cost to compare to what she paid. She looked at the receipt and appeared confused before handing it to me. I looked at it and suggested that she show it to the cashier who was once again sitting in the booth behind us. The cashier took a look at the receipt, and then a closer look with an intake of breath. She apologized profusely and explained that there was an error on our check. The 71-cents that we had paid was incorrect! I told her that we had suspected as much as she worked to recalculate the correct amount. My offer to tell all of our friends, family and neighbors about how inexpensive the restaurant was not enough to dissuade her from charging us the correct amount. Oh well. Apparently, she entered 59-cents as the sub-total when the correct amount was $59.00. All's well that ends well. We'll be back!
Probably the best bowl of Pho Ga in the Bay Area. Chicken in the #1 was very tender, perfectly cooked, silky, an d smooth chicken meat. The broth is clean, flaborsful, an d delicious. Each bowl of chicken pho comes with the scallion and ginger oil. A perfect compliment to the soft chicken meat. I also ordered the egg rolls. Very delcious and hot out of the oil Customer service was great. Quickly cleaned, table was clean I was arrived.Table stocked with condiments and utenils. Staff was very friendly. Asked me whether I preferred tea or water.The menu gives you a choice of noodle types. I prefer ho fun or thickerice noodles. You cna choose bun pho which is ricw noodles typically assoctaed with pho, thin. or eg noodles.They accept credit card. I would definitely come back here for a really delicious and coomforting bowl of chicken noodle soup, Vietnamese style.
One of my go-to spots for chicken pho! I used to go to their location in Oakland (which was closer), so I was a little bummed out when they relocated further away from me, but they take card as a form of payment now (which wasn't an option before) so it's not so bad. They have a lot of things to choose from but I usually order the shredded chicken pho with the skinny pho noodles. Broth is delicious on its own so I don't add anything extra but sriracha and pickled peppers for spice, as well as their ginger scallion sauce on the side for dipping (but they do have condiments that you can add if needed). Vietnamese iced coffee is always a nice addition but I was so full so I skipped out on that this time. Place is usually packed so keep that in mind. It's a decent size place but does fill up fast. Clean and well maintained. This restaurant is located in a shared parking lot with other stores so parking fills up fast on the weekends otherwise weekdays are fine. Again, so many things to choose from. Love coming here for a comforting meal.
I'm a big pho ga fan and have always been loyal to Turtle Tower, but a bunch of friends told me Pho Ga Huong Que is just as good (if not better), so I was really excited to check it out. My first attempt was a couple weeks ago right after they moved locations but the line was out the door. Came back this past Sunday for lunch and walked right in, no wait. My husband ordered the bone-in chicken noodle soup with pho noodles, and I went for the shredded chicken noodle soup with ho fun. What I liked: -Love that you can choose between bone-in or shredded chicken. I usually go shredded because it's less work/messy, bone-in always has great flavor. -you can pick your noodles! Most places just default to pho noodles so it's nice to have variety. -Portions are generous, especially the chicken -Service was fast The broth at Turtle Tower is still better in my opinion, and I'd skip the egg rolls next time.

It has been a VERY long time since we ate here. Actually, the previous time was with the previous owners/business. Today we got the following: Fish Ball Noodle Soup with Pho Noodles - Of course my daughter's choice and with NO veggies?!?! This looked so plain... I know I could have made this better at home! My wife shared some of her wontons with my daughter to add to the flavor. See pictures. I am sure this is NOT what my daughter had in mind when she craved Pho. This was much more of a "Chinese" dish rather than Vietnamese. Update - My daughter mentioned that she could not find regular thinly sliced beef pho as an option. And she thought fish balls were beef balls... Wonton Noodle Soup - Also as plain as my daughter's dish. Again, more of a Chinese dish rather than Vietnamese. #24 Fried Pork Chop, Chicken, Egg with Steamed Rice - Fried fresh and perfectly done! My pork chop and chicken were 5 stars! Everything else was just okay. Ambiance - Very small local business. Decent size parking lot, but not enough spaces for this busy mall. We got lucky and got a space fairly close to the restaurant. Not stressed as we planned to shop at Foodnet after lunch. Service - Had to ask for everything. Hard to get their attention as they just hung around the first booth talking and talking and talking. The hardest worker was the runner, probably the only employee that was not family...? Price - $66 + more generous tip than deserved or earned. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location since 2024. And your previous location in Oakland, etc. The previous location was known for their chicken, chicken noodle soup, etc.

I want to start off by saying that I really didn't expect much. I don't care for steamed chicken like that, and pho ga (chicken pho) isn't my usual go to, but the BF said this place was the ultimate chicken noodle spot in Oakland, so of course we had to give their new location a try. WELLL WELL WELLL! Looks like this move was the comeback that they needed, cause their new location is clean and they now offer a special chili paste that's hellaaaaa good! They have the usual condiments on the table and I like that they have wrapped disposable chopsticks for use. The special chili paste is brought to your table, so if you don't get one, make sure you ask. They also give you a little scoop of the ginger scallion oil if you get anything with steamed chicken (rice or noodle). They have pickled jalapenos too but you gotta ask for that as well! BF had the #1 with the steamed chicken with bone, and giblets. This comes with liver too just FYI. I had the #13 chow chew noodle (chao chiu on their menu). We both got ours with ho fun noodles, but you can choose between several types. First of all, the bowls are hella big. Price tag is about $17 now, so at least the portions match. The wait wasn't too bad, and they do load up the bowls with the proteins. They only give you steamed bean sprouts on the side, but we asked for extra cilantro for our bowls and that wasn't an issue. The chow chew ho fun had hella goodies! Lot of fish balls, meat balls, shrimp and ground pork! A lot of y'all swear by VH but I personally would eat this over VH any day! Pro move - mix the ginger scallion with the chili paste, hoisin and sriracha. Dip the pickled jalapeno slices in there and top your bites of noodle or rice or whatever you're eating with this. SO FREAKING GOOD. Parking lot is shared by a whole plaza. Expect a wait if you're dining during peak hours, as the inside is pretty small. They do take Apple pay and CC, but $15 minimum!
Don't sleep on the eggrolls. They are cooked to crispy perfection. We also like the beef stew and noodle soups. They have thought of every possible noodle combination you could want, with or without giblets. Be sure to ask for the house chili sauces to create your perfect bite!
Went for a late lunch and had: - Fried Egg Rolls, crispy, nothing to wrap around and a bit small. Just ok. - Beef Stew with Ho Fun Noodles, I thought there was a good amount of tender beef and gristle chunks, nice chew, right spice level soup while the wife thought the soup was a bit oily. - Shredded Chicken with Pho Noodles and Green Onion Ginger dipping sauce for the chicken. The soup was clean, sweet, light and not oily, noodles good, while the chicken. Tasted a bit off. Not sure how I would describe it, but the shredded chicken had an aftertaste that was not appealing. Service was decent, place has the ambiance of a restaurant in the middle of a southwest desert, food ok - I liked the Beef Stew noodles but not the other two items. Large parking lot with big spaces. Non-descript exterior, plain as a rectangular box with limited windows like a prison cell.
My favorite Chicken noodle spot in Oakland closed and opened up in San Leandro. The ladies remembered me and it felt good to support them. They took over a Pho spot I frequently go to and I was surprised they closed down. However, chicken bone-in with ho fun noodles and extra ginger/green onion paste. Just like how I remembered it. I think the bowls are a bit smaller than what I use to get from them before. Just happy they opened back up, in a much better place. Service is always good! Definitely try other things on the menu!
There's no better place for a big bowl of chicken pho than Pho Ga. I've been to their Oakland location many years ago and have been meaning to go again, so when I heard that they had relocated to San Leandro with longer hours, I was determined to make it here. I finally had the chance on a recent Friday afternoon. I got there at 5:30, right before they close, and it wasn't busy at all. The menu is pretty straightforward with two pages of rice plates and noodle options. I got the same thing I got before, the #2 shredded chicken pho with ho fun noodles for $15.95. They're fast here! No joke, my chicken pho came out within a minute of ordering. I first took a sip of the soup and it was just as good as I remember, with a rich and slightly sweet chicken flavor. The shredded chicken is bland on its own, but once you dip it in the ginger scallion crack sauce they have, it's so good! I really enjoyed my bowl of chicken pho, but I wish 1) they give you more ginger sauce by default (I had to ask for seconds) and 2) they offered different sizes. I was starving when I walked in, and even then I was struggling to finish the noodles and soup because it's a GIANT bowl. I would appreciate it if they offered a smaller bowl as well, for those with a smaller stomach. I paid ~$20 after tax and tip, so it's definitely not as cheap as it used to be. I miss the days when I could get the same bowl of chicken pho for less than 10 bucks...
Was so happy to hear that they were only moving locations, because I was about to be so sad that my favorite chicken spot was no longer around! Same owners, same great food, smaller space. The restaurant has about 12-14 tables, and can get quite busy. Takes around 10-15 minutes to get your food, so they're probably getting in the groove. But I can see myself coming here more often now that I don't have to go to Oakland and find street parking. They take card now! $15 minimum for credit card purchases.
Great food and great people. I am so glad they finally reopened and moved to San Leandro! What a blessing to have them in our community. I started loving their food since 12+ years ago and definitely best pho ga in the best area.... People serving us are super friendly and attentive. Lovely small family business. I still remember back in the days when they were still in Oakland and time really flies. I still love their pho ga. It's been my favorite to order half or one whole chicken, along with bowls of rice noodle or any noodle you want. Remember to ask for the chili sauce, which they stored it in fridge. I also love their Viet coffee too!! Strong and great balance with the condensed milk. I always love bringing my friends, families, and even coworkers to this place!
I love coming here for a nice comforting meal. The restaurant is tucked in the corner and it's small and homey. I always get number 5 which is the shredded white chicken breast. The chicken isn't dried compared to other pho places, it's nice and tender and they definitely don't skimp on it. The best part is the ginger sauce ! The broth is slightly on the sweeter but can be changed with some of the sauces on the table. I love that they offer cooked bean sprouts instead of the raw one. It does get quite busy so I usually come right at opening ! Lots of parking in the lot but it does get filled pretty quick. read more

Been eyeing this place since it opened and finally had the chance to try it over this weekend. Looking at these yelp reviews made me feel optimistic to check out a new chicken pho place. However I have to say I'm a bit disappointed by the service and the quality of the food here. The soup lacked depth in the flavor. It wasn't overly salty, but it's not rich in the way you'd expect a chicken pho to taste. The beef stew was slightly better, I loved how tender the beef was. It fell apart in your mouth, even the tendons were very soft and easy to eat. The milk tea and Thai tea were nothing special, but still pleasant to have along with the noodles. I wouldn't go out of my way for these noodles especially with how many other pho places there are in the area. read more
Pho Ga Huong Que is a solid rice and noodle spots. I stopped by for lunch and was really impressed with the flavors. The chicken pho was aromatic, with a clean, rich broth and tender meat that hit the spot. I also tried one of a rice plate -- everything was cooked just right, from the meat to the perfectly seasoned rice. The Vietnamese coffee was legit -- strong, smooth, and sweet, just how it should be. It gave me that nostalgic "back-in-Vietnam" kind of vibe. Only reason this isn't a five-star is the portion size for the meat. For both the pho and the rice plate, I found myself wishing there was just a bit more protein to round out the meal. Still, the quality and taste make it worth coming back. Friendly service and casual, no-frills atmosphere too. Definitely a place I'll revisit. read more

We came here on a weekend day and this place was super packed. There were a steady stream of people but we were able to get a table. We found out upon sitting down that they only make chicken broth here and not beef or any other type of broth. I ordered the plain noodles and my partner ordered the seafood noodle soup. We thought that the noodle portions were really generous. But the salt was a little on the saltier side, even if the flavors might be more muted due to the chicken broth. The egg rolls were fine but the mushroom was overpowering and there was not as much variety in the veggies as I would have liked. The Vietnamese coffee was strong even though a bit small. The Thai tea was good but on the sweeter side. Overall we enjoyed this spot even if we might order something different next time. read more
Located in the Windsor Square plaza and shares the parking lot with Food Net supermarket, DT dim sum and other businesses. This restaurant was formerly on 7th Ave in Oakland and found a new home after 30+ years I think?? Came here with my parents as a kid so it's been around a while! Anyway, cant go wrong with simple, hearty chicken noodle soup along with that tasty ginger scallion sauce on the side! The fried shrimp cake is good too! I wanted to come eat here after I saw a posting on social media. Many positive comments were made. Our 19th hole was here this past Tuesday. The eight of us arrived around 1pm to a line out the door. What stuck me was the footprint- the building is a bungalow raised off the ground. The interior housed booths along the wall with tables in the center. Very very narrow. We got two tables of four after our friend went in to ask how long the wait. Bypassed several customers waiting in line. The laminated menu is two sided. Chicken is the focus. Ordered- * sis & I both had the shredded chicken pho. Choice of noodle type. She had egg noodles and I had pho noodles. Other choices were Ho fun and vermicelli. The broth was excellent and the chicken was very flavorful. * hubby & BIL both had beef stew noodle soup. Both chose pho noodles. They both enjoyed their choice. I thought too much oil floating on top. I'm not sure I would order this dish. A small dish of parboiled bean sprouts was placed on the table for the four of us to share. Sis and got each got a small saucer of minced chopped green onions with oil for dipping our chicken. Once ordered our orders came quickly. When done you pay up at the front counter. Make sure you know your table number. We were in and out within an hour. The line vanished too. Easy parking in the strip mall. I'd return. read more
I was surprised this longtime Oakland pho house pulled up stakes in Little Saigon and moved to this somewhat remote location in San Leandro. The funny thing is that I had patronized the previous occupant of this space, Pho T&T, because it came midway through my walk from Marina Park (it was pretty good - review: https://yelp.to/09d_2q-XbG). The other irony was that I had tried Pho Ga Huong Que for the first time in its former location just a few months ago. I have to admit I was kinda disappointed with the pho ga I ordered back then but wanted to try it again because I need to support chicken pho places. So with all that in mind, I made it here and was immediately pleased with their new laminated menu, which still includes non-pho plates I need to try like the $15.95 Chicken with Hainan Rice and the $14.95 Scrambled Eggs and Shrimp over Rice. First thing there is a $15 Minimum for Credit Card Usage!!! Be aware !!! Warning posted on Front Counter!! I was in a Mood for Vietnamese food and noticed this was a new location for a once Oakland restaurant. So I decided to try them out today!!! Parking was a little Chaotic as this is an Asian Strip Mall Location and pretty busy all the time. I parked and walked in and was seated immediately.. I perused the Menu and ordered the Egg-rolls for an Appetizer!!! I ordered the Oxtails over Rice for my Main Entree!!! The Restaurant was a Packed House!!!! Service is Prompt and Attentive!!! There is usually a long line on the weekends but we visited on a Friday and was able to get a table upon arrival. The space is clean and service was quick. I ordered the bone in chicken with giblets. Overall a great meal. Chicken noodle soup always hit the spot. read more
I've wanted to try this place since people kept raving about it when they were in Oakland. After reading the reviews, people said the lines were long, so I tried to go during non-peak hours. I arrived at 1:45pm on the weekday, and three tables were available. I picked #2, which is shredded chicken pho, which has white and dark meat. If you want white meat only, then you want #5. I never order chicken pho since I'm a beef pho type of guy. I'll have to say this is the best chicken pho I've had. The broth is savory without tasting like too much MSG. The chicken is tender and not chewy like at some places. The pho comes with a side of steamed bean sprouts. I wish they had Thai basil, lime, and jalapenos. I also wish they had fried shallots in the pho, which would elevate it even more. The pho comes with ginger sauce to dip the chicken in, which is delicious. I highly recommend asking for their homemade sambal, which they keep refrigerated. I will come back if I ever crave chicken pho. read more

Pho Ga Huong Que is back in action after their move from Oakland to San Leandro. Same owners, same good food, just in a new, clean, safe location. The new spot is smaller than the old one with about 14 tables to sit at with some tables able to hold two to four people per table. It gets busy during lunch time, so expect a wait of 10 to 15 minutes around noon but it eases up after the lunch time rush. On this occasion I ordered: Chicken Pho: subtle broth with a huge portion of noodles. Shredded chicken and of course I put a little sriracha and ginger sauce to jazz up the pho. Excellent soup. Egg rolls: filled with mushrooms and shrimp, these little bite sized morsels are delicious. Hainan Chicken rice: simple dish. I probably will stick to the chicken in my pho but if you are in the mood for flavored rice, this is a good dish. Oxtails and rice: this is my favorite dish here. Tasty, fatty, rich, savory, awesomeness over rice. Come to poppa. Service was the same as the old spot. You'll get food and you'll be fine. Don't stress. Happy to see them back open. This used to be my favorite chicken noodle place in Oakland. I was so sad when they closed. They have it now here and though it's still good, I would have to say it's not as good as when it was originally in Oakland. The good thing now is that there's a bunch of parking and feels safer than Oakland. Ambience feels way better compared to before. Food is overall good. They're super fast at getting the food out. All the workers there are attentive so even if the waiter is busy, other people are just as attentive. We usually get a bowls of fresh ho fun and share either a full or half chicken. Their ginger scallion sauce is my favorite. read more
Replacing Pho T&T, Pho Ga Huong Que came swinging into the dro with delicious pho ga and huge portions. The service is quick, and they've expanded on the seating by a few tables compared to T&T. Overall, it looks about the same as before but there are now some funny chicken graphics on the wall haha. On a Saturday for lunch - it was packed! The star of the show is the chicken. It's incredibly umami and meaty! There's a giant portion of noodles - felt endless and almost excessive but I'm not complaining. The soup itself isn't something to write home about. It is meant to exemplify the chicken. It has a slight sweetness and very subtle chicken flavor - refreshing! Next time, I think I'll order the chicken on the side - noticed that's what a lot of people were doing and it looked way easier to enjoy/eat. +egg rolls were solid and I'd get them again as a side. My bestie and I went to try this place out since it's reopened, and it definitely left me slurping the broth! There were multiple noodle options, so as someone who loves rice noodles, that was my choice. The amount of seafood was alright, but I could always use an extra few pieces. Broth and noodle combo was on point. The ambiance: small family run restaurant, very minimalistic decoration but I do not disagree with that because the cash cow is coming from the food. Seems like everyone is looking for a hot bowl of soup to warm up too. Service was attentive. The waiter got our orders and our orders came to us in a timely fashion. I would come here again but I would expect a line to form on peak times as it is a small restaurant with enough seats for 30 people. read more
This was our 19th hole lunch. We've eaten at the previous Pho located here (and wasn't impressed) but Pho Ga Huong Que was on our radar to try. Arrived at 1:00 pm and long line out the door. We went into ask how long for 8 and we were immediately seated at two tables for four. Don't know how we bypassed the line? Our table of four each couple shared a bowl of Pho with choice of noodle and an eggroll appetizer. We ordered Won Ton with Ho Fun noodle. Other couple ordered Beef Stew with Ho Fun and an appetizer. The broth was excellent especially when we added a splash of Hoisin and hot sauce. The eggrolls were five short pieces; crispy crunchy and very good that came with a dip and a small salad like lettuce tomato. Even though very good rolls I felt pricey for the size of the rolls that you usually get when ordering eggrolls. I think this place is known for their chicken? We did enjoy the food and the clean atmosphere. It was very loud and noisy inside. We may be back but it's not easy to get table for eight so our group would probably always have to split up. That said we probably will be back because most of us did enjoy the food. read more

Pho Ga Huong Que relocated from Oakland to San Leandro and I honestly love the new location! It's located in a plaza, with parking and next to a Chinese grocery store. The inside is smaller than their old location, but their service is so quick that it really doesn't make a huge impact. I've been eating the Pho Ga here since I was a little girl and can say that the soup has been consistent since. I remember back in 2018, I ate their Pho Ga religiously every Sunday lol. The first sip of soup is always nostalgic. I get shredded chicken in my pho, but my mom prefers bone in chicken. Pho Ga Huong Que used to be in Oakland but recently moved to San Leandro. Its located in a plaza so there's parking. It's a smaller location but food is just as good! We came here on grand opening day and there was a short line when we got there for lunch. We ordered the plain noodle soup for $7.50 and a half fresh chicken for $18.95 (enough for 2). Also, tried the chicken giblets ($8.95), which was mostly gizzard. It did take awhile for the food to come out. The broth was clean and chicken was good but not too much flavor as the sauce adds a lot of flavor to it. You can also ask for extra sauce. The ho fun noodle was really good - silky and it doesn't break very easily. Portion was decent. read more
