I love this place. Order your meal first and sit down they have self serve water and tea. Their drinks are amazing, the broth is delicious everything Ive had here is always good. You get a good portion for the price. I love the seating as the dining room is huge and can easily accommodate large groups. The fresh pickled jalapeños are my favorite.
Came to Hanoi Chicken Noodle for a quick lunch with a friend. Service is quick and you order at the counter. They had combos where you can choose garlic noodles and the protein you want, and it comes with chicken broth on the side. I got the garlic noodles and popcorn chicken, which was tender but crispy. The noodles were garlicky and buttery which was perfectly balanced by the star of the lunch--the broth. I'd come here just for the broth, especially if I'm feeling under the weather.
I've been coming to Hanoi Chicken Noodle for a while now, and it genuinely pains me to write this because I used to love this place. But the quality has been on a steady decline, and my last visit was enough to make me speak up. The rice noodles have been a recurring disappointment -- every time I order them, they arrive broken up and mushy, which completely ruins the texture of the dish. It feels like they're either overcooked, sitting too long, or just not being handled with care anymore. Today I decided to switch things up and try the garlic noodles, hoping for something garlicky, buttery, and satisfying. What I got instead was a bowl of plain spaghetti. Not kidding -- actual spaghetti noodles, with no detectable garlic flavor and nothing resembling butter. It was completely bland and left me genuinely confused about what I had just ordered. The one bright spot? Their chili oil is still excellent. It's got great heat and depth, and honestly the only thing saving some bites from being totally flavorless. I really hope the kitchen course-corrects, because this place has potential. But right now, the inconsistency and drop in quality make it hard to recommend.

It was good but I feel like they didn't put a lot of the BBQ pork in there. Nonetheless, it was still good. You pay upfront first, they give you a number and you can pick any table you want. They'll bring the food to you. All of the utenstils and condiments are at your table and water + tea is self served. There's a large parking lot connected to other restaurants here. I like this spot and will come back again as always.
This place was my go-to for a bit in 2021-2022. We haven't really come back since and my partner really wanted to grab something before we went grocery shopping. I ordered the chicken noodle soup combo with different meats. The bowl came with a few slivers of hainan chicken, 3 thin cuts of bbq pork, 2 fish balls cut in half, 1 meatball cut in 4ths and 2 shrimps. I have to say, from what they were before, the food quality and quantity has really downgraded. The meats tasted like old meats they put together for the bowl and it was very minimal. The meatball cut in 4ths also tasted like it was nearly expired... I don't think I will be back again. My partner ordered fried chicken with garlic noodles and that was decent. They had ample black tea and hot water but no cold water! That was a bit disappointing as well.
Nice Vietnamese restaurant that serves something a little different! The Chiu Chow Noodle Soup had a great flavorful broth, a variety of meat toppings, and you can pick what type of noodles you want in it. If I had to nitpick I'd complain that I wish the portions were a little bigger! Their watermelon juice was also sweet and fresh, perfect for a sunny day. Service was great and fast as well, didn't have to wait long and tons of seating.
As good as before! I keep ordering #1 by mistake, which includes more items. If you just want chicken, order #2, especially feeling under the weather.

We were in the area and, after a quick Yelp search, stopped here for lunch. I ordered the Haianese shredded chicken rice that is served with soup and some veggies. Must say, the portions were pretty decent. The soup was tasty, and the ginger green onion and soy vinegar (?) sauces added to the flavor of the chicken and rice. Hubs ordered the garlic popcorn chicken garlic noodles - chicken was moist. We also ordered the salt and pepper wings. We had to send them back as they were a bit undercooked, so they brought us a new batch. They were good wings - hot, crispy and tasty.
Service was always very quick and accurate. Food was delicious as always. We come here once in a while. The beef noodle soup was quite good. The salt and pepper chicken garlic noodles was always a favorite. Hanoi Chicken Rice was on point. The chicken wings were quite delicious. Ambiance is casual, you pick your own table and seat. Pay up front first when ordering. Parking is outside and usually plentiful, except on the weekends when people are going to the grocery store.
Lemongrass pork chop with rice: Lemongrass flavor isn't too strong which I like and the pieces are pretty big. The order is basically two meals worth. Hainanese Chicken with rice: Standard shredded chicken, nothing too crazy. The highlight is the ginger-scallion sauce on the side for dipping (I could use another tray of it, it's that good) Each order came with a bowl of chicken broth and a side of veggies. The broth was so soothing, savory, and rich. Not sure if this is the same broth used with their noodle dishes but it's delicious. As for the veggies, I wish they gave a bit more than 4 stalks. Overall pretty good. I prefer their noodle soups more but can't go wrong with the pork chops.

It was good noodles but not what I had in mind when I read garlic noodles. Food comes out fast and it was consistent the both times I was here. Parking lot can get busy depending on timing.

Their menu specifies the following: "All noodle soup is regular size with green onions, red onions, fried shallots and cilantro." I ordered my shredded chicken noodle soup with no red onions and cilantro..... the end product was just shredded noodles, chicken, and soup. -facepalm- noodles tasted undercooked imo, chicken had more breast than thighs but the soup was decent. I will admit at least their breast aren't dry. I asked for fish sauce on the side along with sriracha so I can "save" it. I just don't taste the fattiness and richness from a chicken broth. My partner enjoyed his bowl but he also killed a third of their jalapeño jar so there's that.

Decided to stop by for lunch at 1pm on a Monday with my parents before going grocery shopping next door. Didn't realize that I had to order at the register first before taking a seat and they bring the order to you. I was excited to try their special chicken and chiu chow with ho fun. Flavor of the soup was decent but a bit watered down for both. I liked the bounciness of the ho fun and all the ingredients. The ginger/scallion was a great for dipping the chicken. Glad I was able to stop by to check out this restaurant. Great place to stop by for a quick lunch, especially if you don't need any type service since this place is mostly self-serve. read more
The food here is always delicious. Their chicken is like the Hainan style where it's steamed or gently boiled, not entirely sure how they cook it, and you dip it on the ginger spring onion sauce. If you like Hainan chicken then you would like it too. Aside from this their garlic noodles with popcorn chicken is good too. Fried chicken wings are great. Many people seem to order this. I've ate here enough times to say that it's such a decent spot. Average price per order is like $17 which is absolutely fine considering the portion size. There are sides at each table and you will always find a spot open. The cook time is really fas, probably around 5 minutes at most and they have a variety of drinks that you could choose from. Vietnamese iced coffee aka liquid crack if you need that extra boost or a nice sugar cane drink for a refresher on a hot day. I would like to see their lemon grass recipe for their pork chop get applied to a bbq chicken cut. But I can't complain overall. The takeout is self serve, so you don't need to ask any of the staff for help, but I'm sure they would help if you asked. And if you don't want Vietnamese food, there are a lot of options in the area too. The inside is your typical busy restaurant full of chatter. read more

My co-workers and I love going here for our lunch break! They are very quick and efficient. Very casual setting. Lots of tables, but it can get busy during lunch time on a weekend. It is in a shopping center so there is ample of parking. The food is delicious! I really love the fried chicken wings. Nice and crispy outside and juicy inside. We tend to get this as a table appetizer often. I got a number 4 with egg noodles. I love the wontons. My friend got number 1 with egg noodles, he likes those toppings. and my other friend got number 4 with wide noodles. Everyone was very satisfied with the food. Portion sizing is always nice here. Pricing definitely has gone up the past few years, but i think that is with everywhere. Viet coffee was so tasty! I could not stop drinking it. read more
One of my favorite places for a hot bowl of soup. Food is definitely tasty. The broth is flavorful but the amount of ingredients could have more things, as the pictures made it look like there's plenty of food. There are a lot of options, from rice to congee to noodle soup. I like how there are multiple options for drinks, even sugar cane juice! The service was attentive and quick, and there is a self service water station. You order at the cashier and then sit down to wait for your food. Ambiance - very home-like, casual eatery where you want to have a nice meal that's close to no frills. read more

this is place is so good!!!! walking in, there's plenty of space and seating. I ordered the shredded chicken and rice and it came with their signature sauce. The staff were really welcoming and friendly! They also have fresh watermelon juice which was so refreshing. Overall would go back to have this meal again. I remember coming here before renovations. This time around, it wasn't as good as I remember, but still ate most of it. You order at the front and seat yourself + Get your own water and tea. Hanoi Special Chicken Noodle Soup: 3.5/5, got glass noodles for personal preference. The soup itself was decent, but the chicken was dry, which is the focus of this order. Wasn't sure if it was fresh or frozen. Noodles were good and chewy. When we were there, most of the other tables hadn't been cleaned up yet so there were just lots of bowls. The space itself was pretty big and decorated though. Would come back to order something else to try. read more
OMG...freaking love this place to death. I am a hardcore chicken soup girl. When I'm at a pho place I always look for chicken pho and when I'm at a ramen place I always look for chicken ramen. The fact that I stumbled upon this place that literally specializes in chicken noodle soup...I cried. The food here? AMAZING. Portions are HUGE (mind you we got the regular size). The price point is great. The soup is clean and comforting. I got the #1 w/ the clear noodles. My bf got the #3 with vermicelli rice noodles. Both of them were 10/10-so comforting. They also came with a side of ginger scallion oil sauce to dip your chicken in. The sauce was on point. We also go the salt and pepper wings. It came with 12 pieces--that's a shit ton. The chicken was FRESH, JUICY, and PIPING HOT. We didn't tackle these until after we killed a good portion of our noodles and they were STILL so hot. When we bit into it, the juice was literally dripping out *cries*. I also highly recommend eating it with an extra sprinkle of pepper! The service here is super efficient. You order first at the counter and then grab a seat. Your food comes out in like 5 minutes. Ambiance is great too. The store is super spacious with plenty of seating. It was also quite clean! Let me start with..I ordered takeout! Food Review; -[Vietnamese iced coffee] Strong, sweet, creamy goodness! A must try for newbies! -[HK style iced milk tea] I love my HK milk teas! This one is good, maybe put more tea taste, less ice. Other than that, loved it! -[Popcorn Chicken w/ Garlic Noodles] I loved this one! Usually when you get popcorn chicken, you'd taste the regular basil popcorn chicken from alot of places. This one on the other hand, had a unique batter. Flavor was different from the regular popcorn chicken, and it had some good spices in there! And don't let me forget the chewy flavorful garlic noodles that came with it! I'd order this again! -[Lemongrass Pork Chop with Hanoi Rice] I loved the flavor on the rice. The Pork Chop had a great flavor profile, but it was a bit on the tough/chewy side. I would love to give this one another try. I haven't gone to San Chong market in ages, this plaza is a hidden gem in San Leandro. And the plaza switched up for the better. It looked nice when I went yesterday, and there were more stores around, including Sheng Kee Bakery! Wow! Alright, the restaurant review; I love the ambiance! Nice, dimmed lights, music playing. The customer service was exceptional (I know its my first time here, but keep doing great service like how you did mine). I will most definitely be coming back! When I think of comfort food, chicken noodle soup often comes to mind. The hanoi chicken noodle soup (item #1) hit the spot. The soup was decently good with flavor. The egg noodle was very thin and hard, probably not made fresh. The fried chicken wings and popcorn chicken was fried really well and is a must have with every order. I'll be getting the chicken rice plate The service ok. I think the servers and cashiers could get more tip if they did full service. The place was clean and the tables were very large, great for large parties. read more
When you enter you immediately order, then select your own table. Once seated it is all self service(which I don't mind) from the tea, to water & take home containers. While I have visited several times, the consistency & flavor doesn't leave me disappointed. Here are my go to dishes: Hanoi Shredded Chicken $15.99-moist shredded pieces of chicken with a garlic/ginger/scallion dipping sauce that always increases my appetite. The rice is also moist & fluffy. Gai Lan is always fresh & boiled to a perfect tenderness. Grilled Lemongrass Chicken in Clay Pot $16.49 for 50 cents more you get a perfectly crispy charred rice cracker from this clay pot. The lemongrass chicken lives up to its name with a fragrant lemongrass aroma. The chicken can be a tad bit salty, but add a crispy piece of clay pot rice & you have the perfect mixture of flavor which each bite. Garlic Noodle Popcorn Chicken $14.99 nicely breaded chicken pieces & a mildly sweet sauce that isn't overly sweet & spicy. Whenever I visit it creates such a source of home cooked feeling for me, so I'll be visiting frequently. read more

Located in a strip mall with a Chinese supermarket, a Cantonese restaurant that also serves dim sum, a Thai restaurant, an Asian Bakery, a Japanese poki shop, a donut shop, a liquor store,...wow, that's enough to survive on during a zombie apocalypse! Also plenty of parking but don't leave your valuables in the car. Get your own water and tea at the self serve drink station. Utensils and napkins at the table. We ordered popcorn chicken, Hainanese Chicken Rice, and Lemongrass Pork Chop with Garlic Noodles. Popcorn chicken was average, and not as good as Quickly's popcorn chicken, the Haianese Chicken was deboned and was accompanied by a very flavorful chicken rice. The pork chop was moist and flavorful however the garlic noodles did not taste anything like garlic. Overall, good for a quick meal. read more

For $15.99 this bowl of noodles was satisfying and delicious. The bowl was packed with protein and the noodles hit the spot. I love that they give you ginger scallion oil on the side. Felt like the perfect amount of food too. Stopped by after getting my groceries next door and got my food within 10 minutes of ordering. You have to order at the front and get a number and self serve water and tea, but everything seemed pretty efficient and quick. Tables were large for big parties if that's your vibe, and the restaurant is pretty spacious. read more

Came here for lunch. Not many people here during weekdays. This is a walk up to the counter and order your food and seat yourself where it's available. Food came within 5-10 minutes. We got Wonton soup. I opt out of the noodles. Came with 10 pieces of wonton. Ground pork and shrimp. Very flavorful and delicious. Chiew Chow Ho fun came with ground pork, fish cake, shrimp, fish balls, beef balls, and shredded chicken. Very flavorful and delicious. Fish cake is kind of a disappointment. Expect the chewy texture but it was not but overall still tasted okay with the side pickled cabbages. read more

Not sure if they were ever closed, but I visited today (3/27/2022) and they were open! :)
Do they put msg on their food?
I have asked them point blank. The answer was "chicken powder". Chicken powder is chicken essence. One of the biggest mfr is Knorr. Chicken powder do contain MSG. But not directly MSG. That's why people don't alway get thirsty after consuming.
