Beef stew with bread (banh mi bị kho)
My D.

Ample parking and tables available. Service is quick. Food: - Beef Stew (3/5): more of a broth than a stew, did not hit the spot. - Shrimp rolls (5/5): can't go wrong - Pho Dat Biet (4/5): comforting, but not the best I ever had

Tofu vermicelli bowl

It was our first time here and upon sitting down at our table, we noticed that there were a lot of regulars so we knew this was going to be a good place. It was nice to see that the host was also taking good care and regularly checking up on people. Now come to the food, we got the tofu pho, tofu vermicelli bowl, and tofu banh mi, all of which were excellent. Now the tofu pho is not vegetarian because they use chicken soup and I'm not sure if the fish sauce for the vermicelli bowl was vegetarian either. But everything tasted incredible and fresh. If it wasnt so far to us, we would have become regulars too!!

It was my first time trying their garlic noodles with Korean-style short ribs (galbi), and it was delicious. The noodles were thick and chewy with a rich, garlicky, buttery flavor. The short ribs were excellent. They were perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. I was initially worried that the galbi flavor might clash with the garlic noodles, but they paired surprisingly well. Everything was super yummy. The ambiance was pretty standard, though the restaurant itself was super cold inside (in the winter). On the plus side, the service was good and quick.

The handsome young man with the nice haircut is always SO FUNNY! When he takes our order he says, "Annnnd," after everything we choose and then he says how soon until quitting time. The broth is always so fresh and flavorful, the meat is juicy and tender and the noodles are perfect. The best peanut sauce in the East Bay, too! I'm coming back!

Probably wont go back since we don't live in that area. Very mid food. Ok to meh service. Pretty small shop, inside tables and floor were sticky. Menu has a-lot going on. We got a Pho, Seafood soup, Egg rolls and Shrimp spring roll. The broth wasn't warm. Little to no protein in both soup noodle. Flavors were bland. The part that got us was how the man who worked there, just ignored us from the time we walked in. Bad vibes if you know what I mean. Private lot in front though

Bread to chicken ratio is way off. Sandwich had lil to no mayonnaise. So it was quite dry! Bread was crunchy and good.

Ordered the Vietnamese sandwich. The bread was of good quality. The only problem was there was too much bread to chicken ratio. Lil to no mayonnaise only added to the dryness of the sandwich. The flavor was lacking and there are inconsistencies in the cut of the vegetables. I recently had an excellent bahn mi on the other side of town so this was a huge disappointment. Another thing...I checked the reviews and online the sandwiches were marked $3/less. So I was surprised when he gave me the total for the bill. I don't think I'll be back. I'd rather drive to the other side of town and be happy/satisfied.

Great family ran spot that has a hearty bun rieu! There's plenty of seats on the outside and inside. Owner is really friendly and service is quick. Spring rolls were very fresh and the crunch made it even better. The bun rieu is probably one of the most flavorful ones I've had and you can really taste the crab which i appreciated. Would come back to try the other dishes!

There's a small parking lot, which is convenient. The staff was very friendly with quick service. The inside is small, but the owner is very welcoming and creates a warm atmosphere. It looks like they get a lot of rgualrs and takeout orders here. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue and was disappointed that it came out lukewarm, which made it less enjoyable. Other than the temperature issue, everything was tasty. The broth had good flavor without being too spicy, and the portion size was solid. Overall, friendly service and good flavors, but I wish the soup had been served hot.

===TL;DR=== - Spicy beef noodle soup w/ no greens - Vermicelli ===TMI=== Seems to be a neighborhood favorite as a lot of families were there when I went. Good spot for a quick fix. I notice a lot of folks also ordered takeout. Not the best BBH I've had but I'm curious to try their pho next time. They have good hot sauces tho!

Amazing taste of food here. The bbh was flavorful and a huge portion of it as well. Service was quick. We had the wings served first and the rest was great. The thai tea here was the best i had. I had to order another one to go!! This is one of the spot if you are ever in san leandro

Beef pho
Juicke C.

Recently I had take out via Grubhub from this place. My order was fresh spring rolls with shrimps, shrimp and calamari salad, and beef rib pho. The food was amazing. The spring roll was fresh. I particularly enjoyed the shrimp and calamari (squid) salad, I found it unique with tangy and sweet sauce. Whereas the pho came with the short rib with bone. The broth was fresh and light. Overall, the food was amazing with the unique flavoring.

Vietnamese coffee
Nancy W.

The food is so good! I normally don't drink Vietnamese coffee, but this place has the best Vietnamese coffee. I only get their coffee! Also, their Bun Rieu is to die for! It's like all the ingredients are homemade (freshly made). The owner cracks me up. He is super sweet and funny. This is definitely our family's go to place.

Fried Fish Cake ( Cha Ca Chien ) (4 stars)

Compared to the Tri-Valley, I think San Leandro has a larger and better selection of Vietnamese restaurants. We frequented Saigon House for lunch twice and both times the food was excellent. Service is quick and efficient, and there's plenty of seating inside and outside. Another plus is that they have two clean unisex bathrooms in the back next to the kitchen. I recommend: * Garlic noodles with grilled chicken - Sounds simple but this is true comfort food. Thin, chewy round noodles with tons of ginger-garlic-scallion flavors and some seriously juicy chicken meat. *Grilled pork over rice - The texture of the pork seems ground to me, so its more like a pork satay as compared to say, pork loin. If you want a chewier texture, get the pork chop instead. The flavor of the pork are a good balance of gingery and salty, and the soft texture makes the dish toddler friendly too. *I like how you can mix and match side items to add some more protein: grilled chicken, grilled pork, pork chop, Kalbi, or in our case, some crispy fish cakes with that sweet-sour dipping sauce. * For Pho, my wife liked #19 which has all the beefy items while leaving out the tripe and tendon. Plenty of parking in the shared parking lot. They also have a solid takeout business and can crank up large party trays of stuff for catering.

Ask the Community - Saigon House

What comes on the banh mi, does it just have meat and veggies?

Pretty much. A little meat with veggies and sliced jalapeños on a bun. Unfortunately, I haven't tried the Saigon banh mi yet, so it could vary from what I'm used to.

I love all places that have a theme that sets them apart from other establishments. Especially ones that have names for their menu items that are jovial. There's ample seating and the place is fun inside, with comic books on the walls, toys displayed and bright colors everywhere it really gives a burst of dopamine when you come in. We were greeted initially by the gentleman at the counter. He was super friendly and asked if we had any questions. Idk bout yall but when we go somewhere and the person refers to you as "boss" you can kinda feel the vibe that you're gonna get good service. And it was exactly spot on. The dude helped us with questions we had and after ordering let us know he'd bring our food to us. We waited a couple mins and our food came out! Initially my first thought was "damn, they're not stingy with their portions here!" We opted for the Goku fries and a regular Deadpool sandwich. It being our first time we wanted to try different flavors. BRUH, that food smacked SO HARD! We slammed everything and kept saying, wow this is good. The ingredients were fresh, the green sauce (whatever it is) was delicious on our sandwich! We will for sure be back & tell all of our friends about this place!

We tried the Ed Edd and Eddy and the Mr. Burns. Both were really good on Dutch crunch. We also customized our sandwiches by adding pickles, banana peppers and onions. I believe the sandwich comes with the standard lettuce and tomato. Easy place to grab a solid sandwich in my opinion. Can't go wrong with any of them. We'll be back to try their fries and other sandwiches.

We arrived a few minutes before their opening time of 10:00am. We stepped in after they opened their doors. A server told us to sit anywhere. Menus were presented first followed a minute later by some iced lemon tea. I ordered the Beef Rib Pho, and she ordered the Special Pho which has Rare Beef Brisket, Flank, Tendon, Tripe and Beef Meatballs. With Pho, before we add anything to the base bowl, we stir up the broth and try it first. Mine was good but gave a hint of salt. Hers had a richer beefier flavor. I was wondering if that was because of the Rare Beef. My Beef Rib was accompanied by a saucer with a pair of scissors to cut up the Beef. It was so tender and flavorful. On the side plate was the usual array of Basil, Bean Sprouts, Jalapeno Peppers and Lemon Wedge. Service was efficient. We'll be back to try other flavors.
