Found this gem within walking distance of work and it's officially my new go-to lunch spot. Started with the shrimp rolls -- whole pieces of shrimp wrapped in a perfectly crunchy wonton shell. So good. I also had the filet mignon pho, and the broth was incredibly rich and full of flavor. The galbi short ribs were super tender and packed with flavor. The chicken bahn mi was large, and packed with fresh veggies. We Washed it all down with a Thai iced tea. The space is huge with tons of natural light, super clean, and the service was quick and friendly. Perfect spot for lunch! read more

Come here twice a month or so for many years. They just changed management a few years back. The Good: 1. The food is good, although not as good as other Vietnamese restaurants. 2. The waiter/waitresses are kind, getting better and aims to make sure you get the right ( or to your likings) order. Not soo good: 1. The food menu is limiting. I heard they are expanding the menu, but as of writing, still haven't expanded. 2. Inconsistent Service: sometimes, they forget the cutting knife, or the sauce is missing, little things like that. But overall, your average Vietnamese food, not authentic either. Need to expand their menu items. read more

This is a long overdue review for our visit at the end of December 2024. My husband and I found this spot on Yelp while trying to look for Vietnamese restaurants we haven't gotten a chance to try in the San Leandro area. Parking: shared lot with limited spots. We came on a Sunday evening and the lot had a few spots left. Ambiance: typical Vietnamese mom and pop restaurant. Nothing fancy and barely any decor. They do have a few TVs showing current sports at the time. I would not bring a date here. Service: besides my husband and I, there was another table so service was pretty quick. We got our food shortly after we ordered. Food: 3/5. I ordered the seafood pho and we shared an order of banh xeo (not many Viet restaurants in the San Leandro area make this, typically you can find it in the San Jose area only). Just ordinary food, it didn't taste bad but nothing memorable. If you are willing to drive to SJ, I would recommend getting banh xeo there instead. Came in for on a Monday about noon, place was pretty empty with only 2 tables with customers. Once I sat, they bought me water and menu right away. Shrimp Spring with added Grilled Pork was good and the peanut sauce had good flavor went great with the chili oil they had on the table. House Combo Pho with Rare Filet Mignon, Franks, Fatty Brisket, Tendon & Meatballs was pretty tasty after I added the Hoisin Sauce & Chili Oil. The broth was just average but still good. The funny thing is, I needed to grab food to go, so I didn't get their pho, since that doesn't travel well, so this review will have a follow up for their pho. They have a tiny parking lot shared with other businesses around but there's additional parking on the other side if you need. They were super quick with my order and friendly. Mom and pop owned. On a hot day in the 80s however, there was no one in the store eating pho so it was real quiet inside. I needed something I could take home and eat quick, so I got their banh mi, fresh spring rolls, and shrimp fried rice. Spring roll: was 2 large rolls for $9. You can argue that it's 4 if you cut it in half. The peanut sauce was too watery for my taste. Banh mi thit Bo (Vietnamese beef sandwich): the beef is the same grilled beef you would get in a com tam (broken rice) plate. The bread wasn't crispy but it wasn't stale either. The crazy thing and the deciding factor of me not coming back for banh mi, there was NO DAIKONS in my sandwich. That's just not right. There was cucumbers, there was cilantro, but nothing else, 1/10. Shrimp fried rice: was average. They definitely had that crispy wok flavor that I like but that was about it. There was 5 pretty big shrimps in there but that was about all I can brag about, nothing special. I'll come back to try their pho and maybe their banh xeo (Vietnamese savory crepe) based on a recommendation. So far their other items are average and their banh mi with no daikons was not it. read more

After being in the Bay area for three years, my husband and I stumbled upon a a very delicious Vietnamese restaurant that reminds me so much of a local place we frequent back home in SoCal. After finishing a day of looking for a proper suit, my husband I planned to return back to SF, but both our stomachs started to grumble. After looking up spots in San Leandro, we saw this while driving and decided to stop by based on the reviews that their broth was as the kids say "fire & chef's kiss"! We were greeted by the new owners who were very friendly and made us feel at home. I love the vibe of this place. It is low key and has a very family/community feel. We were seated near the window which was great because it was a very nice day and the restaurant is across an elementary school and pre-school, so you know family/community vibes all around. We ordered the Bún Bò Huế (Spicy Beef w/ Thick Rice noodle soup) & the Bánh Xèo Thường (Crispy Rice Crepe). O-M-G. The BROTH. The reviews were correct in that the broth is to die for. It is not oily and has the right amount of spice and flavor. The beef and sausage (has peppercorn embedded, yum!) in the Bún Bò Huế was tender & the noodles were chewy, which I loved. The Bánh Xèo Thườn was crispy and the filling of shrimp & pork was plentiful! At the end of our meal, the owner gave us some dessert which again reminded me of a dessert my mother-in-law has made in the past. It was cooling, light, and tasty. Absolutely fantastic pho and warm hospitality! I stopped by A1 Pho and had one of the best meals I've had in a while. I ordered the Number 1 Pho (their house special, I assume), and it did not disappoint. The broth was rich, aromatic, and packed with incredible flavor , perfectly balanced and so comforting. I even took a video of it because it looked (and tasted) that good! My son and wife got the bun thịt nướng chả giò (grilled pork and egg rolls over vermicelli), along with some spring rolls and French fries on the side. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and he devoured it all. The spring rolls were crispy and delicious, and the fries were a nice touch for the little one. Plum soda was so good reminded me of the time I had it in Saigon back in 2017. What really stood out was the service. The owners and wait staff were incredibly nice and welcoming , it felt like family. The whole vibe was warm and genuine, which made the amazing food even better. First off: great customer service. Staffs are polite and friendly. Family like atmosphere in restaurant. A few long bench for large group. We went for seafood noodles and lemongrass chicken. Lemongrass chicken I was expected grilled but it came stir fried. A little disappointed but it tasted good. The seafood egg noodles was good according to mom. I have eaten at a lot of Pho places around this area (pho Saigon, pho auntie 7, Le solei, joes pho, pho an hoa) and I would say this place leaves you feeling good afterwards. It's not too salty so expect a little bit of a bland flavor but the good thing is that they have this sauce that looks like lemongrass and chili pepper. The place is clean and spacious! This was near my dentist's office so we decided to stop by . Easy to locate since it's at a corner and had huge parking lot on both sides . Lots of seats and tables to choose from and was greeted with a smile from I guess the new owners. Orders were promptly taken and had suggestions given as well. Food came out pretty fast. Get the wonton noodle with egg noodle, the dumpling had a thick beefy chew, which is rewarding with the soft dumpling skin. The pho is decent, but a little too much anise, which blocks the beef flavor. The fried wings were a little too much oily crisco batter and no crunch. The rare beef was still frozen although the soup did cooked it through it was edible. The grilled pork banh mi was ok, the pork was marinated well but needed more pickled veggies and more meat. Maybe it's my fault for coming to a place that has Pho in its name and ordering a rice plate and a vermicelli bowl, but everything was subpar. Ordered the combo rice plate that comes with a "chicken wing"...just got a drumette piece. Plate also came with 1) grilled pork which was under marinated, 2) fried egg which was way over cooked, 3) egg roll which was just ok and 4) pickled radish and carrot which was hardly even pickled. Even the nouc cham sauce that comes with was bad. It was like it made with water and no fish sauce...just sweet. Hella weird. The vermicelli bowl had the same items except instead of wings, it had a pair of shrimps that were basically boiled. There was a .75 cent surcharge for to go and both dishes came out to be $40. At $20 a dish, I'm definitely expecting a bit better quality and/or portion from a Vietnamese spot. I know a spot with comparable prices up the road and they always hit the spot. read more

I don't like writing poor reviews for mom's and pop's, but there's not much to say about the banh mi. The bread was totally average - no chew, no skin, no texture. This place is fine for pho. For me, rare steak pho is very hard to mess up--the only issue is typically very oily broth. There was no oily broth here, just nothing really memorable to write home about. It was tasty and a good meal on a cold night. The place is pretty nondescript in terms of decor. This place is solid. It's a chill spot with picnic benches inside and a couple of TVs playing. It's a relaxed atmosphere and the people really want you to have a good time and enjoy the food.
