Absolutely fantastic pho and warm hospitality! I stopped by A1 Pho and had one of the best meals I've had in a while. I ordered the Number 1 Pho (their house special, I assume), and it did not disappoint. The broth was rich, aromatic, and packed with incredible flavor , perfectly balanced and so comforting. I even took a video of it because it looked (and tasted) that good! My son and wife got the bun thịt nướng chả giò (grilled pork and egg rolls over vermicelli), along with some spring rolls and French fries on the side. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and he devoured it all. The spring rolls were crispy and delicious, and the fries were a nice touch for the little one. Plum soda was so good reminded me of the time I had it in Saigon back in 2017. What really stood out was the service. The owners and wait staff were incredibly nice and welcoming , it felt like family. The whole vibe was warm and genuine, which made the amazing food even better. If you're in the area craving authentic Vietnamese food with great flavors and even better people, definitely check out A1 Pho. We'll be back soon! read more

Took my younger brother out for lunch today to try somewhere new. We rolled up at 12:30 PM and the place was a ghost town... cue the foodie panic! But we decided to just run it and see why it had 4 stars. My brother got the Special Pho. Intially, it checked out--smelled amazing, good layer of oil on top. But the taste? A different story. The spices completely hijacked the broth, wiping out any of that rich, natural beef flavor. It was definitely lacking seasoning. I lucked out with the Vegetarian Egg Roll Vermicelli. Huge portion, great aroma, and the egg rolls (stuffed with taro, mushrooms, and black fungus) were super crispy and delicious. Way better seasoned than the soup! The Verdict: It's a solid "middle of the pack" spot. The owner is super nice, service is standard, and bonus: parking is a breeze. That said, a pho spot lives and dies by its broth. If they level up the soup base, they'll definitely pull in a bigger crowd. read more

Amazing Spot have been coming here for years! Very Friendly Service and has everything you can ask for of a Pho Place. Food is very tasty! Also in a very convenient area with a good amount of space and very well maintained! read more

Found this gem within walking distance of work and it's officially my new go-to lunch spot. Started with the shrimp rolls -- whole pieces of shrimp wrapped in a perfectly crunchy wonton shell. So good. I also had the filet mignon pho, and the broth was incredibly rich and full of flavor. The galbi short ribs were super tender and packed with flavor. The chicken bahn mi was large, and packed with fresh veggies. We Washed it all down with a Thai iced tea. The space is huge with tons of natural light, super clean, and the service was quick and friendly. Perfect spot for lunch! read more

Literally the worst food and service. Noodles in our soup all broken. Odd assortment of vegetables in my pho -- when I only asked for book choy. Who outs cabbage in pho? And we paid for "filet" -- it was not filet. The best part was the server just dropping bowls on the table and expected us to serve it to the correct person. Spring rolls were sticky and soggy. The rolls were loosely rolled as well which made it hard to eat. The "cha Gio" was more of a Chinese egg roll. Everything was bad. I'm so shushed and annoyed. Say, I ordered takeout with our meal and when j tried to cancel -- it was conveniently already made. Yet I sat her for 20 minutes for her to bring it out. Avoid the coconut water as well,... they said it was fresh. It was not. The pulp is artificial. read more

Beware! The photo on V2 was wrong on 9/20/26! I wanted the fresh imperial style spring rolls which is actually V1. I had no idea the photo was wrong! When I called to complain that I got deep fried egg rolls, they did not offer to make it right. In my opinion when the website screws something up, you offer to replace the mistaken item with the correct item. But instead I got blamed for the mistake. I'll be looking for a more accommodating and technically correct restaurant. Too bad because I've been going to this spot for decades. Their loss! . read more

This is a long overdue review for our visit at the end of December 2024. My husband and I found this spot on Yelp while trying to look for Vietnamese restaurants we haven't gotten a chance to try in the San Leandro area. Parking: shared lot with limited spots. We came on a Sunday evening and the lot had a few spots left. Ambiance: typical Vietnamese mom and pop restaurant. Nothing fancy and barely any decor. They do have a few TVs showing current sports at the time. I would not bring a date here. Service: besides my husband and I, there was another table so service was pretty quick. We got our food shortly after we ordered. Food: 3/5. I ordered the seafood pho and we shared an order of banh xeo (not many Viet restaurants in the San Leandro area make this, typically you can find it in the San Jose area only). Just ordinary food, it didn't taste bad but nothing memorable. If you are willing to drive to SJ, I would recommend getting banh xeo there instead. Cost: $ this is an affordable spot with good portion size. Will I return? Likely not. read more

Came in for on a Monday about noon, place was pretty empty with only 2 tables with customers. Once I sat, they bought me water and menu right away. Shrimp Spring with added Grilled Pork was good and the peanut sauce had good flavor went great with the chili oil they had on the table. House Combo Pho with Rare Filet Mignon, Franks, Fatty Brisket, Tendon & Meatballs was pretty tasty after I added the Hoisin Sauce & Chili Oil. The broth was just average but still good. I would come back!!! read more

Great friendly service. A solid place to get your pho cravings satisfied. However, I recommend getting the Banh Xeo/crepe. It's always come out crispy! They don't skimp on the meat or fillings and always give you large portions of veggies and sauce. read more

The funny thing is, I needed to grab food to go, so I didn't get their pho, since that doesn't travel well, so this review will have a follow up for their pho. They have a tiny parking lot shared with other businesses around but there's additional parking on the other side if you need. They were super quick with my order and friendly. Mom and pop owned. On a hot day in the 80s however, there was no one in the store eating pho so it was real quiet inside. I needed something I could take home and eat quick, so I got their banh mi, fresh spring rolls, and shrimp fried rice. Spring roll: was 2 large rolls for $9. You can argue that it's 4 if you cut it in half. The peanut sauce was too watery for my taste. Banh mi thit Bo (Vietnamese beef sandwich): the beef is the same grilled beef you would get in a com tam (broken rice) plate. The bread wasn't crispy but it wasn't stale either. The crazy thing and the deciding factor of me not coming back for banh mi, there was NO DAIKONS in my sandwich. That's just not right. There was cucumbers, there was cilantro, but nothing else, 1/10. Shrimp fried rice: was average. They definitely had that crispy wok flavor that I like but that was about it. There was 5 pretty big shrimps in there but that was about all I can brag about, nothing special. I'll come back to try their pho and maybe their banh xeo (Vietnamese savory crepe) based on a recommendation. So far their other items are average and their banh mi with no daikons was not it. read more

Bun bo hue is a little bland, they overload it with cha instead of giving enough beef. The noodles were also overcooked and mushy. Other items seem like they may be good so I'll come back maybe to try other things. read more

Come here twice a month or so for many years. They just changed management a few years back. The Good: 1. The food is good, although not as good as other Vietnamese restaurants. 2. The waiter/waitresses are kind, getting better and aims to make sure you get the right ( or to your likings) order. Not soo good: 1. The food menu is limiting. I heard they are expanding the menu, but as of writing, still haven't expanded. 2. Inconsistent Service: sometimes, they forget the cutting knife, or the sauce is missing, little things like that. But overall, your average Vietnamese food, not authentic either. Need to expand their menu items. read more

Food for the soul. After being in the Bay area for three years, my husband and I stumbled upon a a very delicious Vietnamese restaurant that reminds me so much of a local place we frequent back home in SoCal. After finishing a day of looking for a proper suit, my husband I planned to return back to SF, but both our stomachs started to grumble. After looking up spots in San Leandro, we saw this while driving and decided to stop by based on the reviews that their broth was as the kids say "fire & chef's kiss"! We were greeted by the new owners who were very friendly and made us feel at home. I love the vibe of this place. It is low key and has a very family/community feel. We were seated near the window which was great because it was a very nice day and the restaurant is across an elementary school and pre-school, so you know family/community vibes all around. We ordered the Bún Bò Huế (Spicy Beef w/ Thick Rice noodle soup) & the Bánh Xèo Thường (Crispy Rice Crepe). O-M-G. The BROTH. The reviews were correct in that the broth is to die for. It is not oily and has the right amount of spice and flavor. The beef and sausage (has peppercorn embedded, yum!) in the Bún Bò Huế was tender & the noodles were chewy, which I loved. The Bánh Xèo Thườn was crispy and the filling of shrimp & pork was plentiful! At the end of our meal, the owner gave us some dessert which again reminded me of a dessert my mother-in-law has made in the past. It was cooling, light, and tasty. My husband enjoyed the meal & starred the restaurant on his list. I am so glad we stumbled upon A1 Pho, it definitely made me feel as if I was home with family and the food was amazing! read more

A1Pho opened quietly where Pho La Sen was. Tables same. Menu has slight changes-no mixed drinks. The horse mural went to greener pastures.. decor same.. Offerings: Bun, fried rice/noodles, sides, drinks, appetizers, pho, kid's menu, Banh Mi, rice plates. Special items... Eats: Banh Xeo (15.99) "Crispy Rice Crepe" w/pork, shrimp..looks like a omelette. Made with rice flour. -soft drink on house. Passed. Offered hot tea. Ok by me. Never got it. -crepe filling mostly uncooked bean sprouts, 2 tiny pieces of pork and 2 half pieces shrimp were bland/flavorful. Looked boiled. -accompanied by plate with romaine lettuce, cilantro, etc. -dipping sauce way too sweet. Got "original" version later when i told a person checking in that sauce was too sweet. 3.5 stars disappointed in quality of ingredients, not quantity. *service not "organized". Noticed unfinished bowl of pho at nearby table not cleared when i was there. Only 2-3 other tables occupied. read more

This was near my dentist's office so we decided to stop by . Easy to locate since it's at a corner and had huge parking lot on both sides . Lots of seats and tables to choose from and was greeted with a smile from I guess the new owners. Orders were promptly taken and had suggestions given as well. Food came out pretty fast. We even got a free plate bc it was sent to us by accident and it was smackin fried shrimp. parties were raving about the egg rolls, fried shrimp and fried cake appetizers. Pho bro try was homemade tasting and beef stew was fire . Thai tea and real fruit smoothies were a great touch . Definitely would stop by this spot when in the area read more

First off: great customer service. Staffs are polite and friendly. Family like atmosphere in restaurant. A few long bench for large group. We went for seafood noodles and lemongrass chicken. Lemongrass chicken I was expected grilled but it came stir fried. A little disappointed but it tasted good. The seafood egg noodles was good according to mom. It was not extremely salty like other pho we went to. The most favor dish is crispy crepes. Overall, first experience is very good. Here are pics for your eye curiousity; however you will have to stop by for your taste bud read more

Get the wonton noodle with egg noodle, the dumpling had a thick beefy chew, which is rewarding with the soft dumpling skin. The pho is decent, but a little too much anise, which blocks the beef flavor. The fried wings were a little too much oily crisco batter and no crunch. The lemonade was perfectly a compliment to spices. Worth the trip away from popular favorites like Joe's pho, because there is only the family here, no abused immigrants. read more

I have eaten at a lot of Pho places around this area (pho Saigon, pho auntie 7, Le solei, joes pho, pho an hoa) and I would say this place leaves you feeling good afterwards. It's not too salty so expect a little bit of a bland flavor but the good thing is that they have this sauce that looks like lemongrass and chili pepper. The place is clean and spacious! They offer lots of meat in their pho! They make bomb avocado shake! Really nice mom and pop shop! And the service is attentive! read more

Came here because I'm having serious Pho Auntie 7 withdrawal symptoms. Had not been here before, but wanted to try it since it opened. Was excited that they had bun bo hue under their specialty section, but when it came, I could immediately tell that it wouldn't be good. We also ordered the regular, and to be honest that was better but with all pho, the broth is key, and for both they were pretty blah. Hurry back Pho Auntie 7!!! read more

That pho broth was pho'ing!! Funny that a few tears back when I was a pho newbie, I came to this location. It were owned by someone else. At that time, I could honestly say that the pho was whack !! So whack I would never come back. Well hella years later, I'm in the neighborhood and saw that this place was no longer owned by the pho-less people. Baby!!! I hadn't had a broth so freaking good like this in a while. Thank you self for coming in read more

Love that they are open early at 10am. Free parking in a shared lot. Ordered the combination pho and grilled pork banh mi. The pho was ok the soup base had a very strong star anise to it. The rare beef was still frozen although the soup did cooked it through it was edible. The grilled pork banh mi was ok, the pork was marinated well but needed more pickled veggies and more meat. Think I was anticipating a denser sandwich. Overall, great customer service and no frills of a place. read more

Maybe it's my fault for coming to a place that has Pho in its name and ordering a rice plate and a vermicelli bowl, but everything was subpar. Ordered the combo rice plate that comes with a "chicken wing"...just got a drumette piece. Plate also came with 1) grilled pork which was under marinated, 2) fried egg which was way over cooked, 3) egg roll which was just ok and 4) pickled radish and carrot which was hardly even pickled. Even the nouc cham sauce that comes with was bad. It was like it made with water and no fish sauce...just sweet. Hella weird. The vermicelli bowl had the same items except instead of wings, it had a pair of shrimps that were basically boiled. There was a .75 cent surcharge for to go and both dishes came out to be $40. At $20 a dish, I'm definitely expecting a bit better quality and/or portion from a Vietnamese spot. I know a spot with comparable prices up the road and they always hit the spot. read more

This place is fine for pho. For me, rare steak pho is very hard to mess up--the only issue is typically very oily broth. There was no oily broth here, just nothing really memorable to write home about. It was tasty and a good meal on a cold night. The place is pretty nondescript in terms of decor. It's also freezing inside when it's cold out, as I believe the door is kept open so it's always pretty windy. Suggest layering up. Either way, fine place for pho. read more
