I noticed this restaurant a couple of days ago and filed it in the back of my head. Yesterday, we wanted some early lunch and decided to give them a try. We arrived a few minutes before their opening time of 10:00am. We stepped in after they opened their doors. A server told us to sit anywhere. Menus were presented first followed a minute later by some iced lemon tea. I ordered the Beef Rib Pho, and she ordered the Special Pho which has Rare Beef Brisket, Flank, Tendon, Tripe and Beef Meatballs. With Pho, before we add anything to the base bowl, we stir up the broth and try it first. Mine was good but gave a hint of salt. Hers had a richer beefier flavor. I was wondering if that was because of the Rare Beef. My Beef Rib was accompanied by a saucer with a pair of scissors to cut up the Beef. It was so tender and flavorful. On the side plate was the usual array of Basil, Bean Sprouts, Jalapeno Peppers and Lemon Wedge. Service was efficient. We'll be back to try other flavors. read more

Stopped by for first time. Mgr Minh stopped by to see how I liked the food. He stated they have been open nine months. bún bà huế was delicious. I was excited when this place opened cuz I wanted to try the banh mi sandwiches. Finally made it and ordered the lemon grass beef banh mi and and order of chicken wings. Customer service was ok. The wings were pretty good, but I've had better. I love lemon grass dishes so was excited when the sandwich came and I began to eat. It walls decent but then I started to get a funky taste coming through when I got a bite with the cucumber. Upon inspection it appeared the cucumber was on its way out. Saw this place after getting nails done and looked real clean from outside. Went in and was greeted sat down and the place looked as clean as it did from outside. Food was great. Everything was filling. The pho had so much meat and noodles in there it never ended. Couldn't even finish it cuz it was so much food. The spicy beef was a delight. I made sure to destroy that. Came here for dinner one night over the weekend. The restaurant had plenty of seating and there was no wait for table or food. There was lively Vietnamese music playing in the backgrounds. The restaurant had a wide variety of pho, bahn mi, rice plates, sizzling plates, Vietnamese coffee, and matcha drinks on its menu. We tried the pho - the soup was really good, and the bahn mi bo kho - the soup was also really good as well and went well with the baguette. As soon as I entered I noticed the really pretty decor in front and all around the place and was in awe of the florals/murals!! The broth of both pho's were really good as well I wish I was hungrier to finish it because the portions were great. I had such a great experience here! The staff were super friendly and accommodating. We originally planned to dine in but had to switch to takeout last minute, and they made the change so easy. I came here during their grand soft opening. I was very optimistic about a new pho place and new possible rival to Joe's across the street. It was their first day, so I definitely gave them some grace. They didn't mention about the grand opening special that was going on, they forgot my drink orders, they gave me the wrong drink and had to remake it, they were missing essential silverware, etc. Growing pains, I get it, and I won't fault them for that especially for their very first day. Service you can fix, but food. Food quality I can't let slide. The vermicelli noodles were very clumpy. The grilled meat (not sure what animal it was) was just under room temperature. I should have complained, but I waited about 40 mins for it and was very hungry. The broken rice combo was a fail. You can see in the photo I posted that the egg meatloaf was undercooked. Like very undercooked, I think they forgot my order and rushed it out. The pork chop was thin, hard, and not flavorful. Honestly, the only thing I liked was the passion fruit smoothie. That was only thing that that tasted solid. As of right now, I'm staying away from Saigon Yum. But I might come back in 6 months and hopefully find their food to be of higher quality. I saw the ad for Saigon Yum's grand opening on Facebook and waited about a week to give them time to settle in before trying it out. I came in around 12:30 for lunch and the restaurant was pretty empty aside from what looked like friends of the owner. One of the servers I recognized from Pho Seven down the street, where I usually go for bun bo hue. I originally wanted to try the bun rieu but was told it was not available yet, which confused me since they open at 10am. I took a few minutes to decide and ended up ordering the bun bo hue. The veggie plate that came out first only had bean sprouts, jalapeño, Vietnamese coriander, and a lemon. No mint or any other herbs, which the server confirmed they do not carry. When the soup arrived, the broth immediately tasted different from what I'm used to. The bbh here really missed the mark. The bowl had a lot of bamboo in it, which I have never seen in this dish before, and all the pork pieces were very fatty and chewy. None of the beef cuts like brisket or shank that you normally expect. The only thing I actually enjoyed were the pork meatballs. I'm Vietnamese and had lots of good bbh when I lived in San Jose. So my expectations are kind of high when it comes to Vietnamese food. For $18 it just was not worth it, especially when Pho Seven makes a much better version for $13. Even Joe's Pho across the street serves a better bowl. On top of that, the iced tea they bring to the table was lukewarm with hardly any ice, which was not refreshing at all. Overall the meal was disappointing. The prices are high for what they are serving and the quality just is not there yet. I do not see myself coming back anytime soon. read more

The pho is flavorful and not too sweet which I find most places to be. The bun rieu is tasty and the meatballs were good. Probably had two other tables near me and mostly pickup orders. They were so extremely kind and attentive whenever I needed something! - food: I absolutely love how they give you a carafe of iced jasmine tea!! It was so tasty and brewed to perfection. - rare beef pho (5/5) their broth is soo good! Perfectly seasoned, hearty, huge portions and love the huge green onions in the broth for flavor. The menu had alot of items that we didn't know what to choose, but ultimately chose the bun bo hue and vietnamese skillet breakfast. When we received the food, it was warm.. borderline almost room temperature. I would understand if it's to-go and the temp drops while in transport, but we were dining in. I would expect the food to come out hot at least. It made the dining experience a little less enjoyable. The flavor of the skillet breakfast was nice, i like the bread alot. I love this place. My family of 6 were looking for a place to eat and I came across this restaurant. Whenever I see the Vietnamese sizzling "breakfast" plate with egg, sausage, pate, filet mignon, and fresh French bread, it is a MUST try! This one had a pork meatball too! Each one came with a delicious salad and OMG they were sooooo good! We also ordered Bun Bo Hue which had good flavor too. They serve an iced tea water but we prefered plain iced water, and asked for that, which was filtered and great. At the end of the meal, they gave us Vietnamese homemade gellatin desserts shaped in little charactors and shapes, super light and refreshing, lightly sweetened. The service was really wonderful and they were so nice and attentive. They even told us not to add tip since gratuity was included for our party of 6, but I always love compensating for amazing food and service so I definitely added to it.
