After the adventure at Business Costco in Hayward, Meesha and I were HANGRY! There isn't a food court. We decided to go to Saigon Yum because we trying to find a place that had Bhan Mi... and since it was just the two of us, we decided to actually dine in. We were seated quickly, so I decided to use the restroom so I can wash my hands (as a sidenote, they're very clean bathrooms.). When I got back to the table and right as I was about to ask Meesha about what the menu looked like, she just said "sit down and take a look for yourself." It was a simple and and smaller than usual menu style. So many great choices, definitely one of those restaurants where you wanna keep coming back so you can try everything. Not only did the pictures look good, but also their menu items and the descriptions we're easy to sort through. Since it was just Meesh and me we decided to go for what we would usually go for when we go to a Vietnamese restaurant if the kids were with us (future planning ). I got the Pho Special with an add on short rib (more like "huge ribe" LoL) with the intent to share. Meesha got he Bhan Mi special, and as always the REAL avocado milk shakes and an iced vietnamese coffee for me (we were at the mid point of our errands run). EVERYTHING WAS GREAT! I do have to mention that their Iced Vietnamese coffee was hands down THEE best out of all the hundreds of restaurants we've been to. Not too watery, bold and strong and just enough milk/cream whatever secret ingredient they use all over the right amount of ice!!! I even personally complimented the lady who made it... that's how good it was. The Pho is everything you would expect and more. The broth was sooooooo good we even brought home the left over. The "Dino" Short Rib was perfect and easily fell off the bone. Just enough noodles to protiens ratio (for the Filipinos who have that rice to ulam ratio preferance). The Bhan Mi was perfect, crunchy outer shell and soft inside. Since we were too anxious to try it all, we forgot to take "Social Media Meal Pics" ‍. Clean, family friendly, spacious, courteous staff, and great food... We are definitely going to add this to our "HAVE TO GO" places nextime we head out that neck of the woods. read more

I ordered the Deluxe Special Banh mi and it's the saddest and driest Banh mi I've ever had. There is barely any meat and the bread is stale. I paid for extra pate and can barely find any. Response to owner after reply: Yes, you're correct that I ordered veggies on the side and my original photo doesn't show that. But that still isn't an excuse for the sparce meat provided and the lack of additional pate that was paid extra for. Instead of getting defensive and arguing that your food was adequate when clearly it wasn't, maybe you should focus on receiving feedback with grace and redirect your efforts to improving your quality. read more

This was my second time eating here. The first time was for a party that my friends had at this location. We came 20 to 30 minutes before closing and the staff was super friendly and that was a surprise. I expected them to be short with us being that it was so close to the end of the night, but that was just the opposite. Food came out quickly, and everything was perfect. The broth was flavorful. Everything in the soup was tasty. The Imperial rolls were really good and the peanut sauce was different than I expected, but I really liked it The waiter came over 2 to 3 times to check on us, and at the end of the meal asked how we like the food and if anything was wrong. The prices are very good. The portions are large and the food is fresh. To go back to the Imperial roles I'm gonna say that they were extremely fresh. The vegetables inside were really crispy which I liked, you can tell they were just made using really fresh ingredients. I was excited when this place opened cuz I wanted to try the banh mi sandwiches. Finally made it and ordered the lemon grass beef banh mi and and order of chicken wings. Customer service was ok. The wings were pretty good, but I've had better. I love lemon grass dishes so was excited when the sandwich came and I began to eat. It walls decent but then I started to get a funky taste coming through when I got a bite with the cucumber. Upon inspection it appeared the cucumber was on its way out. I noticed this restaurant a couple of days ago and filed it in the back of my head. Yesterday, we wanted some early lunch and decided to give them a try. We arrived a few minutes before their opening time of 10:00am. We stepped in after they opened their doors. A server told us to sit anywhere. Menus were presented first followed a minute later by some iced lemon tea. I ordered the Beef Rib Pho, and she ordered the Special Pho which has Rare Beef Brisket, Flank, Tendon, Tripe and Beef Meatballs. With Pho, before we add anything to the base bowl, we stir up the broth and try it first. Mine was good but gave a hint of salt. Hers had a richer beefier flavor. I was wondering if that was because of the Rare Beef. My Beef Rib was accompanied by a saucer with a pair of scissors to cut up the Beef. It was so tender and flavorful. Came here for dinner one night over the weekend. The restaurant had plenty of seating and there was no wait for table or food. There was lively Vietnamese music playing in the backgrounds. The restaurant had a wide variety of pho, bahn mi, rice plates, sizzling plates, Vietnamese coffee, and matcha drinks on its menu. Came here during lunch. The restaurant was clean and has a welcoming atmosphere. We were greeting immediately when we sat down. The menu was not complex and I like it with the colored photos and description of what you are getting. The pricing was moderately comparable to the similar Vietnamese restaurant around (banh mi was cheaper here than other places around). We ordered the house special banh mi and it was very good! The bread and meat ratio was on perfect... not skimpy on the meat, yet not too overpowering. The bread was fresh.. crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside (comparable to Lee's). We also ordered the special house pho, the broth was perfect in my opinion... not too salty or watered down, meat was tender but i think our noodle was a tad overcooked because it was clumped together and broke apart.. none the less it was delicious. We also tried the Bo Ne sizzling platter and that was delicious! Came out pipping hot and sizzling...the steak was tender and juicy (I ate it with a spoon). The meatball was soft, egg cooked over easy and paired well with the gravy/sauce... The sausage is a tad sweet, but if you eat it with the bread it tapers off the sweetness. Overall the portion was perfect for me and the taste satisfied what I was craving for, and I did not have to drive to San Jose for both the Bo Ne and the Banh Mi. I ordered the short rib pho and was looking forward to it because it was advertised as an "18 hour" broth. However it tasted nothing like that...all I tasted was msg and some faint spices. I had such a great experience here! The staff were super friendly and accommodating. We originally planned to dine in but had to switch to takeout last minute, and they made the change so easy. The food came out really fast, too! The space itself is adorable! lots of natural light, cute wall decorations, plenty of plants, and a nice mix of booths and tables. Definitely a place I'd love to come back to for dine-in next time. Food-wise, everything was delicious. I loved that they offer a build-your-own pho perfect for picky pho lovers like me who want specific meats. The broth was light yet flavorful, and they give a generous amount of noodles and meat. We also tried the breakfast skillet with sausage, egg, and a toasted roll. It was so tasty, perfectly seasoned, and not greasy at all. I also ordered a fresh young coconut, and it was the actual coconut! I came here during their grand soft opening. I was very optimistic about a new pho place and new possible rival to Joe's across the street. It was their first day, so I definitely gave them some grace. They didn't mention about the grand opening special that was going on, they forgot my drink orders, they gave me the wrong drink and had to remake it, they were missing essential silverware, etc. Growing pains, I get it, and I won't fault them for that especially for their very first day. Service you can fix, but food. Food quality I can't let slide. The vermicelli noodles were very clumpy. The grilled meat (not sure what animal it was) was just under room temperature. I should have complained, but I waited about 40 mins for it and was very hungry. The broken rice combo was a fail. You can see in the photo I posted that the egg meatloaf was undercooked. Like very undercooked, I think they forgot my order and rushed it out. The pork chop was thin, hard, and not flavorful. Honestly, the only thing I liked was the passion fruit smoothie. That was only thing that that tasted solid. As of right now, I'm staying away from Saigon Yum. But I might come back in 6 months and hopefully find their food to be of higher quality. I saw the ad for Saigon Yum's grand opening on Facebook and waited about a week to give them time to settle in before trying it out. I came in around 12:30 for lunch and the restaurant was pretty empty aside from what looked like friends of the owner. One of the servers I recognized from Pho Seven down the street, where I usually go for bun bo hue. I originally wanted to try the bun rieu but was told it was not available yet, which confused me since they open at 10am. I took a few minutes to decide and ended up ordering the bun bo hue. The veggie plate that came out first only had bean sprouts, jalapeño, Vietnamese coriander, and a lemon. No mint or any other herbs, which the server confirmed they do not carry. When the soup arrived, the broth immediately tasted different from what I'm used to. The bbh here really missed the mark. The bowl had a lot of bamboo in it, which I have never seen in this dish before, and all the pork pieces were very fatty and chewy. None of the beef cuts like brisket or shank that you normally expect. The only thing I actually enjoyed were the pork meatballs. I'm Vietnamese and had lots of good bbh when I lived in San Jose. So my expectations are kind of high when it comes to Vietnamese food. For $18 it just was not worth it, especially when Pho Seven makes a much better version for $13. Even Joe's Pho across the street serves a better bowl. On top of that, the iced tea they bring to the table was lukewarm with hardly any ice, which was not refreshing at all. Overall the meal was disappointing. The prices are high for what they are serving and the quality just is not there yet. I do not see myself coming back anytime soon. read more

First the ambiance, nice, cozy, and clean. We ordered the beef rib pho and their special pho (combination essentially) as well as a coconut matcha. The pho broth was very flavorful but not overly salty, generous portions, just overall a really good bowl of pho. The matcha was also very yummy. I went in after the lunch rush to get a couple Bahn mi, two of the specials and a smoothie. I was the only customer, at the time, so it should have been quick. It looked like the "secondary" team was making the food and drink because it took 10-15 minutes to get my order. The broth of both pho's were really good as well I wish I was hungrier to finish it because the portions were great.
