This new Hong Kong Cafe is amazingly good. This is my 5th time here and each time the food is on point for a Chai Chaan Tang. The location is also great and plenty of parking. I ordered the regular: Cold Lemon Tea, Cold Milk tea, Dr Chow Beer Noodle, Butter Pine Apple Bun, Peanut Butter French Toast, Fried Calamari, Fat Char Siu, all so good. This place reminds me of Hong Kong. Coming again soon.

We're not usually in the San Leandro area, but our friend knew about this Hong Kong style cafe (Cha Chan Teng). It seems they have a bunch of locations in Asia too. Spacious, clean restaurant with good service. *** OUR PICKS *** STIR FRIED CAULIFLOWER WITH CURED MEATS ~ cauliflower still crisp and delicious mixed with cut up cured sausages and pork belly. Flavorful and prepared on point. 5/5 HAINAN CHICKEN RICE ~ tender and tasty chicken, but the rice was plain and not seasoned with ginger and scallions or chicken broth. I prefer it seasoned but the sauce was on the side and I guess you can put the ginger scallion sauce on the rice yourself. The sauce was less salty than most restaurants. And it also came with bok choy and peanuts. 4/5 BAKED PORK CHOP WITH RICE ~ this was our friend's ginormous dish. He enjoyed the pork chop and sweet tomato sauce. There was a good amount of cheese too! 5/5 BAKED PORK CHOP WITH SPAGHETTI ~ pretty much the same as the one with rice. The taste was spot on and a solid choice if you like HK style baked cheesy pork chops. I tried some of this and it was good. 5/5 HONG KONG STYLE FRENCH TOAST ~ A bit sweet but you can always ask for the sweetened condensed milk on the side. This was doused so it was definitely a dessert, even though it was given before our lunch entrees. It was delicious, just sweeter than I would like. The side of the toast was crispy too. 4.5/5 I'd like to try other items on the menu, so I would definitely come back the next time we're in this area. Every dish was a hit!

    Stir-fried beef ho fun

Came back for another meal on Saturday and while I'm upping my rating slightly overall, there are still some pros and cons. Pros: - Maybe a week or two after my first review, they started upgrading the interior and added cute new cane back chairs and stools, cute signs and posters, and got plates, bowls, and cups to match the signs they put up. They also added some new plant life. - The mapo tofu and Mongolian beef are delicious. The latter in particular was one of the best examples of this dish I've ever had, and I've ordered a lot of Mongolian beef in my life from a lot of different restaurants. Unlike most places, this wasn't mostly onions with a stingy amount of beef; it was the opposite, and the flavors were so, so good. I loved that they included bell pepper. And that smokiness from the beef in the ho fun was present in this dish. The mapo had a generous portion of ground pork throughout and plenty of numbing spice. - Great potstickers here. The wrapper was thick (not too thick), had a good chew, and was filled with juicy pork. Six to an order. Cons: - Service is a mixed bag. The waitress who greeted us was miserable and all but threw our menus at us when we sat at the table she gruffly pointed to, barking "HERE" as she slid them roughly to us. One of the rudest greetings I've ever encountered anywhere. But the woman who brought us our food and helped us the rest of the meal was a sweetheart and very kind. - The same issue persists with the wait staff dropping off your food and then never coming back around to check on you. Flagging someone down also continues to be a hassle. - The Hong Kong condensed milk toast was a huge disappointment, mostly because it tasted strongly of oil -- specifically, old oil -- more than anything else. It was the first thing I tasted in my first bite and all I could focus on for the few more bites I took before leaving it unfinished. The peanut butter filling was delicious and so was the condensed milk on top, but whatever was going on with the oil situation completely ruined this for me. This second visit was much stronger than the first overall, particularly where the food was concerned. But the service will likely never be very good here (if it wasn't ever at Le Soleil and still isn't here a couple months after opening, I have no hope for any improvement), and getting served an oil bomb dressed up as condensed milk toast just wasn't acceptable. But going in with tempered expectations for service and avoiding the toast are all easy things to do on our next visit.

I was looking for a place for a late night dinner (9:15pm) and found Wonderful Cafe. A small metered parking lot on the side and metered street parking. The interior is like a Chinatown decor and style. Two kiosks to order (takeout only?) from. Two separate single user men & women's restrooms. The service was friendly and patient. They spoke Cantonese and English mostly, but the owner spoke Mandarin. He realized we did not speak Mandarin so he spoke in English. He was very friendly and during the slow times, he went to visit with each customer's table and checked on how everything was. Steamed Pork Patty with Salted Fish Steamed Rice - served plain with blanched broccoli over steamed rice. Add your own soy sauce if needed. Beef Chow Fun (dry fried) - flavorful with whole stands of rice noodles and tender beef. Sweet & Sour Pork - a good crispy fry on the pork pieces and a tasty and authentic sauce. (I forgot to take a pic and we ate half and all the bell peppers before I realized I didn't take a pic) HK Milk Tea - a slightly different taste but still good. They have been in business for only a short time ~ 4+ months. We shall be back. Support your local business.

The beef brisket was tender and flavorful. The stir fry beef ho fun was not too oily. Popcorn chicken was crunchy and paired well the side of sweet and sour sauce. There was no wait for a Saturday afternoon.

    Pineapple Bun with Butter

Such a solid spot for comfort food, with nice and friendly service that makes the experience even better. The spam and egg fried rice hits just right, light and not overly salty, the Mongolian beef has a subtle kick and comes over crispy rice for great texture, and the pineapple bun with butter is warm and delicious. Definitely one of the better Hong Kong cafes in the area. I'll be back!

    Wonton Noodles with Beef Brisket
    Rick C.

The Ovaltine lava toast alone is worth the trip Found my new favorite Guangdong-style cafe. Ordered three things and couldn't stop smiling. Beef brisket wonton noodle soup - Brisket so tender it melts, wontons bursting with juicy shrimp and pork, and that deep, comforting broth. Noodles had perfect chew. Pineapple bun with butter - Warm, crispy crumb topping, cold salted butter slab inside. Sweet, salty, buttery perfection. No notes. Lava milk custard French toast - This is the showstopper. The outside is generously coated in Ovaltine powder (that malty, chocolatey touch is genius). Cut into it and warm, silky milk custard oozes out like lava. Crispy, creamy, nostalgic, addictive. Never had anything quite like it. Everything was generous portions, under $17 each. Lemon tea is legit too - strong and refreshing. Fast service, cozy vibe. Can't wait to go back and try their satay beef noodles. Highly recommend!

    Hainan Chicken Rice
    Nghi T.

I honestly feel like I got scammed! I was craving hainan chicken and wanted to try out a new restaurant. Ordered the hainan chicken rice. The chicken did not have any hainan taste to it. All it had was a bright yellow skin, looking like they just added food coloring to give the appearance of hainanese chicken. Very disappointed with the rice since I thought I would get hainanese flavored rice. They just gave me white jasmine rice that was hard as if it was left to sit out on the counter for hours. Overall this restaurant is a one and done for me. It seemed like they just boiled the chicken and gave me rice, both of which I can easily do at home. They should rename the dish to steamed chicken with rice.

Food is good but it takes a long time for it to be ready The pineapple bun is made in house so it takes even longer. You get it hot right from the oven with the crispy sweet tops. Noodles is fire with the aromatic of the wok. Season well The garlicky pork ribs make your mouth watery Service is slow and a bit disorganized.

Found this place after searching for "cha chan teng" on Google Maps! We got there at around 5:45pm on a Friday night and the place was not packed at all. We were seated quickly and given menus to review. We scanned the QR code to order but they also swung by to ask if we wanted to order with them. The menu was so extensive, we had a hard time limiting ourselves! We ended up with a clay pot rice (made it half chicken half chinese sausage for $2-$3 more) a baked pork chop over spaghetti, a simmered soup, veggies, and half a hainan chicken. Goodness they were all amazing. My family kept complimenting each dish after every bite. This might be our new favorite spot. Their clay pot was PERFECTLY crispy rice, even my aunt who doesn't eat crispy rice kept asking for more. We'll have to come back to try their small bites and snacks!

Went on a Saturday which I believe was the grand opening day. It was packed around 12:30, but luckily we got a seat by the window. Service was a bit slow but understandable as they work out the kinks. Tried the beef chow fun, eel and pork patty clay pot rice, pineapple bun, hot yuenyang milk tea and iced HK milk tea. The chow fun was too salty and didn't have enough wok hei but was pretty oily. The claypot rice didn't crisp on the bottom at all which was disappointing. They have two types of eel but it didn't have a description on the difference .. the more expensive one is the saucy eel you'll find at Japanese restaurants. I believe the other eel is the type with smaller individual eels which is what I wanted. It would've been nice if it was clarified on the menu. The drinks were just ok and a bit too sweet. They forgot to give me my iced HK milk tea, and they comped it for us at the end due to a mix up. The pineapple bun was overhyped as I've seen it mentioned a lot in reviews... it came out warm but wasn't anything special - the bread wasn't fluffy enough and was on the hard side. I'd try this place again but with lower expectations. They have a big menu so there's a lot to explore. Hopefully they improve on the quality and service.

Red Bean Ice with Ice Cream
    Brian T.

We wanted some dessert so it was nice to see a new hong kong shop open in the area. Decided to try out their dessert. There was a bit of language barrier as most of them only spoke cantonese. Red bean ice w/ ice cream (3.7/5): The dish was nice and refreshing. The ice cream does add a nice touch to the dish. Some draw back was that the ice wasn't fine and it was still in the whole cube, making it hard to eat the bean. Also, since the ice was big, the ice cream was stuck on the ice and was hard to mix in. I would definitely come back to try the savory dishes in the future.

I originally came to Fusion Delight because of the purple interior…read more Seriously. The giant lotus chandeliers, the deep violet lighting, the old-school banquet hall atmosphere - it immediately reminded me of the large Cantonese restaurants that used to define family dining in the Bay Area years ago. But after eating here during a packed weekend dinner service, I realized the real attraction is not the decor. It is the operational consistency. The dining room was completely full, with a long line of people still waiting outside. Under that kind of pressure, many large Chinese restaurants start losing control somewhere: fried dishes soften, stir-fries lose wok hei, food arrives unevenly, service becomes rushed. Fusion Delight somehow keeps the system together. And what impressed me even more was that the staff never became impatient. Even with the restaurant running at full capacity, the servers stayed friendly, patient, and organized. No chaos, no attitude - just steady service under pressure. That is not easy in a restaurant this size. The Mongolian beef was the first thing that stood out. Instead of thin slices hidden under sauce, the beef here is cut unusually thick and long - some pieces nearly two inches. Thick-cut beef is risky because once overcooked it immediately turns tough, but here the meat stayed tender while still carrying proper wok sear and caramelization. That tells me the kitchen understands heat control and timing. The crispy pork intestines were even more impressive. These were clearly braised first, then fried before the final stir-fry. The outside kept its gelatin-rich texture while the inside still carried fat and aroma, but without the unpleasant odor that ruins this dish at weaker restaurants. Even people who normally avoid intestine dishes could probably eat this version comfortably. That level of cleaning and pre-processing matters. The braised lamb with skin was another old-school banquet dish done correctly. The lamb was soft without collapsing, while the skin still retained structure. More importantly, the prep work was meticulous -- no gamey smell, no rough trimming, no shortcuts. The sea cucumber and pork tendon dish also showed strong banquet-kitchen fundamentals. The pork tendon had clearly been oil-expanded beforehand, giving it that proper soft and elastic texture instead of rubbery chewiness. The sea cucumber still retained bite and structure. The Singapore-style rice noodles and scallop egg white fried rice were textbook Cantonese banquet staples. The rice noodles stayed dry and separated while still carrying wok aroma and oil fragrance. The scallop egg white fried rice looked simple, but every grain remained distinct and lightly coated without clumping together. That level of consistency under volume is difficult. Even the red bean dessert soup at the end was handled carefully. The red beans still held their shape instead of dissolving into paste, while the sago remained fully intact and translucent. Most restaurants stop caring once dessert leaves the kitchen. Fusion Delight clearly does not. And honestly, that may be the best way to describe this restaurant overall. Fusion Delight is not trying to be trendy. It is not trying to become minimalist fine dining. It is not trying to be social-media bait. This is a high-volume Chinese banquet restaurant operating with old-school Cantonese production discipline. Hot food arrives hot. Fried dishes stay crisp. Wok hei survives peak hours. Plating still looks intentional during a packed dinner service. That kind of consistency is harder than people think. And somehow, inside a giant purple dining room filled wall-to-wall with families, they make it work. - Dr. C Purple room approved. Wok heat calibrated. Banquet discipline detected. Consistency at scale = correct.

Visited here with my friends on a Wednesday morning…read more The restaurant opens at 10:30 AM, and we arrived a bit early--there were already a few customers waiting outside. However, within about an hour, the restaurant was almost full. Even though it wasn't the weekend, it was still very busy. This is one of my favorite dim sum spots because the food is consistently delicious, especially the siu mai--it's a must-try! The service is fast and friendly, which makes the experience even better. There is also plenty of parking, which is a big plus. The restaurant is spacious, with beautiful purple lighting that really catches the eye. The high ceiling also makes the space feel very open and comfortable. Although this place doesn't have the highest ratings on Yelp, it's definitely still very popular and worth visiting.

We got seated pretty fast and were handed menus right away. The waitress also brought us cups and water. The menu looked amazing. We ended up ordering the following: 1. Beef stew with crispy noodles - 7/10 we went with the pictured selection instead of rice and I think rice would have been q better option. The dish itself was huge and really good. 2. Their menu inside and their receipts spell their name as one word...Jingege. Why different on this…read morelisting? There's usually a pretty good line right by the register, so this place is pretty well known by the Asian locals. Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup ($16/2*) First outing here I sat for lunch and tried this. Surprisingly disappointing seeing how busy and popular this place is. The wontons were okay, decent flavor with a strong sesame oil presence. But they weren't that plump and luxurious, just seemed like homemade/amateur versions. Which is fine, except given the nicer restaurant feel, I just expected something more elevated. The noodles were fine, super thin egg noodles that had a nice QQ. BUT their broth was so bland and unremarkable that it kinda ruined the whole experience. I couldn't even taste/detect the protein that made up the stock, just tasted like murky liquid to me. And zero condiments on the table, so I just ate the wontons and the plain tasting noodles cuz the broth couldn't offer anything to the noodles. Womp womp. And their bowl of choice is very weird to eat from. Super tall bowl that if you leave a spoon in there it will sink and be submerged for you to fish out...in piping hot liquid. If I would have reviewed this place just on this one visit, then it surely would have been a sub 3* rating. But I knew I couldn't leave my impression with that one lone visit. Roast Duck - Half ($20/4*) Came back for some take-out deli items and I was handsomely rewarded. Total 180 experience from the soup outing. Their ducks here are slightly more expensive than most others for the area. But it is still worth it imo. They cut it with good skill and even for a take-out box they present it nicely, with the shape of duck still somewhat intact. The skin is not crisp at all but it is very well rendered. Some pieces were not that salty at all but some other pieces are well seasoned, which I thought was strange. But overall a very solid roast duck is to be found here. There's also a big scoop of these tiny beans that are slightly sweet almost like baked beans just not as gloopy. But the bean texture is very al dente, almost crunchy, which I found very strange. Macao Roast Pork w/ Rice ($19/4.5*) This is crazy good...I'll even say special. Super seasoned pork belly is roasted til the skin gets crisp...like chicharon status, except it is just a very thin layer of crispness. So the balance between the sturdy crunch and juicy flavorful meat was practically perfect. It is definitely on the salty side, almost the same intenseness as eating Spam with white rice, but white rice offsets those salty components beautifully. And they garnish this massive plate with perfectly blanched gai lan (Chinese Broccoli) and some other pickled greens that add a nice sweet and tangy component. So between the decadent pork, white rice and diverse greens offerings just made this a complete one stop shop that could make a regular out of me. There's also a Share Tea next door so I've got a harmonious tandem going on here. Lucky Ducky Me yassss!

It was so nice to eat locally and have a good meal with great parking. They are in the Safeway shopping center and share a lot with them. The place is clean and bright, very inviting. Most of the party arrived before us so we were able to easily find our table. We were set next to the fish take, by the kitchen. It was a good arrangement. We had 2 tables with identical entrees. We ordered: Green Beans, Salt and pepper chicken wings, shrimp fried rice (Everyone's least favorite dish), Chow Fun, duck, and probably some other dishes. The green beans were the best dish. The chicken wings were good, but not as flavorful as people hoped, they probably won't be ordered again. The fired rice was a big disappointed, it had shrimp in it, but it lacked flavor. We didn't get a soup. We also had a steamed fish which was really good, coming from a not big fish fan. It was seasoned with soy sauce and was a big hit with the table. Even my picky nephew ate some. We also had calamari, it wasn't a big hit, we didn't even take it home with the leftovers. We all got tea and we asked for ice water for everyone which was drank along with the tea. If you request it they will bring out forks, my brother in law made the request. I was impressed even the kids used chopsticks. I definitely reccomend this restaurant. Especially for large groups. It's set up for banquets. I can't comment on the bathroom, because we didn't use it.

I came here on the weekend around noon with some friends and this place was packed. Surprisingly,…read morethere was no one in line and we were seated right away. I guess this was when it started to get less busy. Within an hour, half the diners were already gone. Service was a little slow. They did not have enough servers working all the tables. Our server barely came back to check in on us. The only thing we needed were extra tea refills. The food on the other hand came out in a timely manner and were steaming hot when they got to our table. We ordered about a dozen dishes and they were all delicious. My favorite dish was the Golden Tofu Cube with Salted Egg. It was a little salty and the inside was soft while the outside was crispy. I also liked the Stir Fried XO Sauce Rice Rolls. It was flavorful, tender and I thought they used the right amount of sauce for my liking. The dining area was quite big. It looked like they had just hosted a party the night before since their speakers equipment were still out. This place did have a parking lot which might look big but it could easily fill up during their busy hours. I was lucky to find an open spot when I got here.

I used to go there years ago and it was really good. Not sure what's happened in the years since…read morebut it is really, really bad. The baked pork buns are good - slightly different in that there's no glaze on them but the outside was crispy and the inside tender and the filling was tasty - they are why I'm giving 2 stars. The honey walnut prawns were inedible - the sauce was hard lumpy globs sitting randomly on top of fried shrimps, truly disgusting. The scallion pancakes were not crispy or flaky - Trader Joe's are better. The tofu rolls were cold on one side, like refrigerator cold, while the other side was lukewarm. The jellyfish salad had no flavor whatsoever, just the very slightest hint of sesame. No salt, nothing. The seaweed salad was decent. The deep fried mochi puffs with meat filling were bad. The outer shell was too thick so the inside was uncooked and doughy. Inedible. And, the cold chicken feet were so tough they were in edible. I didn't know you could make chicken feet like that, so tough. Again not really any flavor, they were just tossed with a little bit of chili sauce and hardly any of that. And no vinegar chili sauce for dipping. I would not recommend.
