    Shrimp rice roll
    Becky V.

If you want the rice rolls then it's available on weekends only till 2pm. There's a variety of them you can choose like beef, bbq pork, shrimp. Whichever meat you choose, the meat isn't rolled INTO the rice roll (which would be traditionally what you expect from dim sum restaurants). Instead it is placed on top and all around the roll. Comes with sauce all over it. See pics. Busier on weekends; No wait plenty of seats in weekdays. Although quite greasy, My favorite dishes were: Beef chow fun Salted fish eggplant There's a collab with Yomi yogurt so you can order from the waiter for your drink dessert to be delivered to your table. Durian flavor was subtle, just a nice little hint, not super flavor forward. Mainly taste the yogurt flavor more. Service efficient and quick.

I really try to support Asian businesses in the San Leandro area and am so happy to say there is a lot more variety these days. We were in a time crunch and downtown San Leandro was slammed on a Sunday afternoon! Full House Cafe was able to accommodate our semi large group quickly. The menu has plenty of comforting hk cafe classics including desserts and yumi purple rice drinks. We ordered a variety of noodles and some steamed rice room since it is only available on weekends. I had high hopes but unfortunately, everything was very greasy and lacked flavor. The stir fried beef noodles was generous on... bean sprouts and not as much so with the beef. Sadly, everything dish that came out was the same, super bland and super greasy. I had to use a lot of chili sauce to give the food some life. A couple people got their rice drink and said the flavor was very subtle. They also didn't get purple rice in their drinks so be specific when you order. Service was ok, but cannot fault them as they were very busy.

Reasonable priced but the food is a bit oily to my tasting. It can be a bit busy during weekend.

Honestly, I don't know why there are so many bad reviews. I personally liked the meals I had. Pictured: pork ribs and Chinese sausage and bacon clay pot rice. Not pictured: chicken and salted fish fried rice. I heard their clay pot rice was their specialty and I was definitely craving for it. While there were some crunchy pieces, it still satisfied my cravings. As for the pork ribs, packed with flavor but needed to be a bit more tender. The other claypot rice was perfect. Their chicken and salted fish fried rice was also a great choice. Usually, fried rice is pretty oily but this isn't that oily and was still flavorful.

We hadn't been in this space since Daimo first opened here so many years ago. Parking is always a bit of a challenge. Never park in the Bank of America parking lot next door. We parked in the small parking lot behind the restaurant. I hope that's still okay. One hour limit. The restaurant is bright inside. Plenty of seating We were directed to a two-top that was adjacent to a four-top. Most of the tables were rectangles and could easily be pushed together although it wouldn't be convenient for typical Chinese round table dining. Menus were presented and we were left alone for a few minutes to look at them. They had pretty pictures of some food items but certainly not all of them. Most everything sounded good and it would be fun to bring a crew in and tear up the menu. That's the one bad thing about not having round tables, you can't set up a lazy susan and just spin at will. Everything has to be passed back and forth which, of course, slows down the eating process! We decided to keep it simple for the second day in a row. She ordered: Curry Fish with Steamed Rice - 3 - The fish was very fresh and gently cooked as opposed to cooked to death. There were lots of Green Bell Peppers and Yellow Onions as well as some Carrots balanced with a reasonable quantity of fish. There was enough curry sauce to go with the steamed rice which was good. On the down-side, the curry was somewhat bland and the fish was as well. Had the fish been flash fried to give it some carmelization, that would have added texture as well. I ordered: Assorted Seafood Chow Ho Fun (dry) - 4 - There were 3 small shrimp, 3 pieces of calamari and 4 pieces of fish served with my fun. There was an abundance of bean sprouts, some yellow onions and a reasonable quantity of green onions. The fun was pretty fresh, not super greasy and not broken up. It also had a noticeable degree of wok hay which was nice to find. The fish was very good but while the calamari was still crunchy, it and the shrimp were completely bland. I'm guessing that they were cooked separately and then added in. A small amount of dark soy and white pepper could have fixed that and elevated the dish to a 5-star. we both drank Ice Water and were happy to actually see ice in the disposable cups. There appeared to be one server taking care of the dining room although another woman occasionally came out to serve diners. We would not return just to reorder the same two dishes that we had but we may come back to try other menu items such as Sliced Pork Pan Fried Udon, Chinese Sausage & Preserved Pork Clay Pot Rice, Three kinds of Balls Noodle Soup, and Lotus Leaf Steamed Rice with Ribs.

Sizzling fish, beef chow fun, seafood tofu clay pot and shredded chicken salad. They are all good!

Service is attentive. No wait on New Year day for lunch. Food is super tasty and big portion. Highly recommend for dining in the area. The sizzling fish is excellent, and must try.

Things started out a bit rocky when Full House first opened, but they seem to have smoothed out now. I haven't actually sampled any of the staple HK café (aka cha chaan teng) baked offerings, but have had a decent variety of the family style dishes. I must say they are not bad at all! Even though the main competitor, Leisure Café, directly across the street always seems much busier, if I personally had to choose one or the other, I just might pick Full House! Unfortunately, to the dismay of the owners (and to the benefit of patrons), Full House never usually lives up to its namesake, at least the times I have passed by. It is rarely ever crowded, and perhaps location has a lot to do with it. I remember the old Daimo never being particularly packed either. Whereas Leisure is directly connected to the autopark and large plaza, one must cross the street to reach Full House. Even though this is obviously not that great of a distance to traverse, if does create a psychological barrier. Whether this will affect the future welfare of the business is yet to be determined. The interior is quite refreshing, and covers the five C's - casual, cute, charming, cozy, and comfortable - which is quite a rare combination indeed. The aged wooden tables are wide and spread out, and the matching seating is spacious. Service is on the higher end of the spectrum for Chinese restaurants, which isn't saying a whole lot, but it likely won't irritate you. Items come out of the kitchen rapidly, but unfortunately, servers don't seem to check up on things or refill tea very often. As for the food, during my last visit, our group of three adults ordered Salty Fish and Chicken with Eggplant Clay Pot, Shrimp with Scrambled Egg, Bittermelon with Beef, and Mushroom Chicken with Rice Clay Pot. All of this was ravenously devoured with no complaints whatsoever. The total damage amounted to around $50 out the door. While this is certainly more expensive than somewhere like Good Neighbour, it is still quite reasonable for the quality. Portions are decent, but not huge, and they do not skimp on the meat. Overall, I'm glad Full House has been able to right the wrongs from the rather lackluster opening, and has quickly ascended the ranks to become a viable option for cha chaan teng fans in the central East Bay. Of course as patrons, we love that the name of the establishment is currently a misnomer, but in order to ensure that subsequent visits will be possible, hopefully word will get out soon.

Baked pork chop rice. Comes with a drink for $8.50 lunch special.

Super cheap and filling lunch specials! This is probably my new go to spot when I want to save money, but don't feel like cooking. I believe the lunch special runs through 6pm every day, even weekends! Linner special I guess? It comes with a free drink and a dish. I got the HK milk tea and the black pepper beef with rice. The portion isn't huge, but that's probably a good thing so I don't overeat. It was very flavorful though. You can't beat $8 for this meal. Service was decent. The food came out in like 5 minutes from when we ordered. They have a pretty extensive full menu, as most HK cafes do. Not sure I'll ever get around to trying it though, as the Asian in me won't be able to pass up that linner special! There's no parking lot, so we had to street parking, which wasn't too hard to find.

There's usually a pretty good line right by the register, so this place is pretty well known by the Asian locals. Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup ($16/2*) First outing here I sat for lunch and tried this. Surprisingly disappointing seeing how busy and popular this place is. The wontons were okay, decent flavor with a strong sesame oil presence. But they weren't that plump and luxurious, just seemed like homemade/amateur versions. Which is fine, except given the nicer restaurant feel, I just expected something more elevated. The noodles were fine, super thin egg noodles that had a nice QQ. BUT their broth was so bland and unremarkable that it kinda ruined the whole experience. I couldn't even taste/detect the protein that made up the stock, just tasted like murky liquid to me. And zero condiments on the table, so I just ate the wontons and the plain tasting noodles cuz the broth couldn't offer anything to the noodles. Womp womp. And their bowl of choice is very weird to eat from. Super tall bowl that if you leave a spoon in there it will sink and be submerged for you to fish out...in piping hot liquid. If I would have reviewed this place just on this one visit, then it surely would have been a sub 3* rating. But I knew I couldn't leave my impression with that one lone visit. Roast Duck - Half ($20/4*) Came back for some take-out deli items and I was handsomely rewarded. Total 180 experience from the soup outing. Their ducks here are slightly more expensive than most others for the area. But it is still worth it imo. They cut it with good skill and even for a take-out box they present it nicely, with the shape of duck still somewhat intact. The skin is not crisp at all but it is very well rendered. Some pieces were not that salty at all but some other pieces are well seasoned, which I thought was strange. But overall a very solid roast duck is to be found here. There's also a big scoop of these tiny beans that are slightly sweet almost like baked beans just not as gloopy. But the bean texture is very al dente, almost crunchy, which I found very strange. Macao Roast Pork w/ Rice ($19/4.5*) This is crazy good...I'll even say special. Super seasoned pork belly is roasted til the skin gets crisp...like chicharon status, except it is just a very thin layer of crispness. So the balance between the sturdy crunch and juicy flavorful meat was practically perfect. It is definitely on the salty side, almost the same intenseness as eating Spam with white rice, but white rice offsets those salty components beautifully. And they garnish this massive plate with perfectly blanched gai lan (Chinese Broccoli) and some other pickled greens that add a nice sweet and tangy component. So between the decadent pork, white rice and diverse greens offerings just made this a complete one stop shop that could make a regular out of me. There's also a Share Tea next door so I've got a harmonious tandem going on here. Lucky Ducky Me yassss!

But you can always count on their quality.

My group and I stopped by recently for morning dim sum, and we were incredibly impressed by the changes. The Atmosphere & Vibes The modern, newly remodeled interior looks fantastic. The space feels much brighter, cleaner, and more upscale than before, making it a wonderful environment for everything from a casual family breakfast to a larger celebratory gathering. They've managed to create a contemporary look while keeping the welcoming energy alive. The Food: A Noticeable Step Up While the new decor is great, the real star of the show is the improved flavor and quality of the dim sum. You can tell they've refined their recipes and perhaps brought in some fresh culinary talent. Here were the standouts from our meal: Baked BBQ Pork Buns (Cha Siu Bao): Absolute perfection. The tops had that ideal, sweet, crumbly crust, and the pork filling was savory, rich, and not overly gelatinous. Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gow): A true test of any dim sum kitchen. The skins were perfectly translucent and delicate without tearing, packed with plump, snappy shrimp that tasted incredibly fresh. Siu Mai: Flavorful, juicy, and well-seasoned. The texture was spot-on--not dense or heavy. Egg Tarts (Dan Tat): The puff pastry was beautifully laminated and flaky, holding a perfectly smooth, warm, and subtly sweet egg custard. Service & Value Despite the upgraded ambiance and food quality, the service remains efficient and attentive. Teas were kept hot and refilled promptly, and the dishes arrived fresh and steaming from the kitchen.
