Egg white and dried scallop fried rice

Traditional Chinese food served family style in classic set meals or a la carte. This little gem doesn't look like much from the outside but sure does pack a punch of a meal during dinner service fit for even a banquet style party. Dim sum is also offered during brunch if you happen to be looking for a spot but we haven't had a chance to try it yet but from this first experience, it's very likely it'll happen in the near future! Squeezed in a mall hosting a huge, largely vacant parking lot, Pearl Bay Tea House welcomes you in through their tiny doors to dine in their decently sized ballroom spread with medium to large tables available to parties larger than 10. If you're coming with a larger party, you definitely should consider making a reservation. Dimly lit but spacious, you'll find yourself flooded with sounds from patrons at surrounding tables once the peak rush arrives. With their own tanks of live seafood, your meal has got to include something from their catch! You'll have a variety including fish, lobster, shrimp and clams and have a few options of cooking styles to satisfy your craving of the day. We ended up getting a fish cooked two ways, soup and sautéed with vegetables, as well as lobster smothered in garlic sauce. In addition to the seafood, we ordered some vegetarian dishes which were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning and sauces to elevate the natural flavors of the earth-grown ingredients. A popular dish, the roasted quail, was also something we ended up trying and it was exquisite. The meat was tender, seasoned well, and roasted perfectly. Each quarter bird was packed with protein and the thin bones were easy to pick out. All the dishes are meant to be consumed family-style and the big portions will surely feed a table of at least eight. The prices are reasonable and when the tab is split per person, the average cost of the meal given its portions, quality, and variety, make this meal a great value. Not only was the food delicious, the staff were also pretty good with their hospitality and timeliness when the restaurant was a bit more quiet. However, when the rush started to get a bit hectic, there was a significant drop off in service and as you get closer to the end of your meal, it almost felt like they downright ignore your table until you leave so they can turn it around for another customer. For example, one of our party members went to use the restroom just a bit after dessert was served and one of the staff members came up and asked if we were still using their chair, despite seeing the rest of our party still comfortably seated and enjoying the rest of our meal. It was a bit of a surprise. For language immersion, most of the staff speak both Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese so if you're a native speaker or a learner, you'll have plenty of opportunities to connect in the spoken language. The menus are also typed up in Chinese (and English) so you'll have a chance to brush up your word recognition as well. Overall, Pearl Bay Tea House checks all the boxes for a classic Chinese seafood restaurant albeit a bit aged with its furnishings. They could use some remodeling to spruce up the interior and exterior to bring some glamour to match its solid food preparation. You'll find the classic dishes meant to be comfort food as well as some with a bit more flare and freshness. Come in expecting a midrange seafood restaurant and you'll be thoroughly satisfied and I'm sure with a few changes, they can certainly elevate themselves to the ridge of a high end banquet hall!

They are back and stronger than ever with an expanded dining room! You can tell with the parking lot so full.

Yummy dim sum! They had all the classics, as well as a bunch of other different dishes, and everything was good. Dishes came out promptly after ordering in small groups, so we were able to finish up some plates in time to make room for more on our small table. The staff was also attentive and friendly. Would recommend and we'll defo be back!

2nd time visiting and we are already thinking about our third visit. Great variety on their menu with reasonable prices. Just wish they had a smaller version of their porridge but other than that I have no complaints with what they offer.

My family and I have been here for many years, as it has been our go to family style restaurant. This is the place for large groups like families but it is possible to have a small group as well. The food is tasty, nothing to pinpoint. Though, this time we ordered a set meal, the portions are a lot larger. I definitely loved the sea cucumber, mushroom beef, scallops and lobster (some were not pictured cuz we were hungry xD) Service was attentive and prompt. They do not pre-charge a service fee.

Sunday morning and the food here was consistent as ever. We ordered a bit too much but took a box or two home. Marking menus can easily lead to over ordering, but that is not a bad problem. I noticed that Sundays are much busier than Saturdays. Efficient service, reasonable pricing, and good food are the right combination.

Roast Squab

Came here on a random Wednesday for a lunch with family friends. Surprised how popping it was at first bad when the food came out one after the other in a constant timely manner, I can see why it's so popular. The decor is pretty average for these Cantonese banquet style restaurant with the live fish tanks in the back. The seating arrangement can be small if you are larger person. So be ready to be a bit tight with your company elbow to elbow. The food is def the highlight. The lobster chow fun was among the top things my family raved about. I like the squab - flavorful and slight gamy taste to it. The bill came out to be less than $300 with tips for over 10 ppl and there was plenty left for takeout. Def give it a try. Some dishes were a tad bit oily but it's old school.

I've been here a few times. They have ample parking since it's in a plaza with a grocery store next door. It gets pretty busy, but it is pretty big inside. Most of the staff do not speak English very well, but this is to be expected. However, the quality of food and pricing are worth it in my opinion. I absolutely love their Egg Yolk Custard Bun. This is the best i've ever had and it makes my mouth water every time I start thinking about it. This is a MUST TRY. These are the items we ordered: Har Gow (5/5) and Shu Mai (5/5): These were delicious! Can't go wrong with the staples ! Chicken Feet with black bean sauce (4/5): Beef tripe(3/5): I'm not a fan of tripe so i barely ate this dish. My family thought it was okay. This wouldn't be something I ordered again. Salt and Pepper Tofu (4/5: I'm not a huge fan of tofu, but these were pretty good. They were seasoned very well. Home Style Chow Fun (4/5): These were good, very flavorful. I just wish there was more noodle Salted Fish Fried Rice (4/5): This was good, but a bit salty. Hence the name Steamed Rice Noodle with Shrimp (5/5): This is one of my favs. I always love the rice noodles with shrimp, chives or pork inside.

They open early and we dropped by around 8:00am to leave our order for pick-up at 10:15am. I found a copy of their order sheet online. It was slightly out of date but it worked out just fine. I handed it to the order taker and she entered it into the computer. There were two items that they apparently no longer make, Egg Custard Tarts and Pork with Peanut Dumplings (Chiu Chow). She rang me up, I paid and she told me to be sure to bring in the itemized receipt to show that I had already paid. Fast forward to 10:20 and I received a phone call to let me know that my order was ready. We were already on the way but hit a bit of traffic that we hadn't expected. Once I arrived, I got into line. When it was my turn, our order was actually sitting on the counter, bagged up and poking out of a food warmer bag. What'd we get? Shu Mai Ha Gao Beef Balls Steamed Tofu Skins in Oyster Sauce Steamed BBQ Pork Buns Steamed Egg Custard Buns Pan Fried Stuffed Bell Peppers with Shrimp Pan Fried Chive Dumplings Pan Fried Turnip Cakes Deep Fried Sticky Rice Meat Dumpling Egg Rolls Steamed Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf Congee with Pork & Preserved Egg Congee with Fish Everything was delicious as expected except the Steamed Egg Custard Buns was quite "bready" and the Custard was completely set rather than wet and flowing. No pictures this time since we've ordered most of the same items before.

Some tables get iPads to order, others paper menus to mark off and submit--not sure if there's a method to which table gets what. iPad ordering makes things really easy, especially if you decide to order more food. Food rolls out SUPER quickly if you get here around opening. I love this place for their flavorful, consistently delicious food. Must-get dishes include the baked custard buns, shrimp rice rolls, siu mai, and salted egg fried pumpkin.

I originally came to Fusion Delight because of the purple interior…read more Seriously. The giant lotus chandeliers, the deep violet lighting, the old-school banquet hall atmosphere - it immediately reminded me of the large Cantonese restaurants that used to define family dining in the Bay Area years ago. But after eating here during a packed weekend dinner service, I realized the real attraction is not the decor. It is the operational consistency. The dining room was completely full, with a long line of people still waiting outside. Under that kind of pressure, many large Chinese restaurants start losing control somewhere: fried dishes soften, stir-fries lose wok hei, food arrives unevenly, service becomes rushed. Fusion Delight somehow keeps the system together. And what impressed me even more was that the staff never became impatient. Even with the restaurant running at full capacity, the servers stayed friendly, patient, and organized. No chaos, no attitude - just steady service under pressure. That is not easy in a restaurant this size. The Mongolian beef was the first thing that stood out. Instead of thin slices hidden under sauce, the beef here is cut unusually thick and long - some pieces nearly two inches. Thick-cut beef is risky because once overcooked it immediately turns tough, but here the meat stayed tender while still carrying proper wok sear and caramelization. That tells me the kitchen understands heat control and timing. The crispy pork intestines were even more impressive. These were clearly braised first, then fried before the final stir-fry. The outside kept its gelatin-rich texture while the inside still carried fat and aroma, but without the unpleasant odor that ruins this dish at weaker restaurants. Even people who normally avoid intestine dishes could probably eat this version comfortably. That level of cleaning and pre-processing matters. The braised lamb with skin was another old-school banquet dish done correctly. The lamb was soft without collapsing, while the skin still retained structure. More importantly, the prep work was meticulous -- no gamey smell, no rough trimming, no shortcuts. The sea cucumber and pork tendon dish also showed strong banquet-kitchen fundamentals. The pork tendon had clearly been oil-expanded beforehand, giving it that proper soft and elastic texture instead of rubbery chewiness. The sea cucumber still retained bite and structure. The Singapore-style rice noodles and scallop egg white fried rice were textbook Cantonese banquet staples. The rice noodles stayed dry and separated while still carrying wok aroma and oil fragrance. The scallop egg white fried rice looked simple, but every grain remained distinct and lightly coated without clumping together. That level of consistency under volume is difficult. Even the red bean dessert soup at the end was handled carefully. The red beans still held their shape instead of dissolving into paste, while the sago remained fully intact and translucent. Most restaurants stop caring once dessert leaves the kitchen. Fusion Delight clearly does not. And honestly, that may be the best way to describe this restaurant overall. Fusion Delight is not trying to be trendy. It is not trying to become minimalist fine dining. It is not trying to be social-media bait. This is a high-volume Chinese banquet restaurant operating with old-school Cantonese production discipline. Hot food arrives hot. Fried dishes stay crisp. Wok hei survives peak hours. Plating still looks intentional during a packed dinner service. That kind of consistency is harder than people think. And somehow, inside a giant purple dining room filled wall-to-wall with families, they make it work. - Dr. C Purple room approved. Wok heat calibrated. Banquet discipline detected. Consistency at scale = correct.

The baked pork buns are good - slightly different in that there's no glaze on them but the outside was crispy and the inside tender and the filling was tasty - they are why I'm giving 2 stars. The honey walnut prawns were inedible - the sauce was hard lumpy globs sitting randomly on top of fried shrimps, truly disgusting. The scallion pancakes were not crispy or flaky - Trader Joe's are better. The tofu rolls were cold on one side, like refrigerator cold, while the other side was lukewarm. The jellyfish salad had no flavor whatsoever, just the very slightest hint of sesame. No salt, nothing. The seaweed salad was decent. The deep fried mochi puffs with meat filling were bad. The outer shell was too thick so the inside was uncooked and doughy. Inedible. And, the cold chicken feet were so tough they were in edible. I didn't know you could make chicken feet like that, so tough. Again not really any flavor, they were just tossed with a little bit of chili sauce and hardly any of that. And no vinegar chili sauce for dipping. I would not recommend.

It's getting harder to find places in the Bay Area that still do it this way, mostly because restaurants just don't have the space anymore for carts to weave between tightly packed tables. That alone makes this place feel a little special. The food itself tastes fresh, and yes, the hot sauce passes the test. I've had a few unfortunate (and slightly traumatizing) encounters with off-tasting sauces during the pandemic, so now I always do a cautious smell-and-taste check first. They also serve "tofu fa" (tofu pudding) with a sweet ginger syrup, which was a pleasant surprise. It's one of my favorite desserts and not something you see often at dim sum spots these days since it's not in high demand. Definitely brought back some nostalgic, childhood vibes. Where should I begin? I came to this restaurant with my mom, who lives nearby and has often told me…read morethat the roasted duck here is very good and reasonably priced. We decided to drive over and give it a try. When we arrived, the cashier greeted us politely and asked what we would like to order. We requested half of a roasted duck. She acknowledged the order and called over to the chef to prepare it. The chef walked over and selected a duck hanging on the left side. My mom politely asked if we could instead have the half duck hanging on the right side, mainly because it appeared to be a larger portion. Unfortunately, the chef ignored her request as if he hadn't heard it. I then kindly repeated the request and asked if we could have the one on the right instead. At that point, the chef placed the duck he had taken down back onto the rack and proceeded to serve the next customer in line. He then continued assisting additional customers who arrived afterward while completely ignoring us. After waiting for a while without any acknowledgment, my mom became frustrated and said we should just leave and not purchase anything. Once we said that, the chef suddenly became aggressive and started yelling, saying, "Why the f*** would I cut open a whole duck just to give you half?" As we were leaving, I calmly asked him if the duck on the right side was already cut in half, because we were not asking him to cut a new one. He responded with his mask hanging below his nose and said, "Yes, it's cut in half. So what? I don't want to sell it to you." This interaction was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I'm not sure if he is the chef or the owner, but basic respect and communication with customers should always come first. Due to the situation, I decided to take a photo of the individual. When he noticed, he became even more agitated and chased after my mom and me toward our car. For a moment, I genuinely felt concerned about my mom's safety. He followed us to the car and began trying to take photos of us as well. It was shocking to see someone become so aggressive over a simple request regarding half of a roasted duck. Experiences like this make customers feel uncomfortable and unsafe, and it is not something anyone should have to deal with when simply trying to purchase food. Thankfully my mom and I were not hurt. WE WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN even If it is the last roast duck place in San Leandro, I rather drive up to San Francisco than to spend my money here.
