A surprising wonderful place to enjoy a unique meal with Chinese and Thai fushion. One must try this place. A great find for us.

Be good, super close my hometown taste! Is amazing! We come here once a week; we really enjoy this hometown flavor.

Delicious food, the noodle soup was really good, and good service. Although there were a few Thai dishes on the menu that may not be authentic, but might worth a try. Will definitely come back. 很適合南方人口味.

    Real authentic canto comfort food

Real authentic canto comfort food! Ordered the clay pot rice noodles and a plate of grilled meat, and everything was solid. The soup was clean and comforting, and the clay pot kept it hot the entire time. Ingredients tasted fresh and the portion was generous. The grilled meat was nicely seared, tender, and well-seasoned without being overly salty. Overall, it's a great spot if you're looking for something warm, satisfying, and not too heavy. Would definitely come back and recommend it to friends.

Dried fried wings. Don't get the lemongrass they are not fried like this.

Very nice hidden gem in San Leandro. We were looking for Chinese food and yelp pulled this place up. I wouldn't. Call it Chinese at all, more Thai fusion. Very very tasty with organ meats which are done in a variety of ways. The service is very pleasant. She made mw u suggestions and helped us order better. The ambiance was cute. Clean and comfy. The restrooms are clean too.

Nice little cute Chinese restaurant in San Leandro. The taste of home town. Staffs are friendly.

Based off of previous reviews, my boyfriend and I were definitely hesitant to try this place.. but because it seems that there are no other Chinese skewer spots in the vicinity (Allie Daddy switched from skewers to sushi, and we didn't feel like driving all the way out to Fremont/Milpitas), we gave this place a shot. The menu is pretty light, so it makes it easier to decide what you want to eat. We ordered a little lighter since we weren't too sure of the place yet. Skewers: Beef Skewers ($4.99 for 3) - Good flavor! However, not consistently cooked... the first skewer my boyfriend tried was completely raw in the middle. The other two skewers were cooked a good medium rare. Lightly seasoned and a little sweet in comparison to most Chinese skewer spots that hurt throw on a ton of cumin. We notified the workers about the raw skewer and they recooked us a new batch, but overcooked it the best time to make sure it was fully cooked through -_- but it still had decent flavor and was still somewhat tender with a slight jerkier consistency.. Pork Jowl ($4.99 for 3) - Cooked well. Fatty, large pieces. Solid choice. Lemongrass Chicken Wings ($9.99) - This dish threw me off. It came out looking like a xylophone sorted from biggest size chicken wing to the tiniest wing they could cook. And it looked absolutely NOTHING like the picture someone else posted of the same chicken wings (confirmed with the waitress that the picture was of the same order; just cooked differently). So weird. Tasted fine though. And they gave us 6 wings instead of 5, probably because the wings were so small. Cheese w/ Beef Pancake ($8.99) - THIS. This was good. So simple, yet comforting. Beef was tender, pancake was fluffy and crispy, yet glutinous. The only note is that it's a bit oily, so they could probably lay it on a paper towel to absorb some of that oil or something underneath, but otherwise I loved it. Personally, I'd come here again. But based on the reviews, that's probably because I didn't try their Thai food. Lol, the theme of Thai food confuses me for that place. Don't think I've ever been to a Chinese spot trying to be a Thai restaurant too. But safe to say that their Chinese representation of food worked for us. We did get a bubbly stomach shortly after though, heh, so be forewarned. Ambiance wise, it's a cute small, cozy spot.

the worst basil chicken i've ever had. They legit took drumsticks and cut them up into little pieces.

You do not get what you pay for at this establishment. Paid $15 for a small container of bones! Wtf, Thai Chicken basil that was all bones? They cut drumsticks into small pieces. Nothing but bones, fat and skin. Someone may really enjoy this type of meal but not I. I was beyond difficult to eat without using your hands. Horrible.

RIP Licensed 2 Grill! You will be sorely missed. However, it looks like a cozy new Chinese restaurant will be taking its spot! 01/30/23

Super cute little Chinese café at the former site of Licensed 2 Grill! Even though L2G will be dearly missed, I'm glad a worthy spot has now taken its place. The owners and workers at Hometown Kitchen are all relatively friendly, young and hip. They speak Cantonese and Toisanese (possibly Mandarin, but I didn't verify). During my visit, no English speakers were present, so I can't critique their proficiency. The menu is quite extensive, with a mix of Cantonese/HK (porridge, clay pot, rice bowls, various noodle dishes, organ soup, waffles, etc.) and a bit of northern cuisine (skewers, pancakes). In true Chinese numerology fashion, all prices end in 88, which is the sign for good luck and fortune! Speaking of prices, as of right now, everything is extremely reasonable. When I ordered a few skewers (chicken and pork belly) at $2.18 a pop, I was expecting a single strand, as most other places tend to offer. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised when I was served up THREE whole stacked sticks. And they were all plenty delectable to boot! Furthermore, the Beef Organ and Turnip soup ($11.88) was quite tasty and fresh as well. Another member of my small group also ordered the Pork Belly with Black Bean Sauce Rice Bowl. Although I didn't get to try this one, it seemed to be a hit, and is best devoured with a heaping serving of chili sauce to balance the taste. As of this writing, Hometown Kitchen is still in "soft opening" mode, so do expect offerings and pricing to fluctuate. I most definitely will be returning to sample more items, and am very happy to have another great option very close to my "hometown."

    Nice!

Patty good! Reasonable price! Good service! This is my first time been there it's my hometown favorite

Shrimp pad thai was too sour and wet. 5 good size Chicken wings for $9.99. Fish sticks are thin but tasted good. Service was very good, place is very clean. Like the decoration. I want to try the noodle soup next, I can soup base, type of noodles and toppings.

I originally came to Fusion Delight because of the purple interior…read more Seriously. The giant lotus chandeliers, the deep violet lighting, the old-school banquet hall atmosphere - it immediately reminded me of the large Cantonese restaurants that used to define family dining in the Bay Area years ago. But after eating here during a packed weekend dinner service, I realized the real attraction is not the decor. It is the operational consistency. The dining room was completely full, with a long line of people still waiting outside. Under that kind of pressure, many large Chinese restaurants start losing control somewhere: fried dishes soften, stir-fries lose wok hei, food arrives unevenly, service becomes rushed. Fusion Delight somehow keeps the system together. And what impressed me even more was that the staff never became impatient. Even with the restaurant running at full capacity, the servers stayed friendly, patient, and organized. No chaos, no attitude - just steady service under pressure. That is not easy in a restaurant this size. The Mongolian beef was the first thing that stood out. Instead of thin slices hidden under sauce, the beef here is cut unusually thick and long - some pieces nearly two inches. Thick-cut beef is risky because once overcooked it immediately turns tough, but here the meat stayed tender while still carrying proper wok sear and caramelization. That tells me the kitchen understands heat control and timing. The crispy pork intestines were even more impressive. These were clearly braised first, then fried before the final stir-fry. The outside kept its gelatin-rich texture while the inside still carried fat and aroma, but without the unpleasant odor that ruins this dish at weaker restaurants. Even people who normally avoid intestine dishes could probably eat this version comfortably. That level of cleaning and pre-processing matters. The braised lamb with skin was another old-school banquet dish done correctly. The lamb was soft without collapsing, while the skin still retained structure. More importantly, the prep work was meticulous -- no gamey smell, no rough trimming, no shortcuts. The sea cucumber and pork tendon dish also showed strong banquet-kitchen fundamentals. The pork tendon had clearly been oil-expanded beforehand, giving it that proper soft and elastic texture instead of rubbery chewiness. The sea cucumber still retained bite and structure. The Singapore-style rice noodles and scallop egg white fried rice were textbook Cantonese banquet staples. The rice noodles stayed dry and separated while still carrying wok aroma and oil fragrance. The scallop egg white fried rice looked simple, but every grain remained distinct and lightly coated without clumping together. That level of consistency under volume is difficult. Even the red bean dessert soup at the end was handled carefully. The red beans still held their shape instead of dissolving into paste, while the sago remained fully intact and translucent. Most restaurants stop caring once dessert leaves the kitchen. Fusion Delight clearly does not. And honestly, that may be the best way to describe this restaurant overall. Fusion Delight is not trying to be trendy. It is not trying to become minimalist fine dining. It is not trying to be social-media bait. This is a high-volume Chinese banquet restaurant operating with old-school Cantonese production discipline. Hot food arrives hot. Fried dishes stay crisp. Wok hei survives peak hours. Plating still looks intentional during a packed dinner service. That kind of consistency is harder than people think. And somehow, inside a giant purple dining room filled wall-to-wall with families, they make it work. - Dr. C Purple room approved. Wok heat calibrated. Banquet discipline detected. Consistency at scale = correct.

Visited here with my friends on a Wednesday morning…read more The restaurant opens at 10:30 AM, and we arrived a bit early--there were already a few customers waiting outside. However, within about an hour, the restaurant was almost full. Even though it wasn't the weekend, it was still very busy. This is one of my favorite dim sum spots because the food is consistently delicious, especially the siu mai--it's a must-try! The service is fast and friendly, which makes the experience even better. There is also plenty of parking, which is a big plus. The restaurant is spacious, with beautiful purple lighting that really catches the eye. The high ceiling also makes the space feel very open and comfortable. Although this place doesn't have the highest ratings on Yelp, it's definitely still very popular and worth visiting.

We quickly realized that a lot of people who entered were placing their names on a clipboard to the left. We did the same and the wait time was about 10min. The waiters call your name based on tables available. So 2-3 people usually get called up first. Bigger parties get called once tables are available. So if you have a bigger party on the weekend, be prepared to wait. You can also place an order at the register if you choose takeout, no need to wait. We got seated pretty fast and were handed menus right away. The waitress also brought us cups and water. The menu looked amazing. We ended up ordering the following: 1. Beef stew with crispy noodles - 7/10 we went with the pictured selection instead of rice and I think rice would have been q better option. The dish itself was huge and really good. 2. Tomyum spaghetti - 9/10 this portion was HUGE. The tomyum mixed with spaghetti was really good. 3. Hot coffee - 10/10 my husbands favorite. They sweeten this ahead of time. 4. Their menu inside and their receipts spell their name as one word...Jingege. Why different on this…read morelisting? There's usually a pretty good line right by the register, so this place is pretty well known by the Asian locals. Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup ($16/2*) First outing here I sat for lunch and tried this. Surprisingly disappointing seeing how busy and popular this place is. The wontons were okay, decent flavor with a strong sesame oil presence. But they weren't that plump and luxurious, just seemed like homemade/amateur versions. Which is fine, except given the nicer restaurant feel, I just expected something more elevated. The noodles were fine, super thin egg noodles that had a nice QQ. BUT their broth was so bland and unremarkable that it kinda ruined the whole experience. I couldn't even taste/detect the protein that made up the stock, just tasted like murky liquid to me. And zero condiments on the table, so I just ate the wontons and the plain tasting noodles cuz the broth couldn't offer anything to the noodles. Womp womp. And their bowl of choice is very weird to eat from. Super tall bowl that if you leave a spoon in there it will sink and be submerged for you to fish out...in piping hot liquid. If I would have reviewed this place just on this one visit, then it surely would have been a sub 3* rating. But I knew I couldn't leave my impression with that one lone visit. Roast Duck - Half ($20/4*) Came back for some take-out deli items and I was handsomely rewarded. Total 180 experience from the soup outing. Their ducks here are slightly more expensive than most others for the area. But it is still worth it imo. They cut it with good skill and even for a take-out box they present it nicely, with the shape of duck still somewhat intact. The skin is not crisp at all but it is very well rendered. Some pieces were not that salty at all but some other pieces are well seasoned, which I thought was strange. But overall a very solid roast duck is to be found here. There's also a big scoop of these tiny beans that are slightly sweet almost like baked beans just not as gloopy. But the bean texture is very al dente, almost crunchy, which I found very strange. Macao Roast Pork w/ Rice ($19/4.5*) This is crazy good...I'll even say special. Super seasoned pork belly is roasted til the skin gets crisp...like chicharon status, except it is just a very thin layer of crispness. So the balance between the sturdy crunch and juicy flavorful meat was practically perfect. It is definitely on the salty side, almost the same intenseness as eating Spam with white rice, but white rice offsets those salty components beautifully. And they garnish this massive plate with perfectly blanched gai lan (Chinese Broccoli) and some other pickled greens that add a nice sweet and tangy component. So between the decadent pork, white rice and diverse greens offerings just made this a complete one stop shop that could make a regular out of me. There's also a Share Tea next door so I've got a harmonious tandem going on here. Lucky Ducky Me yassss!

It was so nice to eat locally and have a good meal with great parking. They are in the Safeway shopping center and share a lot with them. The place is clean and bright, very inviting. Most of the party arrived before us so we were able to easily find our table. We were set next to the fish take, by the kitchen. It was a good arrangement. We had 2 tables with identical entrees. We ordered: Green Beans, Salt and pepper chicken wings, shrimp fried rice (Everyone's least favorite dish), Chow Fun, duck, and probably some other dishes. The green beans were the best dish. The chicken wings were good, but not as flavorful as people hoped, they probably won't be ordered again. The fired rice was a big disappointed, it had shrimp in it, but it lacked flavor. We didn't get a soup. We also had a steamed fish which was really good, coming from a not big fish fan. It was seasoned with soy sauce and was a big hit with the table. Even my picky nephew ate some. We also had calamari, it wasn't a big hit, we didn't even take it home with the leftovers. We all got tea and we asked for ice water for everyone which was drank along with the tea. If you request it they will bring out forks, my brother in law made the request. I was impressed even the kids used chopsticks. I definitely reccomend this restaurant. Especially for large groups. It's set up for banquets. I can't comment on the bathroom, because we didn't use it.

It was flavorful, tender and I thought they used the right amount of sauce for my liking. The dining area was quite big. The baked pork buns are good - slightly different in that there's no glaze on them but the outside was crispy and the inside tender and the filling was tasty - they are why I'm giving 2 stars. The honey walnut prawns were inedible - the sauce was hard lumpy globs sitting randomly on top of fried shrimps, truly disgusting. The scallion pancakes were not crispy or flaky - Trader Joe's are better. The tofu rolls were cold on one side, like refrigerator cold, while the other side was lukewarm. The jellyfish salad had no flavor whatsoever, just the very slightest hint of sesame. No salt, nothing. The seaweed salad was decent. The deep fried mochi puffs with meat filling were bad. The outer shell was too thick so the inside was uncooked and doughy. Inedible. And, the cold chicken feet were so tough they were in edible. I didn't know you could make chicken feet like that, so tough. Again not really any flavor, they were just tossed with a little bit of chili sauce and hardly any of that. And no vinegar chili sauce for dipping. I would not recommend.
