Saw this on Instagram. Yes, the corn beef sandwich was good! Messy but good! Bread super fresh. I got a side of stuffed cabbage and mashed potatoes and gravy. No pastrami which was a bummer bc that's why I drove there. :-( Disappointed bc the prices on the reel were $5 lower than what were posted. Sandwiches about $14 each. I may go back for Sat prime rib at some point and when pastrami comes back

This is one of those places that I've always known to be around but just never got around to visiting. Finally we made the trip to pop in on a Saturday night and we've found out we've been missing out all these years! It's a casual spot, great for families or get togethers as the seating is plentiful and you don't feel rushed to eat and get out. You line up and order your food, cafeteria style. You'll see them carve up your meats right in front of you! Since it was Saturday we got the prime rib. I was pleasantly surprised as the quality and quantity were good for the price. A huge salad came with it and sides as well. Very reasonable for prime rib! The kiddo got ham and really enjoyed that as well. Overall, they have a great selection of meats at a very reasonable price, they do meals to-go, and it's a great gathering place. Can't wait to come back again!
I ordered the roast beef entree after seeing so many people recommend it. It came with mashed potatoes, gravy, a dinner roll with butter, and a celery salad. Unfortunately, the roast beef wasn't at its best today. The slices were cut too thick and contained a lot of connective tissue, making the meat very chewy. It also had a noticeable metallic smell and lacked the savory, beefy flavor I was expecting. I'll probably skip this dish next time and give their turkey leg a try instead.
Came in on a Saturday evening about 4pm and they were pretty business, but they do move fast. Got my usual, Turkey dinner with turkey gravy. Asa always the turkey was cooked perfect, but the gravy was a little off. Didn't have the flavor like before, maybe a off day. But still good.
This place so reminds me of like an old school Reno restaurant, the vibe, the woodsy look, the smell, the people that dine here and the staff. The staff seems to have been here for a while, liking their job. The place is clean and huge. Great for big groups. No need for a time limit. Good for a birthday or long hang out. It's only missing the slot machines! Haha The food is American dishes like steak with mashed potatoes, sandwiches, salad and pies. They also have Mac & cheese, some Italian or Mexican dishes. Prices are very decent. Portions are great. I had their prime rib sandwich. Tender and pretty good but I still had to add some salt and pepper for flavor; this is also why you get Au Ju with it but not enough for me.. My company all had the hot turkey with mashes potatoes & gravy sandwich. It's basically an open faced sandwich. It was a large portion and full of gravy. They loved it. If you are a senior, you get a discount so no wonder there were many seniors. A good place to come again for a long lunch or dinner meal. Food is decent but not fancy. [5R,2026]
First time coming here, and it can be a bit overwhelming to know what to order. Upon entering you're welcomed by a hot bar that you are served from. I got the pastrami dinner, which comes with mash potatoes and one side of your choosing, Mac and cheese for me. The servers do make you feel a bit rushed, which is a bit off-putting as a first timer. Once you pay for your food, you can walk to any available table. The restaurant is dimly lit and feels a bit cozy. The table was relatively clean and there's a bar in the back of the restaurant. The food was good, the Mac and cheese and mash potatoes was reminiscent of hometown buffet in a good way. Would come back to switch it up from the usual spots I go to.
I've seen this place so many times and finally got around to trying it with the family. First impression was how big it is. We came around 4:30pm and it was a little busy, but the line moved fast. The menu and daily specials made ordering easy, and the staff were very friendly and helpful since it was our first visit. Seniors and kids pay less. I went with the roasted chicken and pastrami with mashed potatoes and brown gravy, plus a Caesar salad. The dinner roll with butter is amazing! Everything was satisfying. The vibe was calm and not too loud, which made it easy to relax with the family and enjoy the meal. We were all full and happy, and I didn't even have room for dessert (chocolate cake next time!). We'll definitely be back, especially on a Friday to try their Boston clam chowder.
I had the honor of visiting Harry's Hofbrau on Sunday 8/23/26 around 4pm, and I just wish I had found this place sooner. The selection is MASSIVE, so I needed a minute to figure out which direction I wanted to go. Meatloaf specials, carved sandwiches, turkey dinners, pot roast -- and they were carving pork loin, roast beef, ham, corned beef and plenty of other stuff to order. There were seriously so many things that looked legit. The staff was super helpful (and patient!) walking us through all the options, including what felt like a million different sides. My gf and I finally landed on: I got the Meatloaf Dinner Special with red sauce, plus a side of the other sauce so I could try both. It came with 2 sides and a roll. I went with the classic stuffing, which was great. My gf got the Reuben Sandwich with Greek salad and coleslaw. Of course that wasn't enough, so I also had to try the Mac and Cheese, German potato salad and macaroni salad. The dining room is huge with high ceilings. It has that old-school German beer hall feel, wide open and relaxed atmosphere. There's also a full bar and outdoor patio with plenty of seating, but we decided to eat in the main hall. As far as the food -- the meatloaf was great! I tried both sauces and would definitely just stick with the red sauce next time. The Reuben was also a hit. Stuffing, Greek salad, mac and cheese, coleslaw and macaroni salad were all excellent! The German potato salad was really the only thing that fell a little short for me. Needed some more salt and just a little more oomf. I appreciate having the options, but I'd probably pass on it next time. The bread was fine, but it did its job perfectly when it came time to wipe the plate clean. We also got 2 fountain sodas and the ENTIRE bill came to just under $60. Absolutely worth it IMO. Huge selection, very fair prices, helpful staff, big portions, comfortable seating, a full bar and fresh carved meats. Almost everything we tried ranged from good to excellent, and we had so much food that we brought home a bunch of the sides plus half the Reuben to eat later. That's serious value for good food in the Bay Area. If you've never been to Harry's Hofbrau, I definitely recommend making a visit. With this many options I feel like you could come back over and over and barely scratch the surface. The specials change daily so there are other items I'll be returning for. I'll def be adding this one to my 3-4 visits a year list.
I go to the San Leandro location, this is my go to for comfort food, cafeteria type, grab a tray and stroll down the line, there are several choices on the menu, one of my favorites is their rotisserie chicken, you also pick your sides and there're many to choose from, no disappointments.

Nostalgic, home style cuisine in a historic establishment. The parking lot is always packed, so we decided to give it a visit on a weekday evening. It was fairly busy, but the cafeteria-style line moves quickly. Service was very friendly. I ordered the turkey wing meal, which came with two sides (I chose mashed potatoes and red cabbage) and a generous ladle of gravy. The meal itself was fine. The turkey wing was fatty, the mashed potatoes were average, and the red cabbage was extremely acidic, which was actually nice for cutting through the richness. The roll was just okay. There is a wide selection of beers on tap, and you can take your mug home (which we chose to do) for $5! Overall, a unique experience that I recommend for the nostalgic vibes.
Another Sunday dinner at one of our favorite restaurants Ironically, the weekend after Thanksgiving and I ordered the turkey leg dinner I've been craving a turkey leg from Disneyland for years now and this really satisfy my craving . It was juicy, very tender and all of the side dishes paired with it perfectly. Their turkey gravy is outstanding. I also got the mushrooms side dish. Let me tell you these mushrooms are out of this world. They're so simple yet so tasty. They're savory, and cooked to perfection. One of my favorite things to get when I come here. Kids had lasagna and they really enjoyed it as well. They said it was really cheesy and the sauce was flavorful He really can't go home Harry's hofbrau The food is always good, the service is fast and the atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly.

This was my first time eating at Harry's Hofbrau. I went on a Sunday because I wanted to try their prime rib, but unfortunately, I found out they don't serve it on Sundays. I ended up ordering the Beef Stroganoff, and it was really good! The beef was tender, the sauce was rich and flavorful, and the portion was very generous. It came with rice, a side salad, and a roll, so it was definitely a filling meal. Overall, I had a great first experience. The food was delicious, portions were huge, and I'd definitely come back -- especially to finally try the prime rib next time! read more

It was family and I's first time here and my mom actually found this place through a Foodie YouTuber she watches. There's lots of parking even though we went on a Saturday afternoon. Once you walk inside, you get in line to order your food, & after you get your food, choose any of the empty tables to sit at. This format reminds me a lot of Disneyland/California Adventure. I ordered the baked ham, bleu cheese salad, and mashed potatoes. My family each got a different type of meat. The collective favorite was definitely the brisket. I'd definitely come back one day! We all really enjoyed our time here. read more
Stopped by while going on a bike ride with my Boyfriend and things were good. First time here after driving by this place since 10 years ago lol it wasn't busy but there is lots of options to pick from. We got food then sat at the bar and the bartender was super sweet. Came a couple hours before closing (11pm) on a weekend. Wasn't busy, but still a good amount of patrons dining. It was my first time eating there besides attending a Paint Night event years ago. It's spacious with lots of booths and tables, along with a bar area that we didn't get to check out. Since we didn't have any Thanksgiving food over the holiday, we decided to come here and give their Roast Turkey dinner a try. The man serving me asked if I wanted stuffing and mashed potatoes and gravy, which I said yes. As I went down the line, I also got a wheat dinner roll, a side of beets, some cranberry sauce, and a fountain soda. Came out to around $25. First thoughts- a hefty amount of food! Turkey was moist, gravy was nice. Bread was not dry at all. But everything was disappointingly cold. Also the stuffing was an unfortunate gluey, pasty plop of mush hidden beneath the turkey slices. Kinda killed it for me. read more
I love the home made taste of their foods here. I stopped in on my way over to the Bay before I jumped on the bridge. If you are in the mood for deliciously made turkey dinner with the fixings, come on by! The turkey was roasted to perfection, not dry. The gravy was not too salty drenching the mashed potatoes and stuffing! So good! The Senior dinner comes with a beverage and a scoop of ice cream or jello for $17.95! Can't beat that! The place gets busy after 4:30pm. Nice servers. Plenty of booths and tables! read more
Harry's Hofbrau is a classic. It's like stepping into a time warp in the best way possible (think big fireplace, dark wood, booths). The staff is so nice, and of course the food is delicious. Consistent and exactly what you want, every time. The menu is actually pretty big, and they have specials for each day of the weekend (Fridays are tri-tip days). So there's also something new to try if you're wanting to shake it up. read more

Went here for the first time and it won't be my last. They have a classic cafeteria set-up that I miss, as these no longer exist aside from the restaurant within IKEA. I've ordered the brisket dinner for lunch and it did not disappoint. It was a hearty portion that is cooked home style while being tender and seasoned, 4/5 stars. Plus you get two sides and a dinner roll. I chose mashed potatoes and mac & cheese, both a 3.5/5 stars rating. The service was efficient and the ambiance was peaceful while I was there. read more
Most of my childhood friends moved out of San Francisco. Sometimes I have to go to where they are. The Harry's Hofbrau in Redwood City is better. But since they live in Union City/San Leandro, we came here instead. Same great food. We ordered their Saturday Specials, 10 oz prime rib $29 x2 and a turkey enchilada $16. Everyone here is super nice. We had a small child with us and a staff person helped us carry a tray to our table. As for the food, it was a lot. The prime rib was served medium rare with au jus. This was delicious with the herb crust. My friend liked her turkey enchilada $16 and would get it again. Somehow we still had room for some strawberry shortcake for to-go. My friend lined again at 7pm at which point wrapped around 2x. When he finally got to the cashier, she said next time, just come to the cashier if he was ordering dessert. We didn't know that and didn't want to cut anyone. But now we know. Great job everyone at Harry's Hofbrau. read more
You never want to pass up an opportunity to eat at a Hofbrau, especially Harry's! I love this place! So you walk in and go straight to the counter to order. I recommend the tri tip sandwich or the turkey open face sandwich. My go to sides are macaroni salad, mashed potatoes, and mac n cheese. The guy carving the meat will hook you up with a generous stack of meat, then the helpers will get the sides and then you pay, find a table and get after it. This is delicious food and you get a pile of it. The ambiance is fantastic, leather booths, high ceilings, variety of flags, bright yellow menu above the cafeteria style bar. It's honestly the best. I hope more young people discover the Hofbrau so they stick around. Definitely 5 stars. Eat here! read more

My boyfriend and I went here March 10 and they were having the St. Patrick's Day special of Corn Beef and Cabbage. I chose the Corn Beef and cabbage and my boyfriend chose the meatloaf. Corn beef was tender and delicious!! It came with potatoes and carrots. Portions are huge and you'll leave with a happy tummy. read more
I've tried more of the menu and upgrade my old review. Its growing on me more and more. We have family get together here atleast 2 to 3 times a year. I always look forward to trying something new on the menu I haven't tried before. The strawberry shortcake is absolutely delicious and amazing. Get it when its in season, you won't be disappointed. read more

I like this place because of its old local roots feel it also gives you a feel of stepping into Octoberfest in Germany. It is an assembly line style pick and choose what you want type of food place. The food is very simple if you're looking for a home-cooked meal vibe type of family restaurant. I think it's good to give the spot a chance at least once in your life because it is a staple of the Bay Area. The food in my opinion was just okay and very basic. read more

Absolutely love cafeteria style serving. I attended Harry's with a group. Harry's Hofbrau reminds me of Brennan's in Berkeley (was my favorite restaurant for ages). I essentially have a thanksgiving meal at cafeteria style restaurants. Harry's brought back many memories. I live about 25 minute away. When I'm near San Leandro, I'll definitely return. read more

This resturant is the perfect place for large parties and home cooking. Service is nice, helpful, and accommodating. I love how big the resturant is with so many places to sit. Great place to go with kids!! It is one in a million, please stop by! read more
