Ive been to this location a few times, now. Coming early is highly recommended. This place isnt the smallest but its still popular enough to leave you waiting an while if you come during peak hours. Theres a big parking lot for the shopping center which also gets busy but you can find something. The interior is bright with plenty of windows and outdoor seating available. The menu has plenty to choose from. The breakfast options are really good but this last visit we chose the lunch options. The spare rib french dip looked like I'd need to hit a drive thru after but it turned out I couldnt even finish my plate! The fries and sandwich really hit the spot. My companion rushed their choice and got a loco moco which isnt necessarily what they wanted. No worries, you can probably pick an item with your eyes closed at random and still be pleased with your order. Cooked medium on the burger patty, they nailed the temperature. The fried egg was cooked exactly as ordered. You'd be surprised how even the simplest things can be looked over while dropping the ball. This wasnt the case, here. They hit all the marks and we even had food left over to enjoy in the middle of the night lol. The kimchi and chili sauce were major supplemental flavors. The waiters/waitresses are very nice and friendly. The only problem was, once our food arrived I didnt see my waiter again. Perhaps on their break? We had to bother another worker for our check and to-go boxes. This isnt always the case and I wont hold it against them but I mentioned it to give realistic expectations. Things happen and im a patient person. I definitely recommend this establishment and will be coming back soon.
Came on a Monday at 10:30am and it was busier than I expected! Waited around ten minutes before getting seated for a party of two. I ordered the Neptune Benedict. It comes with two humongous pieces filled with shrimp and fresh crab. They didn't skimp on the seafood. It also comes with cream cheese, which makes it quite hefty, but was tasty. One piece filled me up and I was able to save the other for my hubby at home. The hashbrowns were just whatever. I ordered it extra crispy but it still seemed a bit soggy. I appreciate their hot sauce options, including cholula and the pepper plant. I enjoyed the ambiance. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. Would go back!
The Breakfast Club in Castro Valley is such a great spot! The atmosphere is amazing, and the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. My water cup stayed filled the entire time, so a special shout-out to our waiter, Justin who was very polite, attentive, and helpful. They have plenty of seating options, including indoor dining, outdoor dining, and a nice bar area. The menu had so many great choices that it was hard to decide, but our server was helpful in making a recommendation. I ordered the Carnitas Benedict, and it was absolutely amazing! I also ordered the pomegranate mimosa, which was definitely strong but delicious. Even though it was a very busy Saturday, it only took about 10 minutes to get seated, which was impressive. Overall, great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. I highly recommend checking out The Breakfast Club if you're in Castro Valley!
As usual a busy restaurant but always efficient quick service and well prepared food. I like the extensive menu for breakfast items, sandwiches and burgers. The mushroom burger was a delicious meal for brunch time.
Wait can get pretty long so please anticipate that before coming. It gets really busy here on weekends. Expectations should be that things can get slow but the food is worth the wait. A lot of items to choose from but the midtown trio is really worth ordering. You can select your own pancakes and french toast to make up the trio but I would suggest the cookie butter pancake. It was the best of the three we got. All the food items look really good, so I am sure if you order anything it will be a hit. They have specialty lattes, so ditch the Philz across the street and order a nice latte here. This is a family friendly environment as they will supply kids with stuff to occupy themselves. There is a bar area too which has a tv for the game. I understand why this place gets so busy. I would come back for a celebration or a meet up with friends.
Im gonna get the tough part out of the way, this place is definitely expensive. Everything is expensive these days but if you are willing to spend a little more than you normally would for breakfast, the food here was delicious all the times I have ever come here. Today, I ordered a flat white and a short-rib hash and my wife had a crab cake benedict. One of the protips here is that if your entree comes with a bread option, you are able to choose a slice of their coffee cake. Ive been here four times this year and I never had a bad dish. Service was good although the food took a little while to make it to us, it was a Saturday morning and the place was packed. If you are able ot get here around 9-930, you should be okay but be prepared to wait if you come after 10. Their menu selection has a good variety and they have some good Latin and Asian inspired dishes. I do appreciate their extensive drink menu which different coffees and lattes, juices, alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. If you can get over the price, Id highly recommend this place. Remember, eating our in general is expensive so if you go somewhere else, sure you will be paying less however, the quality here is worth the price.
Service was fine and not the issue! Over hyped and over priced. Food was just mediocre at best for me... My favorite thing to order at breakfast spot is Chicken Fried Steak. The CFS here at Breakfast Club was not it. Yes it was big but it was underseasoned. I've been to other breakfast spot that taste better and cheaper. 2/5 for the size of the food. 1/5 for the taste. My sons Strawberry Banana crepe was big yes, but the batter was cakey. It was doughy for a crepe. 3/5 Also didn't like that they put my cold Watermelon on top of my hot Hashbrown. So when I took a bite of my Watermelon it was warm. Who likes to eat warm watermelon I sure don't. I cannot speak for the other food we order because I did not taste them. This is our second time here. I want to mention that I didn't want to return after our first time. But my family did, so we had too. Now they know why we will not return here...

Saturday morning after our morning walk, we stopped in. There were a lot of people, but not super busy. I am a light eater. First thing I noticed, there is no option for small portions on the menu. I ended up getting the basic - eggs, potatoes, and sausage. The eggs were undercooked. Take a look at the snapshot. I told the server, but I kept the dish and just told him to bring me a separate plate with scrambled eggs instead. They were quick to do that. The potatoes did not look appealing, but after I tried them they were not too bad. Tasty actually. And you can't go wrong with sausages. I gobbled them up. However, $7 for a small glass of orange juice? I was a bit astonished. Not necessarily by the price, but for the small glass. I will think twice before coming back.
Great brunch. Great service. Local staple. It's a fast paced brunch spot that is quick to serve a huge array of brunch options for anyone who is hungry. It's very chill ok the patio most days but inside is the average noise level of a brunch spot. It's a favorite on a Sunday but be patient when looking for parking
Second time here and it was packed again! (Came here 2 times on a weekday) Overall, the food is good, but the service can be a little hit or miss, probably because they're always so busy. The chicken & waffles were really good, but I'd recommend getting the sauce on the side because there was a lot and it made the waffles pretty soggy. The crab cake Benedict was okay, nothing too special. The Trio was a great choice though, you get to try three different pancakes/French toast, which is perfect for sharing and trying a little bit of everything. One thing to keep in mind: parking is VERY tight. Both times I've had trouble finding a spot and ended up parking across the street, so definitely come a little early. Overall, good food and I'd come back again!
This is the third location of The Breakfast Club we have visited, in addition to Lafayette and Walnut Creek. We came in for Sunday brunch, and the place was absolutely packed, and more people both inside and outside waiting for tables. According to the staff, this is nothing out of the ordinary. We grabbed a couple of bar seats as soon as they opened. There was primarily one staff member manning the bar area, and he was a pro at keeping his cool under pressure, even though he was absolutely swamped. The menu appears to be the same as the other locations. I ordered the avocado toast with a couple of modifications to make it vegan: vegan eggs, and no butter. When my dish came out, it had regular poached eggs on top, so back to the kitchen it went. They corrected the error and remade the dish. This was actually my first time trying vegan 'eggs', and I was pleasantly surprised - very tasty! Richard had the Kentucky Scramble and enjoyed it. True to form for The Breakfast Club, the portions were very generous. We could have shared something, but I'm sure RB wouldn't be a huge fan of sharing a vegan meal, especially with fake eggs, lol. That's sacrilegious in his book. They have a jukebox, and it was great to hear 90's tunes playing - I still have Crazy Town's 'Butterfly' playing in my head. Fun visit, and would return to this location when in the area.

Seemed a little more chaotic than the other locations. I tried the Kentucky Scramble for the first time and was good. Andrea went with the Avocado Toast with vegan eggs. Not sure what that is. (Eye Roll). Even though she was very explicit and the server guy got the order correctly the kitchen messed up and 2 perfectly poached eggs on top. Back to the kitchen to whip up some chemical eggs, oops, I mean vegan eggs. They have an extensive list of Momo's for the ladies and others interested in those things. I like my champs plain or at home I put in blackberries, blueberries raspberries and the occasional strawberry. Berries are a very important part of your diet and should consume daily, especially with bubbles. But I digress. One of the nice behaviors here and other locations is the no rush policy. We typically take our time when we are out and a lot of places want to turn the seats quickly. Not here. Parking is a mess. Luckily it's in a shopping center and can find places a short walk away. This location had an AMI digital jukebox blasting tune which I have not seen at the others. Also 2 patios for outside seating.
Reviews are mixed. Many highlight the generous portions, varied menu, and lively atmosphere. Drinks are also well-liked.

This opened few months ago and my husband said we were gonna try it one of these days.... We used to go there before when it was still Shari's cafe. And so one Saturday morning we finally went to have our breakfast date lol at 8 in the morning! Im not really a breakfast person on a daily basis but we consider this our "date" and we only get to do it once in awhile anyways so why not!? Lol l actually love that since we got in around 8 no long line to wait so we got seated right away even though there were a lot of people dining already. Coz everytime I pass around here when I go shopping in the area, there's always a long line around lunch time. We ordered the eggs Benedict combo meal($27 for two) where you can split what type of eggs Benedict you want. I got the classic and husband got the chicken katsu. Weird right? Lol well they have like 9-10 different types of them so you pick your own. It was a big serving so it was just perfect for the two of us. Mine was just perfect the Canadian ham and egg plus the hollaindaise sauce was so perfect and creamy and then with my coffee oh it just hits the spot yummm . Service was fast and staff were very attentive. I love their decor too and looks really clean. We left happy and satisfied. To add more. We came back after 2 weeks! This time it was on a Sunday lol Ordered Ribeye w chimichurri with 3 eggs and toast combo w hash brown. Hubby and I shared again. And again... it was perfect! We left happy and satisfied. Been to this location a few times now. First time we ordered online the first week they opened and the food wasn't great. We have since dined in and done a few more take ours and been happy with the service and food. They have a verity of different dishes to choose from. I especially like the pancake flight and the blueberry lemon ricotta is my favorite. Coffee is strong but good. I also like that I can dine with my dog in their front patio. read more

I had been looking forward to coming to this restaurant for brunch for a while now, although I was not satisfied with my experience I think this place has a lot of promise and I hope to come back and have a better experience. Wait time was 45 minutes for two so we opted to sit at the bar area for open seating. We got the chilaquiles and the lo carb (i think it was called that). The Good: - Serving sizes are generous - Pricing is fair when compared to other brunch places - Fruits on the side were tasty - Mimosa serving was very generous - Our waiter Gerardo was friendly and attentive despite seeming very busy behind the bar The Feedback: - Flavors left more to be desired, everything was just OK. More seasoning across the board would go a long way. Even the salsa was flavorless. - The sugar rim on the Mimosa was unnecessary and I would have preferred to have known it would come with it so i could decline. - There was not enough chips in the chilaquiles - Wait staff all seemed stressed and overwhelmed. read more
Contrary to the many negative reviews, I think this place is great and it really blew me away! From the food to the service to the value it was truly best in class! The only thing I can see being off-putting is the wait time to get seated. Luckily I went in on an early Friday morning where it may have been slower than usual compared to a weekend time. The food was top-tier, big portions, and I was surprised to come with a free/included freshly made coffee cake as a desert as part of my entree (if you pick it over the fries or other options, which I highly recommend the coffee cake). Extensive drinks and cocktail list available but we opted for a cup of coffee which was strong and good. Ambience was nice! Lots of cool designs and decorations throughout and upscale vibe. The Bar/counter area is modern but you can tell it pays homage to the retro diner nostalgic vibe. This bar area is a walk-up first-come-first-serve seating and has TV's which is a big plus! The restaurant regular seating area is very modern updated and clean. This area requires assigned seating and requires you to put your name on the wait list once inside. Can't wait to go back! This was my first time coming to this restaurant, wait was approximately 15 mins for a party of 2 not bad. We got seated outside and there was shade which I appreciate. I definitely enjoy the multicultural menu. Food did take 33 minutes to come out but was very delicious. Coffee was also amazing. Ambiance was fresh and was giving spring vibes inside. I was just very disappointed with our waiter he forgot a few of our dishes but once we made him aware he brought them out. Also once food was dropped off he never came to check on us at all, we had to ask the busboy for our utensils & condiments he was very friendly I appreciate him a lot more than our waiter. read more

This has been my 2nd visit since my first review. That review was during the first week after this place initially opened. I was happy to see the improvement. The food was good and the service was excellent. I will return for a 3rd visit, I am glad to see this place is still open and business is growing. read more
This place was packed on a Sunday but we were seated right away on the patio on an overcast day. Perfect! The coffee was forgettable but my blueberry lemon pancakes hit the spot. One of my kids got the Monte Cristo and was not impressed with some of the turkey that was super dry. My other kid got this huge breakfast sandwich that was impressive-- she would recommend it. Our server was very good and very pleasant. Their menu is overwhelming! So much to try! read more

Came here because the place is always packed and I wanted to see if the hype was worth it. Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming from start to finish. We stood at the entrance for a while without anyone acknowledging us even though staff clearly saw us there. Not the best first impression. The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of seating, so I can see why it's popular for brunch groups. Food-wise, it was hit or miss. The corned beef skillet had really flavorful corned beef, but the potatoes were overly mushy. The loco moco was the bigger disappointment -- the burger patty tasted extremely burnt, almost like charcoal, and made the dish hard to eat. The gravy and rice saved it a little, and the kimchi on the side was actually pretty good. Also noticed the mac salad that was supposed to come with it never arrived. Service stayed slow throughout the meal, especially when it came time to pay. We waited forever just to get the check. Overall, definitely not worth the hype. read more
Honestly not sure what all the lower ratings are about, but The Breakfast Club has some of the largest portions for reasonable prices ($20-25 a plate depending on what you get) in the area. You also get friendly and attentive service and a nice, clean place to enjoy brunch with friends and family. I had my coffee and water refilled every 5-10 minutes, and I had the option for toast or coffee cake with my scramble. Next time, I'm coming back to share a stack of their specialty pancakes. I'm so glad Castro Valley has added this establishment to their roster! read more
Quick service, hearty servings, lively atmosphere. The Breakfast Club is a chain restaurant known for their namesake food and also brunch and lunch. They have everything from huevos rancheros to sandwiches to pancake stacks. The only drawback in this location is difficulty finding parking and the looong wait times during the weekend, so try to get a reservation if you can. If not, you can always grab a coffee nearby or walk around the shops across the street. read more

We just went to the Livermore location and stumbled across this one the other day. Breakfast is just that, breakfast, the basics. I will say, something did not sit well with my stomach after this visit. Not sure if I would go back to this location. My family has been going here every other weekend for like a year now. This is our favorite spot for brunch. My FIL tried pretty much all of their menu options and liked most of them. I like their classics burger. Service was always good. They get very crowded on the weekends so make sure you come early and put your name on the waiting list. read more
Came here for breakfast and had a really good meal. I ordered the steak and eggs, and the steak was cooked well and had great flavor. The portions were huge, so you definitely get your money's worth. The eggs and hash browns were all delicious too. We sat outside on the patio, which was nice and relaxing. The service was friendly and the food came out pretty fast. Visited on Saturday morning & did not have to wait at all. There was plenty of parking in the plaza. The restaurant has a lot of seating so good for families and groups. They had a lot of menu options to choose from and I suggest coming in hungry or sharing a plate as their portions are huge! My boyfriend & I shared the midtown trio and it was so delicious the pancakes were fluffy my favorite was the blueberry lemon ricotta. The raspberry french toast was super sweet if you're into that. The peach cobbler was also delicious. My friends ordered the mexican scramble and chilaquiles with the hash potatoes and they said it was delicious. The service was really quick and our servers were friendly. I'll definitely come back again to try other menu items! read more
The staff and food are great! One of my favorite places to get breakfast. Went in with my family and were immediately seated. They have an outside area to sit as well as inside. The food is amazing. Looks good, tastes good and the portions are huge. I got the breakfast enchiladas with a side of linguica, my daughter got the strawberry banana crepes, my kid got the Mickey Mouse pancake and my fiancé got the verde chilaquiles. So pleasantly surprised to see that they have a breakfast club in the Castro Valley!! This upscale, trendy breakfast place has a variety of offerings. They have basic breakfasts - both savory and sweet- but also dishes some Mexican and Asian flair. -Chilaquiles (4/5) - yummy and huge portion. Served with short rib, beans, and hash browns. The green sauce is a perfect mild, and it's served with lots of toppings - cheese, guac, jalapeños - the works. -Korean fried chicken and rice (4/5) - the chicken was a little on the spicier side but overall a good dish! We came after the lunch hour, about 2 pm, and were seated outside without a wait. The restaurant is very spacious and vibey. Service was friendly, and food came out in about 10-15 min. They were very accommodating and sat us in an area that could fit my stroller. I'll definitely be back to this location for brunch! read more
Me and my friend were quite surprised to see that they had opened a new Breakfast at Midtown -- because to be honest, we had only knew of the one near Downtown San Jose. The logo looked legit, so we decided to give it a try. All I will say is -- despite being really spontaneous about it, I do not regret going to this new location. Not only is it closer to me in terms of distance to my house, but also, it is very close to work for me, and a prime location for me and my Castro Valley friends to meet up. The ambiance was also very similar to the one in San Jose, except The hospitality at the Breakfast at Midtown was top-tier. I really appreciated the fact that they were able to seat us inside despite how busy they were in the morning. We got a mimosa each, with orange juice, and Benedicts and omelettes. It was really savory, not too overly salted, and I thought that it was quite enough for both of us. The portion was so big that I had to take the rest to have for leftovers. Will definitely be back to bring more friends to this breakfast spot -- they are as equally yummy as the San Jose one, so thankfully they won't have to make that trek down to the South Bay if we wanted a taste. read more

Came here on a Friday at 1 pm. Restaurant wasn't too crowded and we were seated right away. If you can accept loud music and perks talking. It's a fair place to visit . They do need to tone down their music though especially during brunch hours. read more
