This place was soooo good! When my husband & I came it was Saturday early afternoon no one was there but maybe 2 other little families so it was quiet. It had just opened. The food c was delicious! Staff was very welcoming & very attentive. Definitely will be going back.

Cozy place to kick back and enjoy delicious Thai food. Friendly and helpful staff. I tried money bags for the first time. Almost like a spring roll, but more flavorful. I love the name too. Pineapple fried rice is always my standard bearer for a place serving Thai food. This one is a solid 4 stars. It's good and has the flavor I like but was missing just a little bit of kick. I also prefer cashews and a deeper curry flavor. Otherwise, I enjoyed it and the portions are plentiful!

Quality/Quantity - It has been a long time since we have been here. Looks like the same family/employees are still working here. Today we got the following: A7. Money Bags - My wife always gets this; she must really like it. A1. Stuffed Angel Wings - WOW, my favorite! My wife preferred stuffed Angel Wings from Spice I Am (not sure why I do NOT have a review on this restaurant?!?!), but this is my new favorite for stuffed Angel Wings!! E2 Pad Se Ew Chicken - Still my daughter's favorite. Overall good. E4. Pad Thai beef - My usual go-to which was also good. Overall the meal was good, and we even had a little left over, but then again, we are also light eaters. Lunch menus are also available. Atmosphere - Decent size restaurant. Interesting shape, but it lends well to private or semi private events. Free limited (2 hours) street parking. Notice the warning signs of car break-ins, be safe. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 9pm; closed Mondays. Service - Good. Price - $70 + tip; reasonably priced. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since July of 2021.

My husband and I dined here for lunch. They have an ALL DAY menu, no lunch. It's a little pricey. When we walked-in, I noticed a thumping sound. My husband said it was their AC. It was annoying me since I am sensitive to sound. We picked a table away from the cash register where the thumping sound was coming from. We ordered: Lao Sausage 3 1/2 Stars, Good, but small Beef Salad 4 Stars, needed more lime juice, too sweet Drunken Noodles 5 Stars, Excellent Mango Fish 3 Stars, sauce too sweet, skinny fish (hardly meat) Service was good. I had to flag down the servers to refill our waters several times.

My little plate:chicken satay, rice, beef & broccoli

Stopped by for a quick lunch as we await for the car to be ready for pickup. We shared the Chicken Satay with a tasty sauce, Beef and Broccoli with a dish of rice. My dining buddy had the Thai ice tea . We were full and sassy! Glad to make the impromptu stop and will be revisiting soon to try other dishes real soon. Service was punctual, food came out hot and quickly delivered to our table. The two servers check in on us from time to time.

Every single dish was a BANGER. Not to mention the service was impeccable and hospitality was 10/10. I will 10000% be coming back.

My best friend and I like to have monthly girls' night dinners and this has become the restaurant of choice. We like the clean, chic, intimate feel and the the traditional Thai menu. We always open with shrimp spring rolls and then our usual main dish picks: Drunken noodle for me and Chicken yellow curry for her. Last time, I got the fresh and light papaya salad. The portion was so large I was able to pack up some to go. I know there have been some notes about service: I have always found them polite, prompt, and helpful. I asked for medium spicy on my salad and our server said mild spicy would be sufficient. I'm a chili enthusiast and she was right. The salad had quite a kick. I will absolutely be back. Friday night dinner is the besties' version of Sunday brunch.

SL KITCHEN IS AMAZING! Service is always good the ladies are always smiling and being accommodating. We come here almost every 2 weeks now , the food is always hot and fresh they haven't disappointed us at all. Small and intimate for either dates , family gathering or catching up with friends! A friend told me about this spot and I finally made my way out to the East Bay for a try, and I'm glad I did! They offered Thai and Laos dishes and everything I tried tasted pretty authentic. We got the drunken noodle with prawns, Thai money bags, Thai waterfall beef salad, and of course Thai tea for lunch and finished it off with some friend bananas with strawberry ice cream and mango and sticky rice for dessert. Everything was really good and I def will be going back soon to try other dishes!

Came here for dinner with some friends. Location is off of 580 highway with street parking in front of restaurant. Their food lacking in taste, quality and portion. For the pricing, we expect to be more in portion size. We ordered curry sauce w/roti, seafood curry, TomYum soup, sour coconut soup, pad Thai w/tofu, eggplant w/tofu, fried chicken wings, and SL Kitchen sampler. Any time you add protein, it's additional cost. Overall, service was excellent but disappointed in the quality and portion of the food. Don't think we will come back.

Come here for the food, but don't expect much when it comes to service, which is next to non-existent. I've been here twice now, once for a weeknight dinner and once for a Sunday lunch. Both times, service has been limited to a cool greeting, being seated, having our order taken, and our food dropped off. Both times, the waitresses disappeared for the rest of the meal and flagging them down was an act of patience and determination, as they'd almost intentionally not make eye contact with anyone while rushing around the restaurant. It's bad enough for me to knock off a star. As for the food, it's unbelievably delicious. From the green curry to the panang curry, from the crispy spring rolls to the money bags, fried chicken over fried rice, and pad ka po, nearly everything here has been simply delicious. The only dish I didn't enjoy was the papaya salad, which was *really* heavy on the fish sauce and very unpleasant to eat. Otherwise, everything else is on the "would order again" list. Spice levels are no joke here. I love my spicy food but have to tone it down at SL Kitchen; I usually get the medium spice, which is plenty enough heat without causing discomfort and killing most of the flavors of your dish. SL Kitchen is a bit pricey, but I've come home with leftovers both times so I've at least gotten a couple meals out of each visit. You won't leave here hungry. Highly recommend for the food, but don't come here if you're on a tight schedule or don't like sitting around waiting. (There may be a reason why this place is so popular for takeout...) The restaurant at least has a nice interior, which makes for nice ambiance while eating and trying to flag down someone for a drink refill or the check.

My husband and I decided to try this place for lunch on a Saturday. The food here doesn't have much flavor but looks good. We asked for medium spicy and there was no spice at all. The Thai tea tastes spoiled and I was told I couldn't exchange it for a coke even though I did drink it. The amount of food you get is not worth the price. The service really needs a lot of work. The ladies looked like they were not happy to be at work. No smile and definitely didn't feel like they value their customers. Ambiance was decent for the location. We will not return as service, flavor and value is lacking for this restaurant.

My partner and I usually come for the basic comfort items like Pad Thai, Pad Se Ew, Lao Sausage, and/or their sampler. Occasionally we'd get their papaya salad, Tom Yum soup, or other entrees to share, but I do feel that they don't execute those dishes as well as the basics we frequently return for. I may be critiquing them harder than others on their papaya salad and Nam Khao because my mom does it best (no bias...). However, their portions are large and the flavors are great all around. I think they do some items better than others, but I have yet to be disappointed by any of their food. It's always great to try something new on the menu and be pleasantly surprised. But aside from the food, the customer service and ambiance encourages us to come back every time. They're kind, patient, and attentive all around. Whether we're just picking up food, dining in at peak times or during the quiet hours, they always deliver a great experience. Their dining room is fairly large and they have a softer lighting that compliments that TLC decor well. Through and through, Chai Thai is consistent and reliable.

Integrated into downtown Hayward just a block from the theater and other eateries and drink spots, Khao Hom has made a strong impression in the local community drawing a good following for weekend brunch as well as weekday lunch. With street parking right in front as well as sharing free public parking in the lot behind the restaurant, once you've slogged through traffic to get to this area, you'll be able to easily park and venture in for your food experience. As you enter, you'll likely need to wait for one of their staff members to seat you in one of their two dining spaces. The rooms are well lit and enhance the ambiance of your meal (and photos) with natural lighting. When seated, you'll get their food and drinks menu in addition to finding their dessert menu at the table. As standard, each table gets a carafe of water for you to serve yourselves. Their menu is quite extensive in representing popular Thai flavors with a bit of flare. You'll find curries, soups, noodles and chef specialties in their own sections of the menu. They also have some alcohol infused drinks for those looking for a full brunch experience. As a novice to some Thai dishes, I did have to ask the staff to explain a bit about certain dishes, but there were a few that caught my eye and never let go. Thai tea - flavorful and bold; rich but not too sweet Matcha latte - rich matcha flavor and creamy; best sipped and can be packed in a to-go cup if you don't finish Tom yum crab omelet - beautifully crafted omurice-esque dish where you'll find white rice encased in an egg omelet topped with succulent pieces of crab meat and smothered in tom yum soup. This dish is not only a pleasure to look at but the taste and textures in each bite will have you salivating for more until the dish completely disappears. This unique take is a must get for first timers! Roti gai tod - crispy fried yet succulent chicken served with a small serving of creamy yellow curry, white rice, and a roti alongside their delicious chili sauce. Fantastic balance of textures and flavors will have your tongue dancing from the spices. Tom kha soup - a bowl of comfort with a whole lot of shredded chicken, red onions, and mushrooms with a few big quarters of fresh tomatoes. It's not as creamy as I would like but the flavor is there with its abundance in lemongrass. The portion is large as one order can easily split into two bowls. Fried ice cream - a meal topper and sweet indulgence for those looking to try something new and rarely found elsewhere. This giant meteorite of a breaded and fried ball of vanilla ice cream is topped with chocolate fudge, powdered sugar, a generous helping of whipped cream and plenty of fruit (strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, grapes, and cantaloupe). Definitely shareable and a surprising star of their dessert menu - they could definitely do more to advertise this! The staff were super friendly and quick to take dirty dishes out of the way. They kept the place clean, served the food promptly and treated all of their customers with respect and smiles. Top notch crew from the front of the house to the back. Furthermore, should you need the restrooms, they do have two gender neutral rooms that were decently maintained. Overall, Khao Hom is not your everyday Thai restaurant nor is it your run of the mill brunch spot - this is a unique experience with food created out of passion to merge these together. The result is an aesthetically pleasing yet hunger extinguishing meal that will have you discovering new flavors and craving for more. With its proximity to the city center, it's a great a spot to plan out a lunch or brunch before a nice stroll around or a movie. Thai food has never looked and tasted so good!

There were so many layers of flavors and textures from the fish sauce, the peanuts, and the fermented sour pork. If there's one dish you must order when you stop by here, it's this one. Another dish I really enjoyed was the Sai Oua; I get this dish whenever I see it at restaurants. We met the owner and head chef, Kanlaya, who was very friendly. I could see her passion for Lao cuisine and her desire for guests to enjoy it. FOOD We were pretty excited so ordered quite a few items to try -- we definitely had leftovers. Everything was DELISH. * Pandan Green Tea -- delicious! * SAI QUA (Lao sausage) -- made fresh. Meaty and herbaceous. It was grilled and charred. Yum! * THU LITH'S FAMOUS SAIKOO --My friend was waiting to try this, which was the main reason we chose Lao Garden. It was excellent. Under "Wraps," these are steamed tapioca balls filled with pork. The tapioca balls were fresh, soft, and chewy, while the pork filling was well-seasoned and balanced. It was served with lettuce, mint, and parsley. * MOK PA -- Steamed catfish with lemongrass, dill, onions, and wrapped in banana leaves. A favorite of mine! Light and aromatic. It was served with steamed veggie medley and jeow mak len (tomato dipping sauce with various spices). * EGGPLANT PRAWNS -- Seasoned and tasty. Eggplant and prawns cooked to perfection. Since it was lunch, there was a special for this entree. * FRIED CHICKEN WINGS w/ PAPAYA SALAD -- This was also a lunch special served with sticky rice. We were chatting with the owner, and she was kind enough to change it to Lao style, which is more pungent with the umami from fermented fish sauce. The wings were crispy, and the papaya salad was well-balanced and tasty. Discovering Lao Garden was a fantastic experience, and we truly enjoyed their delicious dishes. The crunchy, chewy texture was on-point and they were generous with the naem, fermented pork sausage....but it was oddly bland, like they forgot to dress it with the spicy, punchy acidic dressing. * Thu Lith's Famous Saikoo: Steamed tapioca balls w/ ground pork, sweet radishes, shallots ($25): https://tinyurl.com/5n8xnhsz Saikoo is hard to find so this was a must order on our visit. The saikoo had a nice bouncy QQ chew and is filled with a ground pork mixture. Flavor leaned sweet. If you like Viet bánh bột lọc, this will be your jam. * Mok Pa: Steamed catfish w/ lemongrass, green onions, dill, steamed vegetables, jeow mak len ($22): https://tinyurl.com/yxrvnxjb The catfish was flaky and moist but the flavor was one note: earthy. I wished they used more fish sauce and aromatics (i.e. lemongrass and galangal) for citrusy umami. Served with steamed veggies with a traditional Laotian spicy roasted tomato dip that was not spicy at all. * Grilled Rack of Lamb (3 pc-$32): https://tinyurl.com/57hstz93 - Requested medium rare A touch overcooked but the marbled lamb was forgiving, it was still very tender with a great smoky char from the grill. Served with nam jim jaew that felt diluted as it was missing the bold spicy, tangy, salty, and slightly sweet flavors. * Sticky Rice ($8) Aside from the incredibly steep price for a single serving, they brought this with the apps so by the time our entrees arrived, the sticky rice had cooled and hardened. S E R V I C E Friendly and earnest. We had to flag them down for things but understandable since we were the only ones in the patio. We arrived for an early dinner and were the only customers at the time so it was surprising food service was slow with entrees taking 45+ minutes. A M B I A N C E Spacious and vibrant with faux greenery and flower walls. The back patio is partially covered. P A R K I N G They have a private parking lot in back but can easily be missed; take a right after April Rose Provisions. Overall, I had high hopes for Lao Garden but the flavors were far too mild for my personal taste. When I have Laotian food, I want to be punched in the face with funk, citrus/acid, and heat. Off day?

They have a lot of inside seating and its clean. Our waiter recommended a few of his favorites, and honestly, he did not miss. The chicken curry puffs and the sizzling basil rice were standouts. It was my first time trying them, and now I'm hooked. I'd definitely come back just for those.

We started with the Laos-style Papaya Salad, a salty, spicy, pungent combination of shredded papaya, carrots, tomatoes, green beans, and Thai eggplant mixed with a chili garlic lime dressing and salted crab. From the specials menu, the Khao Soi was a noodle soup made of egg noodles in a creamy coconut curry broth, topped with crispy fried noodles, red onions, lime, and pickled mustard greens, served with a choice of protein (I got the tender boneless chicken thigh). Next, the Fried Chicken and Roti was a huge piece of fried chicken served on top of a thick, flaky, layered roti, along with a fried egg, yellow curry sauce, and cucumber salad. The most comical part of the dish was the fried chicken, which looked impressive, but was composed almost entirely of crunchy batter surrounding a thin layer of meat in the middle. Not sure whether I was disappointed or amused. The Grilled Coconut Salmon was a salmon fillet marinated in coconut milk, lemongrass, onion, curry paste, kaffir lime leaf, and basil, then wrapped and grilled in a banana leaf. The flavorful, aromatic, tender salmon was served with jasmine rice, steamed vegetables, and a strong chili garlic sauce on the side. Finally, the dish I was most excited about trying was the Khan Toke, a huge platter with a ton of different items for sharing. The vegan version came with hung lay curry with vegan meatballs, jackfruit salad (my favorite component), tofu stir-fried with pineapple, nam prik noom (green chili dip), deep-fried puffs filled with curry potato, puffs filled with taro paste, fried tofu, fried tofu skin, fried vegan meat, mixed vegetables with coconut milk (including greens, eggplant, pumpkin), and sticky rice. While the platter definitely looked colorful and impressive, most of the items were disappointingly bland or mediocre in flavor. This one dish was skippable, but everything else we ordered was delicious and came at a good value with friendly service too!
