The frustration in driving in a circle. The ambiance of the restaurant is basically a Hong Kong Cafe style. There are two areas catering small parties to big parties. The lighting is terrible though, the florescent lighting is just not for me. The food here is pretty good. They have a huge selection. Hayward doesn't have a lot of Asian catering restaurants that are cheap eats. Yeah, they opened a new banquet, but not a lot of fast, cheap foods. 1. Pork Congee with Thousand Year Old Egg - Typically very flavorful. I like to come grab a bowl when I'm not feeling well to cook. 2. Honey Walnut Shrimp - How can you go wrong? Such a western staple. 3. Pork Chow Fun - Large portion, reasonably priced, tasty enough. 4. Salt & Pepper Fish Fillet - Surprisingly one of my favorite things on the menu. Sharable portions, enough for maybe 2-4 people. 5. Salt & Pepper Prawns - Typically I would say standard, but I don't believe I enjoyed the prawns as much. 6. Mongolian Beef - Standard, soft, best with rice. 7. Salt & Pepper Pork Chops - I could live without this. 8. Combo Pan Fried Noodles - I love me a crispy noodle with gravy I can pour over because it leaves a good texture. 9. Chicken Fried Rice - Standard, sharable 10. Beef Brisket Noodle Soup - Tasty, boyfriend's favorite. Hate that adding wonton is literally $1 per piece and it's so tiny. 11. HK Milk Tea - Reasonable, but not very flavorful.. 12. Lemon Tea - Decent, probably our go to drink 13. Assam Milk Tea with Cheese Foam - Not worth it. The service is pretty standard, limited due to language barrier at times.

It's kind of pricey, especially compared to the original location in Oakland, but the food is authentic Hong Kong/Cantonese style cuisine. This will definitely satisfy your carb/MSG cravings, lol! We got takeout for a weekday lunch. This is our usual order now: Fresh sliced fish porridge, $14.95 - they always do a great job with this. This is the Cantonese equivalent of chicken noodle soup. The texture is just right, there are plenty of fish pieces, and the flavor is classic, right down to the ginger slivers. Shrimp rice noodle roll $9.50 - DH's favorite dim sum item. It is tender, and the shrimp are large and crispy. Comes with the classic soy-based sauce. Crab meat braised E - fu noodle $24.95 - DH's favorite noodle. This type of noodle is very soft and absorbs all of the flavors from the crab pieces and sauce. Great choice for seafood lovers! Shrimp silky egg chow fun $24.95 - little one's favorite. This one just has such a great combination of flavors. The velvety "gravy" really ties everything together and makes it go down smoothly. This one has flat noodles (cheung fun), like the classic beef chow fun. Comfort food for sure! Sautéed Chinese green $22.95 - this looks to be pan seared choy sum. Seems kind of expensive, but they actually pack a lot of greens into the box. They don't have the veggie clay pot anymore, Barbecue pork $15.95 - they do a pretty good job with this one too. The flavors are really good and interestingly enough it comes with these little beans on the bottom. Pork tends to be a little bit on the lean side. Portion size seems okay. We didn't get the beef chow fun because we didn't need that much food. But that one is a classic here and they usually do a great job with it too. Food is usually ready very quickly and everything was steaming hot. Staff are efficient and friendly. Give it a try; this place is consistently good and I highly recommend it!

The sauce was delicious, rich, and comforting without being overwhelming. Everything was cooked just right and came out piping hot. Hit or Miss: Hit. Definitely something I would come back for again. 3/5 Drink Ordered: Hong Kong Style Milk Tea It was okay. Nothing bad about it, but nothing super memorable either. Pretty standard flavor overall. Hit or Miss: Slight Hit. Would drink it again if I was already there, but not something I'd specifically crave. Additional Comment: Overall, pretty solid experience. Nothing was mind blowing, but everything was done well. The baked spaghetti was definitely the highlight for me and the service helped make the meal enjoyable. I'd come back mainly for the spaghetti and a comfortable casual meal.

Mainly for our toddler. Pickled mustard greens with pork noodles - you can select your noodles. This was basic but decent. Not as good as those you get a Taiwanese cafe. Baked Shrimp over rice with portuguese sauce - Tasted like curry to me. I rarely get the baked dishes because they tend to be a bit on the heavier side. My husband and in-laws like this. Upgraded this with soup and garlic bread - the soup had a sour aftertaste - I think this is from a can. The garlic bread was good! Chicken Katus w/ rice - Surprisingly good. My toddler loved it. Their milk tea was perfection (we had dim sum yesterday and the milk tea was watered down) Heavy on the MSG - I passed out. One unisex large and surprisingly nice bathroom. I would still come back.

We ordered the egg tofu with veggies, beef brisket, ham and egg fried rice, and the chicken with Chinese sausage clay pot. The beef brisket was the clear winner -- tender, flavorful, and they give you a generous portion. No tiny rationed pieces hiding in sauce. The overall flavor profile was balanced and comforting without feeling overloaded with MSG. The egg tofu was light and nicely seasoned, and the fried rice delivered that classic Hong Kong café vibe. The clay pot had great flavor too, though I personally prefer larger pieces of chicken with less bone. Just a texture preference -- seasoning was on point. Prices are reasonable, especially for the portion sizes. You leave full without feeling like you overpaid. Ambiance is casual and simple. One drawback during the summer: there were quite a few flies while we were dining. The doors were closed, so it was a bit puzzling and definitely distracting. Overall, good flavors, good portions, good prices. I'd come back -- especially for that brisket -- just hoping the fly situation improves during warmer months.

There was no pork in it, but obviously chicken. It is also by far the saltiest porridge I've had and it has no other flavor. The consistency was extremely thin, felt like I was slurping salt water. The century eggs didn't have much flavor, which was surprising. Ginger slices or even green onion toppings (like pictured in the menu) would improve the porridge. I would not come back for it, I'd rather get it from 99 ranch's hot deli section.

They used to accept only cash which made it inconvenient, but nowadays, they do accept credit cards as well. Love it. Excellent customer service too. I like the friendly and welcoming staffs here. Great first impression after so many years. Authentic Hong Kong foods. If you're coming from the South Bay Area, this place doesn't disappoint. We don't have very good Cantonese HK style cafes that serve good A/B/C/D/etc. breakfasts and most places are overpriced. Good value for good foods here. I paid $16 with taxes included for B-breakfast, so I left them $4 tips. $16 for everything was considered cheap! I had french fries/hash brown/two eggs/chicken steak/broccoli/carrot/etc. and comes with hot beverage of choice. Very fulfilling. Delicious foods with authentic drinks. Everything was generous in portions and delicious, so I ate the entire plate of foods along with my hot cup HK milk tea. No leftovers. Yummy! I'm really loving their big breakfasts now. I do miss all the good and affordable Hong Kong cafe foods. Having excellent service is a plus. Television was turned on with HK news. Loved the old interior vibes and beautiful foodie ads on the walls. There's lots of tables and chairs inside too. All positive. I'll be back.

While it's great that they are trying to bring it back to more of a restaurant, I'm disappointed while doing that, they've also changed the menu up. While it is still considered a Hong Kong Style Cafe, I preferred the original menu when they had first opened up, and now they've changed it. They added the baked rice dishes, and Hong Kong Style BBQ Meats and have gotten rid of the more previously offered Cantonese style dishes. Our most recent visit, we ordered the Hainan Chicken Rice Combo, Roast Duck Rice Plate and Beef Stew Wonton Noodle Soup. The rice places come with a drink, so that is a plus there. They weren't anything spectacular, same with the noodle soup we ordered. The customer service here was ok, the staff was nice, no complaints there. The ambiance is ok, it's kinda dark inside, and they have a little lamp at the table for lighting. Too dark in my opinion. Overall, I think they should add back the previous items they offered when they first opened, the menu items were better and more vast.
