They don't take card, only ZELLE. We got one bag of the Pork, Shrimp, & Chives 50pc for $24, didn't have cash so we had to Zelle. The guy was nice, one other lady hand stuffing the dumplings in the back. Pork, Shrimp, & Chives = 3.5/5 there was more chives than shrimp. Wrapper was nice thick and chewy. I think next time we will try the pork & shrimp instead. Might also change the stars rating to a 4 or a 5 but for now this my honest opinion.

Stopped by to see if I could grab a bag of dumplings. I remember my family talking about this store and how good it was. The store may seem closed but it's actually open (the door was locked when I tried it but staff immediately unlocked the door)! I ended up getting a 50-piece bag of pork & chive dumplings, as it's the flavor I'm most used to. Staff was super nice, telling me I needed to put the dumplings back in the freezer immediately, since it was freshly made. They also stated the dumplings would stay fresh (tastewise) for up to a month in the freezer. I definitely appreciated the tips and help! It was $21 for the bag, which can be pricey but definitely wanted to support a family favorite and local business. Will be back to try other dumplings!

Authentic chinese dumplings. I tried many places and Lai Young is the Best in bay area!

Delicious artisan dumplings! Lai Young is a tiny frozen dumpling shop located in a strip mall near Mt. Eden Park. It was buried in my bookmark list until I came across a recent review by another Yelper. Since I was running errands in the Hayward area on 01/30/2021, I decided to stop by to pick up a couple bags of frozen dumplings for dinner. I walked up at around 11:40 am and was greeted by the owner James. He was super polite and friendly. I ordered two 50-piece bags - one made with chicken ($17) and the other with pork, shrimp, and chive ($19.50). The total was $36.50. I had to wait a few minutes for them to assemble my order. James suggested I either call and text in the order next time to avoid the wait. I cooked the pork, shrimp, and chive ones for dinner that evening. They were ready to eat after 10-12 minutes of boiling. The dumpling skin was smooth and delicate and had the right thickness. The filling was outstanding. I could taste the freshness of the chives and shrimp. I had the chicken ones a few nights later. They were very good as well. This place hits all the marks for me - delicious offerings, friendly service, and fantastic value. I will be a regular from this point on. BONUS MATERIAL: - Cash and checks only.

Frozen dumplings only for takeout. Very great value and the dumplings are so tasty. You can call or text in advance, if you just show up, they may sell out for some items on the menu. The host is very polite and friendly. Will definitely come back to try other flavors.

The staff told her we wouldn't be seated unless our entire party was present. About 4 people were late, but they still seated us. The restaurant kind of felt old and somewhat dirty. But hey, it was my dad's birthday. I wasn't paying for lunch. We occupied three tables and ordered from both the lunch and dim sum menus. I enjoyed dishes like shiu mai, pork buns, walnut shrimp, fried rice, fish, and fried noodles. The sesame balls were tasty, but the service was slow, and I had to follow up on our order. I didn't care for the bun with the hot dog or the other noodle dish. Later that day, my daughter mentioned she had found hair in a pork bun and that her cousin had eaten it. She also said every item he picked up had hair on it, which was disappointing. I didn't confirm this with my cousin, but it would have been helpful to have someone inform the staff. Fortunately, no one at our table found hair in their food, which was a relief. Overall, the food that I ate was fine, but I wouldn't make a special trip from San Jose to visit again...unless it's a fambam family treat.

We ordered the sizzling rice soup, dry-fried string beans, garlic eggplant, garlic chicken, mao pao tofu, gindo piguot (not sure how to spell it in English), and crispy seafood noodles. Their gindo piguot (sweet and sour short rib I think) really stood out and we ended up ordering 2 of them. I didn't love their mao pao tofu (still tasted good, but didn't taste like the typical mao pao tofu). Overall, not sure why they have a low rating and would consider coming back if I'm in the area!

All dishes came out as we hoped/expected with both the chicken and fish providing the nummy sensation that is unique to Szechuan cuisine. We threw in the eggplant order because we wanted some veggies and something that didn't overtly threaten to numb our palettes and were very happy with that as well. Chicken was fried well and not dry at all which was a lovely experience. Fish was also flavorful and enjoyable to eat, although perhaps the least memorable of the dishes. I wouldn't NOT get any of the dishes again and might elevate the chicken as a must get if you're there for the a Szechuan experience. Well probably come back the next time we get a craving for that nummy feeling.

Our group was seated in one of their banquet rooms, which was spacious, beautifully decorated, and perfect for celebrating such a special occasion. The service was exceptional throughout the event. It was as we remembered, seasoned just right & flavorful. The dining hall itself is decorated beautiful. It has an upscale ambiance. The dining experience could have been better. Servers & restaurant staff were very serious. No pleasantries were expressed when we entered or when we were seated. No smiles on their faces. It felt like that they didn't want to be there! We confirmed by the response to our tea experience. We ordered Jasmine tea for 2. When it arrived in a heavy pot, we let it steep for 2 minutes before we poured it into cups. It was luke warm, slightly warmer than tap water & it tasted like water. We requested that it be replaced. It was taken away by our server with a frown on her face, no apologies. Another server later walked by & explained it would be a couple of minutes. When the pot returned, we put a timer for 3 minutes. Now it was hot, but not tea hot, but still lacking Jasmine flavor. By this time, none of the servers checked in on us about the tea. We finally called our server. She explained that the manager's instructions were to put 1 tsp of tea leaves. If we want it darker, we should steep it longer. We did. That didn't work. Still no tea flavor. She then offered to take it off our tab & walked away. She also informed us other patrons had liked the Jasmine tea. She seemed really angry that we brought the problem of the tea to their attention. For the rest of our dining time, no one approached us. We enjoyed the delicious food but put the tea aside. It wasn't replaced or fixed. It took a while to even get the check. Food is good. Interior design is good. Service needs major improvement.
