Overall good food and great selection, now you may ask why not give a higher rating? The service was subpar, it took quite some time for our server to come to our table to place our order and frequently having to wave him down with no check-ins. We asked for our check and after waiting for some time we went to the front to see if we can finally pay. Typically I have a lot of empathy however the restaurant just opened and it was fairly empty. The most disappointing part of this experience had to be that they had no changing table for babies, it's surprising that in 2026 we are allowing large restaurants to open without thinking of the children. Harumi is finally here in Hayward!! We've been waiting for them to open since seeing their signage. We arrived on a Sunday around 2 PM, and we were pleasantly surprised that there wasn't a wait. They remodeled the interior and it's really spacious with lots of seating. There was additional seating on the other side, but it wasn't available for customers because I think they are still doing their self opening. For weekends and holidays AYCE, it's $39.99, and Monday through Friday 11 AM until 3:30 PM AYCE, it's $26.99 (sashimi, sushi appetizer and short ribs are not included). We ordered sashimi, sushi appetizer, baked salmon and scallop rolls, and even short ribs. Glad it was all you can eat because every order was missing an item or two. I think it would be much easier if we can order ourselves using a tablet of some sort. Quality of the items were pretty fresh and tasty. I was a bit annoyed when our waiter kept asking us if we wanted to place our last order when it wasn't even an hour in. I was getting pretty full at the point but it should be up to the customer to decide when they're officially done eating. They still have to work some kinks out since they recently opened. I did enjoy their salad bar, especially their squid salad and seaweed salad. Their fruit selection was great too! Dare I say the best quality AYCE sushi I've had in NorCal? :0 The fish is high quality, thinly cut, and perfectly seared. Would go with a group of 4 to try more items. - Sashimi are bite size, but I like that since I can try a variety. Because the service was fast, it was fine. However, I can see that being a downside if the service is slow. - Seared salmon nigiri, tasty, but very oily. Could only have a few at a time. - Sunrise roll was good. - I didn't care for angry roll. Something about the flavoring, sauce threw me off. - Short ribs. So tasty! Moist! For $39.99 for AYCE dinner for adults, Harumi is honestly pretty good in terms of quality and value. This is their second location in the Bay Area and I regularly visit the Livermore location. The only thing missing from this menu compared to the Livermore menu, is the truffle jalapeño nigiri, but other than that, the menu is pretty much identical. We've been waiting for Harumi Sushi & Hibachi to open in Hayward for months, and we're so happy it's finally here! We used to go to the Livermore location, so we were already familiar with the food and service. We were pleasantly surprised to see that many of the staff here in Hayward transferred from the Livermore location. They are experienced, friendly, and provide exceptional customer service. From the moment we walked in, we felt very welcomed. This was our first time at the Hayward location, and the food was just as great as usual. Checked out the AYCE at Harumi. Got there in time for the lunch special which is the same as the dinner except for the sashimi, sushi appetizer, and short rib. Despite there being a lot of people, once we sat down we were served very quickly! Even the baked sushi rolls we got that says it takes 20 minutes arrived a lot sooner. We got the volcano role, black dragon roll, and and baked scallop rolls. All good. We also got takoyaki, which had the dough a bit undercooked but had a good amount of octopus. Got the baked oysters, tempura, chicken karaage (which tasted like Popeyes chicken), hand rolls, nigiri, and the hibachi of steak and shrimp. The server was very nice and gave us good recommendations. If you decide to come the next few days, be patient with being served. They're still in their soft opening phase and won't have their official opening until a few weeks from now. read more

Just had an early lunch at Harumi. Place is nicely spaced out. Vibe is modern and of course the furniture is going to look new. There were about six tables, including myself, so it was not too busy by the looks of it. Couple of great things: 1. The price for AYCE for lunch was roughly below $30 after tax. 2. You have unlimited sushi rolls, nigiri rolls, and hand rolls. Some of the things that need (major) improvements. 1. Service needs to be more alert/attentive for those that are ordering items. It took more than a few moments for a waiter to step in to place an order. If this were peak hours, there's going to be a lot of bottlenecks in terms of orders coming in. Because if waiters were missing items in between orders during slow hours. I cannot imagine the type of service a busy service is going to look like. 2. Ordering structure - If you're doing AYCE (for lunch) by yourself. You're limited at a time to, 3 pcs of nigiri and 3 hand rolls/sushi rolls. As someone who eats nigiri above anything else, I'd rather take 6 pcs of nigiri per order. They seem to have a strict rule about the order policy, and it can eat up 5-7 minutes to receive only 3 pcs at a time. It's probably how they get folks out of here without eating up too much cost. 3. Quality - It's an AYCE so I wasn't expecting too much since it's Sysco or US Foods level of product quality. Just be mindful when pouring the soy sauce onto your sushi, the design of the dispenser makes a mess from the side. Overall, this place is new and I know it will improve its process over time. It's best for those where you're not on a time crunch as the speed of service is slow. I hope they can improve upon servicing and ordering so there's more flexibility in choice so it can decrease drag times. Other than that, I will be back later this year. read more

I was excited to see this would be opening just down the street from my work. We had a chance this weekend to try them out. We are big fans of their Livermore location, so we headed over for a late lunch/early dinner. First impression: we like what they did with the remodel. Light colors, well-lit, clean. The restaurant wasn't busy, but it took awhile for someone to seat us. Our waiter had several tables so it took a little bit for him to get to us. But he checked in with us regularly and we got our food pretty quickly. Having been to the other location several times, we had expectations about the food. It wasn't bad, but the quality wasn't as good. The fish was a little dry and the rice was hard. The hot apps were good, but the meal items (teppanyaki, curry, etc.) took a long time and lacked flavor. It was an okay meal, although I can't remember anything standing out. I think next time we're jonesing for AYCE sushi, we'll go out to Livermore or another restaurant before going back here. read more
