My birthday dinner to myself, fried crab legs, it was delicious and served piping hot. My sister got catfish but said it tastes like Basa.

The food was delicious. Great seasoning and the service was kind. There was not a lot of people eating there mainly togos. We did find a hair in our food but it is what it is. Id try it again.

The hard boiled eggs were overly cooked. The sauce was too thick ordered the lemon pepper hot. It was not no flavor of lemon pepper or it was in hot. The shrimp was OK but once I got home, started feeling funny. I threw everything up. They gave me a whole horrible food poisoning.

If you haven't been, you must give them a try. My goto spot for fried seafood is here. They have some of the best fried crab/fried prawns this side of the Bay I'd say. You can choose between lemon pepper, mild and spicy seasoning/breading...I ALWAYS go for lemon pepper & it's soooooo good! The fries are a side car to everything else, but the flavor and crisp to the fries is not to be overlooked. Flavor & seasoning is key at this place and they don't disappoint. They aren't on the low end price wise, but well worth it for sure. Cheers & Crab legs!!!!!!

I've known about this place for a while, but because of its location, I never had the chance to try it. Tonight we chose it to celebrate a friend's birthday. The dishes flavors were great and the seafood was very fresh, except for the head-on shrimp. The owner was very warm and friendly, and when she found out it was my friend's birthday, she even treated us to a plate of fried garlic noodles. The indoor seating area is on the small side, but it's clean. Dishes like this would still taste great as takeout, so next time I'll probably order to go.

Honestly I was sure what to expect when coming here I just thought shrimp and shrimp is always good right? I was wrong. We came as a family and asked what was recommended by the server she said the most expensive family combo meal on the menu so we got that and she said what flavors did we want and we said uhm just whatever isn't spicy, and she asked what sides we wanted and we said corn and potatoes. We also asked for headless shrimp, assuming that meant like clean peeled shrimp without heads. Then our drinks came out and only one had a lid on it with a straw, weird. And then the food came out literally all together in one plastic bag. I was willing to entertain it until I tried a piece of the whole potato in the bag aka one of the sides ordered and it was so SPICY IT MADE ME TEAR UP AND START COUGHING. My 1 1/2 year old refused to eat it either. And there I sat completely disappointed in the whole experience. I asked specifically that this isn't spicy at all right and the server assured me it wasn't. And the other side CORN we ordered was 4 corn cobs in the bag because we had four people in our party, COVERED in spicy seasonings. As for the shrimp, they literally just cut the heads off and left the legs and shells on them and the vein of poop in them was large! For me this wasn't very nice place to go to. They also made us pay for the meal upfront as soon as we ordered and I strongly feel like $200 was not worth this experience.

Good seafood lunch specials M-F. The regular menu is available too. Staff is attentive and helpful. Tables are clean and comfortable. Stop by and see for yourself.

The service was extremely disappointing. I went in around 12:14 PM on Saturday, and the staff did not greet me or acknowledge me at all. I had to walk up to the front desk myself and ask for a table while the employee was just sitting and looking at her phone. After I was seated, I waited about 20 minutes, but no one brought water or came to check on me. I had to call the staff myself just to place my order. When the food finally came, it was seafood, but they did not provide any utensils or anything I needed to eat properly. I looked over several times, but the staff continued chatting with each other and ignored me for another 10 minutes. The whole experience made me feel completely unwelcome and ignored. The staff did not seem to care at all from the moment I walked in until the end. I was very frustrated and disappointed. I would give 0 stars if that were possible.

King Crab to go
Christina R.

I've been ordering takeout from here for the past year, and the food has generally been good. My husband and I order at least once a week, as it's his go-to cheat meal. However, the last two times we've ordered, the crab has been inedible. It had a strange smell and an unpleasant taste that made it impossible to eat. We initially gave them the benefit of the doubt, thinking it might have been because we ordered close to closing time, but that still doesn't justify serving old crab. Tonight, we decided to give them another chance, but unfortunately, the king crab was once again bad. You can see in the picture that it wasn't fresh, with an off texture. Additionally, the clam chowder tasted watered down, as if they had stretched it to make it last longer. We were really disappointed and ended up having to throw everything out except the shrimp. It's unfortunate, but this was the last straw for us. We won't be supporting a business that consistently fails in quality control -- especially when it comes to seafood!

Easy to order... food was tasty but a bit expensive. Next time I'll likely try the fried crab legs. The boiled with the sauce was messy.

Can someone share the lastest weekday deals?

Hi, Does this place serve Fried Catfish?

Yes

How many pounds of shrimp is in a tray if I were to order for catering?

Are they open during these time?

Yup!

What's the new phone number because the one listed doesn't even work?

The one on Maps works. It took forever for them to answer though. And sometimes you only hear the busy signal.…

What is the lunch special ?what's included?

The items you pick, corn Cobb, some sausage, a few potatoes, and a drink

Do they have Jumbalaya?

Don't think so

Why is the yelp menu prices higher than the menu pictures for eg: is combo one $31 or $37?

Combo prices may increase or decrease as the seafood seasons change. During crab season the prices are much lower.

How much is it for 2lb of king crab legs?

They serve 3 different kinds of crab. King, Snow and Dungeness. The price changes depending on the market and season. Right now (12/4/18) none of the crab is over $25 per lb.

Are the shrimp from Louisiana (wild) or from a fetid swamp in Vietnam? In other words, is this place…

Legit

Any good options for those with allergies to gluten?

Yes, most of what they serve is fish.

As we came in, we were greeted and seated immediately. We ordered a dozen raw oysters with hot sauce. We loved every bite of it, and it's fresh! I ordered Combo #1 with 1lb of clams and 1lb of mussels, medium spice, and Atomic sauce. This bag comes with 2 corns, 2 potatoes, and 4 sausage slices. A robot will deliver the order, and the waiter will give it to you, and before that, they will shake the bag for you, which I thought was very nice! There was about a 20-minute wait before we were seated. We ordered wings, fries, garlic noodles, and our seafood bags. Some of the food came after our seafood bags, which was frustrating. I ordered Combo 2 with snow crab and 3/4 lb of head-off shrimp, potatoes, and sausage. I specifically chose no-spicy seasoning, but my bag was still spicy. There also wasn't much sauce, and what was there was too thin. The other person who ordered a seafood bag agreed that the sauce wasn't thick enough. I was honestly very disappointed with my seafood bag. The potatoes were served whole in the bag, and I only ate maybe 2 or 3 pieces of sausage and I can tell the corn is frozen prior to cooking. It's very mushy. I spent around $65 total on the bag, fries, steamed rice, and can soda. And I honestly felt like it was a waste of money. For $65, I expected the food and overall experience to be much better. The wings, garlic noodles, and fries were good, so those were definitely the highlights. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not compare to my experience at the Berkeley location. Another downside is that the drinks are bottled or canned, so there are no refills. Service could have been better as well. And honestly, the first red flag was the bathroom. It was horrible and made a bad first impression before we were even seated. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this location. I expected much more, especially after having such a great experience at the Berkeley location.

I'm writing this review to share for those exploring…read moreAlameda Island that Southern Comfort Kitchen has a few locations throughout the East Bay (and many may know this restaurant for its food truck), but they now has a new(er) location in Alameda. As a parent, I never knew how much I would appreciate a drive-thru at spots like Walgreens, Starbucks, and now, an actual restaurant! It's the little things sometimes that really help to take the heavy lift off, while giving back the flexibility and energy to the driver :) While I can't speak for the interior of the restaurant, we did roll through the drive-thru to test it out over the weekend while exploring Alameda and all of its charm. On a Saturday evening it seemed like they were pretty swamped, and no one was responding at the drive-thru window so we figured maybe it was closed. We pulled up and my husband got out of the car to confirm before we pulled away with a worker inside the restaurant and they apologized. Almost immediately someone came to the window and gave us printed menus because we had already passed the digital menu part of the drive-thru. We ordered hush puppies, a fried shrimp po' boy sandwich, mac n' cheese, and bread pudding. Oh wee, we had a feast when we arrived home and reheated everything! I think they may still be working out some kinks, but I'm open to trying the drive-thru again next time we're in town post brewery fun. A drive-thru in the East Bay for Cajun bites? Very cool! I've explored their menu before and wow, that bread pudding! Special. Would go back for that alone to try it hot from the oven!

The Owner/Manager Han reached out almost immediately, apologized for the experience then offered a refund or the opportunity for me to come in person for a Do-over. I really wanted to try the food at its best, appreciated the invite so I decided I would go to the establishment and give it another chance. I'm glad I decided to give them another chance as it was a great experience with customer service & the food was delicious! Good seafood isn't always easy to find, but they have it here. I came a week after I'd first had the food here & was told to reach out to the Manager (Pan) when I arrived. Everyone was really nice/personable here and I was seated immediately. I ordered everything I got the first time (2 shrimp baskets, Fried Okra, The red beans/rice with Turkey, but not the cornbread), and also ordered two more items. In addition to my original order I ordered the chicken strip meal and crab fried fries. The shrimp was fried/seasoned to perfection, The crab fries were hella good, the Okra was fried perfectly, and the Chicken strips were well made. The only item I wasn't a fan of was the Red beans/Rice W/Turkey...there was a strong taste of liquid smoke or some overpowering flavor where I couldn't taste the food well. I ordered an IPA, House Margarita and 2 Expresso martinis. I don't believe the martinis were on the menu, but they made them for me anyways. The Martinis were made with good will, but weren't winners...overall this was a great experience with good food and I would return in person, especially for their bottomless Mimosa brunch. My original order was comped, but I insisted on paying for the additional items/drinks one way or another and did so. I appreciate the offer to let me try any & all things at no additional cost, but the service/effort to make things right was so great here I couldn't let it go unnoticed. Cheers all around for my in person experience here. I will be back for sure.

I was looking forward to trying Backyard Bayou, but unfortunately my experience never made it past…read morethe waiting area. My party arrived around 6:38 PM and added our name to the waitlist for dinner. While waiting, it became increasingly clear that more than half of the dining room had already finished their meals. Many tables appeared to be staying simply to watch the soccer match on the TVs. I completely understand wanting to enjoy the game, but at the same time there were 4-5 parties waiting for tables, with groups of various sizes. This raises an important question: at what point does management step in to balance hospitality with serving waiting guests? While no one should be rushed through their meal, when tables have clearly finished dining and a long wait is building, there should be some effort to manage table turnover during peak dinner hours. After waiting about 45 minutes with no indication that seating would happen anytime soon, we decided to leave and eat elsewhere. Ironically, we didn't receive the text that our table was ready until 8:07 PM--nearly an hour and a half after we first checked in. The food may be great, but based on this experience, the waitlist management left a lot to be desired. I hope Backyard Bayou reviews how they handle busy nights and finds a better balance between accommodating guests who want to linger and serving the many customers waiting to dine.

It took about half an hour in line just to reach the counter but we made it right before the cut off time at 9:00 pm. Anyways, I ordered the small Gumbo and the BBQ Rib Plate with beans, cajun rice, and a dinner roll. The gumbo was the best gumbo I have ever tasted. I've had a lot of gumbo, and this one takes the top. It has a little kick to it and they put 1/4th of a crab in there. I was enjoying the gumbo so much, I forgot I have ordered the rib plate. I almost didn't order this because I didn't want to get my hands dirty at an event where there are no tables, but I'm glad I ignored my original thought. These were sooooo good. The canjun rice was on point, the beans were bomb, and the roll was, well, store bought. But that didn't matter. The other 3 components were freaking amazing. The BBQ sauce wasn't overpowering, the ribs were cooked perfectly, and the rice was just amazing. I don't know what they put in this rice, but it was crack. This whole plate gave me an orgasm. And the gumbo was another one. After I finished everything, yes everything (5 ribs, rice, beans, bread roll, 16 oz gumbo, and a Dr Pepper), I had no way to clean my face. BUT, these people are so freaking awesome, they put out a little portable sink with soap where you can pump up the water to wash your hands. This made the experience even better!
