Omg! I never thought i'd have such a good experience at a food court! The cashier was SO nice. He was so helpful and cheery. The wait wasn't long, it was maybe 10 minutes but everything was hot and fresh. We only tried the pupusas but they were phenomenal. My only issue was that the lady making them was a little mean. While picking up my order, I asked her a question, she just stared and then ignored it. I asked her in Spanish as well! So def no language barrier. She understood everything else I had said before that during the pickup. I felt awkward asking again, so I just left it. read more

Ordered 5 popusas , the guys does ask you in the front if you want the popusas on different plates , I sure did tell him I wanted 3 on one and the other 2 on the other, well on the one with 3 I was going to to share with my daughter so I asked for a separate plate , asked the lady for a separate plate , had a bunch of attitude told me to ask the cashier , same thing with him had so much attitude and told me " well that's why I asked you if you wanted your popusas in separate plates " I don't understand what was the issue though , do they charge for the plates ? I'm confused? And I still afford to pay pay for the extra plate , and still did not want to give me one . read more

The customer service was extremely horrible. I accidentally ordered my food on one plate, so I asked if I could get two more plates. The lady said I could only get one more. Like seriously? One plate won't make them any richer... When we didn't finish our food, I asked for a to-go box like at any other place. They said they couldn't give me a box since I had ordered my food to eat there. This may seem like minimal complaint, but both were very disrespectful and made me feel discriminated. The owner is who refuses to provide the proper customer service. Other reviews have confirmed this too. I usually order my pupusas to go, so I I have minimal interaction with the workers, but it's also not the first time that they try to provide the bare minimum service. Never going back again. read more

Honestly, the worst service I've ever received! It was a really disappointing experience. We waited a long time for our food, and when it finally arrived they refused to provide an additional plate. They acted like it was a problem instead of simply helping. The staff didn't seem attentive, and we had to keep asking for basic things. This experience felt frustrating and unwelcoming. Instead of enjoying my food with my family, I ended up having a really bad time, and the price was very elevated for the quality of their food. Good customer service can make a big difference, but unfortunately that wasn't the case here. I highly recommend you avoid this place. read more

Who would've thought that you could find authentic Salvadoran pupusas in a mall food court? I got this pan-fried cornmeal cake with a filling of beans and cheese, and the soft, gooey creation with a crispy exterior was topped with a sweet and tangy tomato salsa and curtido, a crunchy and spicy fermented cabbage slaw (my favorite part). The bright, fresh accompaniments cut through the savoriness of the pupusa, making for a well-balanced dish that came at a reasonable price! read more

This restaurant has been in the Southland food court for a long time. Nice little restaurant with good service. I thought I would try their pupusas for the first time. If you're in a hurry this might not be the place for you. Not many employees and they stay busy especially making pupusas. Being that the masa takes awhile to cook you might wait awhile. On this day I ordered two pupusas revueltas to go and only waited about 15 minutes. I advised the cook that they were to go and she asked the cashier if I had ordered them to go which I thought was kind of rude. He told her yes and she scolded him by saying you have to let me know. I just thought it was unprofessional because all she had to do was put a piece of foil over it. The pupusa was ok but the masa lacked salt or flavor. They were very skimpy on the meat. The Gentleman at the register was very kind and the restaurant clean, so I may try another dish next time I'm at the mall. read more

Rude asf. First red flag was when we were ordering and he was sighing at anything we said then when I told him the fountain soda tastes like soap he was rude and told me to stop spilling it instead of figuring out why it tastes bad. Then when I received my order, which I received in a paper plate(which is no problem), I asked the lady to give me extra 2 plates and she gave me hella attitude and said you didn't order three plates. These plates are from Costco it's costing you maybe 50 cents to give me an extra 2. Will definitely not be coming back. read more

The food is good but service is trash. The wait is so long. While I was waiting the lady told me that staring at my pupusas isn't gonna make it cook faster. Poor lady she looked and seemed mentally challenged by her job. But pls don't come here. read more

I'm not a snob, but typically I would not even think about writing a review for mall food court food. And even among malls, Southland is not the most prestigious, and probably is not a foodie destination. But, y'all. These pupusas are GOOD! Not "good for a food court", just GOOD. I got one bean and cheese, and one plain cheese. They let me know that it would be around 8 minutes. I believe in setting expectations properly. The prices are very affordable, too. The fries are the crinkle cut. Southland has my second favorite local movie theater, behind The New Parkway. And now it has my favorite pupusas. Solid winner for a low key night out. read more

Hubby and I was around the mall looking around and got hungry. We were already planning on going to get some crepes but had wanted to get some actual food in us. We decided to give Seafood Grill a try since we didn't want anything rice based or a burger. We weren't too sure what we wanted but saw that they had pupusas and tamales. We decided to go for that. The gentleman was very kind who took our order and you can see them cook the pupusas right in front of you. We got a pork pupusa with no cheese and some tamales. The pupusa was amazing! It was the first time I've had one and my goodness was it delicious! I would definitely go back for it again. The tamales was good as well, but at this moment, hands down the pupusas are my favorite. I would love to come back and try different ones from them as I see they have seafood pupusas as well. The staff was kind and friendly and we will definitely be back. read more

Today's visit here was absolutely the opposite of what I've experienced in the past. I actually liked the food and the service was decent, but not tah-day, not tah-day! I found food in my hair! As that wasn't unpleasant enough, I took the food back to see what my options were. The man who takes the order wasn't there so I told the lady who prepares the food. She seemed annoyed and kept screaming out his name. When he came to the front, he was denying that it was human hair, saying that it was "chicharon" and that it's hair from the pork. I told him I knew the difference between human hair and pork hair. He kept asking where it was and adjusted his glasses. Eventually, after arguing with me, he asked if I wanted my money back. He only refunded me for one pupusa, when there were clearly two on my plate. I didn't want to argue anymore because I lost my appetite and appeal. I understand that hair happens, but to try to justify it and get defensive is just blatant poor customer service. Needless to say, I don't have a "hair" of desire to return. read more

The guy working as cashier had a very rude nasty attitude not sure what his problem was!

Not too many pupuserias around. I was glad to run into this one. The food (pupusas) are made to order and cooked fresh in front of you. The people working are very pleasant. The restaurant is clean, there's lots of counter space to eat. . . We had the bean, cheese & pork pupuss, bean & cheese pupusa and the cheese & loroco pupusa. They were all delish! We also tried the seafood tamale, it was also good & they season the masa well. . . Will def come back to try out the other items. The Butterfly shrimps and chips look good! read more

I came by to pick up food during Covid since it recently opened back up. I use to eat there all the time before Covid too. I felt safe because they had the clear plastic between the cash register and myself. Mask are required of course and currently it is take out only. I got the pupusas and I never regret buying it because they're so delicious and fresh. Sometimes I order the shrimp and fries, they're super crunchy. You can also still stick around to see the pupusa ladies make it for you!! read more

the service was a bad experience, but the food was good except for the tamale because it tasted really dry.

Mal servicio y recibí comida equivocada demasiado cocida. No lo recomiendo si estomago sensible.

Customer service was nonexistent. I walked up and he was watching a soccer game on the tv. He acted like I was a complete bother. There's no menu so I had to ask him what kind of pupusas they had. He was annoyed that I had the nerve to ask him. I've been wanting pupusas for awhile so I ignored his rudeness and still ordered. They make the food fresh and in front of you so I appreciated that. There was another guy there and they were extremely friendly to him. I'm giving two stars for the food because it was very good. Don't know if I would go again. Maybe if there's not a soccer game playing the service is better. read more

Seafood Grill must be driving their neighbors nuts. best selling items here are pupusas and tamales. more latin entrees here than seafood ones. eats: popcorn shrimp (5.95) fried small shrimp with garlic mustard dip, potao salad. -potato salad the typical refrigerated kind. didn;t wait it for to thaw. tasteless when ate. -popcorn shrimp had a nice crumb from thick crust. garlic sauce yummy. takeouts; -tamales and pupusa items to order here. pricing similiar to b & M. -quick service., short wait. - read more

Totally not what I expected from a restaurant name like Seafood Grill. This place opened down in the Southland Mall food court. They have a variety of seafood appetizers, sandwhiches, and even Tamales and Pupusas! I ordered their Clam Chowder and let me tell you that it is San Francisco worthy! Sooooo good, 5 stars! My kids got Pupusas revueltas, and they were huge with plenty of curtido. I tried some, and too much chicharrones for my taste, but my 7 yr old didn't complain as she devoured two. This place is def a place to visit again. read more

Ok the food was good. They have alcohol which is unique for a food court restaurant. They have a tiny area to order food it didn't seem covid 19 friendly. They make the papusa's there. The menu is not posted clearly in the ordering area. They have a few posters of things to order. I drove to southland for this. Not worth it. If your at southland and are hungry I would recommend it. read more

Newly opened and located in the food court. We thought we'd give this place a try especially when I saw they were serving pupusas. $2.75 for a Bean, pork, and cheese pupusa. Freshly made and served with coleslaw. It was awesome! They also serve fresh fruit with tajin, chamoy and a tamarind stick. So good! Spoke to the owner and they've been open for the past 3 days. No credit card system in place just yet so it's cash only for now. Haven't tried the seafood yet but we will definitely be back! read more

The comments about rude customer service are true. I work in the mall so I come here a lot because one, it's affordable for me and two, it's a convenient spot to get food. The food is great, please do not get me wrong. However, there is one older man that works here that I order from every single time. He is extremely rude. I've worked in customer service all my life so I am kind to those having to work with customers a lot. I always have a smile on my face and order politely. When I give him my order he acts like I did something wrong to him and acts very snobbish. I've came here a lot trying to ignore it but my last order was my last straw. When I came to make a comment on my order, because it was made incorrectly, he was extremely rude and was blaming it on me. And I've seen him act towards customers like this too who have complained about their orders. No sympathy at all and I really was taken aback. Eventually he refunded the money for me but the way he acted was so rude. Great food, horrible service. read more

The wait is too long for fast food. The fish and chips are excellent! The pork tamale not so much. The macaroni salad was fresh. The owner seems like a lovely person, but they need one more person during the day. I would come back but not for tamales. read more

Go here if you want delicious pupusas! They are located in the food court at Southland mall, and the ladies make the pupusas fresh to order right in front of you. You can call in advance for pick up, they are very friendly over the phone and have your order ready at the time promised. Good prices on their food, though I have only tried their pupusas. They are all very tasty, but chicharron and bean & cheese are my favorite. They are bilingual, speak Spanish and English, and are very kind. If you are into supporting small businesses, give them a try. Not only will you be helping their business grow, you'll also get delicious food out of it. read more

You would never think that a Seafood restaurant tucked away at Southland mall would have some bomb pupusas, but this place has some of the best in the East Bay. My husband, kids & I were at the mall and went to the food court to have lunch. We came across this gem!! I am a San Francisco Native so I love the pictures on the wall, a shot of Simbad a well known restaurant & a shot of the pier. And to top it off they serve seafood, clam chowder & pupusas. I ordered 2 pupusas revueltas and they were pretty good. My husband got a fish sandwich and chips meal. I love that it was garnished with fruit on the side. I love Seafood Grill! They have a wide variety of authentic Mexican food. I've tried their tamales before, and I was extremely satisfied given the quality and quantity. I also love the French fries. The amount is unbelievably abundant, but I went back twice because I couldn't get enough of them. Their tamales and fries are $2.75 each including tax, so their prices are very affordable as well.
