I still come here once or twice a month, love their chicken soup. It is best around the area. I highly recommend you try it if you are craving chicken soup. You won't be disappointed. Steak tacos had great flavor and the steak was tender. The service here is great as well. They also have great seafood selection. I have tried a few, very fresh.
What is there to update? After 10 years everything is still the same!! Great decor, excellent service, same owner operator. This place will stand when the earth is reinventing itself itself
I LUUUUUUUV this place. I've been coming here for 20 years. Family owned and you're treated like family. Homemade tortillas, salsa, and chips Food is always fresh and the decor is beautiful. Plus a full bar. Every holiday they decorate for the occasion. Great vibes and food.
Party of 8 and the lady got 2 orders completely wrong. She still charged us for what we had originally ordered. In our Margaritas server claimed to have put Don Julio 70. Upon looking over she was actually putting Herradura Reposado. Still charged us the premium price. Not the same category of Tequila. Server claimed to have not charge us for certain food items, but upon looking at the receipt... she actually charged us more for other items. As to level out the cost. We were the only ones in the restaurant besides 2 other people. No reason to get orders wrong or scam us on the Tequila. We still tipped, but we will not be giving out business anymore.
Pretty classic Mexican spot. Huge menu with good food, tastes exactly like it should. Massive portions, friendly vibe. Great for the family.
My friend and I went for drinks - we had an amazing time! We went on a Saturday night and got to enjoy mariachi music. The staff were all extremely friendly and attentive. Parking is a bit challenging as there are only a few spots and street parking. Despite that I highly recommend trying this place out!

So they had to clean it before we sat down again. There was a basket of tortilla chips and fresh salsa, which was nice. Then there was getting our order, which took awhile and we had to wave someone down. I ordered the mole cheese enchiladas, which were really good, just like last time. But the last time, I ordered the chicken enchiladas and was disappointed with the chicken itself, which was dry and not really edible. The people I went with ordered burritos and they liked their food as well. Overall, everyone was happy with their food here, but logistically sometimes it can be hard to get someone's attention because they can be pretty busy. The food can also be questionable depending on what you get.

The original family has sold to another, and we were skeptical as most people would be of new ownership. We came in pretty early on a week night and were immediately greeted and walked to our booth. The decor is pretty much the same, and the booths are newer and cleaner. The new owner/manager was working on some lighting at that time. The menu is the same with lots of traditional Mexican faire. It was always good food and plentiful in the past. They have kept that alive! YAY. . . We both ordered the Texas chimichanga... word of warning... IT's gigantic! And, during the week they 'currently' have 2 for 1 cocktails. Not only are the cocktails potent, but also still reasonably priced. We were happy to see they have retained the charm of this little establishment that rocks the town. NOTE- park on the street as their lot is 'tricky' at best and there is never an open spot (only 5 spots).
Extremely disappointed with this experience. The food had little to no flavor--no salt, no seasoning, just dry and tasted old. The fish (which was $44) was especially bad and did not taste fresh at all. Even the lemons had no juice. The beans were so dry they felt like wet sand, and the rice was just average at best. Our total came out to $107 for two plates (fish and a shrimp quesadilla), two horchatas, and a tamarindo margarita. The margarita tasted like watered-down tequila with no tamarindo flavor whatsoever. Service was also lacking. Our server (an older man) took our order and barely checked on us afterward. When we were ready to leave, it took over 10 minutes just to get the bill. Interestingly, he became attentive only when it was time to pay. Overall, very overpriced for the quality of food and service. I would not recommend.
All I want is to find some real.good quality Mexican food here in San Leandro, and this place AIN'T it. I could tell by the photos and how they advertise their food on the menu that this place caters to people who didn't grow up eating Mexican food. I have been wanting a specific "Chile Colorado" kick lately, and before I knew how crappy this place was, I convinced my wife to try this place out. I regret it. She called it average, said the meat quality kind of sucked for her crispy tacos. And she ordered a wet burrito for lunch/dinner tomorrow. Looked lifeless and limp. I ordered a burrito mojado Colorado, which I thought would give me what I was craving! I got the "steak" option, thinking that because this place is catering to non Spanish speakers, that they were trying to communicate "carne asada"......nope, the meat inside was crappy cuts of chuck steak. That is NOT what you put in a burrito. And then there was what seems like an endless supply of half raw bell peppers in it, which completely threw off the texture profile of the burrito. I knew right away from looking at the lame "side salad" that came with it that this food was going to be trash. And it was. I really wanted to give this place a shot. Sorry
Delicious Mexican food with a festive ambiance due to the colorful decorations and music. They have a decent drinks menu and seemed pretty packed. The main knocks are that we had to flag the servers a few times for help and it's a bit tricky for parking as their lot is mainly for residents living in the adjacent buildings.

Jamás regresaré pagamos 110$ por 2 órdenes de chilaquiles y una orden de enchiladas. El servicio estuvo más o menos. Highly disappointed! We ordered green & red chilaquiles. The meat was all fatty and the beans were hard, dry, and clearly burnt. We payed for 110$ for 2 orders of chilaquiles and an order of enchiladas. So sad since the food looked great when it came out. Never ever coming back. The service was just okay.

Went for breakfast Saturday morning. Service was the best it's ever been. Our female waitress, who Inhabe never seen before was awesome. Our Food came in a reasonable time And was temperature appropriate. Best part Always Flavorful. There was a new male employee bussing tables and he was very attentive. I wrote their names down but since lost it so I'm sad about that as they deserve to be identified and acknowledged. This Just means I have to go back. Well done read more

I was here the other night with one of my sons and we weren't that hungry and just ordered one chimichanga to split, but they split the chimichanga and brought it to the table but put each half on separate plates and presented them each as a meal with beans, rice and delicious guacamole. We were so pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent and really the best Mexican food I've had in a long time. I was here before last year with another one of my sons with a similarly excellent experience, but it was such a great visit last week. I decided I should yelp which I don't have rarely ever done. I will be going back again soon. And by the way, the chips we're warm and crisp and salsa was delicious! Again, we will be back. read more
I recently tried this Mexican spot, and the food was both tasty and well-seasoned. The hospitality really stood out--the staff made sure we were taken care of from the moment we walked in. I ordered the grilled chicken with chilaquiles on the side, and it did not disappoint. Their portions are also very great sized The only issue was the parking. It's a bit tricky since the place is small, so it's best to get there early to grab a table. You'll need to find parking on the street or across the way, but despite that, I'd definitely go back the next time I'm in the Bay Area. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. Kind of hard to find a good sit down, Mexican restaurant with authentic taste and flavor. This spot did it for me! The only other local spot I'd consider good is La Piñata but even then it is hit or miss and typically very busy! For me personally, parking was a bit stressful since it's limited and on a fairly busy street but once you get inside you're welcomed by staff and sat quickly. It was Sunday around 11am not much of a wait! They checked on us a few times to make sure all was good. I will definitely be back to try more dishes! Yum!! read more

I can't believe I have not written a review for this location yet. I have been going here for over 11 years. The food has never failed but the service is up and down depending when you go. It is a small location but the music is never too loud and the ambiance is calm quiet. This time I ordered one of my favorites the Campechana. As always, there's always too much food for one sitting and it's fresh and delicious. My husband ordered the carne asada with chilaquiles. The chilaquiles were a little too tomato-y for him but the asada is always soooooo good! The service was slow the last time we went and it wasn't busy. The server even forgot the second drink my husband ordered. Nonetheless the food is too good and we'll keep coming back regardless of the service and that's saying something for me. read more

I had the cheeseburger don't judge me it always hit the spot lol , and we also had chilaquiles it was good but was lacking flavor ? Like the salsa for the chips were fire . We added that too it . How do I not know about this place?! Went on a Monday night, it was almost closing time but the servers were still happy to serve us. Customer service here is EXCELLENT! Everyone was so kind and helpful and never annoyed when you ask them for something. The place is small but don't let that fool you! Once you go inside, you will be amazed by the vibrant colors and lights throughout. It's almost Valentine's Day and they had plenty of Valentine's Day decor. I thought it was so pretty and cute. We had the fish tacos and the combo fajitas. The fajitas were very tasty! The meat was smothered in some kind of sauce and we loved it. The fish tacos were delicious but the fish was like a filet, I was hoping it was gonna be a thicker fish. The food tasted wonderful but the servings of the meat were small. We didn't mind as they were more than happy to give us unlimited chips. Parking is limited. They have a small parking lot in the back but plenty of street parking. We would totally go back here and try their other dishes. read more

I was Hungry for some Mexican food!!! So I rolled to the Vallarta Restaurant!! I parked my Whip on the Street as there is no parking lot there I rolled in like a Boss and was Greeted and Seated at a table!!! I was presented with a Glass of Water and a Menu!!! I perused my Menu and Ordered the Mariscada- Seafood Plate and a Horchata to Drink!!!! My Waitress was very Beautiful!!! She brought me my Horchata first it was Quite refreshing!!! My Mariscada came out next it was a impressive mound of Seafood!!! I started to eat it . It was Packed full of Flavor!!!!, My Waitress was very Nice and Attentive!!! I received the Bill and paid by Credit Card!!! This is a Baller On A Budget Approved Establishment!!! read more

The servings are large!!!!! Showed up for after church lunch, it didn't disappoint. The filete a la plancha was amazing, and their bacon wrapped shrimps too!!! They also have wonderful staff and micheladas! I enjoyed this place, perfect for any occasion! read more
This Mexican eatery is nestled in the middle of San Leandro, California. What a nice surprise. I don't know if it was just us, but our GPS landed us around the corner from the establishment. Which was an apartment building. I phoned to the pleasant. She walked us to the front door. read more
Wife and I wanted Mexican food for lunch and wanted to try a new place. We ventured to Vallarta on East 14th Street in San Leandro. Mostly street parking in this converted restaurant that likely was a motel restaurant in it's past. Apartments in the back now where motel rooms used to be. East 14th had a bunch of motels in the old days..... The restaurant has high ceilings, dark woods and rock motif and reminded us of a Tiki Bar... interesting as the drinks they serve look like they could come from a Tiki Bar. And they serve a LOT of drinks which flow when the Mexican Juke Box is on. The music is modern Latin with ballads and rap - great song choices by a group that went thru three rounds of drinks while we were there! A happening place. Since it was my wife and my first time there, she wanted to try a mole and I wanted to try a combo to get an idea as to the kitchen skills. We also wanted a drink but opted for non-alcohol, thus two satisfying Horchatas in nice size glasses to accompany the complimentary tortilla chips and red salsa. - Chicken Enchiladas in Mole Sauce with rice and beans. Lots of chicken in the enchiladas while the sauce could have been a little more chocolaty tasting. - Chile Relleno, Ground Beef Crispy Taco, Chicken Enchilada in Green Sauce Combo with rice and beans. GET the crispy tacos here as they come with guacamole, lettuce, sour cream in a very crispy taco shell. The Chile Relleno was cheesy good. Overall - service was excellent, really great atmosphere, get the Tiki style / Hawaii Vacation style drinks, get the crispy tacos or seafood platters which many were ordering. Our choices were good but we'll need to go back and try other dishes. read more
First of all I did not expect this place to be so nice when I entered. I was genuinely surprised how nice it look. From the outside it looked like a hole on a wall restaurant but when you go inside it's beautiful It's a nice little restaurant with a bar. Right now they themed their restaurant for Valentine's Day, so this would be a perfect place to spend your valentine day in! The service was outstanding. Our server took our food and drinks without any problem. Checked up on us and refilled our chips when it started to get low. The food here is amazing. I got the Burro gigante and I usually do not like smothered burrito but their homemade green sauce was something else. It tasted amazing. I ordered a drink the Paloma and that was mixed perfectly as well. I would definitely be coming back here! 5 out 5 stars read more

I do appreciate a place to eat that has personality. This is one of those places for sure. I've come many times over the years and it's always an experience based on the interior and new items I try each time. They are local, the interior is eclectic, the food is good and the service is nice. It's definitely a goto spot that's close and worth it. The employees feel like they are family or friends...they appear close & work very well together. The food is good, affordable and the menu has something for every pallet. I have a creative brain and fully Stan whoever is decorating in here as the season change. I love good food, great service and a decorative theme. Cheers, beers, tequila & good food indeed! read more
