Stopped by here last Sunday as we were craving sushi, so ended up booking a table for 4 with some friends. The service was fairly quick; a few times we had to call the waiters over, but it was not a big issue. The place was pretty packed that day. The ambiance is nice and felt like your typical sushi AYCE spots. The sushi came out pretty quickly when we ordered, and I was pretty impressed with the quality of the sushi; it felt like it tasted a bit better than some other AYCE places. I wish I could have tried the mini Unagi Don or the Ramen, but I was so stuffed after we got the sushi special and rolls and sashimi slices. Definitely will try it in the future!
Came here for lunch as this place is separated between an ayce Restaurant and a take-out section. In the take-out section, you can get matcha, deep fried sandos, and sushi don boxes. For takeout I thought it would come out fast, but it took about 15 minutes. Iicha box (4/5): This comes with seared salmon, unagi, and imitation crab over a bed of rice. For $23 it's not too bad. However I thought the salmon tasted warm (not from the sear) and thats something you probably don't want to taste. The unagi sauce was a bit too sweet. Despite that I enjoyed it. Cream sando (5/5); I really wanted to try this and this was one of the few places in the bay that served this. The deep fried crust was crunchy. The cream filling was actually filling. A bit too sweet for me but it was a good try. I recommend coming to try their sandos.
This review is solely for the matcha/sando stand they have outside! Their elevator was out of order and the stairs that led up to the restaurant were really interesting, it felt like going up to a doctor's office. We ordered on the kiosk and picked up our drink at the stand on the patio. The covered rooftop patio was actually really nice, it was shady and breezy on a warm day! The pistachio matcha was solid, i loved the pistachio cream on top. It balanced really well with the matcha. The matcha itself wasn't the strongest but with the pistachio cream, the flavors paired really nicely.
Review is solely for the matcha/sando area. My husband and I were driving through the area and I've been wanting to try the matcha and sandos here. Parking is pretty easy - there's a parking garage available within walking distance. The only downside is the restaurant and this cafe area is located on the 2nd floor of a building and the elevator was not operating when we were here. Not bad for us as we're still mobile, but could be a blocker for others. There are 2 screens available for you to order your drinks and sandos at outside of the restaurant and right before the balcony space. I opted for their strawberry matcha and the banana chocolate sando. It came out to about $15 for both before tip. Overall, the drink wasn't very strong in matcha flavor and the freeze dried strawberry bits on top of the foam didn't do much for me, but the sando was crispy and filled with a generous amount of whipped cream and bananas.
I've been coming here for years! Recently saw they have pocket sandwiches thanks to TikTok. Called my order in over the phone and was told they would be ready in 15 minutes. Arrived and paid as they were bagging my order. I've never been to Japan so I can't compare them to the real thing, but these are gooooooood! The order total was about 37 dollars for 4 pocket sandwiches. They contain a lot of filling whether it be the fruit one or the chicken. The fruit ones have more fruit inside the filling, it just appears like it doesn't come with much but there is a lot! Glad to see a business keeping up with the times!
Review for Matcha Bar: Got strawberry matcha and mango matcha. Too milky, requires lotsa stirring with a cheap clear straw instead of a thicker boba straw (or even a think black straw). I compare all strawberry matchas to the OG and always consistent version from Boba Guys and this wasn't nearly as good. $7.95 for all drinks and this high price doesn't come with boba (and you can't add boba or any toppings). You have to order at their kiosk in front of the elevator (no cashier) and remember your order # cause there's no printed receipt. The matcha bar is in the sushi restaurant's new outdoor patio overlooking the street below, where you pick up your order. Good new concept to drive more customers to the sushi restaurant, but I wouldn't come back. I'd rather go to Tram downstairs or even i-Tea for their matcha.
MY FAVORITE SUSHI SPOT I wish I could gatekeep but it's just too good! Amazing sushi, fresh fish with so many great options on the AYCE menu. The ratio of rice to fish for their nigiri is on point. You can actually enjoy the fish without getting full off rice. Their omakase box is delicious. Can get busy but the ambiance is still chill and it's easy to enjoy a nice dinner. I come at least once a week because it's so good
Ordered the strawberry and mango matcha - both were not bad but too milky. I went home and added 2 more grams of matcha and it was much better. Came on a weekday afternoon and it took kinda long for our order even though we were the only ones there. Loved the outdoor seating area - super cute!
I tried both the AYCE sushi restaurant and the cafe side, and honestly, my experience was very different between the two. For the AYCE sushi restaurant, it was good but not exactly mind-blowing. The fish and seafood variety didn't taste like the freshest quality, and after a while, a lot of the rolls started tasting the same. For around $45 AYCE, I personally think there are better options out there. Some of the skewers came out burnt. Takoyaki was 1/5, you can skip on taht. But that being said, the service was really good. The lady serving us was super friendly and attentive, and overall the staff was kind and welcoming. However, there was only one other table besides ours at the time, so I'm not sure how service would be during peak hours. Now the cafe side, I loved it. The vibe made me feel like I wasn't even in Hayward. The sandos were really good, and the matcha looked amazing. I'd definitely come back for the cafe experience alone. My biggest concern though is the elevator situation. It wasn't working during our visit, and I heard it hasn't been working for quite a while. It honestly made me wonder how elderly or mobility-impaired guests are supposed to dine there. That definitely seems like something that needs attention.

When you get to the second floor, there are kiosks to your left where you can order cafe menu items and to the right is the sushi restaurant. The doors lead to the balcony waiting area, which I'll admit has beautiful views of the hills and downtown Hayward. Best to come in the evening when lighting is photo worthy. The menu options are mostly matcha and sandos, which are sweet or savory, and sushi bento boxes. Stopped by with family and got the following 1. Strawberry matcha - 10/10 omg the matcha was DARK, well mixed and frothy. This is what matcha is supposed to taste like. The strawberries and cream at the bottom were perfect and not over sweet. 2. Mango matcha - 10/10 same as above 3. Salmon sashimi sando - 10/10 this savory one was so good. They mixed it in a spicy mayo sauce and crisped the bread to a yummy buttery perfection. 4. Strawberry sando - 10/10 so dang good! They also crisped the bread in butter but it was a sweet butter flavor. 5. Banana sando - 10/10 absolute banger if you love bananas. The bananas were perfect and the cream was banana flavored. Ugh I can't stop thinking about this one. Highly recommend! The atmosphere is great and I have to emphasize the patio was just beautiful. You just wait in the patio area and someone will come out to call your number at the counter, that's it! I'll be back soon!
AYCE. It means, even if your on a diet and don't eat as much, you better eat as much as you can to get your values worth! Right???!!! It was above average quality. I really like how its order as you eat them up. We pretty much tried as many items as we could eat. But our favorite is the sashimi and anything with unagi in it. The mystery box was so so good, wish we could had ordered another one. Everything we ate was fine but I would recco staying AWAY from these guys... Dynamite Roll, that was a mushy raw fish disaster that made me want to gag. Fried chicken wings, they were meniscal, dry and lacked flavor. Worth a try! Easy ordering system through your phone. Pretty fast service, even when there was only 1 server for the entire room. Plenty o' parking behind the theater and in front.
For the price of the AYCE I'd say it is 100% worth it. I went in on a weeknight with my family and the restaurant was still fairly busy. The staff was really nice when explaining the menu and ordering process to us. The fish was fresh and a good portion. I really enjoyed my experience here.
Kept seeing this location on TikTok for their matcha and Sando so we had to give it a try on our day off! It was during the week so there was literally no one there-- yay! We ordered two of the sushi boxes, a strawberry sando and the chocolate sando, and a salted matcha. The wait was a bit long for the drinks and sandos being that we were the only customers there. I'm not too much of a fan of the matcha. The sandos were pretty good but don't expect the chocolate to be sweet. It was straight unsweetened cocoa powder which threw my kids off lol. The strawberry one was good tho! BUT LET ME TELL YOU, the sushi boxes are so worth it. Tasted super fresh and worth your money. I wish we could customize to remove the truffle from the salmon because it's too overpowering but other than that, SO GOOD! The outdoor area is super cute and the decor is pretty. It would be a fun area to hit up with your girls and take pictures with your drinks :)
This review is for their matcha and sando. I decided to stop by at noon on a Sunday to order these items. I've only known about their restaurant serving AYCE sushi and have yet to try one day. Ordered their mango matcha and strawberry pocket sando using their kiosk. I was able to enjoy the nice weather while waiting in their outdoor patio. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect when I ordered the sando, but I was very impressed. The milk bread was very crispy and the fresh strawberries paired so well with the cream. I personally would like less cream if that was an option. The mango matcha was average. It was OK but didn't blow my mind. Yes, to the sando but would probably skip on the matcha next time I stop by. read more

Hinata Sushi Kitchen is an excellent AYCE sushi experience! The ambiance is beautiful, modern, and welcoming, making it a great place for a meal with family or friends. The sushi is fresh, flavorful, and high quality, with a great variety to choose from. The service was outstanding, friendly, attentive, and efficient from start to finish. One tip: make sure to order the Omakase Box first! It's a must-try and a delicious highlight of the meal. Overall, amazing food, beautiful atmosphere, and excellent service. this review is for the branch of Hinata that serves the dons and japanese sandos! I ordered the ichi don, on doordash it was 24.99. It was actually a pretty good value as the bento box itself was large and the portions of salmon, unagi, crab and seaweed salad were large. They definitely could have put more rice, and the seaweed salad was a little fishy for my liking, but overall it was delicious! Salmon was torched, unagi was saucy and the crab was creamy. I also ordered the creme brulee sando. I wish the custard was the filling all the way through! It's only a custard bruleed top and the rest is cream. It was delicious but the cream was a little overwhelming. read more

Disclaimer this review is only for the iced matcha latte they offer. I have yet to try the food here. Nonetheless, the matcha here is just alright. Didn't really blow my mind. It was good, definitely had better and I definitely had worst. I rate the matcha in the middle. Service is okay. It's a self order through a kiosk. They call your number when it is ready. You pick up the matcha on the outside patio seating area they have in the restaurant. It is very hidden and only have a pick up signage on the counter top from what I can remember. So the ambiance or views were okay. You can see a little bit of downtown Hayward. Im glad I tried this matcha spot out. Overall I give this matcha spot a solid 3/5 star review. read more

AYCE sushi restaurant in Hayward. Definitely on the pricier side of AYCE sushi compared to other locations in the Bay, but the quality of the fish and options of the menu will be satisfying! Unfortunately it is only 3 items per person that you can order when it comes to the sushi/sashimi, so plan accordingly! It can be busy during peak times so try to go either before or after the meal rushes. Also, please note that service can take a while especially if it is busy. Staff were still kind but our party was often wondering if past orders were going to be served. 6/5 - Salmon and Hamachi Sashimi - Fresh and with generous portions! We couldn't get enough of these dishes, and we kept ordering more! 6/5 - Salmon Nigiri - One of the stars of the show at this restaurant! Great fish to rice ratio. This was a favorite for many people in our party! 6/5 - Omakase Box - Order this first! This takes a while to prepare and it is an assortment of different fish prepared in various styles depending on the chef's choice. This was a fun tasting activity of the different ways that fish could be prepared and served. It won't be filling so rely on your other orders! 4/5 - Scallop King Roll - Savory roll that we highly recommend getting! It can take a bit to prepare and serve due to the roll needing to be baked, but the scallop with the crab meat and avocado gives it a smoky, savory flavor profile! 5/5 - Volcano Roll - Large pieces of sushi that carry a soft yet crunchy texture profile. Mixed fish rolls are fun to eat because there are different texture profiles, and the crunch from the tempura flakes makes it an overall very satisfying dish to eat! 4/5 - Hinata Special Roll - Basically the dragon roll but switch out the shrimp tempura with avocado! If you want a soft roll without crunch but love unagi, this roll will do the trick! 5/5 - Gambler's Roll - The spicy tuna and salmon is a killer combo for a roll, and this restaurant keeps it simple and delicious! You'll get a nice kick out of the spicy tuna and the savory profile of the salmon and their special sauce. 3.5/5 - Egg Roll - Nothing too outstanding but it was a properly fried vegetable egg roll. Great to order and eat while waiting for your sushi. 4.5/5 - Shrimp Tempura and Vegetable Tempura - Small pieces of tempura that were perfect for an AYCE type of meal where you want to eat them but do not want to get too full. The oil was not overwhelming, and we were very satisfied with the overall taste and fry! 2.5/5 - Fried Calamari - Nothing too outstanding with the calamari, but the pieces with the tentacles were probably our more favored kind of squid cuts. Hinata has been one of my fav AYCE sushi spots since 2023. You've got unlimited rounds in a specific time frame to order. They do limit how many items you can order per round to limit food waste which is great! The staff is very patient and enthusiastic when they know you're really enjoying your food. Their menu is very versatile, offering a lot more than just rolls or nigiri. You can get a perfectly seasoned Gyudon or even a chef's choice sashimi box! Their menu has changed a lot over the years but I think that their dinner menu right now is at its peak. My go to is the scallop skewers. Tender, fresh, and a nice bbq flavor from the open flame and a great value! The restaurant has a lot of seating but it's better fit for groups of 2-6 rather than larger parties. If you sit closer to the entrance, you can watch the sushi chefs prepare your food behind the sushi bar! read more
Located on B street in downtown Hayward. It's part of the Theatre building and located in the 2nd floor. We been here when it was another Japanese restaurant a decade ago. Hinata sushi kitchen is open all day and offers two ayce options at lunch. We chose the lunch menu $30 per. Not busy in the afternoon so the food came promptly. Most of the food was good but the tempura was terrible minus stars. Clean interior comfortable chairs. Service was very good. Hayward has public parking lots for the theater and a big lot behind Buffalo Bills. read more

All-you-can-eat sushi sounds like a great idea... until you realize they take that challenge very seriously. Everything we had was fresh, which is a big plus, and the food itself was good. Portions add up fast though, so this is definitely one of those places where you think you can eat all you want and then quickly learn otherwise. Service moved along fine, and the place overall was okay, but the cleanliness of common areas could have been better -- not terrible, just noticeable. Good value if you're really hungry and pacing yourself, and the freshness stood out, but a few details kept it from being a higher rating. read more
100% recommend! I attended the Patio's Grand Opening day and it was all beautifully set up and the food was perfection! The chicken sandos stayed warm and were amazingly good! The spicy does have a kick to it so be aware if you have a light tolerance to spice. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The balance of flavors is perfect. The fruit sandos were just as amazing with the fluffy cream and bread. Best sandos I have had. The matcha was also really good. I love pistachios, but the strawberry came through better in the drink. Check them out, the parking lot connected to the movie theater is usually a good parking option and the entrance is literally next to the theater entrance. read more

Tried their AYCE for dinner and thought it was reasonably priced for what you can get, especially if you're big on sashimi. Started off with the omakase box which came with 5 different items curated for our two person party. Also got a salmon nigiri and all the fish tasted fresh. If everything on their menu was this caliber and taste, I think this could have be a 4.5 instead of a 3.5. Unfortunately, their rolls, tempura, and hand rolls were not to our liking (mostly because the rice had too much vinegar). I would have been curious to try their ramen if it wasn't so hot, but the restaurant didn't have the AC in and we ended up skipping this option. Skewers and seaweed salad were enjoyable and were nice compliments to the meal, but still not enough to make this a staple option for our dining out but we'd consider coming back specifically for the omakase if we were looking for sashimi. read more
We came here recently to celebrate my father's birthday after seeing their ads on social media. The menu is smaller compared to other sushi spots, but it features familiar rolls and popular items that most people would enjoy. Service was decent overall, though it did take a bit of time for staff to clear our table throughout the meal. The omakase was the highlight of the night--every piece was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. The soft shell crab wasn't the best quality we've had, but I appreciated that it wasn't overly fishy or greasy. The spicy tuna hand roll definitely had a prominent kick, which spice lovers would enjoy. The rolls themselves were good but not particularly memorable, and the sauce on the spicy rolls wasn't my favorite, it had a sour, citrusy note that didn't quite align with my taste. All of the appetizers were solid. We enjoyed the takoyaki, fried squid, edamame, fried roll buns, and tempura. I came here late Sunday night. It was very crowded but our group of 4 was able to be seated quickly. We all ordered 1-2 rolls each. The rolls were good. The miso soup was good as well. This place exceeded my expectations! I don't really eat Japanese sandos as it's just not really my thing but they were DELICIOUS! I really love the strawberry and crème brûlée sandos as they were a perfect blend of creaminess from the cream and a nice crunch from the bread. The drinks were well made as they were super fluffy. Additionally, the bentos were a nice balance between crispy fried chicken and flavorful sushi! Overall, this place is amazing and I recommend coming here. read more
This place used to be a different all you can eat restaurant. This is now Hinata which is all you can eat as well but it's a smaller selection of rolls, hand rolls, nigiri, sashimi, skewers, and small appetizers plates for $41.99 each person so don't come here full. If you don't want to have the AYCE, don't come here. The whole table or anyone that comes here spends the same amount. Drinks are not included. They also offer alcohol drinks. They also offer small bowls of ramen but I would not go here for ramen. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor by the Cinemark Hayward 16 movie theater. There is an elevator available for handicapped folks. Easy to find. Plenty of street parking or at the free parking lot across the street or the free garage parking in the back. The staff are helpful but they don't remember who orders what and just puts it on the table. The best one to order here is the Omakase Box which has fresh fish selection. These are the best selection they have. I can just have this but make sure to ask for it. Decent and clean place. Great for large groups as they have plenty of tables. Good for receptions. I am always on the lookout for new matcha spots and came across Hinata Sushi Kitchen. They have an AYCE sushi restaurant, but outside on the patio there is a small stand that sells matcha, bento boxes, and both sweet and savory sandos. I ordered the mango matcha latte and the strawberry sando, and both were really delicious, especially the sando. The drinks took a little while to come out, but it was worth the wait. The staff was very friendly, and the patio area has a really cute and aesthetic vibe. I would definitely recommend! read more

Hinata Sushi Kitchen is a no frills, affordable AYCE sushi spot in Hayward! Lunch is $26.99 on a weekday, so you get what you pay for. The quality isn't out of this world, but it'll hit the spot if you're craving sushi. Some of our favorite orders: -Sashimi Set: I think the set changes depending on their supply, but I really like the variety they served! It was a box of 5-6 different specialist sashimi, including a charred salmon sashimi and a tuna oyster spoon. Someone in our group didn't eat sashimi, so they were flexible with just doing a box for 3 which was nice. -Lion Kong: this roll always hits! It's a solid portion and the salmon is nicely baked. -Dragon Roll: like a California roll but comes with shrimp tempura inside. Topped with avocado and unagi -Spicy Tuna: has a little kick and is a nice palate cleanser from some of the heavier rolls. Would skip the hot appetizers (chicken karage, skewers, etc.) read more
My husband and I decided to spend our day off having lunch at Hinata. When we arrived, we had to wait about 10-15 minutes before being seated. For a $41.99 sushi buffet, the ambiance felt pretty average. We were told we could only order the Omakase Box once, and unfortunately, the presentation didn't look as nice as the photos online. The sushi itself was decent but not as good as other places I've been to. The tempura was crispy but lacked flavor, and the tempura sauce was bland as well. The servers were friendly, but they definitely need more staff--especially on holidays. What really ruined the experience for me was seeing a baby roach crawling on our table. I tried to ignore it because I didn't want to spoil our "date," but it was impossible to overlook. That completely killed the vibe. Overall, this will probably be our last visit. It wasn't worth the $41.99 AYCE price, especially after driving from Burlingame. I much prefer the food, ambiance, and overall experience in Japantown, SF. read more

Our group of 4 went to Hinata Sushi Kitchen to celebrate a birthday. They are on the second floor of a building next to a cinema. First thing we noticed is that they have an outdoor patio that is very popular with families and couples ordering Matcha drinks and sweet Japanese sando from two large tablet devices. It is a very Instagrammable spot with a swing and artificial flowers. The main dining room itself is huge. The furnitures are very basic, however, and lend the dining room a budget vibe, making us felt overdressed. We decided on the AYCE option. The waitress informed us that on the first round we cannot order more than 3 items per person. After the first round, however, we are free to order on my own using our phone to scan the barcode and select items from the menu. What makes Hinata unique is the omakase box offered as part of the AYCE option. This is a chef's choice selection of premium sashimi pieces set in a wooden box and decorated with an orchid flower. For our omakase box we had very good tuna, hamachi, salmon and some kind of smoked fish, plus a large piece of scallop with roe on a decorative spoon. We were impressed with the omakase box. However, that turned out to be the only thing we liked from the AYCE menu. Although there are good variety of choices(appetizers, cold dishes, nigiri sushi, hand rolls, sashimi, sushi rolls, mini ramen or don, etc) for AYCE, the quality of the other items are just so so. Soft shell crabs were soggy and had too much batter. Mini ramen tasted bland. Grilled skewers of pork belly and scallops lacked depth. Hand rolls had too much rice. If it wasn't for the omakase box, we wouldn't think the price was worth it. read more
Came here on Easter Sunday for the patio outside portion! Nicely decorated outside, they can maybe use more chairs and table outside. The sushi bento boxes we got were goood and the amount of food we got was good too! I was suprised how good the sandos were! I think you can get any of the sandos and they would be perfectly sweet. We got the mango and creme brulee and they were made delicious, eat it asap because the bread is nice and toasty! First thing if you have any difficulties with walking up stairs keep in mind their elevator does not work so it's not ADA friendly. You do have to go upstairs to get into the restaurant. I did enjoy the sandwiches because they are sweet and the fruits are very fresh. The sandwiches also have mozzarella shredded cheese in the bottom I wasn't expecting but it was good. The bread is sweet,buttery and crispy. The cream is very light but filling. I would definitely order again I just do wish they could've had the elevator fixed. read more
I wanted to come here because so many influencers hyped up this place. Remember to order these items from the kiosk. The Kaisen Don Bento Box was ok but a bit too pricey for the portion. The Sando's were really good! And the Matcha was on point! I would definitely come again to try the other Sando flavors. Outside is really nice to take pictures on the deck where the seating is. first time coming and it was nice. the seating area was outside but it was very put together and nice. we went for the matcha and the pocket sandwiches. i got the pistachio matcha and the pistachio cold foam was really good while the matcha was just alright, i wish it was a bit more creamy. and the mango sandwich was soooo goood. would come again to try all the flavors, especially the savory ones read more

Hello. The whole table has to order either the ACE option or the ala carte. They do not allow the table to mix choices.

Not an open buffet. You order from a menu, about 3-4 items per person at a time. Do it as many times in a 90 minute period. Available daily.
