So I have to say that Canyons BBQ breakfast is definitely a secret delicious thing to get. They are right next to Philz, grab a coffee and then get a breakfast taco. They were AMAZING. As well as the breakfast sandwiches. Canyons BBQ meat is always delicious and you can't really go wrong with anything you get Unfortunately, I'm always disappointed with their sides. I can't seem to find a side dish that I think tastes good. I would only come for the meats and skip the sides.

Friendly counter staff. Food came fast but it was obviously slow cook. Good vibe from the music to the decor. The food was excellent! Eat here!

3.9 stars $38(?) 3 meat combo meal + cornbread and 2 sides. A good local spot but if you already got a decent BBQ near you, no need to come here. ...unless you really like Kansas style pork ribs. Cornbread: Not my style or I had better? Can't decide. Beans: simple but well seasoned and good. Mac Cheese: simple but nicely seasoned. Pork ribs: just my style with a sweet barbecue sauce rubbed on. Wonderful. Feels like Kansas City style. Burnt Ends: mixed. Has rendered fat? Out of this world. Lacking a fat layer? Chewy and a touch dry. Brisket: it was fine but I've had much better.

Canyons Barbeque is located on CV Blvd and has a shared parking lot with Castro Valley Marketplace and all the other businesses in that area. Canyons BBQ is a pretty spacious restaurant with a large patio area and inside seating as well. A bar with artisanal draft beers. A couple of tvs. Two separate multi-user men and women's restrooms. The service waa friendly and welcoming. She recommended a couple of her favorites which were the Pulled Pork and the Chicken. We wanted to get the Burnt Ends, but they were sold out of them, along with their Pork Ribs. Sadness. We ended up getting the Large Brisket Meal: served with 2 sides and bread (4/5). We chose Mac & Cheese and Potato Salad. Choice between Garlic Bread & Cornbread. The brisket was lean, smoky, and tender. Both of our sides were very good. My wife said the garlic bread was tasty and good. Support your local business.

When there are no food pictures, food must have been that good. Came in during lunch and we were greeted warmly and food was amazing. We ordered four meals and they came out fast and hot and the plates loaded. $109 for four people, which isn't bad at all considering how much BBQ costs. The favorite is the Mac & Cheese and Burnt Ends. They have a considerable beer menu. After we ate, their amazing staff person, Debbie, came out to ask if everything was good for us and to chat a bit about upcoming events. We make come out to try their breakfast and I'll try to make sure we get food pictures.

Q the Roof Another of the eleven locally-owned and operated Real Smoked BBQ locations, which include: Barbeque Pit (South SJ), Aptos St BBQ (Aptos [duh]), South Winchester BBQ (West SJ), Wagon Wheel (Mountain View), Salinas City BBQ (Salas), BBQ 152 (Gilroy), Trail Dust (Morgan Hill), Crossroads (Carmel-by-the-Sea), Mission St BBQ (Santa Cruz), Redwood City BBQ (RWC [doy]), and they also run Real Smoked BBQ Catering. Their locations all feature the same two things I crave most in life: real, wood smoked American BBQ and quality local microbrews. The Good: *Their meats are almost always good to great. I've found their burnt ends and ribs to be the most consistent items on the menu, and the brisket can be a little hit-or-miss, but fortunately, the day we went, it was terrific. *Service was fast and friendly. *Fast-casual: order at the counter and they bring it out to your table. *As mentioned above, quality local beer selection on-tap *Rewards program thru all their locations that earns you points that can be used for discounted meals. *Huge outdoor space The Meh: *Sides have always been their weak spot, but Ib will say they've improved their beans a lot over the years, and the 'slaw is generally not bad. The cornbread is sorta strange, too, but it's edible. The Ugly: *Limited street parking and there is a shared parking lot in the back, that was fairly packed on a random weekday afternoon. Conclusion: Solid Q, great beers, and a patio. Not much else you need in life tbh.

Tri Tip Sandwich, Coleslaw, Potato Salad, Mac and Cheese, and their burnt ends meal with cornbread!

Came here for lunch and I was super excited to try! The parking is a little tight in the back of the market place but there's also plenty of street parking. I love downtown Castro valley and it's always nice to see all the other blossoming businesses in the area! The outdoor seating area is so cute outside, they have a fire pit, plenty of benches and over head covering for the sun! It's great! The inside is super nice too- very clean and have great working air conditioning! It was such a beautiful day yesterday that we decided to sit outside. The service is great! Everyone is so kind and willing to assist with any questions we might've had on the menu! They also offer samples of the beer they have on tap! The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the burnt ends with my choice of two sides being potato salad and their Mac and cheese! My boyfriend ordered their tri tip sandwich with Coleslaw on the side! Both our plates were basically cleaned off before I got full! My plate also included a choice of their garlic bread or their cornbread and ofcourse I had to get the corn bread. It was so good! Not overly sweet, super fluffy with the perfect crust. For a business that's so close to home, their Barbeque was a 10/10 for me!! Absolutely delicious and the price point is totally worth it! The service, the cleanliness, the staff and the quality of food was all 10/10 for us! We will definitely be back!

The food was ELITE! It was my first time going there and the staff was so nice to us. The place is cool, yeah it's cold outside sometimes but they have heaters, everything about that places says ribs!! Feels like I'm back home in Texas! I will recommend more people to come here because the food was ELITE!

So few bbq spots to talk about in the Bay Area. That's fine. It's California. My lady and I were pleasantly surprised to discover canyons bbq on a Friday after work. Hands down some of the best pork ribs and brisket I've ever had. The Mac and cheese is good too! Great beer selection. Food comes out quick and hot.

My family and I visited Canyons Barbeque and got there around 11am. It was our first time here and we were amazed at their wide selection of meats. We ordered two of the two option plates with two sides each. For meats, we tried the tri-tip, burnt ends, brisket, and chicken. Sides were mac and cheese, fries, potato salad, and beans. All of the meats were flavorful and had a really nice smoky flavor. The burnt ends were SO good! They were saucy, tender, and juicy. Definitely a standout! The brisket was also very tender with a great smoky flavor and just the right balance of saltiness. The chicken was tender in most parts, and the tri-tip was cooked well, though it was a little dry. My favorite side was the mac and cheese. My kids devoured it. It wasn't overly cheesy and had a really nice flavor. We also enjoyed the fries, potato salad, and beans. The service was great! Everyone was so kind, helpful, and patient with us while we ordered, especially since it was our first visit. The restaurant itself is super clean and well maintained. We loved the outdoor seating area. It's so spacious, open, and has such a nice vibe. The smoker outside was a fun touch and smelled so good! For dessert, we had the cherry cobbler and it was delicious. It had a nice sweetness without being too tart, a great crunch on top, and the two scoops of ice cream made it even better. Overall, this is a place we can't wait to go back to. So glad we found it!

    Santa Maria salad
    Sophia H.

Was looking for a yummy salad for dinner and remembered canyons bbq has good options. Ordered the Santa Maria which comes with 1/2 lb tri tip on top and a full size garden salad with 1/4 lb of their spicy tri tip along with baked beans for pickup. Service was quick and food was ready within 10 min. The salads were fresh and the tri tips were soooo yummy. I'm not much of a bbq person, but the meat was packed with Smokey flavor. The baked beans were also flavorful and balanced between beans and meat. It also had a nice consistency, not too chunky or watery. Look forward to trying some of their other menu options!

This review is for their catering service! Ordered the Smokehouse Spread and Big Twenty for a birthday party at Kennedy park in Hayward. Easy online ordering system and food comes with plates, cutlery, serving utensils, moist towelettes and napkins. That makes for a super easy party! They provided great delivery service and called when they were on the way and then when they arrived at the park. They arrived early and had their own wagon for all the food. Super friendly and even made two trips to the car for all the food. EVERYONE complimented how delicious the food was and asked where I ordered from. I would definitely cater from them again!!

    Corinne P.

It had been a while since I last ate here, so I decided to check it out again. I ordered the tri-tip meal with beans and mac and cheese for $20, which also came with cornbread. While the food was tasty, I do wish all my food had been hotter, as it was more lukewarm than expected. Ordering was done at the counter and was incredibly fast--my food was ready immediately after I paid and I was able to take it straight to my table. The restaurant has about six tables, along with self-serve drinks and barbecue sauce. There's also a bar that offers well beers on tap. The tri-tip was tender and flavorful with good marbeling. The mac and cheese was very cheesy, though I wished it had a bit more seasoning. Overall, this is a solid local BBQ spot worth checking out, especially since they also offer daily specials.

Brisket Breakfast Sandwich and Andes mint to boot!

I ended up ordering - tri-tip - mashed potatoes - roasted veggies - assorted bread - lemon garlic salmon - veggie garlic pasta - Greek salad - dinner rolls - fresh fruit display - fresh fruit tarts - petit fours - gluten free mini cupcakes: red velvet, chocolate, vanilla, lemon I appreciate that Priscilla suggested to halve the salmon fillets to have double the number of salmon pieces for guests to have snack portions rather than meal portions. Although mini cupcakes were not listed on her menu, she was able to provide them. Also, you can ask her about gluten free desserts. You can have more than just macarons. Compliments I received... Neither was at all spicy-- afterwards they let us know that they are doing all the dishes mild (Castro valley lol) so if you like your Indian food spicy you will need to tell them explicitly when you order.

We increased our headcount from 65 to 75 a week prior. After being told this was fine, I was sent an incorrect invoice that ignored the new guest count and asked for a second $300 deposit I had already paid. It took multiple follow-up emails just to get a confirmation on the final numbers. On the day of, the staff arrived promptly and set up on time. However, only 30 minutes into service--with only 30 of our 75 guests fed--they completely ran out of cilantro, onions, and grilled peppers. When I followed up the next day, they claimed they prepared for "70 guests." Even if that were true, it wasn't the 75 we paid for, and it certainly doesn't explain running out of basic toppings after 30 people. I'm incredibly glad we didn't use them for our wedding last year as originally planned. It's disappointing when the service doesn't match the reputation. 2 stars for due prompt service and the guests that got all the food really enjoyed the steak & shrimp.

I tried out snow fresca at their pop-up at the Castro valley marketplace. I really love supporting…read morelocal food vendors especially ones that are owned and operated by a local family. Snow fresca really hit the spot after a blazing hot week, hitting upper-80s & low-90s. Particularly what they do well is they use real fruit juice which makes a huge world of a difference, they offer sweet fresh cut fruit as a topping alongside coconut cream or condensed milk, and a few other sprinkles and coconut shavings. I ordered a medium shave ice with ice cream, mango/pineapple/guava "syrups" and condensed milk with ice cream. Unfortunately the ice cream didn't make it in the shave ice, but when brought to their attention they offered to bring us a scoop. My personal suggestions: I think the shave ice may be better if the ice cream is topped with fruit and the shave ice is packed a little lighter. The reason I say this is because the fruit is loosely packed atop the shave ice and becomes a bit of a balancing game to try and eat without them just falling off the top and onto the table. This also becomes quite a challenge because you essentially need to pick at your shave ice because it's a bit too solid (but super light and fluffy once you do manage to pick out a bite), and occasionally lose a few fruit from all the ice being picked loose. Otherwise, I'd say this is one of the better shave ice in the immediate Castro valley area - especially the only one who uses real fruit juice!

My fiancé and I came to try Snow Fresca at Castro Valley Marketplace! We were looking around inside…read morethe marketplace for them but they were actually located outdoors where a lot of the seating is! We got here and filled out the form with our choices. I got a medium sized mango and guava with strawberry and mango bits with condensed milk and vanilla ice cream. I think my fiancé and I could have shared a medium one, especially after a meal! It's not 100% exactly what I would find in Hawaii but it was still good! We loved that there was an option to add ice cream. My fiancé got banana ice cream with his and he absolutely loved it! There were clumps of ice at the bottom, probably from the shaved ice being pushed down as they were making it. The syrup was inconsistent - some areas didn't have any syrup and was just ice. My ice cream as all melted by the time I got it, but my fiancé's ice cream was fine. Odd because I got my order first! It's still a good dessert place to stop by if I have a craving!
