Large size (12oz) with Acai syrup, Vanilla ice cream, Coconut cream, Dragon Fruit, & Mango, $19.57. Sun afternoon 2021-09-19
    Ziyan C.

At a hot outdoor event in San Rafael, Snow Fresca looked like everything I needed - cold snack, fresh fruit, flavorful toppings. Everything is customize-able and you can pick and choose your syrup, ice cream, toppings, fruits, etc. My shave ice was beautiful and several people asked me where I ordered it. My order - 4 stars Size (12 oz (up to 3 flavors)) $12.00 Syrup (Acai) $0.00 Ice Cream (Vanilla (fat free, sugar free)) $2.00 Snowcap (Coconut Cream (vegan)) $1.00 Fruit Garnish (Dragon Fruit - Red) $1.00 Fruit Garnish (Mango) $1.00 Total (before tax/tip): $17.00 However, be aware... - There are two sizes, a smaller bowl and a larger bowl. The smaller bowl looks puny, so of course I got the larger one. What I didn't realize was they were going to pile the ice to be about 4x the height of the bowl, so it ended up being way more than I wanted. Go with the smaller bowl unless you're sharing! - They don't list prices anywhere at their booth (from what I could see). I was shocked that my price came out to $17.00 (and this is BEFORE tax/tips). I warned everyone who asked me about my shaved ice about the price and that was enough to turn them away.

It was a hot day, and my husband and I came across this shaved ice place to help relieve us from the heat. Snow Fresca's shaved ice was refreshing, delicious, flavorful, and fresh. The syrup must be made from the real fruit. It does not taste like the artificial syrups that you may usually have with shaved ice. We ordered it with guava and passion fruit syrup, coconut ice cream, and coconut cream, coconut flakes, and passion fruit glaze to top it off. It was so delicious that we devoured whole thing in a matter of minutes! Looking forward to coming back again for more!

Such a vibe! Taking me back to Kauai with fresh fruit island flavors. Enjoy this spot Friday and weekends only during the summer. So good that I had to get another so don't kid yourself just order the bigger size from the start. Conveniently in the outdoor dining section of Castro valley marketplace.

The shaved ice was amazing! It brings good memories of Hawaiian style shaved ice: fresh, natural fruit, and good mix of flavors.

The cheese is rich, smooth, and perfectly melted, coating every piece of pasta without being too heavy or greasy. It's that balance a lot of places miss: creamy without feeling overwhelming. The texture is where it really stands out. The noodles are cooked just right not too soft, not too firm so every bite has that perfect consistency. And if there's a baked top layer, it adds that slight crisp that contrasts the creaminess underneath, making it even better. Flavor-wise, it's deep. You can taste the blend of cheeses instead of just one basic note. It's savory, slightly sharp, and comforting at the same time. It's the kind of dish that doesn't need extras to prove itself it already stands strong on its own. What really makes it memorable though is how it feels like more than just food. It's the type of mac and cheese that reminds you why simple dishes matter when they're done right. It's warm, satisfying, and leaves you thinking about it even after you're done. While I was unfamiliar with ordering food for a large number of people, Priscilla helped recommend the amount of food for the requirements, "I don't want to run out of food during the event" and "we love desserts". Another side note: I was catering snacks rather than a meal. I ended up ordering - tri-tip - mashed potatoes - roasted veggies - assorted bread - lemon garlic salmon - veggie garlic pasta - Greek salad - dinner rolls - fresh fruit display - fresh fruit tarts - petit fours - gluten free mini cupcakes: red velvet, chocolate, vanilla, lemon I appreciate that Priscilla suggested to halve the salmon fillets to have double the number of salmon pieces for guests to have snack portions rather than meal portions. Although mini cupcakes were not listed on her menu, she was able to provide them. Also, you can ask her about gluten free desserts. You can have more than just macarons. Compliments I received... "Did you make the food? The salmon and tri-tip were so juicy." "This is better than most wedding food." 2 people inquired who I used to cater for the event. I received general praise that the food was good. I received explicit praise that the petit fours and fruit tarts were good. The mashed potatoes were thick but good. Passion for catering's setup and tear down went smoothly. It was maybe 20-30 minutes of setup and 10 minutes of tear down. I appreciate that they were able to provide decor for the food tables. They also provided some takeout containers for us to take leftover food. 10/10 would cater from them again.

This business is located across the street from the union city bart station. There's a parking lot on site and street parking in front but not too much. Inside is clean and modern decor with a traditional mexican vibe, if that's possible. Next to the counter is a salsa bar with other forget me nots such as onions, jalapeños, radishes etc. I ordered a few tacos to get a feel for their strengths and weaknesses in their meats. If you know me, you know my philosophy on taquerias and taco trucks. You cant judge off of one item because you might miss out on their main focused dish. Anyway, I got a steak, al pastor, Chile verde and the 2 different shrimp variant tacos. All of them checked out, not a single weakness on the menu. The salsa was on the more bland side. If they bring some more heat or flavor, this place could be unstoppable. Especially for the area, because I haven't really found a spot I could put my name next to. All in all, this is an authentic mexican joint that can be enjoyed by all walks of life. The service was great, as well.. the staff was friendly and patient, answering all of our questions. I definitely recommend this place

Mr. T's don't quite cut it, so I was hoping to find a good selection. They have it, but I didn't find the veggie ones I was hoping for. They all seemed to be pork and beef. On another day, I probably wouldn't have cared, but that was what my mind was fixed on. Still, I managed to find a nice pear lemonade (plum too) and makes a couple of tarragon sodas to try when I am feeling braver. I also saw some Dubai chocolates and Milka products (tortes, cookies, candy bars) to buy for various holidays. They had fresh bread and a good selection of frozen fish (turbot, Sturgeon, etc...). My friend and I tried the fresh pasties. Her Sour Cherry Cake was delicious. It was nicely spiced, light, and delicious. I wish it had more sour cherry flavor, but it was good. My Kyiv Cake had good flavor, but I guess I've lost my tolerance for so much meringue. I thought the hazelnuts a chocolate glaze would carry me, but I don't like my cake to crunch. So, not for me. Although that won't keep me from trying other things. I want to go back after I do a little research. The Georgian wines and their wide selection of hard candies looked. Really appealing, but I couldn't read the labels. Next time. If you go visit, know that it's tucked away behind the Round Table pizza. It's also within easy walking distance of the Castro Valley BART, so don't let its location deter you.

We have our favorites from their menu but they host a variety of curries, proteins, and small bites/street eats. Panipuri - crispy balls ready to be loaded up with lentils, delicious fillings and sauces, these mouthfuls are great for starters but you'll find yourself eating these throughout the meal not only because you're hungry but also because you just can't get enough of them. Samosas - hearty fried dumplings packed with potatoes that are perfect for eating on the go. Great by itself or with sauces and curry, these hot pockets are a burst of flavor that will stuff you up. Goat curry - full of flavor and a bit on the spicy end for those sensitive to capsaicin. Pair with naan or rice and you'll be golden, from the tastes you'll be experience as well as the heat! Butter paneer/chicken - the sweetness of the curry is subtle but the creaminess is what will win you over. Smothered over chicken or paneer, this is a delicious palate pleaser. Biryani - solid staple, flavorful and cooked perfectly. Great by itself or paired with some curry or a grilled entree. Salmon - delicious but a bit overcooked for my liking but in a pinch, omega-3s can be supplemented in this meal. Overall, Phulkari satisfies our craving for Indian curry any day and it's great knowing that the experience will consistently be a good one anytime those cravings come up. We haven't had a chance to dine in but would welcome the opportunity to visit for a sit down. For now, they're still our go-to for Indian cuisine when we are in the area. Unsure of where you'll end up settling for food or not having the time or space to cook an elaborate meal packed with flavors and aromas? Phulkari pulls through as the restaurant of choice!

New menu, new prices, new staff. Upon walking in they asked us if we would like to sit outside after seeing my service dog. I said no thank you (as it was chilly out) and they didn't push the issue at all, just sat us. They served us water immediately. This is a small thing but the water glasses were easy to hold and lightweight and I liked that. Anyways, they checked on us several times while we looked at the new menu, encouraging us to ask questions if we wanted. Rice is complimentary with each curry-type dish. Our food came quickly. When they noticed we had eaten half our rice, they repeatedly offered us rice and we said no thanks. Then they brought it anyways. We didn't mind, they were very eager to give good service and to be present. They refilled our glasses once they got low. At the end of the meal they came over and discussed the food with us, let us know about the new ownership and how they've changed the menu, and that they are using all fresh ingredients. They seem very eager to provide good food and service. The dishes were both flavorful. The vegetables in them were fresh tasting. Neither was at all spicy-- afterwards they let us know that they are doing all the dishes mild (Castro valley lol) so if you like your Indian food spicy you will need to tell them explicitly when you order.

While the food eventually arrived, the experience leading up to and during the event was fraught with unnecessary stress. To make matters worse, the voicemail changed from a personal greeting to a generic one 72 hours before my event, leaving me terrified that we had been scammed. We increased our headcount from 65 to 75 a week prior. After being told this was fine, I was sent an incorrect invoice that ignored the new guest count and asked for a second $300 deposit I had already paid. It took multiple follow-up emails just to get a confirmation on the final numbers. On the day of, the staff arrived promptly and set up on time. However, only 30 minutes into service--with only 30 of our 75 guests fed--they completely ran out of cilantro, onions, and grilled peppers. When I followed up the next day, they claimed they prepared for "70 guests." Even if that were true, it wasn't the 75 we paid for, and it certainly doesn't explain running out of basic toppings after 30 people. I'm incredibly glad we didn't use them for our wedding last year as originally planned. It's disappointing when the service doesn't match the reputation. 2 stars for due prompt service and the guests that got all the food really enjoyed the steak & shrimp.
