I had the pleasure of working with PINX Catering for a recent corporate event where they provided two breakfasts and one lunch for approximately 70 attendees. It was truly one of the best catering experiences I have had from the professionalism of the onsite staff to the exceptional quality of every dish served. I was unfortunately too busy managing the event (and enjoying the food) to take photos, but the menu absolutely deserves recognition. Highlights included the perfectly seasoned Farmer's Market Scramble, Chicken Apple Sausage, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Blueberry Sauce, and Herb Roasted Potatoes for breakfast. Lunch featured incredibly tender Short Ribs, perfectly glazed and moist Grilled Chicken, grilled polenta, and the best honey butter cornbread I have ever had. Our guests consistently commented on how outstanding the food was...and this group is not easily impressed when it comes to catering. Pinx catered a company anniversary party at my office. They had both hot food as well as a charcuterie board setup. There were a handful of labelled vegan options which I appreciated. The hot food received mixed reviews, from what I tried they had these polenta things which were quite bad but also sweet potato tacos and brussel sprouts that were pretty good. All the hot food was a little bit cold though when I got it. The charcuterie boards looked really nice and fancy. Overall not bad, the food definitely could have been better but it wasn't terrible and they did a good job serving 400+ people. read more

I tried Pinx catering during an event that I attended and I was incredibly impressed by the flavor, options and quality of the food. I had both the steak and chicken lunch trays. The meat was tender and flavorful. Rice was soft and bouncy, and veggies well cooked. I specifically also really enjoyed the hummus and pita. We hired Pinx Catering for my baby's 1st Birthday Party for ~40 people (~35 adults and ~10 kids). My guest are still talking about how good the food was, thanks Pinx! Also it was nice to have all the details in food department taken cared for on the day of party when I could sit back and enjoy. From the menu planning, decor and communication, it was a great experience. Communication was easy over phone or on email. They were on time to setup and, cleaned up after and the on-site staff was very sweet. For decor we let them know the theme/color scheme of the party and they added the decor/presentation accordingly. We let them know that There was NO-Flame policy which includes no sternos at the venue, so they easily accommodated with alternate electric heating for food. Food We ordered lunch for 40 people. Our guests all loved the food. The order includes all of your paper goods and a really nice presentation as well as a server. Service - My MOH let Pinx know my favorite foods, and they built a custom menu for the buffet. Set up and strike staff were professional and on time! My sister let them know my rose gold and floral theme, and they provided exactly what she asked for! The decoration set up was truly fabulous. I think this is where all the points go. I imagine that this is hard to find in catering companies these days at a reasonable price! Food - we ordered the caprese skewers with mozzarella cheese (light and fresh), crab and shrimp sliders on garlic butter roll (filling and tasty), chicken and waffle bites (my favorite, also very filling and tasty), and smoked Gouda mac and cheese cups (worth it), caesar salad (caesar salad is caesar salad, can't go wrong). Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to use this catering service because they cancelled on me last minute. After confirming my order on phone and email, Pinx accepted my catering order and kept me waiting 5 days for a proposal. When following up, Pinx had no response and then 4 days before the event cancelled the order due to high demand with the warriors playoffs. While I understand demand is high and larger orders take priority, that doesn't make up for lack or communication and not delivering on confirmed services. Disappointed!! read more

We tried Pinx's sweet potato pie waffle with salted bourbon a la mode at Eat Real 2014. Like other reviewers were saying, it was ludicrously sweet. The caramel sauce was delicious, but there was no sense of balance. If we didn't get the scoop of vanilla ice cream, it would have been a disaster. Waffle was okay, but a little soggy. It could have used a little work too. It would take longer, but they could make them thicker, then crisp the outsides prior to adding the toppings. Employees were super friendly & enthusiastic. This review is kind of long so if you don't want to read the full thing, just know this - Pinx is amazing and do not hesitate to book them!! For context, we hired them for a 250 guest wedding - passed appetizers during cocktail hour, 2 course plated meal (salad and entree), and they also passed out our cake for dessert. It was a lot to ask and they got an A+! I cannot find the words to properly explain how thankful my husband and I are for Pinx!! I first came to know about them from an event I attended many years ago where they served the most delicious appetizers. I immediately followed them on IG and made a mental note that I would use them whenever an opportunity came. When I got married this past May, I took the opportunity to work with them and we were absolutely blown away by everything. Our main contact person was Stephanie, who is extremely kind, patient, thorough and so so sweet. We exchanged multiple emails and calls back and forth and she was so responsive and helpful each time. She didn't once complain or seem frustrated when we made countless edits to our menu, headcount etc. My parents came with us to our in person tasting with Stephanie and we all had a blast - my parents and her became besties haha. She was so patient with my parents and answered their many questions throughout the whole process. We love Stephanie! While planning for our wedding, Stephanie remembered some key things we forgot, was mindful of our budget, gave advice on complimentary food options, and worked seamlessly with our wedding coordinators. On the day of our actual event, the Pinx team excelled. They came extremely prepared, all their staff members were so nice, food was as delicious as we tasted and all our guests kept raving on about how yummy the food was and how lovely Pinx's team was. Special shout-out to Chef Diego and everyone on the team! Despite challenges from another caterer we had on site to serve our some of our culture specific food, Pinx stepped up to the plate. Not only did Pinx deliver their own meals in a timely fashion for a plated service, the Pinx team helped the other caterer deliver their meals so that our event can go smoothly (this was something they were not required to do at all but saw the need). You can tell the Pinx team cares about what they do - they treat your event like it's one of their personal events with their loved ones. Today is Juneteenth (6/19) and I warned all my friends that PINX would be busy!! I didn't get my lunch until dinner time almost 6pm. But let me say this, it was delicious !!! Just as I imagined! We were having a Halloween party at work and didn't want to have the usual pizza party. I worked with Alexus on coming up with a menu and she made it into a Halloween menu which was so much fun but most importantly it was tasty! We had black spaghetti with prawns. It was so good and there was so much of it! Mummy fingers- small hot dogs wrapped in dough, these appetizers were a hit. Deviled eggs- holly crap these were amazing and flew in less than 5 minutes! Fruit skewers- fruit was fresh and full of flavor. Orange chicken- this was my absolute favorite of all. The chicken was juicy, tender and full of flavor. We had Pinx cater our kid's birthday party 2 years in a row (2017, 2018) for ~25 adults and ~12 kids. I reach out to Pinx about 3 to 4 weeks before the event each time, and book for 25 people, and depending on party RSVP, I get in touch to let them know of any quantity increases several days before the event. Both years, Pinx was extremely responsive from beginning to finish. The day of the event, they come on time, sets up the whole thing, and later in the day, they do a great tear-down as well. This year they even packed our left overs for us, which was a godsend. We didn't have to do more than set out some beverages for the party. Our bill for both years came out to around $1400 for about 8-9 types of finger foods, portioned for 30 people. (my favorites: crab cakes!) Highly recommended. these people are pros! read more

All her staff are very professional and courteous and always serve with a smile! I mentioned good customer relationship (not service), because they go above and beyond to ensure that the client is satisfied and always welcome to come back. They participate in the San Francisco Street Food Festival every summertime (I think it usually falls on the 2nd or 3rd Saturday in August). And they were even voted #1 in the 2011 competition. If and when Pinx opens up their own restaurant, I will definitely be one of the first to try it. I came to their pop up kitchen in Oakland with my parents. Pinx had catered a party my mom went to and she loved it. We had a reservation for 10:30am and we were seated close to this time even though they were running a little behind. I'm glad we got here sooner than later because there were a lot of people waiting once we left. It took a little while to get service and get our drinks but I can understand how it would be hectic. I loved the shrimp and grits! I've never had grits before so this was a good first for me. The red velvet pancakes were good and not overly sweet. The bacon might have been the best bacon I've had. Thick cut with just the right amount of sweetness. I don't usually like sweet potatoes, but the sweet potato pie waffle was good. I also bought a Mexican hot chocolate brownie on the way out for $5. It was perfectly chewy with a good amount of spice. As for the negatives, my orange fizz reminded me of alka seltzer and Sunny Delight. They accidentally gave me two and didn't charge me for the both of them so that made it a little better. The frittata was too salty for my taste. I also thought the food could have been warmer. Overall, service was good for the most part. Pinky herself and other waiters made sure to check on everyone. The prix fixe menu was worth the $15 with reservation, but I'm not sure if it was worth $20 without reservation. I do hope Pinx opens up a restaurant someday. This company was supposed to cater a graduation party at St.Mary's. At 11:30a (start time noon) there wasn't a single table or chair. As of 12:30 there is a cart with a few wrapped salads and no one here. The company is running other on site events and basically left us hanging. There is still no plan for resolution and not even a single cup for wine. Thankfully someone found a bottle opener for the beer. On site customer service is horrible and the man was rude and hasn't even proposed a resolution. I would never recommend them. Beware! read more
