We had the sliders, crab cakes, lemon bars, chocolate pot de creme, chicken skewers, bacon wrapped shrimp, Caprese skewers, brie crostini, and a crudite plate with beet hummus. I didnt' even have to put the menu together, as I just told Pinky what my approx budget was, and she came up with some great options that I was able to glance at and say "Yep, that sounds delicious and reasonably priced!" Her team was on time, very tidy, very neat, and everything was beautifully presented. From beginning to end an amazing experience! After trying a couple other caterer's food and not being impressed, I looked to yelp for help 3 weeks before my husband's 40th birthday party. I called Pinx and Sareena made me feel totally comfortable. My family is used to indian food at parties so I was taking a chance with Pinx food and not having ever tried them. However, their menu included many of my husband's favorite foods (e.g. chicken and waffles, crab cakes, and bbq chicken flatbread) so I knew I had to go with them. I'm so happy I did! Anytime I am throwing a party, I'm up all night the day before, up early the day of, and I'm running around the whole time during the party itself. This time I got to relax and enjoy myself. And our guests all raved about the food (even the older folks who usually only want indian food). We had the chicken and waffles, crab cakes, and bbq chicken flatbread as I mentioned and a few more appetizers. And for dinner we had salad, jerk chicken, steak tips, Mac and cheese, and sweet potatoes. Everything was excellent! I was also very impressed with the decor used in the buffet. I chose Pinx to cater for my 10th Anniversary Party in May. From the beginning the service was warm and friendly and I felt right at home. My sales/caterer Portia was engaged and made suggestions (as I am one of those people who don't have a lot of time!). The food was fantastic and the staff the night of the event was professional and friendly! The caterers deserve more than 5 stars. We never worked with a caterer before but they made it easy for us. They were able to take our vague ideas, help us focus the menu, and finally Pinx turned them into delicious dishes, better than we could ever imagine. We thought we were throwing them a curve by going off their regular menu and asking for Filipino-style lechon, moist, fall-off-the-bone roasted whole pig but at the same time, attaining a thin crispy skin (like potato chip crispy). We also asked for lumpia (Filipino egg roll, but lighter) and we had doubts about having it pre-cooked in their kitchen and then brought to the event site. Would it still maintain its crispiness? They assured us that they can do that and somehow, Pinx succeeded on both those requests beyond our expectations. We also thought that since we were hosting a small wedding, that we were too small for any caterer to take us seriously. Pinx - Craig and Pinky - treated us like we were the most important client they ever had. They came in the morning of the event with their able and well-trained crew and set up with a minimum of fuss. The lechon was a hit, the vegetables al dente and the salmon cooked slightly rare to the exact wishes of the bride & groom. Pinky's mother even came in with homemade liver-based lechon sauce. Gotta get that recipe. After the event, they cleaned up the kitchen, threw out the garbage, portioned out the leftovers and washed the champagne flutes quickly and efficiently. In all the hubbub of such a celebration, we don't even know when they left. All the guests raved about the food. A friend referred me to this wonderful eatery (for delivery) and so I checked out the menu and it was very creative! I knew my wife and I wasn't going to have time to cook or go food shopping so I decided to order the Chicken BBQ Mango and Stone Ground Mustard Glazed Short Ribs. Wow! They were delicious! Their service is better than I've ever seen at any other wedding, including bringing apps to the bridal party during photos, making 100% the bride and groom ate, etc. I could tell they were paying attention to every detail in order to make things stress free. We had 100 people and chose a taco bar and salad bar for dinner and had passed apps during cocktail hour - the display was beautiful and the food was delicious. Pinx has and will always have a special place in my heart. I can't speak on the specifics on how my sister had met Pinky (the lady who started Pinx) but my sister, also being an entrepreneur, was very interested in supporting and promoting fellow women entrepreneurs. My sister worked in PR and ran many local events and would regularly use Pinx as her caterer. When my sister got married a few years ago, Pinx catered her rehearsal dinner. Unfortunately, my sister was diagnosed with cancer and subsequently passed but for her celebration of life but when our family needed to decide on a caterer, we immediately went to Pinx. My sister was very particular with her food and the vendors she used for her events. To be a consistent vendor at her events meant means quite simply, these guys are amazing. We had Pinx Catering for our rehearsal dinner and our wedding a few weeks ago. Everything was outstanding ! The decor on the tables was beautiful and every meal was colorful & tasty! Wrapping up appetizers after being out fot 30 to 45 minutes. We hosted a party in our backyard, and Pinx catered food and service made it an event! Chef Craig is true professional juggling multiple hats, from chef, food server, clean up and greeter. The PINX brand is always buzzing around campus (I work in BioTech). Oh, how we LOVE to eat Good Food and Pinx ALWAYS delivers! I recently hired PINX to cater a large private event with approximately 200 guests. From the initial pleasant phone order with Alexis and Kaylynn, the break-down and clean-up by Rodney, the PINX team stayed extremely polite and professional. Even our event planner was impressed. My guests made many comments on how AMAZINGLY good the food was (one, a restaurant owner). I highly recommend PINX for any event, big or small. We had the sweet potato casserole, which taste like straight-up magic; fried fish; lemon herb chicken; honey-butter corn bread ... and them yummy and oh-so savory collard-greens. I attended an event at Google this past week where Pinx had catered. I had to go and celebrate the chef personally because the food was so good. I'm a very picky eater but decided to try a little of everything, because Google was paying, and let me say, I was not disappointed. Everything I ate was delicious from the bacon wrapped shrimp to the sweet potato pie. I don't eat banana anything, but the chef insisted I try it. So I did and ended up eating 3 of them. Pinx has done it again. My first encounter was a few years ago at a Yelp event at the Sierra Nevada Torpedo Room in Berkeley. I had the red velvet pancakes with cream cheese frosting and maple bacon. The food was delish and I haven't found a pancake that lives up to the red velvet since. A few days ago I enjoyed their brunch at ala Mar in Oakland during Oakland Restaurant week. Since then I can't get the sweet potato waffle with bourbon Carmel sauce out of my mind. They teased me with a quarter of a waffle. I'm such a fatty I could have devoured a whole bunch. Today, went to Pistahan and tried Pinx's ube waffles with caramelized macapuno syrup. O-M-G. To clarify, it wasn't just ube-flavored waffles. It was a waffle with ACTUAL ube in it! Heaven. And the caramelized macapuno syrup reminded me of the caramelized coconut milk topping on cassava. SOOOOOOOO GOOD. And I'm not a fan of macapuno because it's slimy, but caramelized... Yum! Also got their Melon drink (cantaloupe grated with water&sugar and ice cubes). Just how Lola makes it. So refreshing on a sunny day like today. As far as service, they were polite and quick with the amount of waffles they were serving up in addition to the other food items on their menu. 3.5 stars I first heard about Pinx at the Pistahan Festival. I ended up buying the Ube waffle with some sort of sauce on it. It was actually pretty delicious! I was so happy to hear that Pinx catered one of our holiday parties this year. I am a little mixed on the stuff they provided. Jambalaya balls: It was very flavorful and the pairing of the sauce made it oh so good. However, while trying to get it onto your plate, the ball would just fall apart (crumble for others that tried to pick it up with no serving tongs or spoons. We all used forks.). After a while, the plate of balls just didn't look all that appetizing. Need to work on presentation for this dish. Crab cakes: The taste of the crab cakes were really good. But no real texture. You bite into a bit of a mushy crab cake. Maybe I am being picky and harsh, but our kitchen (in which they took over and set up in) had two ovens, it could have been reheated so it had a crispy texture outside and would be a little warm. Beef short ribs: man, these ribs were bigger than I expected. It was pretty hard to eat standing up while holding a glass of wine. This was not a good finger food item. But it was tender and had tons of flavor, it wasn't dry. Shrimp covered bacon: can't go wrong with this one! It was delish! Banana pudding: I think there was cake pieces or something in it. I loved it. It wasn't too sweet and had the right balance of cake and pudding. Whoopie pie with peanut butter: I did not know the center was peanut butter. This dish was really rich in flavor. It was hard to finish it after the first bite. Peacan pie: Pie filling wasn't that sweet (which is a good thing in my book) but there was something about the crust I didn't like. What can I say? I just turned 30 years old and my husband planned a surprise for me that once again, PINX played a huge part. After planning to take me "out to lunch" to a nice restaurant on a beautiful Saturday, we ended up at a nice park surrounded by friends and family, and of course a park that was transformed into a beautiful birthday arena. We showed up (to my surprise), to tables topped with table runners and beautiful flower bouquets in the center of each table, along with gorgeous place settings for all of my guess. To top it off, the food was beautifully set out and it was all but GREAT! We had a three course meal with a beautiful cake specially made by my good friends at Jolicakes. So...just had the Short Ribs, Red Mashed Potatoes and Greens plate from Pinx, you know to share with the wife...well she didn't get NONE! Sorry Hun! But it was so good. My experience with Pinx Catering was a heartbreaking one. What started out as a wonderful experience left me disappointed and in tears. I had the pleasure of working with Pinky's assistant, who was professional and courteous at all times. She returned every call, and made sure all of my questions were answered in a timely manner. We discussed my need for rental items along with having passed appetizers for the first hour of my event. She even recommended the rental company, and made sure all of the items I ordered were in place. On the DAY OF my event, Pinky called me in panic mode to inform me that I was only charged for 3 servers for 4 hours, and that since I had rentals her staff would now have to stay for 8 hours instead of the 4 hours she and I originally discussed during our FIRST conversation. She also stated that she was not aware that I was having passed appetizers, and that there was no way 3 servers would be able to pass appetizers and set up for my event. She then had the audacity to ask me if I could have volunteers set up the tables FOR MY EVENT! I was already pressed for time since I only had 4 hours to decorate for my event, not to mention that I was stuck in traffic - talking to Pinky on the phone. I shared with her that I did not have any volunteers to help her to help me, and not only was I insulted, but her assistant and I had been working on my event for weeks! Her assistant KNEW that (1) I had rentals AND that (2) I had requested passed appetizers. What was daunting and disrespectful was the fact that she had not bothered to revisit the logistics of my event until the DAY OF my event, which is why she had no idea what was going on! She became upset when I declined to ask for volunteers, stating that she would have to come to my event as well as solicit family members to assist her because "there is always a chef on site to plate the apps." Fast forward: she shows up and refuses to introduce herself. I asked her staff on several occasions to ask her to come out, and she never showed her face. She said that by the time she came out that I was on stage, which is a lame excuse because if she was truly interested in meeting her paying client, she would have waited, not to mention she nor her staff were present for the 8 hours she feared in the beginning. The event was for challenged children and their families. My staff and I went overboard to make sure they had great food along with excellent service. I'm not sure if my event was "important" enough or whether our event was considered "low-budget," but the service was mediocre. The appetizers were cold, and the main course was lukewarm. I was stunned because my experience had nothing to do with the flavor of the food, but the fact that it was cold! I shared with Pinky that the appetizers were cold and she said that SHE WAS NOT SURE IF SHE HAD ACCESS TO THE KITCHEN OVEN?!? I was devastated because what venue would allow use of the kitchen, but not of the oven? Besides, if that's what she thought, then WHY didn't she simply ask instead of serving my guests cold shrimp and sliders? What was clear was that she had an attitude and was upset because she had not planned on being present at my event. Also, her staff was not available to serve second portions, as I was asked by a few guests when they attempted to get a second helping of the food. I am not saying that the food was not good; my issue is with the temperature of the food and the service along with the unprofessionalism and disrespect. I handled it well, and the night was amazing for our kids and their families although I was crushed by Pinky's lack of empathy and total disregard by not taking ownership over the fact that she was simply not dialed in to my event. She even told me that she would talk to her staff and figure out how to make it right and get back to me the next day. Again, I was disappointed because she neglected to reach out to me the next day and instead sent me an email stating that her assistant would be crediting my card $200 FOR THE APPETIZERS, as if my experience was about the appetizers??? Yes, they were cold, but the fact that she did not give me the courtesy of even calling to discuss her decision was as unprofessional as they come. Please understand that professionalism, respect and value will always trump the taste of food. It's about having a spirit of excellence and treating clients/people with dignity regardless of how important you think they are, knowing that the truth that you stand under affects how you understand. read more

Pinx was at the SF Street Food Festival. I had them last year and I'm so glad they were here again this year. Last year they had the sweet potato waffle. It was BOMB. This year they had the banana's foster waffle, also BOMB diggity, giggity-giggity! And the bacon...well...how can you ruin bacon?! It's maple glazed too! Dear Jesus, it took everything in me not to eat my eating buddy's other piece of the waffle today at the festival while she was off getting my lumpia. It was calling me! I didn't know Pinx was a catering business but gee, I may have to look into throwing a random party just so I can have ya'll cater and make me some waffles! The guy shouting out the booth next to them was real neat today. I applaud that (because no one was lining up tot he booth next to Pinx, unfortunately). He was a real sport and shouting out the next door booth was really humble, because we all know most of us would line up for some bacon and waffles before we would a cheese puff and s'mores! We recently had Pinx cater a lunch at our company (only 30 people here so far) as a friend recommended it to us and the food was excellent. The fried chicken had a crispy coating with a hint of sweetness and juicy and tender inside. We also had a molasses braised lamb that was very tasty and juicy. I think that's the key thing for catered food - that the mass produced food is still cooked well and not dried out. As sides we had honey soaked buns, southern green with ham hocks, couscous, and rice and beans I think. For dessert with has sweet potato pie waffle with bourbon salted caramel, peach cobbler on waffle, and banana trifle (mini nilla wafers, vanilla pudding and bananas with a caramel rum sauce). You blew away the competition even according to an article written on the best food in the show.
