Vicky's Nail Salon is right down the street from me. If i wanna go somewhere dirt cheap that's where I would go. But if I want a place that's not so crowded, I prefer Tami's. I usually will go with my roommate after work around 6:30, so there's usually nobody there to bother us. The owner, is hilarious. She'll put on an Adele or Lady Gaga dvd and sing along to it. Tamis is seriously the best! Yes the reviews are true she is a bit loud and crazy but hell who isn't. She does great nails and honestly that's all I care about. Her selection of dip, gel and polish has way more variety than larger nail salons. I've only ever had tami do my nails but I assume the other techs are just as good. I stumbled across Tamis today and was very beyond happy with my experience. First off, Tami her self is such a wonderful lady. Super funny and sweet. She made my mother and I feel so comfortable. We got a mani + pedi for a very good price. The environment is nice and peaceful, with beautiful plants. She also had Amy winehouse playing for us! I've been meaning to write a review for this place since my first visit a week ago, and I must say... I really like this little business that Tami runs here. I got a spa pedicure on a Tuesday night because it was the first time in awhile I had a weekday off. But I found out that they are open on Sundays too. It's really nice and clean inside. Tami is very warm and welcoming to her clients. Free green tea or coffee. The lady who did my nails (Holly? I totally forgot her name, but I think that's it) did a really nice job and gave me a good massage. It's only $15 for the spa pedi. You have plenty of magazines and the nice TV playing concerts to entertain you while you wait. I would definitely come back to get another one done in the near future. Maybe even make it a day with my friends or mom. =) read more

Disclaimer: I hate conversations with any technicians, period. I see the sign with good specials, so I look inside. Without even a chance to make my own decision, Tami is already telling me to come in to get my nails done by her. She doesn't ask me what I want to listen to, she just told me that she knows I like Beyoncé so she plays it for me. ( I do love Beyoncé, but her just assuming that made me think she was stereotyping...) Anyway, as she's doing my nails, she never stopped talking about herself. She talked shit about other businesses and how everyone on the block comes to her. She talked about how her 16 yr old daughter has a "nice. She showed me a picture... after that she asked me if I thought she looked good for her age of 51. She even talked about her husband and showed me her wedding photos. Then she proceeded to ask me about my love life. She kept telling me how " sexy " my nails were gonna be because she's so amazing. 90% of everything she said was about how amazing she is. Made an appointment for 4 for 10am on a Saturday about 2 days beforehand without any problem, so that was great! Salon is small, and there were only stations for 3 nail techs, including Tami. Maybe 4-5 massage spa chairs, which double as their waiting area. Tami insisted on doing 3 of our manicures, while her 2nd tech worked on another customer and her 3rd tech did a basic mani on our 4th friend. Tami was great. She was funny, and she did good work, quickly. Her 2nd tech was also great; she prepped my full set for a fill by Tami, and she was super gentle. (My full set was a hot mess because I let an inexperienced pedi tech--somewhere else--do them. NEVER AGAIN, but that's another story.) That third tech, unfortunately, was NOT good, and the reason why I had to take off a star. She butchered my friend's nails. She chopped them down beyond the nail bed, and I'm surprised she didn't draw blood. Her paint job was also both blotchy AND streaky. Tami did at least try to salvage it and make it right when we told her. She was probably even more annoyed when we were. Because of the service 2 of my friends and I received, I'll definitely be back, especially for the price. But make sure you ask for Tami! read more

Happy new customer! Tami encouraged me to switch from sculpted acrylic nails to dipped nails. Love them!! She was very patient and helpful as I flip-flopped on colors, and listened to me on what shape I like best. She plays great music vids so the mood is so upbeat (ask her to play the Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga one!). She carries a blue million number of dips (@2000) as well as gel polish. She encourages you to use what is healthiest and most natural long term. If she's not with a client, she's cleaning or updating the facility, and t front door is typically open so lots of fresh air. the more i look at them the more i realize i am super unhappy with my nails. some already look like they need a fill, some are crooked, and they are not all the same shape and size. one of them also is not even, it looks like the acryllic isn't covering my whole nail. for someone who was so proud to have been doing nails for 30 years, i don't feel your work is reflective of that. these are far from perfect as she claims and i am very disappointed that this poor of a manicure costs $45. i'm not sure why the reviews were so high tbh. she did give me a refund when i asked for one today. she insisted tho that the nails were perfect but i can have my money back if that's what i want but they're perfect lol. read more

I do a lot of glasswork with my hands and literally thought there was no hope for me. Last week my boyfriend was with me and he suggested I get my nails done, his treat. For some reason I accepted the offer and boy am I glad I did. Tami and the rest of her girls are the best! I've been coming to her salon for about a year. She convinced me to switch from getting gel and acrylic nails to dip powder and I've never gone back. I've also never seen another salon with half as many color options as her. I am super picky and she always goes above and beyond. But I guess this place is not for me though, unfortunately the quality is non existent which is quite a disappointment, because I truly wanted to love this place. First of, she convinced me to do dipped powder nails which I've never done before, she explained how it's healthier and that it lasts longer than gel. I've been doing gel mani for over 5 years, and every time I go to have it done they start of by cleaning my nails and trimming my cuticles, but she went straight to buffing it with her electric nail drill, which I thought was very abrasive, she didn't trim my cuticles at all. She was also working so fast that she nicked my skin quite a few times, and at the same time telling me that it's nothing, and that she's been doing this for 30 years. Twice she asked me if I wanted something to drink, and twice I said cold water, sadly I didn't get my cold water. But a regular customer that came in a few minutes later was given a tea immediately. My pedicure is subpar, I didn't even get to sit in one of the pedi spa chair, but instead my feet was soaked in a shallow pail with warm water, which I thought was very 70's. I guess I just have to keep on looking for a a nail salon that's worthy of my $$$ around this area. read more

While I LOVE the atmosphere here, bc Tammi is great and hilarious... BUT. My gel repeatedly lasts for just ONE WEEK!!!! After spending 80.00 I want my gel to at least get me through a couple of weeks. Right now they're a wreck. This had happened too many times, and I just think our girl needs new polish or something. My light pink gel began a dysfunctional down spiral after only two days of wear. I could've almost done my own nails... also. Our girl talks mess in her language. I had a friend go with me that speaks 12 languages, and she confirmed that Ms. Tammi talks all kinds of crap about clients that are stoutness right in front of her. Still, tammi is terrific, just make sure you get a dip or a gel color that isn't too old. I tip her well, too! Ugh. read more
