I have been coming to Kiwi Nails for years and just realized I've never written a review. Kiwi nail is by far my favorite nail salon I have been to in Long Beach. Everyone in the salon is super friendly and they can usually for you into the schedule. I recommend going to Ben if you want Gel X. He does amazing nails and the quality is great! A full set usually lasts be about 4 weeks with no breakage. After 4 weeks I come in for a fill, which lasts me another 4 weeks. I highly recommend! read more

I called and made an appointment same day. Service is professional and clean. The woman that did my nails was sweet and friendly, we chatted. I got hard gel with a solid gel color on my short finger nails and it was $50 before tip. I don't like how they refuse to take card, it's Zelle or Venmo only. They should state it when you call and make an appointment or put it on the front of their door before you walk in. Nothing is right with this place except location and a fast Venmo payment. It looks like a juice place or something like that used to be here. I was directed to the bar that didn't look clean. I sat on highly uncomfortable bar stool, and observed the area behind the bar that was a messy pile up of items. Not clean either. Stains and drips everywhere... Oven for warming towels - rusted and drips under it... Lady stepped up and threw a small blue towel over the bar surface...which was so stained it was impossible to see if it's clean or not... but considering what was on the background, I had my doubts. She pulled her tool set out and proceeded to cut my nails. It felt clumsy, awkward and rough, like somebody who has been doing this job for a couple of days. The only thing I was hoping for was not to get the infection. The rest, I can handle. 15 minutes later - you done. $25 Yes, I left a tip $5. I like this salon but Brian was not as attentive and detail oriented. I went with my neighbor and her stylist spent at least 15 more minutes with her than Brian spent with me. I HAD to ask him to file my nails to make them even as he started to put the base coat. He painted the chrome on his unpolished nail to show me what it would look like while my friend's stylist painted it over her colored nails so she could see her end result. He didn't care that I had uneven nails and I left with bumps and jagged cuticles. Disappointing!!!! read more

Love kiwi nails so much! The staff is so kind and welcoming. Ben did my nails as a walk in this morning as they opened and he killed it. I showed him some inspiration pictures and he showed me some as well and the collaboration was really nice. Horrible dirty place. I got my dip removed aggressively and extremely unprofessionally with the woman popping off my nail. So painful!!! I pointed out to her that it hurt and she said it was easy for her this way. The worst way...then they charged me for the pulling/popping off of the nail. Even though I got a manicure which she did not shape my nail it was the worst. I don't recommend this place at all.. She also cut my nail when the dip was still on aggressively. It was the worst.. I've been going to this nail salon for almost four years now, and it's hands down the best in town. I was introduced to them when I first moved to the Shore by a close friend and they were so caring and attentive. The service is consistently amazing--friendly, respectful, and always helpful, especially the front desk staff who go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. I was even late today because of traffic and they were able to fit me in and were understanding over the phone. No matter which technician I book with, they always deliver exactly what I want, whether it's short and simple, long and bold, or intricate, Pinterest-worthy nail art. My nails are naturally weak and thin, and I've damaged them more than once, but Helen and Leah are always quick to fix them without hesitation--and without charging me! That kind of care and generosity is rare. The gel builder sets have been a game changer; even with my hands constantly in chemicals at work, they still last beautifully. And don't even get me started on the pedicures--my favorite includes the warm wax treatment and a glorious 10-minute foot and calf massage. It's the ultimate treat. Ben is amazing, but again, everyone I've had has treated me like I was their regular client, even if I wasn't. They have regular deep chairs (no massage chairs) but I actually find it more comfortable, maybe because I'm so short. The genuine kindness and quality of service I've experienced from every staff member here is exactly why I keep coming back. I went today and the guy who sets up the appointments Ben, perhaps even the owner was so rude so curt and so not fit for customer service it was shocking. Every time I have come here they're either out of the color I want, or the color just does not match what is in the book once it's on my nails. So I've had to pivot every time I've come in. During my most recent visit, the woman at the front desk had the audacity to ask if I had paid for my last appointment. I was shocked, considering I always confirm my Venmo payment before leaving--and she's usually the one who verifies it. She brushed it off with a laugh, saying there had been "a lot of back and forth" last time because I returned within the hour to get my cuticles trimmed (a service not included in fills). I clarified that I absolutely paid and even suggested she check the Venmo receipts, since they don't accept cards or Apple Pay. I also asked, "Why would I come back for a cuticle trim if I had walked out without paying in the first place?" Her response? A passive-aggressive "I can pull the camera footage." So I said, "If you can check footage and Venmo, why didn't you do that before implying I hadn't paid?" She had no answer--just mumbled something and walked away. Save yourself the time and stress. Went here on Sunday and got a gel mani. I don't know if it's the polish (I believe it's called Diva) or the tech but the gel polish did not last. It started heavily peeling on Tuesday just 2 days after my appt. Today is Friday and most of the polish on every nail has chipped completely off or is almost gone. I've been to Kiwi a few times and have had nice results. The last time I went, Diva polish again, the paint chipped quickly. I wanted to give Kiwi one more chance but this is it. Walk ins welcome (I've always been taken care of if I walk in) but I usually schedule an appt so they know I'll be coming by. Henry took care of my pedicure and he was so careful and meticulous. Recently went back just for pedicure , Techs are still very nice Seems like the vibe of business has changed, One alert , I sat at chair 1 , and as soon as I pulled up my sweats to prop my legs on ottoman, back of right leg calf started itching .. I didn't pay much attention, since I was getting pedicure with upgraded callus removal, with he'll to legs But once I got home I noticed a red rash , JUST back of calf area right leg , larger than silver dollar in size Itching redness n bumps .. used antibiotic ointment to area over a week , it's scabbing over now , never spread , just one area on calf maybe make sure wipe chairs with disinfectant, really really well read more

Just like any salon you gotta find the right tech. I had Tina for a pedicure. I was told a regular (not gel) pedicure would take ~45 min over the phone. Came in and was talked into the upgraded $37 pedicure for the callus removal. My calluses were barely touched. My upgrade got me less attention to my calluses than any other regular pedicure I've had. The entire pedicure lasted 20 min including the timed 5 min massage in the upgraded pedicure. No one came back to check if my nails were dry and I had to put my sandals on myself. The seats are comfy but they are not massage chairs. I went in for just a pedicure. Tina spent no more than 7-10 minutes from the time I walked in to the time I left. She tried to sell me removing my rough heels for $7. I declined and my the procedure was expedited. I tipped her $5 anyway and received a courtesy thank you. (regretted that) The atmosphere was ok but I don't mind when you receive good quality service. I struggled finding a nail salon in the Long Beach area for years and finally came across Kiwi. The first time I went to Kiwi, Tina did my nails, she was kind and friendly. She told me that I have 7 days after I get my nails done to go back if I did not like them. I never took her up on that offer as I was always content with my nails. I went in on Monday and had to go shorter and change the shape as I broke one of my nails. I let Tina know that I struggle taking out my contacts if my nails are too pointy. Yesterday, I really struggled taking out my contacts, so I decided to go back as it has only been two days. Also, the color that we used was chipping and I have a wedding next week so I knew it would not hold up too well. Today when I went back to Kiwi, Wednesday, April 23, at 1:30pm, I asked the woman at the front desk if I can get my nails reshaped and that the nail color is chipping so I would like to just paint them nude so they can last until the wedding. The woman at the front told me they can reshape them and recolor them, but it would be $30. I calmly asked her why I had to pay if I was not satisfied with the nails (I already paid $67 (plus a $10 tip) for them two days ago). She began raising her voice at me. I calmly asked her why she was raising her voice at me, and she said because I was asking her to do something for free when the wearing of the paint was "normal" (I got them done less than 48 hours ago). I was embarrassed that people in the nail salon were staring at this woman yell at me so I told her I would go to another nail salon to get them fixed. I went back to ask her for her name, and she refused to give it to me. Yelling at me again, she said I was going to use it to "tell lies" about her. Tina called me shortly after and said that is the tone this woman speaks in. @Katty, if this is the tone that your employees speak in, this is alarming. She said the reason why the front desk employee wanted to charge me an additional $30 is because whomever fixes my nails would lose money. I would have gladly tipped the person that reshaped/repainted. I am absolutely disappointed with the way I was treated at Kiwi. After years of searching for a reliable nail salon, I thought I had finally found one that I could trust. However, the experience I had today has left me feeling completely disrespected and undervalued as a customer. It is infuriating to see that customer satisfaction is clearly not a priority at Kiwi. I will not be returning, and I hope that other customers are not treated with the same appalling service that I received. But from the rest of the complaints on this Yelp page, it looks like Katty should reconsider her front desk employee. read more

Diana was so sweet, had a very gentle hand, and created the most beautiful shape that a lot of other people have a hard time creating since I like my nails shorter. Also, the gel builder didn't burn once, when I'm used to my nails being on fire. I can't wait to come back for a pedicure, and to get my nails done again with Diane! Been coming here for over a decade. I love it! The seats are simple (no massaging chairs), but the staff is absolutely incredible!

I only ever need quick trims to deal with ingrown nails and callous removals when I drop into a nail salon, and Kiwi delivered adequately on both. I paid a little more than I do at my usual place, and the service felt a bit rushed. I had to file off some rough edges myself that night. The chairs and basins are a bit old school, and the cell service was unusable but I can't fault them for that. I'd come back if I ever need a quick fix and can't make it to my usual spot. read more
