Had a ...not great... experience which is surprising because this is my go-to nail salon. Got treated to a pedicure for my birthday and my wife and i felt super unwelcomed by staff. We made an appointment for 1 PM, and they waited until around 1:15 to start our pedicures, they helped a walk-in before us despite our appointment and that we'd been waiting. They didn't fully take off my old polish before putting on new polish and applied the new polish inconsistently. I will be repainting my nails as soon as i get home, which is a bummer. My appointment was for a gel manicure. The salon is large with many massage chairs for pedicures and a "bar" for manicures. The service here was absolutely horrible: 1. I was not greeted when I entered and awkwardly stood at the front of the salon for a few minutes before one of the gal eventually asked how I could be helped. 2. I was never once offered a drink even though their shelves have bottles of rose and champagne. No water or anything was offered. 3. The gal who did my nails (Helen) LAUGHED in my face when I asked her to file them in an almond shape and then continued to work as she pleased. The interior was messy and a bit dirty. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because Helen (although very rude) did do a great job on my manicure. I won't be coming back. read more

I have toenail fungus on my big toe from a pedicure 20 years ago at another place. The technician here scraped it out which is normal. Then she went to continue using that tool on my other toes. That is how fungus spreads. I had to stop her. Then she injured another toe which is now swollen and I am having to neosporin it. I'm new to the area and chose this place via yelp reviews. They're inexpensive but I feel like their customer service has taken the hit. I've been coming here on and off for a few years, there's one technician that works here will make faces at clients nails or another technician's client. They seem to only ask the older women with obvious money if they want refreshments. I've had okay customer service and then some bad. But you get what you pay for. The lady pictured did my nails and complained the entire time. I had her redo my nails initially because she painted them pink when I asked for French tip. She proceeded to talk under her breath to her coworker. Then she told me my nails had to dry and never came back to tell me I was finished. I waited for 45 minutes, while she avoided eye contact with me, just for her to say "yea you're done" and wave me off. So, I tried to politely tell the lady at the front counter about my bad experience I had she was dismissive and told me "$30." I paid and left. Got gel X for the first time and it was surprisingly fast! Gem Nail bar is clean and elevated in that some clients sit at a bar, similar to a bar that serves drinks! Cute! My nail artist didn't have much experience with design, as I showed her what I wanted. She did the best she could, and I helped her figure out the small stars. As this was the first time I've had gel-X I wasn't aware that the intense UV light would burn on each nail. Good thing right before my artist used the light, my daughter gave me a forewarning. I was looking forward to a relaxing pedicure experience and that's what I got here. I'm sure it gets busy on weekends later in the day, but I came in at 10:00am on a Saturday and the ambience was calm and subdued. Tam did a fantastic job on my pedicure - she was gentle, thorough and had a peaceful vibe to her. I was not rushed out the door right after top coat application and was even offered a bag for my shoes. The basic pedicure was $30 and I added the $7 callus removal on. Decided to give this place a try and came in on a Tuesday evening. Easily made an appt earlier in the day for Gel X. The shape and lengths were uneven and crooked but at a glance, looked fine overall. Within an hour, I felt like they were going to break doing normal activities - driving, pulling out my wallet, typing, etc. and noticed lifting on some. The tips were either too small for my nail bed or not aligned correctly and hanging off the side wall. 24 hours later and 3 nails have already came off completely. I've tried a few nail places in Long Beach, but glad to say that I've been coming here regularly since early 2024. All the techs are great for pedicures - staff is friendly. They can get busy so make an appointment. You may still need to wait with an appointment but they keep things moving so you're not waiting too long. I always try to make an appointment for Alyssa or Rose for gel x nails. They're both awesome, take their time, and their attention to detail are all the reasons why I continue to ask for them! read more

During my appointment with Hellen (who did my dip nails), I felt extremely uncomfortable and dismissed throughout the entire process. Her demeanor came across as unprofessional and unwelcoming. -Although I expressed interest in selecting a color, I was never shown the color palette. -When I requested short almond-shaped nails, she shook her head without explanation and gave me a dismissive look. -When I told her about the number of dip layers I wanted--something that has varied in my past visits--she responded in a condescending manner and laughed and shook her head. The experience was disappointing and uncomfortable from start to finish. Additionally, I've noticed ongoing cleanliness issues during past visits--particularly during pedicures. On multiple occasions, the towel used to wipe off lotion off my legs appeared dirty, and once it even had visible toenail clippings on it. Also, they lasted for such a long time! My nails looked like they had just been done for at least a few weeks after she did them, which was perfect because my husband and I went on a 2 week honeymoon!
