I usually spend about 15 minutes to an hour in their store. I never feel rushed or unwelcomed. I love coming here because I'm very tactile and feel like it's very important to see the cards (colors, art detail) and feel the cardstock, see if I connect with a deck, how the cards shuffle in-person. It's not possible to get all those details from shopping or watching a flip-through online. Almost every deck they sell has a demo deck on display. It's nice that sometimes they have both free and paid talks/events here. This is actually one of my favorite metaphysical stores I've ever been to. Some stores are too cluttered/dirty/cramped or do not have enough card selection, but TarotArts is very clean and organized, doesn't all kind of odds & ends that other stores tend to have. They have a little of everything without being excessive. Today I learned they have another small area in the back of the store with more shelves. I noticed that their website is not updated, so it might say out of stock online but it's been restocked on the shelf in the store so if something is showing out of stock, it's best to call and check. They carry mostly mass market/big publisher decks, but also have some lesser known/independent decks too. Wish they carried more indie decks in the future. Very nice store to shop for yourself or for gifts. Also really great location because there are cute shops and eateries nearby. Street parking is also free and easy to find.

The staff here has always been super welcoming and informative. Not all HOIs are the same - the crystal selections all differ and this one also had a beautiful African drum (djembe) for sale that made the most magnificent sounds. I don't know how to play the djembe, but it sure sounded like I did, lol. I think about the instrument all the time, but I wasn't willing to drop that much money that day.

I also used to take yoga classes sometimes in Burbank with Jamie and she would incorporate sound healing into the class which was really nice. Jamie is a consummate professional. Always kind, always on time (hauling all that equipment back-and-forth!), very educational about the healing applications of sound. She does a good job of getting people set up properly to have a good experience. I believe that the purpose of a sound bath is to train your brain and psyche into a state of peaceful neutrality. Some people get a bit of a high from it. Either way, It's a beautiful experience to share with other people and I've witnessed a lot of people get positive benefits out of it. I haven't taken any sound healing training sessions with Jamie but having known her for over 14 years I'm sure that she makes them very informative and fun.

So, I arrived even earlier than the recommended 15 minutes. And what I came to find is a very intentional, organized operation. Plastic boxes are provided at check-in, for your shoes and belongings that you place into a cubby. The room is mindfully and beautifully designed, clean, and orderly. They don't pack in as many people as they can to get their money's worth. And there were mats, pillows, eye masks, and crystals set up for a total of 8 people. The two owners work as a team, and begin with a brief "what to expect" and Q&A session. Then, for the theta class, they warm you up with a little partners rainstick exercise standing up (nothing too awkward)... then everyone lays back and gets situated, takes some deep breaths, and is transported by a magical medley of drums, synth speakers, singing bowls and gongs. If you've ever had acupuncture and sort of been in that blissful in-between state of delicious sleep and slight wakefulness... that was my experience. While I understand that some might be peeved about the strict no latecomers policy, anyone who actually has experienced this sound bath would probably understand why they run such a tight ship. Besides, punctuality is a nice way to enter into this (and any) intentional journey. Also... grow up! :) Would happily do it again!

Unfortunately, my experience this past December left me with a bad impression. I stopped in to buy Christmas gifts and while I was being helped by the employee at the register, I asked if they happened to have small handouts explaining the properties of a few crystals that came from the glass shelves. They weren't sure, so they asked the older employee/manager standing nearby. His response was rude. He came over and said they would have to print one out and didn't have time to do that. I wasn't expecting anyone to go out of their way to print something--I was just asking in case they had copies available at the front. A polite "no, we don't" would have been fine. Instead, the sharp tone was embarrassing, especially since it happened in front of other customers, the employee helping me, and my partner. I still purchased my items, but the interaction left me hesitant to return. This is a shop that should feel warm, welcoming, and relaxing considering what it offers. I deeply love the personalization when you buy a candle, to what you actually are working with she will discuss it topically and create something special for you, instead of a generic candle. This occult store has a very punk-witchy aesthetic with a hand-painted icon of Hekate, a statue of Baphomet and pentagrams formed with twigs and ribbon. It has all the staples of an esoteric store, so you can easily find candles, incense and crystals, along with jewelry, pins, stickers and patches. The clerk on duty was kind and willing to assist. In my case, I was just looking for some basics, but Pan's Apothika offers other services of the occult persuasion. And prices are actually extremely reasonable So give this place some love.
