Walking into this store just brings me happiness! It is beautifully curated and I always find something that becomes my new favorite piece of clothing. I have been shopping here for years, I always find the owner and the staff to be so pleasant and helpful. You can tell that the store is loved and that the buyer (who I think is the owner) is inspired. What I especially like about this store is that all of the clothing is super high quality and is often sourced from other small businesses who are committed to their craft. I have dresses that I purchased from Dotter years ago and I wear them constantly, but they still look like new. The prices are super reasonable especially for the quality and longevity of the items. I love to go here whenever I need to pick up a gift for a friend, I always find the perfect item. I am so happy that Dotter is open again, I've missed being inside of this special store! read more

I have been a loyal customer since the store opened. It is my "go-to" for gifts or if I want something special for friends and family. I drive @45 minutes to get there and had actually selected a jacket for myself. I tried on the jacket and noticed that there was a $32 discrepancy between the coat on line versus in the store. I waited in the long line (holiday sale prompted throngs) and told (& showed her the jacket I had saved in my phone) the owner what happened. She asked me to wait to check. I waited a good 15 plus minutes during which time her assistant took down the coat from the web site and made it reflect the higher price. Then she brightly asked if I wanted to try it on again and I said no, I need to leave and then she said she wouldn't honor the price that was listed on line stating it was a human error and she was running a small business. I think it is bad form to not honor the price that was listed. She has known than I've brought friends who have spent significant money in her store and I come to her from great distance for years...this was their mistake and I think it's extremely poor form to not honor what was listed. This is customer service at its worse. So much for loyalty. I could easily have bought the jacket on line and picked it up at the store but I thought that would not have integrity. Come to think of it, her actions didn't have integrity. You would think she would cultivate keeping her loyal customer base. What a disappointment. read more

I love Dotter! I live in NoCal and haven't visited the shop yet; everything I've ordered online has been perfect. Their packaging reflects attention and love and shipping is speedy. I do have one issue: they don't use a business phone--the only contact is email, And the response can take a few days. This is so frustrating because when I have a question about a new product, I don't want to wait a couple of days because my size may sell out. So I have to make a calculated decision...and so far it's worked out 100%. Dotter is a wonderful business to purchase from and support! read more

I'll start with some positives. Whoever curates this store does a great job. They sell so many cute things at very marked up prices. I have purchased some very pricey but great gifts for people here. However, I've had multiple experiences that left me feeling unvalued and questioning whether I was being discriminated upon. Example: I was in the store shopping but the attendants only helped the white shoppers. Once I saw an attendant (unprompted) go up to a white lady and tell her all about the sales they were having in store and then walk right past me as if I was invisible. I wish this was an isolated event but it seems as thought it happens whenever I go to this store. This morning I stopped by during business hours and they refused to let me in because they were cleaning a window. I stood outside the door for 5 minutes until I got tired of waiting and walked away. Not sure why they couldn't let me in to shop while they continued to wipe it down. Maybe I'm overly sensitive but It's been a pattern that every time I leave this store I have a pit in my stomach that I don't feel anywhere else. This is one of my favorite stores in LA. I'm a little biased of course since it's in my neighborhood, but it's just a great spot! They always have a beautiful selection of items that rotates out enough that you can regularly find new treasures. I love all the clothing they have here. Though it's pricey, it actually isn't quite at the high price point as you'll see at some boutiques around LA and they do run regular promotions. They have a great selection of different shoes and bags as well. They have such a distinct, but unique aesthetic of items that work very well together. They also have a good variety of home items - especially dishes. They always have gorgeous pottery and enamelware as well as unique utensils and serve-ware. I honestly have a hard time when I visit here because I love so much of what they have and want it all. They also have a fun little kids section in the back for those with children. This is a great store on an awesome shopping street that keeps changing to get better and better. read more

I love Dotter! They have a point of view that is consistent which means I can always find something carefree, wearable and affordable! I just purchased three items that I can wear daily and on my long-awaited vacation to Hawaii! The pieces always mix and match with what I already have. The vibe there is totally relaxed and friendly with help just when you need it. You can tell that it is a real "neighborhood" staple. The children's section is awesome, too. This place was always a must-browse but in quarantine has been my go-to. They have wonderful sales, the owner is helpful and responsive, and their inventory is unique and beautiful. I love that they have kids stuff too. It's always a temptation to spend too much here but I've never been disappointed by the quality. The problem with this place is that everything is QUALITY. My wife and i strolled in to take a look. Just a gander. A casual afternoon peak if you will. We ended up buying these beautiful hand made tapas plates- mostly because they were so awesome- before we left, wishing the whole time we could justify buying half the store. Dotter is, by far, my favorite boutique on the overcrowded shopping boulevard of York in Highland Park. These hipster boutqiue owners can sometimes be intimidating, but not here. Dotter's owner Annika is the most relaxed, sweet, drily funny person in the world. She also has a wonderful eye. Dotter's merchandise is gorgeously curated; almost every item is striking and beautiful. It's expensive--definitely--but some items run less than $20 or even $10. And if you have the resources to drop $100+, that's easy to do. It's become my go-to gift shop for babies, kids, well-dressed women and arty men. read more

Since moving to Highland Park this place has become my absolute go-to for gifts. It offers varied and beautiful items in a variety of price ranges. It stands out from it's York Blvd. neighbors for its large children's and housewares section and its fabulously curated women's ware and -perhaps most importantly- its affordability. The employees are also very helpful and know quite a bit about each of the products they sell. Sale rack in the back right corner and usually a monthly promo as well. read more

I decided to stop in what looked to be a possibly overpriced boutique store with cool - but mostly useless - knickknacks. I was very wrong. Dotter has a great selection of very unique gifts for anyone you could think of. Here are my top three: 1) a great selection of cookbooks covering all varieties of food and cooking experience, 2) jewelry by Tiffany Kunz that is just spectacular, and 3) great dinnerware and a nice little kids section. Okay, I guess that's four, but whatever. I thought some of the stuff was a bit overpriced, but I get it. It's in Highland Park and there is lots of disposable income flooding the area, but I picked up a kid's shirt and it was $72. Granted, it was really nice and probably hand-embroidered, but that just seems wacky to me. All that said, a really great store with great stuff. I hope they stick around for a while. read more

My favorite little retail shop on York. The owner Annika is incredibly friendly and helpful, as are the other women who work here. The shop has an incredibly well-curated selection of home goods (cookbooks, dishes, cloth napkins/tablecloths, etc.), women and children's clothing (lots of natural fibers, interesting prints, comfortable cuts, etc.), baby/kid toys, bags, jewelry, personal care (soap, perfume, ...), home decor, shoes, and more. I love walking in and exploring--it's a little treasure trove. It's the perfect place to find one-of-a-kind gifts for a friend, mom, child, sibling, and if you don't have ideas, they'll help you find something. I'm a fan of linen, wooden home goods (and now toys for my baby), local business, and overall well-made and beautiful-but-practical objects, and this shop checks all those boxes. Some items are expensive (women's clothing), but there is plenty within my price range plus there are frequent sales. I can't tell you how many times I've stopped in to pick up a housewarming, children's birthday, or Christmas gift. I love this shop so much, not only for what it sells but also the people. read more
