I've been shopping at this store for the past seven years and have always enjoyed the atmosphere. The employees have been friendly, although they don't always acknowledge you unless you approach them first for assistance. Unfortunately, my experience this past December left me with a bad impression. I stopped in to buy Christmas gifts and while I was being helped by the employee at the register, I asked if they happened to have small handouts explaining the properties of a few crystals that came from the glass shelves. They weren't sure, so they asked the older employee/manager standing nearby. His response was rude. He came over and said they would have to print one out and didn't have time to do that. I wasn't expecting anyone to go out of their way to print something--I was just asking in case they had copies available at the front. A polite "no, we don't" would have been fine. Instead, the sharp tone was embarrassing, especially since it happened in front of other customers, the employee helping me, and my partner. I still purchased my items, but the interaction left me hesitant to return. This is a shop that should feel warm, welcoming, and relaxing considering what it offers. I was in the area and did a search for a metaphysical shop and Yelp pointed me to Alexandria II and it did not disappoint. I went looking for some smokey quartz and left with not only that but also several pieces of jewelry, a book, a tarot deck and a few other odds and ends. When I tell you I was like a kid in a candy store I'm not exaggerating. Service was a little off at first but in the end I was able to get help looking at some jewelry in a locked case. This is such a charming little bookstore but it's much more than that. They have a lot of spiritual items, crystals, jewelry, etc. We walked by after a visit from Philz Coffee, which we saw many other customers with the same idea :) Things that caught my eyes: the beautiful jewelry! The prices of items were very reasonable considering the busy area of Pasadena they are in. I picked up a pair of beautiful dangly rose quartz earrings. Also loved the sound bowls, I love playing with them! I saw they also have phychic readings, but I didn't look more into that. Service was excellent from both staff we worked with. Located at The Commons area, parking can be a hassle in the Lake Avenue area, but there are parking lots and structures at Shoppers Lane. We luckily found street parking a block away. This is a very nice bookstore! My mom used to take me here when they were located at the other location in Pasadena. The books haven't changed, however the music was more new-age back then. I like this store.. Will be going back again to buy some singing bowls. I would highly recommend this store to anyone in the area or just visiting Pasadena. The man and young lady at the cash register were very helpful and knowledgeable. Books and other items are also fair prices. This is a highly-valued store by me. Love this store. I drive from Long Beach just for the incense alone, but they have way more than that. The vibe of store is incredible, the scenery is spectacular, the gifts and spirituality is divine. The store associates are equally as kind. Thank you Eric and Holly for allowing me to take pictures while visiting yesterday! Free Souls incense are what I drive there for. Pricey, but well worth the price because they burn for hours! This review is for an employee working there on 4/27, around closing time. I have bought books from this store multiple times and have always had positive interactions with employees. On this day as soon as I entered, this particular employee explained that they would be closing in ten minutes. That was fine because I knew exactly what book I wanted. However, her attitude was horrible and she said " I promise I'm nicer earlier in the day". Ummmmm ok. You are still clocked in and your job is to help customers. I quickly paid for the book, which she instructed another employee to find for me since she was too annoyed. She pointed at the other employee so that they could help me. Absolutely rude ! read more

I am a rock hound. I have collected minerals and crystals from childhood to date. I was so excited to see this shop after having lunch with my sister. We walked in through the back entrance. There was a man behind the counter on the phone and one woman in the store. She did not appear to be a customer but not sure. He completed the call and then began speaking to the woman. We walked the length of the store twice looking at items. There was never an acknowledgement of our presence. No hello, be right with you, let me know if you have questions, nothing. Actually, he may not have even seen us so we simply walked out. As someone that feels energy from crystals and the environment that they are in, this is not a place I will ever return to. read more

I stopped by here on a whim since it's been awhile since I shopped here but I am always regular when I am in the area. I looked around and found a super huge crystal and immediately bought it. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I bought a piece of jewelry here and decided I wanted to return it. However, apparently you can't return jewelry, which is kinda crazy given that there is no signage or any verbal warning about this rule. The only time you're warned about this is when you read the bottom of the receipt, which at that point it's too late. I work retail and it's usually a policy to give some kind of warning to a costumer that the item they are about to purchase cannot be returned. Let me emphasize that I was given ZERO information about this policy or warning that I would not be able to return my purchase. I know no one will read this or care if they do, but the rule of not being able to return jewelry of all things should be communicated in some way to the costumer. If it was food, undergarments, or something from a thrift store, I would understand, but an overpriced piece of jewelry is absolutely absurd. It's unfortunate that I now know this rule because I will never be coming back and will likely just discard my purchases since I can't return them. All I wanted was my money back. Not an exchange, not store credit, my money. I've never been to a store (ESPECIALLY a jewelry or crystal store) that has this kind of policy and it's honestly laughable how stupid it is. It feels very scam-y if you ask me, but like I said, I doubt the store owners care. I could walk into Gorjana right now and be able to return a piece of jewelry, but a dusty, disorganized crystal shop is incapable of that? I wish the newly hired "psychic" was there to read into her crystal ball and warn me about losing my money from this establishment because jewelry is apparently too difficult to return, even though it's still in it's original packaging. What's funny about all of this is I can return crystals, which I would understand not being able to do so since I can probably find a rock on the beach and claim it as the rock I purchased. The kicker is that this piece of jewelry didn't even have a chain or anything attached for it to actually function as a piece of jewelry, which is why I wanted to return it. All I want is my money back. Like I said, I don't want an exchange or a store credit because I won't be stepping foot in here again unless it's to return the overpriced rock for the amount of money I paid for it. This is my warning to anyone unfortunate enough to walk into this store: DON'T buy jewelry unless you REALLY love it and want to keep it forever, because you will NOT get your money back and they will NOT tell you that you can't return it. They scam people out of their money because they give no warning in any capacity and it is honestly unacceptable and disgusting. read more

Selection is good, prices are fair, service is...acceptable. I always love my purchases, but frankly, I do leave wishing they GAVE a little more. A human-to-human connection to customers would assure my loyalty. The type of customer service they offer is a very basic level of politeness and efficiency. Meaning, don't expect any particular sparkle, warmth, or conviviality. They don't offer it. That, coupled with the unfriendly "smile, you're on camera" signs, and well, you get the picture. :) Good merchandise though. The very kind younger woman working here was sweet and helpful. I really appreciate her help and if I return would be solely thanks to her. However the much older lady who works here is super super judgmental. She was staring at me since I walked In yet never asked if I needed help, then she told the other lady who was window shopping that she needed to put the items away because she was afraid they would "walk out of the store" and turned to look at me. Then after went and told the younger staff member to have her back when putting away items if both were alone in the store. The younger employee brushed it off because she knew this lady was being a Karen, she also kept judging my jay z shirt. This happened about two weeks ago and I wasnt going to leave a review but a similar incident happened while I was at a different store to an older Hispanic lady and I felt the need to say something since she was shunned and stood quiet. It's 2023 , I don't think we should be judging people like it's a hundred years ago, especially when you're supposed to be a good vibe/spiritual healing type store, very scammy feeling so not recommend . read more

The selection of goods at this bookstore is amazing and I always walk out with something I'm proud or excited to have (stones, jewelry, books, tarot and oracle cards). They also have talismans and coloring books, as well as sound bowls and tuning forks, they really do have a little bit of everything for all walks of life. The service here is always tops and I'm grateful for all the employees here because they really know their stuff or a way to find out more and they give great recommendations whenever I ask an open-ended question. My Education over the years, (came from earning three degrees at a top notch Private University in Socal,) never offered me the level of Highly Esoteric, and conscious stimulating knowledge that Alexandria 2 offers. The many Books, special incense and special artifacts truly are stimulating. One cannot leave this bookstore without purchasing something. I've been frequenting this shop for years long before HOI. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful for all your metaphysical needs. If you're looking for supplies, books, cards, crystals, and candles - look no further. It's your one stop shop. Need a reading? You can book an appointment too by phone. They have a parking lot located behind their building and with covid they've limited the patrons inside. There's sanitary stations in the front and all members wear masks. I always find everything I'm looking for when I come in and I happen to be part of their rewards program. This place is memorable because I use to shop here with my dad as a kid over 15 years ago. This is one of the more cleaner energy metaphysical stores, that's why I come here. There are no signs of black magic and their reputation has been around for years. The magic in here feels pure and with good intent. I literally have been frequenting since their first location across the street. If it wasn't for fabulous staff such as Laura, I'm not sure I would feel so welcomed here. She fits the store and it's energy perfectly. She is truly one with her divine.
